Satoshi was a successful lawyer for a reason. He was good at what he did and the part if it was investigating a case, hunting down witnesses.
After realising that he wasn't able to attain his happiness of getting Kyoko, he wanted nothing more than to crush Kuon, the biggest hurdle in his way.
It was a gift from Kami really that his background check on Kyoko gave him more than he bargained for.
It took him straight to Mogami Seijiro, the chairman of the largest law firm in all of Kyoto. He once wanted to be a part of Mogami Legal Aid when he was just a student. Every Japanese lawyer worth their salt knew the power this firm holds.
But the power came from being the defence attorneys of the biggest crime syndicate of Kyoto.
Vie Ghoul.
At least that's what they are currently called. Their youngest leader took over a few years ago, hence the name.
Seijiro Mogami's power and influence were not taken lightly especially by those who knew what this man was capable of. Or what he could make others do.
But that didn't even scratch the surface of what he did to his daughter. The details of Saena Mogami's life and subsequent death even startled Satoshi if he was being honest.
He knew the history and hatred for this guy, vaguely from Jude.
Jude wasn't comfortable sharing her history since her legs were a daily reminder of their passive culprit. But he was persuasive and that paid off the big time.
He now was in possession of information that even the Hizuri's weren't aware of.
Because now he knew how sick Seijiro Mogami was and how deep his obsession truly run.
Yashiro Fortune was something he always coveted. The more ridiculous part was that it all was because of a myth, a bedtime story for children.
Old families in Kyoto we're more superstitious in general. They clung to the old ways and held onto tradition with a vengeance. Mogami clan wasn't any different. As their ancestors served as clergy of the Shogunate for generations.
While prestige came with hard work, wealth and status weren't given easily.
They could never elevate themselves to the true aristocracy. Since it didn't make sense, blaming the gods for not being generous with their blessings were an easy force to blame.
But on the other hand, a family that was simply blessed by the gods - The golden-eyed Yashiro. In the sea of black, the rays of the sun shone in their eyes, as if Amaterasu, the sun goddess blessed them herself.
Where a Yashiro went, they were successful. It just seemed like no hard work was needed when you could have God by your side.
Success that attributed to the superstition in very traditional aristocratic circles.
They were almost considered royalty amongst the aristocracy, known for their generous nature and skills in the culinary arts. They fed the emperors and shoguns for generations and ascended to a hierarchy of their own in time.
With time the superstition died down, but Mogami Seijiro was a traditionalist. A part of his family education revolved around the old Japan and legends.
He became obsessed over the idea and the supposed unfairness.
He had seen and met Yashiro Daiki, the only heir to the Yashiro fortune. Fate seemed to favour the man and to solidify his absurd idea about a godly blessing, Daiki's eyes were molten gold. Success seemed to fall to his feet.
Seijiro wanted a part of that. Why his ancestors didn't try to marry into the Yashiro family was baffling to him.
Fortune seemed to favour Seijiro because soon the Yashiro's adopted a girl named Chiho. Chiho became Daiki's younger sibling and Seijiro got the chance he always wanted.
He planned on marrying Yashiro Chiho, after successfully infiltrating the business. He was indispensable and Daiki put his trust in him. Chiho wasn't enthusiastic about the pursuit and instead, she fell for Hizuri Kazuki who was nothing but a poor student supported by the estate.
Adding insult to injury, she married Kazuki, who was not even of equal social status.
Seijiro was furious. His obsession took a weird turn and he wanted to be part of the Yashiro lineage, inherit the golden eyes.
If not him then his offspring.
While Daiki had 2 sons Yuzuki and Yuta and Chiho had Kuu; He got married and had a daughter, Saena.
He took at as a sign from the heavens. All was not lost.
He decided that Saena would be his salvation.
One issue, Saena was 13 years younger than Yuzuki.
Among the two brothers, Yuzuki inherited the golden eyes. So the younger Yuta or Chiho's son Kuu wasn't even in Seijiro's consideration.
Saena was brought up with one intention only, to marry Yuzuki and when Seijiro's wife intervened, he made the yakuza deal with his disobedient wife.
Saena lost her mother at 10.
But despite his efforts into grooming Saena to be married to Yashiro Yuzuki, he got married to a commoner named Megumi.
Yukihito was born shortly after, with a dull shade of gold eyes that resembled more his mother than his father.
But Seijiro didn't give up, Yuzuki had to pass off the eyes and since Yukihito didn't inherit it, the 2nd child must.
He had to have the Golden eyes in the Mogami lineage.
He first tried to make Yuta marry Saena so she could get into the family.
Yuta had other plans, he impregnated his high school girlfriend and had twins.
Even after that failed he forced his 16-year-old daughter to relentlessly seduce Yuzuki and planted the seed of doubt in Megumi.
Megumi slowly started to believe Yuzuki was not loyal to her, to the marriage.
"However, this was just the tip of the iceberg of the acts Seijiro committed.", Seijiro thought.
Not even killing off his wife was as sinister.
He was despicable through and through. He forced his teenage daughter to seduce Yuzuki.
Yuzuki's wife constantly witnessed Saena's desperate effort and only held onto it because of Yuki, who was unaware of how things were unfolding around him.
Seijiro was done playing games and took measures into his own hands.
He drugged Yashiro Yuzuki and forced his teenage daughter to sleep with him.
Saena got pregnant at only 16years of age.
From that day Seijiro had complete control over Yuzuki who was terrified of the truth leaking out because he truly believed that he had assaulted Saena.
Seijiro wanted Yuzuki to divorce his wife and marry Saena. Or he would take him to court on charges of assaulting a minor.
The other option was handing over all parental rights of the unborn child.
Which Yuzuki could not do.
At this point of the story, Satoshi was a bit confused, Yashiro Yuzuki had no reason to keep his parental rights over Saena's child. He could give away the child to Seijiro and end it there. There was still some information missing.
Also, Saena's role was unclear, so was her intentions. From all the accounts of the servants and employees, she was exceptionally beautiful and seemed like she enjoyed following Yuzuki around and bullying Yukihito's mother.
A classic home wreaker.
The next part of the story was confusing as well.
Because how Saena Mogami ran from her father and the yakuza at 8 months pregnant was baffling. At that point, she was heavily guarded and without inside help that would not have been possible.
However, that created the mayhem nobody saw coming.
Seijiro in his anger and terror of losing his years of work wanted to force Yuzuki into submission.
He sent the proof of Saena's pregnancy to Megumi who was already on the verge of a mental breakdown.
He even decided to make the event memorable by choosing the exact date.
On Yuki's 10th birthday his mother blinded by her grief and years of having Saena trying to blatantly seduce her husband believed everything and committed suicide.
And after discovering his wife's body and the papers, photographs that supposedly exposed his crime, Yuzuki took his own life.
Leaving behind a 10year old Yukihito and an unborn child.
Saena Mogami fled to the Fuwa ryokan. Her only friend who was older than her got married to the Fuwa heir. She had a baby boy recently and in Saena's desperation, she seemed to be her safest bet.
Saena died giving birth to Kyoko.
Satoshi hunted down the midwife that was in charge of Saena's delivery. To get the confirmation that he needed. According to her Saena had a very difficult pregnancy and seemingly knew that she won't survive it.
During her labour, she desperately pleaded one thing.
To hide the baby. That the monster should not get to her.
She succumbed after seeing her daughter's bright golden eyes.
Proof of her lineage.
Mogami in his rage tore apart the family and made sure to throw Yuki and Kuu out of the estate and inheritance. Yuta had been his pawn for a long time.
He searched for Saena and the child.
But couldn't track them down.
But Satoshi gave him his lifelong dream on a silver platter.
Mogami took out his phone and called a very important client.
"This better be an important old man", a sleepy voice picked up the phone.
"Ahh Reino-Kun, I needed a favour. You see my granddaughter is in Tokyo. Would you be nice and bring her home for me?"
