"Okay Naruto, consider this a mission."

"... School is not a mission."

"Yes it is a mission, I bet you remember the Chunin Exams when you were tested on your ability to cheat... well, this is going to be training. I want you to cheat your way into high school. If you've a good ninja, you'll be able to pass as an excellent student." Jiraiya spoke as he gave a fake mission to Naruto. Naruto gave him an extremely suspicious look, before he actually thought about it for a hot minute.

The math actually did add up.

"So... school during the day, and training at night."

"No, training all day... since you're going to be learning how to use wind element change, I want you to practice changing your chakra into wind... using this rock." Jiraiya passed a small rock to Naruto. He showed Naruto another rock in his hand hand, before the rock split in half as if it were cut by something. "Normally, you train using leaves... but that rock will have to do. While you're practicing information gathering, keep yourself focused on trying to cut that rock as well." Jiraiya stated as he pointed to the rock that Naruto was holding.

"... How?"

"Figure it out yourself, I'm not going to hold your hand through trainining... now here, take this money, but make a Shadow Clone and leave it with me while you go get some new clothes." Jiraiya stated as he grinned, knowing that he was going to have fun teaching Naruto a lesson. Hopefully, Naruto would realize what the lesson was without having to be taught. "I've hidden the clues to the test you will be taking all around the store, so use your observational skills to find the clues." Jiraiya stated as he crossed his arms.

"... When?"

"You're not the only one who can make clones."

"Good point."

-Much Later-

"Look at this handsome young man... such a charmer, that really makes your eyes pop." Yasaka stated as she looked at Naruto come out of the changing room. He was just wearing normal street clothes, but she wanted to gush over going to the store with a boy who looked like he was her son. They were both fair skinned blondies, though they had different eye colors. "Such an attractive little fox." Yasaka complimented the way the baseball cap really made his whisker marks stand out.

Naruto frowned at the compliment, but he didn't say anything or give an angry reaction. He shook his head before he went back into the changing room and came out moments later in the next outfit.

"So how did you and Pervy Sage meet?"

"He just approached me one day, asking if I was a kyuubi. I asked if he was my enemy, and we had a quick fight... he defeated me, and I learned we aren't enemies. That is about it... ooooh, who is this man that just came out of the changing room."

"... They are just clothes." Naruto turned his face away with red cheeks the way she just gushed over his clothes. She took the hat off of his head and took his headband off, before she ruffled his hair.

"Fine clothes enhance a fine man, and your looks. Your parents must have been very attractive, they made a very fine young man... you seem like you have your mother's face... it's a very good face, you lady killer." Yasaka laid the compliments onto Naruto, and she smiled when she just saw his face become even redder, but his face also didn't lie. The smile that came over his face as sudden pride visibly filled him.

Naruto didn't know his parents.

But he felt pride that he inherited good looks from them, compliments about how he gained good things from his parents would make even an orphan like him feel good. A person didn't need to know who their parents were to feel pride, and Naruto seemed to have not put much thought into his own looks.

"I mean, my Mom had to have been a babe... if I got her pretty face, and I'm handsome ya know." Naruto just scratched his cheek. "Still... why are you being so nice to me?" Naruto asked, since she was being really nice.

He was kind of used to people flirting with him a little from out of the village during his journey, but this went above that. She wasn't even flirting with him, she was just giving him compliments. He looked towards Yasaka, and she just smiled.

"No reason."

"Ah..."

"You shouldn't cover up your hair, you've got really nice bangs... maybe leave the headband off for now?" Yasaka suggested to Naruto, and he ruffled his bangs in thought. He ended up grabbing his headband from her, and he tied it to his neck with his cheeks reddened, and they stayed red. She just smiled and picked out another outfit for him to try out. "Don't worry about going over your budget, Jiraiya stole that money... I'll pay for everything, so why don't you keep that money a secret." Yasaka whispered as she put a finger to her lips.

Naruto blinked as his eyes unfocused.

For some reason, he just got the mental image of Jiraiya kicking him in the face. It was like a brief flash of memory, but he had the memory of just Jiraiya telling him to stare at him for a long time, and then a kick to the face. Then the memory faded without him feeling any of the pain, as if he got the memory in a flash and now it was a part of his memories forever.

"Huh... oh... I need to keep finding those clues for the test to get into that school... I'll show the perv that I'm a good cheater." Naruto suddenly remembered Jiraiya had set out clues around the mall. The flash of memory with Jiraiya reminded him that he was suppose to be training and getting new clothes that fit him.

Yasaka stared at Naruto.

A good cheater.

"... Oh, right, ninja training... I'm going to tell you this, there is no way that Jiraiya hid anything in this store. I'm not smelling any of his chakra in the mall." Yasaka confirmed that Jiraiya had lied to Naruto to get him to go shopping for some new clothes. She spoke in such a deadpan way that he didn't even doubt her words. "Still, it isn't hard to cheat. Just steal the answer key and memorize it ahead of time, they use the same basic tests." Yasaka gave Naruto that help for cheating.

Not that she approved of test cheating, but this was for his training so she would at least give him advice. The moral standard of a ninja was of course going to be different than that of a normal person.

"Now that Pervy Sage isn't here though... you're really a kyuubi?" Naruto asked with a lot more interest now that Jiraiya was off somewhere.

She nodded her head.

"Yes, I am a Kyuubi no Kitsune, Yasaka, leader of the youkai of my faction. I'm not as powerful as the monster in your gut..." Yasaka shivered in slight fear, because from what she could sense, the demon in Naruto's belly was something that existed on it's own scale of power. It was something with so much power and hatred that she didn't dare ever compare her power to it. "... but I'm quite strong in my own right. My daughter is strong, though she isn't mature enough to make use of that strength... so why don't you look after her in the future if she ever needs help?" Yasaka asked Naruto for that favor.

She giggled when he nodded his head the same way that she did, the way his eyes slightly tilted up when he nodded his head, before he closed his eyes to complete his head nodding. It was the same body language one expected of a kitsune, which just really made her feel like she was spending the afternoon with her own flesh and blood.

He just pulled the motherhood instincts right out of her.

"Sure, I'll do what I can." Naruto promised that.

"Great, and Jiraiya said you have been training for awhile now... I'm just curious, but when did you start becoming a ninja... how young were you when your village started to train you?"

"I was about... 4 when I started at the academy, but I failed graduation a few times... Yasaka?" Naruto asked, before he tilted his head in confusion.

Yasaka's grip on the clothes she was picking out turned extremely tight.

'Jiraiya didn't mention he was a child soldier... this sweet boy was forced into the military at such a young age... and according to Jiraiya he was neglected... treated like dirt... and ignored... without a family.' Yasaka's eyes lit up in rage, her pupils becoming fine slits from the sheer cold rage that boiled deep inside of her. She just imagined her own child undergoing the same things that Naruto had to put up with. She was a mother, and thinking of her child being forced to become part of the military, to risk their lives for a cause, just filled her with an otherworldly anger.

She calmed herself down, since Naruto seemed like he was a happy person, so despite his treatment he must have had something to keep him happy and sane. She told herself that mentally to stop the images of her own child in Naruto's situation, because when she looked at Naruto, it was very easy for her to replace him with her own daughter mentally. Imagining what would happen if she had died, and her daughter was treated like trash by society.

Any parent would feel nothing but rage and sadness, the thought of their own child going through such a thing.

"Yasaka."

"Yes sweetheart?" Yasaka asked as she closed her eyes, not allowing the rage in her eyes to show. She could see through the small slits that her eyes had become. She saw that Naruto's own eyes were closed as he grinned at her.

She looked down and noticed that he had grabbed her hand.

"Are you okay?"

...

Her heart melted when she realized that he had noticed her sorrow and rage, and his first instinct had been to ask her if she was okay. He was a child soldier, but he really was such a sweet teenager, that when he saw somebody hurting, his very first instinct was to offer his hand. Even to a woman who was his elder, he wanted to give his hand in help for them.

"No, I'm not okay... I just can't stand how much of a sweetheart you are. It makes me want to keep you to myself... but sadly I can't, Jiraiya is your teacher." Yasaka opened one of her eyes so she could get a closer look at Naruto.

Her heart went out to the boy.

She saw so much of herself in this boy, the way their faces were so kitsune-like and similar. The way their hair was like the sun, and their heart shaped face structures. She was a mother to a daughter who Naruto reminded her of, and his looks were just so similar that it was hard for her motherly instincts to not just kick in.

His chakra.

While the chakra deep inside of him was pure evil, malicious, and like an endless abyss of malice, Naruto's own chakra, his chakra, was bright and pure like the sun. His chakra contained the history of his life, his chakra was tempered in pain and suffering, which made it all the brighter. She was a youkai, sensing chakra was what she did. The way that Naruto just gave off the aura of a person who suffered through so much pain caused her heart to cry, but the way that his smile was just so bright and his chakra so sunny, made her heart beam in pride.

This boy was special.

-Later that Night-

"So what is your-"

*SLAP*

Yasaka slapped Jiraiya the second that he tried to speak with her, tears already gathering at the edges of her eyes. She just needed to spend one day with Naruto for strong feelings to emerge inside of her, and she couldn't deny herself the need to slap somebody.

"... I deserve that."

"No... you didn't... I'm sorry for slapping you, one of the people who loves that boy... but... I had to take it out on somebody." Yasaka apologized as she grit her teeth, wiping her eyes. She had to slap somebody who was part of Naruto's life, somebody, anybody, that she could take her rage on. She saw Jiraiya stand up and take his top off.

He smiled.

"Attack me all you want, I wanted you to spend a day with Naruto so you could understand the depth of his pain... you were angry at me just from hearing stories about his past. Now, you fully understand the kind of boy that was put through that pain... your anger is justified, and you need somebody to take it out on." Jiraiya was willing to take her beating until she was satisfied. He had a strong body, and Yasaka was a mother. He had no doubt that she took this far more personally than others did.

The fact was, that he knew Yasaka just needed to spend one day with Naruto to form a bond with him, because that was who his student was. He formed bonds with people that were so strong that it was almost unreasonable. He attracted people to him, people that became his best friends or his worst enemies.

Yasaka sat down.

"No, I'm not going to attack you... but I want you to explain why you weren't there for him."

"I don't have a reason... I just wasn't there, which is why you should take your anger out on me. I have no excuse."

...

Yasaka actually accepted that answer, it might have been because Jiraiya seemed to genuinely not know the answer, or because he was willing to take her rage, but his answer didn't make her angry. If anything, nothing she did to him would hurt him more than he seemed to hurt himself over how he wasn't there for Naruto.

"No wonder you never became a parent, you would be a horrible parent to a normal child... thankfully, it seems you're a good influence on that child... he's a good boy. He's scary though... the way his aura just makes you want to believe in him... the way he easily worms his way into your heart... his chakra tells such a dark story, but his smile tells a different one... he's a beautiful contradiction... my son is such a good kyuubi..." Yasaka's cheeks turned bright red moments after she spoke those words.

My son is such a good kyuubi.

Jiraiya laughed and sat down.

"He's like my grandson, and to my teammate Tsunade, he's like her grandson... his teacher Iruka considers Naruto to be like a brother... once you've bonded with Naruto, he becomes your family... he's a natural born leader, with charisma that no boy his age should have... lets have a drink, I want to tell you about how he changed a serial killer into a good person..."

-Later that Night-

Yasaka wasn't crying.

She understood though.

"Jinchuriki... The Power of a Human Sacrifice... that's an awful word... and this Gaara boy, he was treated that horribly too... I can't even tell what was worse."

"Naruto thinks Gaara was treated worse than he was, and Gaara also considers Naruto's treatment to be worse. Gaara had a family, siblings who did love him... and people did try to kill him, but his automatic defense stopped all of them... Naruto considers Gaara to have suffered more, but the fact was they understood each other's pain... it's a talent... He doesn't just fight his enemies, he tries to understand them... he wants to understand others." Jiraiya was pink in the cheeks from how much he was drinking.

He was telling Yasaka the true story of Naruto's life.

Unedited.

Every gritty detail, including the things that he had been told from Kakashi. About how much Naruto had suffered, how hard he worked to make any progress in his strength. How many times the boy's life had been put into danger. He might have purposely left out the time he himself put Naruto's life in danger.

"... and he learned to summon toads, to help him fight Gaara, thanks to you teaching him to meditate and focus the kyuubi's chakra." Yasaka smiled at Jiraiya.

He smiled back at her.

...

"... Now tell me the truth." Yasaka didn't buy his lie for a second, her face showing that she knew that he had told her an outright lie.

"I threw him into a canyon... with spikes in it... so deep you can't see the bottom... do or die training."

Yasaka stood up and punched him in the face.

"You deserve that."

"That training works for idiots like me and him... I regret nothing." Jiraiya stated as a black eye started to form in the spot she hit. Do or die training was the best way for idiots like the two of them to learn anything. "Anyway, you don't understand Naruto... teaching him is... a challenge. His brain just works different... if you don't word things in a way he understands, he just doesn't get it... so I've learned that to train Naruto, let him figure stuff out on his own." Jiraiya had been letting Naruto figure things out.

He explained some things, but for the most part he told Naruto to do something, without telling him how to do it. Naruto would eventually figure it out for himself, so there wasn't too much of a point. If Naruto asked a question about why something worked, he would explain that, but he wasn't going to explain how to do it.

"So when are you leaving for Kuoh?"

...

"That soon... you don't want me getting more attached to him." Yasaka stated with disdain. It was a smart move, if she spent much more time with Naruto, there was no way that she would allow him to escape. She would make sure he became part of her family. "... No, he's already part of the family..." Yasaka felt her body, her DNA, every fiber of her motherhood had already accepted that boy as her unofficial son.

He was just so much like a kitsune that her body just reacted, and combined with the stories Jiraiya had told her, and spending time with him, there was no way she wouldn't react to him. She saw that Jiraiya was well aware of this.

"Why?" Yasaka asked.

"Because... even if it was only for a day, I wanted Naruto to experience what it might be like to have a mother. I couldn't think of anyone but you to give him that... and I'm sure Kushina would approve... she would want what was best for her son." Jiraiya didn't smile when he spoke. He knew he was taking advantage of Yasaka, and he had intended to do such from the beginning.

The woman before him didn't seem to be angry.

She smiled.

"Just don't disappear for several years again, I want to see him again soon, and I want to share a drink like this with you again." Yasaka raised her cup to Jiraiya. Her had vanished for 4 years the last time he said he would see her soon. She didn't want him to vanish again, and she wanted to be able to help Naruto grow into a more fine man. "... clearly that boy needs a good female influence in his life, and you won't be able to give him a mother's touch."

Jiraiya started to make a jacking off motion.

"This kind of mother's touch?"

"You idiot pervert... go to bed, you're clearly drunk."

"HAH!"

Yasaka paused when she heard the sound of somebody screaming, so she stood up with Jiraiya following after her. She walked towards the sound, and she went into her garden.

There was Naruto.

Training after waking up, going through taijutsu katas, working up a sweat in himself with a determined look on his face.

"He does this almost every night when he think's I'm asleep... Naruto thinks that just because he's sneaky about this. Kakashi told me that Naruto used to go days without sleep to learn how to walk up trees... Naruto is one of the hardest workers out there. I've literally watched him spend days training nonstop to learn the Rasengan. If I told him to break a boulder with his forehead... he would spend days bashing his head against a rock until the rock broke." Jiraiya explained when Yasaka watched Naruto training with her eyes widening.

Naruto wasn't smiling.

He was purely determined, because he thought everyone was asleep, so he woke up to sneak off and do training. He had no clue that they were awake at the moment.

"That's dangerous."

"Yes, it is... he has a history of literally training until he collapses from exhaustion... because he trains so hard he forgets to eat and sleep. Even now, even tonight after relaxing all day with you. He doesn't understand, but this is part of the reason I don't teach him a bunch of new techniques like he wants... he would train himself to death if he was allowed to... which is why I need to get him into a school." Jiraiya hoped that he could use this as a chance to divert some of Naruto's focus away from training. Naruto was extremely impatient when it came to training, so he needed something, anything, to divide his attention.

Naruto's element training.

Normally it was done with a leaf, but he was giving Naruto a rock to make it harder, and he was allowing Naruto to figure out the secret of the Shadow Clone by himself so that Naruto didn't abuse it and suffer severe mental exhaustion. If he told Naruto about the ways he could get stronger and increase his training, he knew for sure Naruto woudn't stop until he trained himself into the ground.

School was what Naruto needed.

If you're his teacher and don't make him relax, he will train until his body gives out.
If you're his teacher, and you fall asleep, he will sneak out and continue to train until he collapses.
