Hey guys :)
Another chapter. I feel like I am on a roll. Don't get used to it though.
I would like to mention that I found quite a few spelling mistakes in older chapters ( I usually only see some of them once uploaded xD) so I will be editing them and re-upload them at some point. Don't worry the story won't change and nothing new will be added. You won't have to read it all again.
Hope you enjoy this chapter.
Harry Norwood
Chapter 11
"During study group Harry decided to see if he could find some books about the founders, especially Slytherin. It proved to be a rather difficult task. He was browsing the history section when he accidentally bumped into someone. He looked down and saw a young girl with long blond hair and a dreamy look on her face. She was dressed in a Ravenclaw uniform and it appeared that she wore some sort of reddish earrings and a cork neckless. Harry helped her pick up her book that had fallen.
'Magical Illnesses and more' the cover read.
"Are you sick? Can't madam Pomfrey help?" Harry asked confused. He knew it was non of his business but his mouth was quicker than his brain.
"It's for a friend. She's not feeling well. What are you looking for. I know these books pretty well by now maybe I can help? I am Luna by the way." She smiled at him as he handed her the book.
"Just looking for info about the founders. My name is Harry." He answers. He didn't know why but he felt like he could talk to her.
"I am guessing you are interested about the chamber? I tried to look it up myself but found nothing. Maybe you should buy a book from diagon alley. They should have some about the founders." She explained. Harry hadn't thought of that but it sounded like a brilliant idea.
"Do you know if they have any books about psychology?" Harry asked carefully.
"What is that? Why are you looking for it?" She asked confused.
"Psychology is the health of the mind and I am just curious." He tried to hide the true reason.
"Oh well I don't think the library has anything on it but again flourish and blotts might." She replied. She gave him another smile and walked passed him.
"Hey about your friend. Any way I can help?" Harry called after her. Luna turned around.
"I don't know. I don't even know what's wrong with her."
"Who is it by the way?" Harry was curious.
"You don't know her. She's a first year like me. Ginny Weasley." She replied.
"You mean Ron Weasleys sister?" Harry and heard about her before from his friends. Luna nodded. "What is wrong with her?"
"Not sure. She lives nearby and we played often. She's the only one who isn't mean to me or makes fun of me. We were so excited to finally go to Hogwarts but ever since we arrived she hardly talks to me. She hardly talks to anyone. And she seems so distance all the time. Doesn't listen in class and she always has her nose stuck in some diary." Luna explained. With each word she got more and more upset. Harry didn't know what to do.
"I'll help you. Maybe together we have more luck." Luna smiled at him. They agreed to meet in the library the next day after classes. Harry also promised that he would keep an eye out whenever he saw Ginny. That evening Harry borrowed a flourish and blotts order catalogue from one of his house mates. Sure enough there were a few books on the subjects he was looking for. Unfortunately he was only able to afford one of them. He ordered the one about the founders figuring it was a more pressing matter and maybe he could buy the other one over Christmas break. That night was the first night since the beginning of the school year that he had the nightmare again. He woke up at around three in the morning unable to go back to sleep. He meditated some and did some light reading. Eventually he doze off for a bit.
Classes felt longer that day. He was barely able to concentrate. After class he made his way to the library to meet Luna. Unfortunately he didn't have as much time as he had wanted, due to Quidditch practice, but he still wanted to help. Sadly he did not see Ginny once so far.
Practice was a drag with the way he was feeling. The lack of sleep was catching up with him and he nearly fell off his broom at least twice. He had a very quick dinner and excused himself from his friends, hoping to get more sleep that night. He had just arrived at the grand staircase when he bumped into someone. To his luck it was Ginny Weasley. She seemed to be engulfed by a book as she didn't register what had happened. 'There's definitely something up' Harry thought. Even when focused on something one usually noticed when bumping into someone else.
That Saturday morning Harry's order arrived. Excitedly he began reading right there at breakfast. The book was rather interesting. It was divided into 5 sections. One for each of the founders, how they grew up, their achievements, family and so on, and one for the founding of the school. This book was similar to Hogwarts: A History but focused more on the people behind the school than the school itself. Of course Harry wanted to read about all the founders but for now he skipped ahead to Slytherin.
Salazar Slytherin (fl. c. 993) was a pure-blood wizard, noted for his cunning and determination. He was regarded as one of the greatest wizards of the age, respectively as a Parselmouth and as a skilled Legilimens. Slytherin was one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry along with Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw, as well as the namesake of the Slytherin House.
"What is a Parselmouth or a Legilimens?" he asked out loud. His friends looked at him. The muggleborns were just as curious as him now.
"A Parselmouth is someone who can speak with snakes and Legilimens is the art of reading someones mind and seeing their memories." Hannah explained.
"Parseltongue is seen as dark arts and Legilimens is highly illegal especially if used on minors." Susan added.
"Why are you asking?" Ernie asked.
"This book is about the founders and it says that Slytherin was both." the others nodded. Harry made a mental note to research these skills more. After breakfast the group decided to try Myrtles bathroom again. Fortunately she wasn't there. They looked around and saw that some of the toilets and sinks were broken but still had running water. Hannah had heard that Myrtle sometimes likes to flood the bathroom just for fun. That would explain why there was water in the corridor. Harry was just about to take a closer look at the sinks when Myrtle showed up again.
The rest of the day was spend playing games, catching up on studies and reading. Harry meet Luna again and told her of his bump in with Ginny. Luna was also interested if Harry had found out more about the founders. He showed her the book and Luna directed him to some more books in the library. Harry thanked her and started browsing. He found a few and checked them out.
The next day was the big Quidditch match Gryffindor vs. Slytherin. Cedric had the team arrive fifteen minutes before the game to give them a little speech. They were to observe the tactics and skills of the players as well as any little tricks they did. If Slytherin wants to play dirty Cedric would find out all their tricks. As soon as they entered the stands it started raining. Thunder followed quickly. When the teams entered there were two things that stood out. One was the two new seekers. Slytherin had put Malfoy up for the task and Gryffindor had enlisted non other than Grant Potter, who clearly enjoyed the attention. He was also sporting a brand new broom, the nimbus 2001 but that wasn't all. Apparently the entire Slytherin team had new brooms, also the nimbus 2001. This match would surely be interesting. In one of the teachers boxes Harry spotted Grants Parents both proudly decked in Gryffindor colours as well as Malfoy's father looking clearly uninterested.
As soon as the game started, Harry noticed one of the bludgers going after Grant. He nearly would have been hit if it wasn't for one of the Weasley twins. Unfortunately for Grant the bludger tried again. Within minutes Slytherin was leading. The Weasley twins kept following Grant as the blunger won't leave him alone. "That bludger clearly has been fixed." Harry commented loudly. Everyone agreed with him.
"I really hope non of the Slytherins did that. Firstly it's not allowed and secondly we will never be able to counter such thing." Cedric said angrily. At that point Gryffindor called a time-out. Harry could see the team arguing. The game started again not long after. Now the twins left Grant alone. Grant flew around like he was on a rollercoaster, bludger still following him. Then Harry saw it. Apparently Grant saw it too. The snitch was hiding directly behind Malfoy.
Thats when Grant made a big mistake. He flew straight towards Malfoy with such speed the other boy got scared and quickly few down in order not to crash but when he came back up the rouge bludger crashed right into him. The cry Malfoy gave off was heard all over the pitch. He landed on the grass with a thud. Madam Pomfrey immediately carried him out. With all the attention on Malfoy no one knew if Grant had caught the snitch and when they looked back at him they found him still out flying the bludger. The game continued and Slytherin got more and more determinate. They made one goal after another. It was now 120 to 30 for Slytherin.
Harry kept focus on Grant. He had already spotted the snitch but he also didn't have to worry about a rouge bludger trying to kill him. After a few more minutes it seemed as Grant had spotted it too. He quickly made a dive and let the bludger crash into one of the stands before going after the snitch. He was just about to grab it when the bludger crashed into his arm. It was clearly broken. Even with a broken arm, Grant dived for the snitch in time, stopping the bludger from hitting him in the face, falling from the broom but retrieving the snitch and winning the game for Gryffindor.
The crowed went wild as Lee Jordan announced Gryffindor the winner. Grant kept laying on the ground. People ran towards him, while madam Hooch took care of the bludger. Harry couldn't see what was happening on the ground but he was sure he would find out soon.
And Harry was right. At lunch there was no other topic. Apparently Lockhart had used a spell to "heal" Grant broken arm and completely vanished the bones in it. The Potters went mental. He would have to stay in the hospital wing the entire night to re-grow bones, which is very painful. Malfoy wasn't much better though. He had taken the bludger right to his chest and broken quite a few ribs as well as one shoulder. He would be in there for a while. Mr. Malfoy was trying to get Grant expelled for trying to kill his son. Oliver Wood, the Gryffindor captain, as well as the other team members were still complaining about the bludger. Little did they know that things would turn to the worst the next morning.
Another chapter done. Hope you liked it.
