Notes: So sorry for not updating sooner. I hadn't realized how long it had been since I updated. I was also having some writer's block with this story and was working on other fandoms. Here's hoping to quicker updates.
Ten minutes later Ginny, Fred, George, and Ron came out of the room. Bill informed them that their mother and father wanted to see Harry and Buffy. Moody and Tonks walked them in while Ethan stayed with the Weasley children. Upon seeing Buffy and Harry, Molly waved them to come closer. They did come closer, and Mr. Weasley thanked them profusely. When it was obvious the two were uncomfortable at the praise they were receiving, Mrs. Weasley sent them out telling them that she would let the children back in after the adults talked. Buffy and Harry nodded and hurried to be out of the room. Fred and George wanted to use their Extendable Ears to listen to what was being said in their father's room but thought better of it when they remember Ethan standing there.
Once the Weasley children had went back in to see their father, they all soon returned to Grimmauld Place. Joyce and Rupert were there when they had returned and was in the process of making dinner for everyone. Harry and Buffy greeted them with hugs before offering to help. The four of them worked together and it wasn't long before they were bringing the food to the table. Remus, Sirius, and Ethan gathered everyone for dinner.
The next morning when Buffy woke it was still dark out and the house was dark. She knew she was the only one up and thought now would be a good time to work on her gift for Sirius. She quietly gathered what she would need from her trunk that had arrived when they had been visiting Mr. Weasley. As she quietly crept out, she noticed the third bed in the girl's room was now occupied when it hadn't been when she went to sleep. Taking one last look to make sure she didn't wake her roommates; Buffy closed the door quietly and headed downstairs. Using her slayer stealth, she made her way downstairs and quietly set up her work area to work on her Christmas present for Sirius.
Buffy had finished her gift for Sirius just in time. She quickly stashed her supplies and grabbed a schoolbook and sat at the dining table looking like she had been reading. Seconds later Buffy was surprised to see Sirius enter.
"Good morning, you're up early." Buffy greeted him.
"I could say the same about you." Sirius replied.
"Touché, but I don't need much sleep and I'm usually up this early. You're usually not up until there is the smell of food. So, what has you up so early? Just wanted a few moments of quiet before the house erupts into chaos?"
Sirius chuckled at that. The house has been very vibrant since everyone had arrived for their holiday break.
"I was actually looking for the Christmas decorations. It's been a long time since this place has had any good cheer in it. I figure today would be a good day to decorate."
"How about I help you find the decorations and then you can help me make breakfast for everyone?"
"Sounds like a plan." Buffy closed her book and stood to help Sirius look for the Christmas decorations.
Buffy and Sirius had found the Christmas decorations in the cellar and had carried them upstairs to the room that the tree was going in. Upon arriving in the kitchen, Buffy began going through the cabinets to see if they had all the ingredients for what she wanted to make.
"So, what are we making for breakfast?" Sirius asked.
"I was thinking biscuits and gravy, along with bacon and eggs, and crepes. Do you think everyone would like biscuits and gravy?" Buffy asked. She had learned to make it during their summer in the States.
"Yes, once they tried it, they'll love it. Remus, Ethan, and I fell in love with it when you made it during the summer. It's why I made sure Kreacher stocked the pantry with plenty of ingredients for it. I was hoping you would make them for us during holiday break. So, what would you like me to do?"
Buffy gave Sirius step by step instructions on how to make biscuits and gravy. The two worked together on making breakfast.
Mrs. Weasley came down the stairs and quietly snuck passed Mrs. Black portrait. She could smell that someone was cooking breakfast already and headed for the kitchen to offer to help. When she entered the kitchen, she was shocked to see that it was Buffy, Harry, and Sirius.
"Good morning Mrs. Weasley." Harry greeted her.
"Good morning Harry and Buffy. Good morning Sirius. What is all this?"
"This would-be breakfast." Sirius told her grinning. "Buffy, Harry, and I made breakfast for everyone."
"Yes, we made scrambled eggs, bacon, crepes, and biscuits with sausage gravy." Buffy told her.
"Come on Molly, you can help me wake everyone while Harry and Buffy finish breakfast and set the table.
Molly nodded and followed Sirius out of the kitchen to wake the others. Buffy and Harry began setting the table while the biscuits finished baking.
Sirius and Molly had gotten everyone up and to the table just as Buffy and Harry were bringing the last of the biscuits to the table. Once everyone was seated, they all began to fill their plates. Sirius, Remus, and Ethan went straight for the biscuits and gravy first. Rupert and Joyce also had some of the biscuits and gravy. They knew if Buffy made them, they were bound to be good. Once the others had seen how much Remus, Sirius, Ethan, Joyce, Rupert, Harry, and Buffy were enjoying the biscuits and gravy, they tried it. Now everyone was eating and talking. Sirius explained that he wanted to decorate the house and get a tree today. Everyone nodded in agreement that some holiday decorating was just what they needed.
Everyone was just finishing up eating breakfast, when they heard a crashing sound coming from the front entrance. They all waited with baited breaths for the screaming to begin.
What they heard instead shocked almost everyone except Buffy.
"Dearie, are you alright? Did you hurt yourself?" The portrait of Mrs. Black asked instead of screeching.
"I-I-I'm fine." Tonks stuttered in shock at how polite Mrs. Black is being. "Thank you for asking."
They all entered the hall with wide eyes gaping at the portrait of Mrs. Black.
"What are you up to, you old hag?" Sirius asked the portrait.
"Is that any way to talk to your mother? I was merely checking to see if the poor dear is okay." The portrait spoke still maintaining her nice tone.
"You have never been nice not even when you were alive. What game are you playing?"
"I don't know what you're talking about dear."
Sirius opened his mouth to respond back but Buffy spoke first.
"What do you think of your Christmas present Sirius?"
"My Christmas present? What did you do? How did you do it and when did you do it?" Sirius babbled the questions. Everyone turned as Buffy came closer.
"I think that covers all the questions. Ever since we first came here during the summer, I've wanted a crack at that picture. With the trial and all, it kind of got push to the side. So, this morning I came down and Mrs. Black and I had a talk. Well, I talked she screeched until I froze her."
"You froze her?" Tonks asked. Buffy nodded with a huge smile on her face.
"The spell you used in the Tri-Wizarding Tournament?" Remus asked.
"Yes, only with a slight modification. I allowed for her eye to still move so she would be able to see everything and not be to speak or leave the picture. Since I had her attention, I laid down the ground rules and told her to blink once for yes twice for no. I told what was going to happen if she didn't stop yelling and being uncivilized. I reminded her that this was no longer her house as she was dead and the house belonged to Sirius, and that if she couldn't be respectful, she would be removed. This is the result. She has been warned that even after I leave there is a spell that will alert me if she breaks our contract. Three strikes and she's out of here should you so deem it as Master of the house."
"How are you planning on removing her should she get her three strikes?" Hermione asked. "There's a Permanent Stick charm keeping it to the wall."
"True the Permanent Stick charm will keep us from removing the portrait from the wall but what's keeping us from removing that portion of the wall from the house?"
"We've never thought about it like that." Sirius told her. "We've tried everything we could to remove the painting from the wall with no success."
"So, do you like your gift?"
Sirius was stunned by Buffy's gift and couldn't believe what she had done to be able to gift him this.
"I love it. Thank you, Buffy." Sirius said hugging her. Buffy. Sirius looked up at the others. "Your gifts are going to be hard to top that." Sirius teased the others. "Let's go decorate. I'm feeling even more in the holiday spirited then I was a few minutes ago."
Everyone left and headed toward the parlor to begin decorating.
Sirius, Remus, Ethan, and Rupert went to cut down a fresh tree to decorate. Everyone else remained behind and began cleaning and decorating the inside. Joyce and Mrs. Weasley were directing everyone on what need to be done and where things should be hung. An hour later, Sirius, Remus, Ethan, and Rupert came back with a beautiful looking fir tree that almost reached the ceiling. With Christmas music playing and under the guidance of the adults, the children began decorating the tree.
Another chapter complete. It may take a bit to update but I will finish this story.
