Markon was kept in a nice room under guard, the others with him had been given rooms and baths.
Over the next few days until his trial Markon contemplated what had sent him to the wizards side.
He'd been rather jealous he realized, of Sophia and his older brother Hector they were strong and smart and everything Markon felt he himself wasnt.
Markon realized that as he sat heavily upon his bed.
"I'm a fool." He whispered to himself. "Aslan forgive me I've been such a fool." He bowed his head and wept.
Markon was brought before the Five he looked calm and humble in plain clothes and freshly bathed.
The trial was both simple and complex.
The Five listened to evidence both from Markon himself detailing his role as the Wizards helper and how he started to have doubts.
Finally The Five conferred together on how to deal with Markon.
"a traitor may mend." Edmund reminded them.
They ruled that Markon would be helping the refugees build new homes and lives within the surrounding villages he would be monitored by a twenty four seven guard for the span of a year the amount of time he had helped the wizard when that year was over they would reconvene to reassess.
Markon bowed his head accepting his fate humbly.
Edmund threw himself into a chair in the rooms he shared with Sophie.
"are you alright Edmund?" she came over taking his hand.
"I am Love." he smiled at her leaning into her gentle touch. "Are you, that was your brother."
"He is and while I am disappointed in him I hope that he will mend."
Edmund nodded and kissed her hand gently.
"Come my love." Sophie tugged him to his feet. "Come to bed."
"Bed, its...oh." Edmund chuckled following his wife to their bed.
In another room Orius was gently brushing his wife's hair.
"should I cut it?" Serena asked absently "it's so long."
"no." was the immediate answer. "No my love never cut your hair."
"you always end up brushing it for me." Serena pointed out.
"I dont mind, I love it." his hands were very gentle as they slid through the soft thick golden strands.
"are you alright after the trial?" concern touched Orius' voice.
"I think so." Serena said "I think we did the right thing."
Orius kissed the crown of her head.
"I agree my heart." he continued brushing both content.
Peter was reading in his room content for the moment
"We did the right thing." he thought turning a page. He looked up when he heard a knock and smiled when his mother stuck her head round the door he invited her in for a chat.
Susan was organizing a celebration it would be Lucy's birthday soon.
Her Aunt Alberta was proving to be a big help and an enjoyable presence.
Lucy was with Eustace talking to him about the trial and explaining their actions.
The Cair settled down for now but they were ready for any eventuality.
