CRISP
ft. Hannah Abbott
(& Neville Longbottom)

"Happy Autumn, Neville!" Hannah called to her husband as he walked down the drive to their home. She was outside, gardening like usual, pants covered in a layer of mud and stained by grass.

"Happy Autumn, darling!" her husband answered cheerily, stepping off the path even as he shucked off his red Auror robe, tucking it over one arm. "Though, I didn't know 'Happy Autumn' was a thing you wished someone."

"Oh, but it's a very happy autumn already!" Hannah teased, "The leaves are turning, the air is chilling, children laughing, and most importantly; Apples!"

"Apples?" Neville echoed, blinking and looking around the yard.

"Not here, Nev, I wouldn't have been able to surprise you if I'd planted apple trees in our front yard." Hannah laughed, "They're out back. I might have hidden them from you."

"Oh?"

"Might." Hannah emphasized, "I'd hardly dare hide anything from my dear Auror husband, now would I?"

"Sure you wouldn't, darling," Neville said, smiling softly.

"Now come on, I made dessert." Hannah demanded, tugging on her husband's arm.

"Dessert?" Neville repeated, smile morphing into a grin, "We haven't even had dinner yet—"

"Dessert." Hannah said forcefully, "It's been a long time since I've had apple crisp, Nev, don't take it away from me by suggesting dinner first."

"Yes, dear." Neville replied indulgently, "I wouldn't want to mess up your dessert schedule."

"Oh, hush," Hannah swatted his arm, turning it into a hug that got both of their clothes stained with dirt. She squeezed tighter at Neville's half-hearted protests, laughing together when he finally returned the embrace.

"Happy autumn, Hannah." Neville whispered, tucking her head under his chin briefly before gently pushing her ahead of him, "Now, time for apple crisp! Don't think you can keep me away from your delicious dessert!"
