Chapter .3.
The English's guests look at all the different creatures in wonder and some fear. As some of the creatures looked terrifying. There were actual talking animals here. There were bears, tigers, jaguars, panthers, cheetahs, lions, leopards, foxes, wolves, beavers, eagles, hawks and so many more that they would consider 'wild' animals. But each off these animals were talking excitedly.
The other creatures the English would have called mythical until this portal opened. There were Centaurs, Fawns, Minotaur's, Dwarves, Goblins and so many more creatures of legend.
Suddenly the trumpets start playing and a dwarf moves forward with a long list.
"Presenting the Great Rulers of Narnia! His Majesty High King Peter the Magnificent, High King of Narnia, To the Clear Northern Sky, Emperor of the Lone Islands, Lord of Cair Paravel, Knight of the Most Noble Order of the Lion, Sir Peter Wolfsbane, the Eagle King! And her Majesty High Queen Susan the Gentle, High Queen of Narnia, To The Radiant Southern Sun, Archer Queen, Duchess of the Northern Marches, Queen Susan of the Horn, Lady of Cair Paravel. Dame of the Most Noble Order of the Lion, Dove Queen, Princess of Telmar!" the dwarf says.
The English see Peter in a royal blue tunic, wearing beeches and polished black boots. A gold crown sat on his neatly combed hair. On his arm was his sister Susan who was in a violet dress with draping sleeves, that had detailed golden patterns on it. She wore a silver and gold crown on her head and gold bracelets on her wrists.
"Presenting his Majesty King Edmund the Just, To the Great Western Wood, Knight of the Noble Order of the Table, Duke of the Lantern Waste, Lord of Cair Paravel, Fox King! And her Majesty Queen Lucy the Valiant, To the Glistening Eastern Sea Queen Lucy, Healing Queen, Lady of Cair Paravel, Countess of the Lone Islands, Dame of the Most Noble Order of the Lion, Lioness Queen!" the dwarf shouts.
Edmund was wearing a green tunic, wearing beeches with shinning black boots like his brother. A silver crown on his head.
Lucy on his arm was wearing a red velvet gown that flared at the bottom. Delicately embroidered golden and silver flowers, leaves and vines wove over the fabric of the bodice with long sleeves that ended in dags over her hands. A belt held a bottle of some liquid in leather pouch at the front of her belt. On her golden auburn curls were brushed to the side and there was a silver flowery crown on top of her head and silver bracelets on her wrists.
The people from England were shocked at the Four Pevensie's appearance. They see all the Pevensie children wearing amazing dresses and tunics. All wearing gold or silver crowns. Each had many titles but King George noticed they had words to describe them attached to their first names instead of their last names.
Peter was the Magnificent, Susan the Gentle, Edmund the Just, Lucy the Valiant.
They held themselves up high as they walked or glided down the hall to the 4 marble thrones, that were at the back of the hall.
Each went to a specific throne with a symbol of some sort carved on the top. When they were all standing before their throne they all sit down in perfect unison. Something that took them months to get right.
When they sat the herald calls out.
"Long live the Kings! Long Live the Queens! Long Live the Royal Family! Long Live Aslan!" the herald yells.
The cry was echoed throughout the hall.
Suddenly the Kings and Queens were covered in gold light. Cries of alarm go through the whole room. Narnian's tried to go forward but they were stuck in place. But they desperately wanted to go aid their beloved Monarchs.
The English were terrified. Helen tried to go forward but she too couldn't move.
But suddenly laughter from the light echoes through the room.
"My Kings and Queen we are ourselves again!" a voice calls in delight.
The light disappears and the English gasp while the Narnian's cheered in absolute delight. Before the whole crowd now on their thrones were adults. The youngest Lucy looked to be in her early twenties. And all the Monarchs were now in their adult finery. Instead of the childhood gowns that their servants dug up for them. Susan and Lucy now had earrings in their ears to match their now adult finery.
Helen's eyes had widen as she placed the adults as her children, who had been children just minutes ago and now they all were adults grinning widely from their thrones. Lucy and Edmund looked so grown up and so do Peter and Susan as well. But Lucy had filled out and her lovely hair was done up but now Helen could tell it would reach down her back if left undone.
Edmund no longer looked like a boy. His ebony hair neatly combed but a big longer. His were twinkled merrily in amusement.
Susan was truly a beautiful woman. One of the most beautiful Helen had even seen. Her ink black locks looked like they could reach her feet if her hair wasn't done up.
Peter was truly a man. Small beard and his hair was a little longer like Edmund's.
They looked every inch Kings and Queens.
King George had to rub his eyes to make sure he was seeing things correctly. The children monarchs that had been on the 4 thrones were now all adults. He could see the features of the children in the adults they had become. The story they told were true! They had been ruling as adults and this was the proof! He hoped because of the fact they didn't really know about magic that himself, his family and his Prime Minister hadn't offended the Monarchs of this Powerful Country.
Queen Elizabeth Bowles-Lyon was shocked that the children she had been thinking so little off all this time were in fact adults! They had been telling the truth! Oh how embarrassed she was.
Queen Mother Mary held her hand over her heart in shock. This was impossible. She didn't believe when they first met that those children had been adults and ruled but now she had proof. Oh dear she realised she scoffed out loud at the Narnian Royal's stories. Oh she hoped she hadn't made a bad impression. She would have to try and fix that now she would be staying here.
Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret were shocked at the Pevensie's change. Princess Elizabeth really hadn't believed those kids were adults once. But now she didn't have a choice. She wanted to understand how they had been children one minute and adults the next. Was it magic? Did it really exist like these mythical creatures that were around the room? She was going to have to try and see these adults as adults now.
Princess Margaret thought all of this was amazing. She loved the fact that magic existed and that these mythical creatures truly lived. She was amazed how quick the children she thought the Narnian Monarchs were, were now in fact truly adults. She wonder if they could explain how that worked.
Churchill didn't know what to do now. He had been a fool to not listen to the Centaur when he had told him they had indeed been adults before. Now he owned these Monarchs an apology. He just hoped that he and the Royal family didn't ruin their chances of help.
The Royals were grinning they now could rule again and have the English listen to them as adults! And the best part for all of them was they didn't have to grow up again! And they were married with children they could be together properly with their spouse and raise their children easily now as opposed to trying to raise children as children themselves.
The Royals also enjoyed how happy their people appeared to be now that they were fully back in their full capacity. Something they would have had to wait years to get back too if this didn't happen. Now they could ALL preform the duties they needed too. And rely on each other to help out at each others duties again. Including in the Narnian Army. Which would be helpful in this war.
The Monarchs calm down from their excitement. And Peter stands and the hall goes dead silent for the High King.
"Praise be to Aslan!" King Peter cries.
"Praise be to Aslan!" the crowd repeats.
"My beloved people of Narnia. My fellow Monarchs and I would like to apologies for leaving you all several months ago", King Peter starts to everyone, "While hunting the fabled White Stag. Our family came across the portal that lead us to you all, all those years ago"
"Not recognising it for what it was we stumbled through it and the portal closed behind us", Queen Susan continues standing up, "As soon as we fell through, we reverted to the ages you all first saw us. We became children again"
"But our minds stayed as adults with all the knowledge we had from the 15 years of our rule here. In our homeland only seconds had past instead of the 15 years here", King Edmund continues.
"We had faith that Great Golden Lion Aslan would return us too you at the proper time. So we bided our time in our Homeland of England", Queen Lucy continues standing up.
"When we heard of the portal we travelled as quickly as we could to it and with it to find all of you", King Peter continues the story.
"When we learned we had a way back. We bought with us some more of our family. As well as some guests that will be staying here to the War in their land is over", Queen Susan tells them.
"On that not we would like to introduce you to our Mother Helen Pevensie", Queen Lucy says gently leading her Mother up.
Who tried not to look too scared.
Everyone claps and cheers loudly for the mother of their beloved Monarchs.
Helen couldn't believe that Lucy was now as tall as her. It was quite the shock to her.
"Our father John Pevensie will be joining us from the frontlines of the War in the land of our birth. We hope they will stay forever in our beloved Cair and the Country of Narnia", Queen Lucy finishes letting her mother go back to her place as the clapping stopped.
Queen Susan now takes her Uncle, Aunt and Cousin up.
"These three people are our Uncle Harold, Aunt Alberta and Cousin Eustace Scrubb. Who we also hope to stay indefinitely here in Cair Paravel. And be treated nicely as they now are guests and family our/your monarchs", Queen Susan tells everyone leading Harold, Alberta and Eustace up before the three quickly move back to where they were before.
Everyone claps politely again.
"We have the Students of two of our homelands schools with us tonight. Please welcome the student of Hendon House for Boys and St Finbars for Girls with their teachers and some of their parents", Queen Lucy says gesturing to the groups of English people that stood at the side of the Great Hall.
Everyone claps for their guests. The Students and Adults didn't know what to do with that. They were still in shock about everything that had happened. And Mr Reynolds was barely supressing a scowl as he looking at the Rulers of Narnia now as adults.
"On another note we have honoured guests joining with us tonight. May I present his Majesty King George the Sixth of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and all other territories. With his wife Queen Consort Elizabeth Bowles-Lyon", King Peter announces.
Queen Susan leads the Royal Family forward. As the gathered crowd claps politely.
"Also we have with us the Prime Minister of Great Britain Sir Winston Churchill who is also joining us here tonight", King Peter tells everyone.
Again the crowd clap.
"The final three will be staying in our beloved Cair till the war in their homeland is over. And will be honoured guests of the Royal Family", King Edmund says softly.
"I present her Majesty Queen Mary, the Queen Mother", Queen Lucy says helping Queen Mother Mary forward.
Everyone claps again in welcome to Queen Mother Mary.
"And lastly, but not least I present their Highnesses Crown Princess Elizabeth, heir of King George and her sister Princess Margaret. Who both will be staying in the Cair as honoured guests of us the Kings and Queens of Narnia. So treat them with respect. If we find out any disrespect is given to our esteemed guests the perpetrator will face the combine wrath of the Royal Family", King Peter declares
Everyone claps for the Princesses who blush at the attention of so many strange beings.
"My Royal Siblings and I have discussed how to make the Princesses and Queen Mother welcome along with our family. Know they by dinner time tomorrow. Our esteem guests and family will be claimed by a member of this Royal Family. And they will become mentors and guides to each of the people who are our esteem guests in the Cair or new permeant residents. If you see them in any trouble please inform their mentor. The mentors will be announced at dinner time tomorrow", King Peter degrees and informs everyone.
King George was shocked that the Narnian Royals were going to do such a thing for his daughters and mother. Even after not actually meeting them that long ago.
"Now that the speeches are done. There is much food to be had, fine mead to drink and good cheer and celebration to be had! Praise be to Aslan!" Peter calls to everyone.
"Praise be to Aslan! Praise the Royal Family!" the crowd calls back.
The Narnian Royals get up from their thrones and make their way to the Head Table. The Four Rulers spread throughout their guests and people.
Soon food and drink where flowing and conversation had started up around the guests of the Royal Narnian Family.
The English guests with at least three or four Narnian Royals near them were encouraged to ask questions about Narnia and the people they were sitting with. Queen Lucy was helping them find some answers to their questions.
Churchill found he was enjoying conversation with King Edmund and General Oreius about military tactics. Churchill found King Edmund was like his political opponent. Churchill pegged King Edmund as one of the Narnian Royals, rulers that could turn any political situation into the favour of his family. So Churchill knew he would have to watch out for King Edmund. The other royals he didn't know what to think of them at the moment.
Queen Mother Mary was having a nice conversation with Queen Lucy. Who was calmly explained some of the History of Narnia too.
Some Dryads were happily talking to Princess Margaret answering the girls questions with kindness. Mr Tumnus also was happy to talk to the bubbly Princess.
Princess Elizabeth was actually enjoying talking to Prince Edmund who was juggling talking to her and Sir Churchill very well. She was asking him questions how it was to rule at such a young age and how do they handle it.
Helen was talking to Queen Susan who was calmly explaining some things to her Mother. Helen had to stop herself from telling her children off for drinking alcohol. But Queen Susan calmly explained that 16 was the 'legal' limit if they had one. And she pointed out to her Mother they were all quite old enough both physically and mentally to handle it. She told her mother they didn't drink much as the Monarchs of their Country with foreign dignities here they really shouldn't get drunk otherwise it would set a poor example. Or it might embarrass their beloved country.
Helen was trying to figure out why her children were staring at certain people every few minutes. Those looks they shared were those of love. Could her children be involved with these people they shared glances at? She didn't know what to think if it was real.
Queen Susan besides talking to her Mother was talking to Queen Elizabeth Bowles-Lyon about some of the different customs here and answering the foreign Queens questions about what her daughters would learn here.
The Pevensie Royals could see their Aunt and Cousin looked like they weren't liking their time here.
High King Peter was talking to King George VI as he asked Peter how he coped with a throne they weren't prepared to take. The High King of Narnia explained how they did it but only with the help of their loyal friends and advisors.
When King Peter saw the food was about gone he called for the tables to be taken away and for the dancing to commence.
The starting dance were the Narnian Royals dancing with each other. A dance that had been made for them several years ago when the younger Royals started to dance. Now they all danced together at the opening of any celebration.
It was a enjoy for all the Narnian's to watch their Kings and Queens spin and twirl around each other. The second dance was the dance the Narnian Royal's danced with their spouses. Not that any of the English knew that.
When the two official opening dances where down everyone started to go up to dance. King Peter asked Queen Elizabeth Bowles-Lyon to dance. Queen Susan offer herself to dance with King George VI. Prince Consort Caspian (Susan's Husband) offered his hand to Princess Elizabeth for a dance, while Tumnus (Lucy's partner) offered to dance with Princess Margaret. Queen Lilliandil (Peter's Wife) offered herself to dance with the Prime Minister of England.
Queen Mother Mary declined offers to dance just wanting to watch for now.
While King Edmund had escorted his mother to the dance floor.
"You look amazing Mother", King Edmund tells her as they dance.
"Thank you. I still can't believe this", Helen replies.
"I know. It took some time for it to sink in for us too when we first were crowned", King Edmund informed her.
"What was those two dances at the start?" Helen asks.
"The first one is for the Royal Monarchs of Narnia. Each King is paired with a Sister Queen", King Edmund explains.
"And the second dance?" Helen asks.
Kind Edmund didn't think his Mother was ready to know what the dance was yet.
"The second dance is special. You will find out why over time", King Edmund replies delicately.
"What are you hiding?" Helen asks.
"Mother all will be revealed in time", King Edmund tells her wisely.
"When did you become so…", Helen hesitant.
"Grown up?" King Edmund suggests.
"That and wise with kindness and compassion. I have seen you also put others before yourself. When did this happen?" Helena asks.
King Edmund sighs this wasn't the time. As they were meant to be celebrating. His betrayal always hurt him to remember.
"Mother this night is for celebration. If I told you why and how I changed it would ruin the mood of this Celebration Ball", King Edmund replies.
"You will tell me though?" Helen asks as the song comes to an end.
"Of course. You and all the family. Just not now", King Edmund replies.
"Cou…", Helen starts wanting to know at least a little bit.
But King Peter comes up.
"May I have this dance Mother?" King Peter asks having seen his brother was in need of an escape.
"Of course", Helen replies knowing better then to say no.
The ball lasted to midnight. With all the Royal Narnian's taking turns dancing with the Royal Family of England and the Prime Minister. Also the Kings had all danced with their Mother a couple of times as they checked to make sure she was ok.
After much cheer King Peter closed the ball thanking everyone for the warm welcome back. Before sending everyone to bed.
The Royal Narnian Family knew they were going to need as much sleep as they could get. Tomorrow would be a long day of briefing, royal duties and several big decisions that needed to be made as when as a couple of them would have to escort King George, Queen Elizabeth and Minister Churchill back to the portal and sort out the guarding of the portal situation.
Yes the morning and the day where going to be very busy indeed…
