J. J. was only 7 months old and he had learned how to crawl.
He placed a chubby hand on the carpet, followed by the other, then pulled his leg forward and placed his knee on the floor, then the other knee. He continued this motion.
He crawled through the Hall of Mayors, where he found his binky.
The hallway, where he found a spare sock that fell from the laundry basket during one of Daddy's trips from the laundry room.
The bathroom, where the cute little baby tried to open the cabinets beneath the sinks to explore, but they couldn't open because of the child-proof locks.
The living room, where he took interest in the tv remote and tried to eat it, but a sister swiped it from him to change the channel.
Finally, J. J. decided to crawl to the kitchen. He had been in here many times before and he knew that's where Mommy usually was.
Instead, he found Daddy at the counter, with the strange device that all adults in his family had, and it was playing a video. Daddy was using one hand to swipe the screen to play something called a "video".
Turning his head to face the screen once in a while, Daddy chopped ingredients and placed them to the side.
J. J. watched until Ned felt like he was being watched. He turned and saw the baby. His face brightened up.
"Well, hello! Do you wanna watch Daddy cook?"
Ned picked up J. J. and placed him in his highchair. With a sprinkle of whoberry flavored baby puff snacks, J. J. watched his daddy.
Using something called a "don't touch that, it's sharp!" or "no no no, owie!", Daddy sliced through some long green thing into circles, then cut another long orange thing into squares. A red ball was diced before being placed in a bowl.
A giant bowl of salad was placed on the table, along with more bowls of salad.
J. J. jumped as the big hot white thing called a "don't crawl near the oven", let out a loud buzz. Ned turned off the timer and opened the oven to take out the many large trays of fries and chicken nuggets.
Sliding them onto a serving platter, lunch was ready.
"Kids! Lunchtime!"
J. J. was really good at picking up food with his hands to feed himself now and he was working on actually getting food in his mouth and not on his bib. Unless mommy spooned mush into his gummy mouth, or allowed her baby to suckle at her breasts, all of his food was finger food and easy to pick up.
But Mommy was at work, so her breasts were not on the menu today. So daddy spooned strawberry apple sauce into the baby's mouth in between bites of his own food.
After lunch, Ned picked up J. J. and carried him upstairs.
"Off with the dirty diaper!" Ned said as he ripped open his son's diaper.
Unlike when JoJo and some of his daughters were babies, J. J. would stay still as he was being cleaned. Ned was lucky that J. J. was a calm baby for the most part.
Taking a wipe from the wipey warmer, he gently wiped his son down. Sally bought the wipey warmer after J. J. came back home from the hospital. She didn't want him to get a chill after his brush with Whoronoavirus. Doctors told them he just had a bad cold and he recovered. J. J.'s lungs were tender, pink and spotless and weren't effected by this disease.
"I think it's someone's naptime!" Ned said as he buttoned up pajamas on the yawning babe.
J. J. couldn't keep his eyes open as his daddy placed him in his crib. The curtains were drawn closed and the baby monitor was turned on.
Within a few minutes, J. J. was asleep, allowing his brain to process everything he witnessed.
