So finally, after so many months, a proper new part of the 'Heroes' series, and this one will be the Darkseid story.
Now like I had said before, here I've made the 'Snyder Cut' of the Justice League canon for this series, but Barry's time-travel bit never happened, so basically he managed to give Vic what was needed in the first attempt, and that's how it went.
I say that because Barry-Blue was never that fast in my verse, and I brought him in long before the Snyder Cut actually came out, so making him that fast would make me have to change a lot of stuff.
And I would like to thank Brainstorm Sorcerer, adam199118, Bl4ckHunter and Arrowverse Fan 217 very much for their help with this one.
Some of this is based on 'Justice League: War'.
Anyway, here we go.
Chapter 1- And it comes again
Earth-50, Gotham City
In a bus, 2 children were watching a news report on the tablet as the reporter said. "We have some footage about who is behind the series of abductions in Gotham City. Warning, footage may be too mature for younger audiences."
Then a man was shown taking money out of his ATM before a dark figure resembling Batman rushed through the area, taking the man away with it.
"Is the Batman a kidnapper now?"
The older boy kept replaying the abduction bit as the younger begged. "Stop it, Max, please, it's scary."
The older one, called Max, mocked the younger one. "I'm Batman, and I have come to suck your blood."
The younger one groaned as Max laughed at his expense.
A woman rushed to the bus, having reached the bus stop a second too late as the bus was already gone. "Stop the bus!" But the bus was already gone. "Ah! Goddamn it!"
Then suddenly a dark figure grabbed her as she screamed, and she was scooped up onto a building, screaming as the figure made away with her.
Unseen to them both, a green glowing man in a suit was now flying after them.
As the dark figure was about to abscond with the woman, the man in the suit flew in front of it. He was Hal Jordan! A relatively fresh Green Lantern who had now been assigned to this sector, which he did not mind as it was his home after all.
"Going somewhere, buddy?" Hal asked the figure with a smirk.
The figure rushed off as Hal said. "All right, you wanna dance? Let's dance!"
Hal used his Ring, creating a green dragon that surrounded the figure and the woman with its body as Hal shrugged. "Your move, precious."
The figure instead picked up the woman as Hal begged. "No, no don't!"
And with that, it hurled the woman down onto the street as she screamed in pure terror, thinking her life as going to be over as soon as her body hit the curb and turned into a bloody splatter.
Hal used his Ring to create hand that caught the woman, then wrapped around her in the form of a green elevator, and he flew up with the elevator, putting it up on the rooftop, as the elevator bell made a dinging sound and the door opened, the woman walking out.
"You-you saved me!" She said to Hal gratefully.
"Sure did", Hal smirked.
"So, what's the catch?"
"What?"
"How much am I supposed to pay you?" She then asked him.
Hal groaned and told her. "You're welcome."
With that, he flew off as she asked him. "How am I supposed to get down from here now?"
Hal then flew around and hovered in the air as he folded his arms. "Now, where did that creepy crawly get to?"
In that moment, the figure lunged at him from behind with a roar, sending them tackling through a board over a building, and crashing to the ground as some fire was lit around too.
Hal groaned and looked up at the creature, now wearing some kind of armor as the burning flames did not affect it at all, even though some of them were on it.
"High-tech armor, huh?" Hal asked with a sigh.
The creature picked him up as Hal said. "You're gonna have to do better than that."
And then it punched him multiple times before throwing him off onto the top of another building where he lay, wounded, and muttered. "Okay, that would definitely be better."
The creature then pinned him down with its foot as he gasped when suddenly a figure swung into it, sending them both flying onto another building.
It was Batman! (Or Detective, as the Earth-50 is called for differentiation from the other versions).
Detective grasped the thing by the throat and demanded. "What were you doing there on the docks? I want answers!"
The creature opened its mouth to reveal flames as Detective jumped back to avoid those, and tried to avoid another blast of flames but was sent crashing to the ground and rolling away.
He got back up but got a punch to the face, sending him down, and the creature marched to him when a green light glowed behind it, then the whistle of a train engine was heard.
Detective rolled away as the creature turned around, only for a green train to crash into it, sending it down and shattering a lot of debris, as it was weakened now.
Detective got up as Hal shined his light on him. "Oh hey Batman, nice to meet you."
"Turn it off", Detective demanded. "Before all of them see us?"
"Before who sees us?" Hal asked when a flashlight shone on them both and they turned to see helicopters there.
"This is GCPD, put your hands in the air!"
Hal did and said. "They're afraid of us."
"It is necessary in my case", Detective said. Gordon had not approved this but had been overruled by the Mayor to placate the population.
Suddenly, the creature got up and breathed flames as both avoided, and then it leapt up into the air and sprouted wings, flying off as Detective fired his grapple hook at its feet to fly with it. "Take your glowstick and go home! Gotham's mine!"
Detective now flew with the thing as Hal flew alongside him. "But this entire Space Sector is under me! I'm serious! I'm a Green Lantern damn it!"
Detective hung as the creature flew, and Hal tried to fire as it dodged, then turned around to breathe flames and Detective had to weave to avoid as Hal blocked with his barrier.
The chase continued, with Detective hanging over the streets as he ran over the cars, and then smashed some windows too, before they ended up on a rooftop as he used another grapple hook to tie to a chimney, and attached it with his previous one, making the creature stop.
It then roared and tugged, shattering the hole chimney, but was trapped in a contraption by Hal, but it broke away, crashing into the ground and making a hole as it went into the sewers.
Detective and Hal stood over the hole as Hal asked. "So what's it doing in Gotham?"
"Witnesses spotted it planting a bomb downtown, when the cops confronted it, it spewed fire out of its mouth", Detective informed.
"Yeah, I noticed, but fire is no problem for me", Hal boasted, hovering behind Detective. "As I was saying, Green Lantern can do anything."
"Except shut up, apparently."
Wow, someone forgot to take their True Blood tonight", Hal quipped.
"I'm not a Vampire", Detective shrugged.
"Seriously?" Hal asked. "I thought with the darkness and the vanishing, and the, what, super strength?"
"No."
"I had heard rumors you were a Vampire now."
"Wrong clearly."
"Can you fly?"
"In a plane."
"Wait, you're not just some guy in a bat costume, are you?" Hal finally asked, not believing that a hero as great and feared as this was just a normal human being.
Detective turned around to face Hal and gave a smirk, which was all the answer he needed.
"Are you freaking kidding me?" Hal asked, and got not response so he continued. "What, nobody asked you to prom... ...so now you dress as a bat and prowl around your parents' basement?"
Suddenly, Detective held up Hal's Ring in his hand, shocking him. "What's this do?"
"Huh?" Hal said in surprise as he turned back to normal.
Detective walked forwards with the Ring in hand, examining it. "No buttons. I assume it works off concentration."
"How did you do that?" Hal then asked.
"You weren't concentrating", Detective shrugged as Hal took the Ring back and wore it, becoming the Green Lantern again.
"You won't do that again", Hal warned him.
"Unless I want to", Detective shrugged.
"That's it. Let's rumba, spooky", Hal said, only for Detective to push them onto the wall, though his intentions weren't malicious.
He held a finger to his lips. "Shh."
They turned a corner and saw the armored creature having put something like a box on the wall.
"Hold fast. We need more info", Detective warned.
"Bull crap", Hal said. "That's a bomb and he just armed it."
He flew towards it as Detective said. "Lantern, wait."
But he was too late as the thing turned and snarled. "For Darkseid."
"Darkseid?" Hal asked in horror, knowing of him.
"Darkseid", Detective said grimly, realizing the being of Darkness was unleashing his plan after all.
Then there was an explosion, but as the flames and smoke cleared, a green safe was seen in the air, and it opened to reveal Detective and Hal inside, and they walked out as Detective noted. "It must be a Parademon in disguise then. It wanted to take us with it." He looked at the box. "All to protect this."
"I'm on it", Hal said. "Ring, scan and identify."
"Initiating scan."
Then it said. "Processing."
Then it finally said. "Unable to identify."
"That's impossible. The Ring knows what the Guardians know and the Guardians know everything", Hal said.
"It looks different, but it might be a new kind of Mother Box", Detective said grimly. "Considering Darkseid is involved."
"You lot defeated his forces a good while ago, didn't you?" Hal asked and got a nod.
"I think this is bigger than any of us think", Detective said. "Darkseid is back, and he plans to unleash his full might and fury."
And that's Chapter 1 done, and thank you to Brainstorm Sorcerer for the title too.
Obviously, these are new kinds of Mother Boxes with different looks and even different characteristics, hence Hal's Ring couldn't scan 'em.
Hal Jordan will be played by Sam Benjamin who was supposed to play Hal in the DCEU.
Hope all enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter, people.
