Chapter 5- Nightmare to you
Earth-50, Metropolis
"I am….Darkseid!"
And in that moment, a breach opened as out flew Kal and rammed into Darkseid, sending him flying off as Ollie fired an arrow, getting three Parademons when it split, and then Knight fired his grapple hook at one, swinging at it and taking it down as Wonder Woman leapt out, slicing 5 Parademons at once.
Kara Kent flew and rammed into multiple Parademons, taking them all out effortlessly with her strength and speed.
John Jones flew around, inducing sleep in 2 of the Parademons, and Tess Mercer fired her cyclones, getting some more, with Booster Gold flying out and sending a Parademon flying off with his energy blast.
Dinah Lance screamed, making many Parademons screech as they were taken down while Zatanna chanted. "eriF cigam!"
Bolts of magic shot out, striking more Parademons, with Cyborg firing shockwaves to take on more, and AC rode on a wave, scattering most of them here and there while John Stewart formed a machine gun and fired, killing even more.
Chloe used her guns to take down some while flip kicking a Parademon away, as Lois struck one and flipped it down before using a sword to take it out.
Bart Allen ran, using his speed to grab a Parademon and put it front of the flames of another, then grabbed another and put it on top of the one firing flames, giving him a slight push, then he sped off as the Parademon he'd put in the way of the flames was burnt, and the one he'd pushed fell on the one spewing flames, and both fell down, the flames burning them both.
Barry-Blue then sped next to them as Detective commented. "Was wondering where you went."
"Not to worry, help is here now", Ollie assured as Darkseid got back up and glared at them.
He then saw Kal, Ollie and Lois and sneered. "You…"
"Yeah, remember us?" Ollie asked.
"I remember we once made a deal", Darkseid said to Kal.
"Hard times, desperate situation, doesn't mean we are going to work together again, because right now, the only threat I see is you", Kal shrugged.
"So be it", Darkseid shrugged as the Female Furies arrived, led by Granny Goodness, who gave Tess a sick smirk, making Tess prepared to take her down, and with that, it began.
Darkseid fired his Omega Beams as they dodged, and then Hal used his Ring to form a barrier, beating down some Parademons with Stewart using his Ring to form a hammer, taking even more down.
"You a Green Lantern too, eh?" Hal asked. "Name's Hal Jordan."
Stewart's face betrayed some emotion at the mention before he steeled himself. "John Stewart. Come on, man."
Shazam fired lightning at a Parademon as Wonder Woman and Prince took some foes down in quick succession, and Tess fired cyclones at Goodness who used her telekinesis to deflect them to a side.
"Come on, together", Arthur said.
"Sure bro", AC nodded as the two of them struck the water with their tridents and it rose, forming a wave around Darkseid as they enveloped it around him, then Bart and Barry-Blue sped forth, running around it as it rose into a water tornado, and the two speedsters then punched him from either side.
Bart then kicked his face twice at full speed before both ran off as Darkseid screamed, sending the waves away as Arthur and AC fell back, and he fired Omega Beams at both the running speedsters, but they ran to avoid it.
Shazam flew at Darkseid, punching him a few times before he was sent flying off and hit by the beams, making him fall down, then both the Cyborgs flew around, firing at him together before his Omega Beams chased them, and they flew off, destroying one Parademon in the way each, and as the beams almost hit them, Wonder Woman and Prince deflected those, saving the two of them.
Booster Gold fired at Goodness as she deflected before Tess rammed into her, sending her into the ground. Lois then tried to strike her but she blocked and hurled her away while deflecting Chloe's bullets, then Ollie fired his arrow and it exploded on her but she was still unaffected.
"This sucks", Chloe muttered.
"Tell me about it", Ollie sighed as he shot at another Parademon, taking it and various more down when his arrow emanated a shockwave.
"Need some help here", Lois said as she was telekinetically lifted up by Goodness, but Tess fired a cyclone at her from behind, taking her down again.
"You've come so far, my dear", Goodness said to Tess.
"No thanks to you", Tess snarled at her as she flew off to avoid a blast, then fired another cyclone which was deflected.
Darkseid was hit from behind by a powerful blast from both Hal and Stewart, which sent him flying across the water as Hal said. "Yeah, take that!"
"My Hal was not this arrogant", Stewart muttered.
"What are you even talking about?" Hal asked him.
"My Hal, he was cocky too, but it was left at the door in situations like this, when it really mattered, he was a hero first, celebrity at a very, very distant second", Stewart told him. "Care more about people and the job, my friend, not your reputation."
That seemed to at least inspire something in Hal momentarily as Darkseid now charged them again and Hal said. "Come on!"
They formed machine guns and used those to fire at Darkseid but he was not affected by all the shots and got behind them.
They made barriers but he shattered them effortlessly with a punch each as both were sent flying into the water.
John Jones held out his palm and fired some powerful fireballs which made Darkseid grunt in pain while he said. "Your reign of terror ends here."
"No", Darkseid snarled as J'onn grabbed him by the sides of the head but was thrown off as Jones avoided and sped at him, but he was kicked back too.
Shazam then punched Darkseid twice though he was unaffected, then Shazam flew off as Wonder Woman leapt at Darkseid, sending him down but he hurled her off at the last minute as she landed and Prince stepped next to her.
"You will not take this world", Wonder Woman snarled.
"This world is mine", Darkseid simply said.
They wrapped their lassos around him but he pulled them off and threw them into a corner.
As Goodness was about to fire at Tess again, Kara did a thunderclap, sending her flying off by many feet as the shockwave shattered some glass here and there, and Goodness fell down with a groan.
Detective and Knight used their grapple guns to pull down Parademons and throw them off as Ollie took down another with his arrow. "Problem?"
"Not really", Knight shrugged.
"You can use my bow if you want", Ollie quipped.
"Not my style", Detective said.
"Fine, have it your way", Ollie smirked.
As another Parademon charged, Knight used a weapon he'd taken off of one to hurl it away as Detective flip kicked another, with Ollie smacking another with his bow, then planting an arrow on it and jumping off as it exploded.
They ran, continuing to fire around.
At the apartment, Lane screamed a Boom Tube opened but Barry-Blue was already prepared and sped into the place, speeding her away from there and onto a building near the fight. As stupid as it sounded, she was safe closer to the fight than away from it.
"Stay here", Barry-Blue said.
Lane nodded and said. "If any Parademon comes near, I'll fight it."
"Sure", Barry-Blue nodded as he sped off while Clark flew next to her.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Yeah", she said. "Your friend saved me."
"I'll have to thank him properly for this, wouldn't have made it in time", Clark said grimly before they shared a kiss, and he said. "Stay here and be safe."
She nodded as he flew off and then tried to punch Darkseid, but his punch was blocked as he got punched back instead.
He tried to get up as Darkseid kicked him away, and then Darkseid marched to him. "Your friends and you shall all fall before my might."
He punched Clark a few times once more before kneeing him, and joining his fists, brought them down on Clark's head as he fell down with a groan.
"Super or otherwise, you're merely a man", Darkseid said as he lifted Clark up. "And I am a God."
He brought Clark down on his knee, making him scream in pain, and threw him away as he groaned. "It's all hopeless."
Then Kal flew at him and punched his face, sending him flying back. "You lost to a Superman once before, remember?"
As Darkseid got up, Kal punched his abdomen, then grabbed him by the throat. "And no Superman shall quit as he still draws breath. None of our teammates will either. And me? I've got a different problem."
He punched Darkseid again, slowly breaking the wall behind Darkseid due to the shockwave of the punch, and he punched Darkseid many more times before sending him flying through the wall onto the ground.
Darkseid groaned and got up as Kal marched to him.
"I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard, always taking constant care not to break something, to break someone, never allowing myself to lose control, even for a moment or someone could die."
Darkseid tried to punch but was blocked as Kal punched him back by a few feet again, and Kal marched to him. "But you can take it, can't you big man? What we have here is a rare opportunity for me to cut lose, and show you just how powerful I really am."
He took a pose and charged again, flying at Darkseid and punching him with a loud roar, which broke stuff nearby due to another shockwave while Darkseid flew into the air, and crashed through every single tower he had conjured in a line.
Kal was already on the other side and joining both fists, he struck Darkseid hard on the head, sending him crashing onto the ground, making a crater as Darkseid lay there.
He then flew down and asked. "Had enough?"
"Not quite yet", Darkseid said as he got back up, and as Kal charged, he fired some kind of energy field on him, making Kal scream in pain as he went down due to how bad it was.
"It's called the Agony Matrix", Darkseid described it as Kal screamed in pain. "Direct neural stimulation of the pain centers. All of them at once, imagine the worst thing you ever felt in your life, times a full thousand, and now imagine that pain continuing….forever."
Darkseid then looked down at the struggling Kal and said. "On that's right, you don't have to imagine."
Clark had been inspired by his more powerful counterpart's speech and now he rammed into Darkseid from the side, sending him flying off as he groaned, then Clark punched his face multiple times before kicking it, then lifted him by the throat and sent him off, and then flew at him again when the Beams struck him, taking him down.
Suddenly, Prince wrapped his throat from behind in her lasso and as he struggled, she climbed on him. He fired his Omega Beams which reversed course to hit Prince but she managed to deflect with her sword, and raising it, stabbed Darkseid's right eye, making him scream in pain before she leapt while Hal and Stewart hit him with a combined blast, sending him flying off once more.
Prince landed next to them along with Jones and J'onn and said. "One eye down, one to go."
"Let's do it", Jones shrugged as Darkseid glared with his one eye, blood pouring from the other one, but then he smirked as he flew at Prince, grabbing her throat and slamming her through various buildings, and threw her down, punching her multiple times.
Bart and Barry-Blue then sped at him from either side, punching him as Bart taunted. "Catch me, bro, wait you can't!"
Barry-Blue rushed at him again but Darkseid managed to time it right and avoid, and sent him flying off, then fired one Omega Beam but Bart ran in the way, making it lock onto him, and then ran around, avoiding it while weaving here and there, and then ran behind Hal and Stewart who used barriers to deflect it back at Darkseid, and he was sent flying off and onto the ground.
As Darkseid tried to get up, J'onn sped at him and punched his face multiple times as Jones hit him with fireballs, and powerful waves conjured by Arthur and AC landed on him, sending him falling down.
As he staggered up, both Victor and Cyborg flew around, hitting him with their beams, and Shazam hit him from behind too.
Darkseid then grabbed Victor and slammed him down, punching him thrice, and threw him at Cyborg, both of them being sent flying off by many feet.
Shazam hit him with a powerful lightning blast from behind, making him scream in pain. but was grabbed by the throat and punched away.
Prince leapt at Darkseid from behind and punched his head, then got below him and gave him an uppercut, sending him flying up as she did the same with him, and then punched him more times as she flew up with Clark, Arthur, AC, J'onn, Jones, Victor, Cyborg, Hal, Stewart and Shazam flying behind her.
Parademons came in the way as she took some down and leaping at Darkseid, punched him again and leapt off as a blast from Shazam hit him, followed by beams from both Victor and Cyborg, who blasted him off, and then J'onn elbowed his head hard with Jones hitting his face with a powerful fireball, and Arthur made a giant cut on Darkseid's chest with his trident while AC hit him from behind with a water blast, with Clark firing powerful Heat Vision which made Darkseid scream in pain as he got punched multiple times from all sides, with Stewart hitting him from above with a hammer, and then Hal sending him flying off with a green fist's punch.
He went crashing through a warehouse and as he popped his head out, all of them rammed into him at once, sending him back again, then blasting him with their blasts at the same time as he went back again.
Prince then wrapped him in her lasso as he struggled against her, while Shazam formed a powerful ball of lightning and hit Darkseid's head, making him scream in pain, with Clark firing Heat Vision again, and they all fired their beams at the same time, making him scream in pain as Hal and Stewart covered him in barriers.
Goodness leapt back to avoid another cyclone blast from Tess but Kara rammed into her, crashing her to the ground, and as she staggered up, Wonder Woman bashed her face with her shield, throwing her back again as her rod fell off.
Tess then picked up the rod and stabbed her through the head, finally killing her and avenging herself as she said to the other two. "Thank you."
"Mention not", Kara smirked before flying off to aid the rest by firing Heat Vision at Darkseid.
"Bart, now!" Ollie yelled from his vantage point, and so Bart sped to a construction worker being led away by a cop nearby, taking a crowbar from him.
"Sorry, I need this to save the world", he said before speeding off, and then ran around on buildings and over them, building up momentum.
Darkseid managed to send all his attackers flying off with a powerful shockwave as Bart ran up a building and having enough momentum, leapt at him, now piercing his other eye with the crowbar which managed to do so due to Bart's momentum, and Darkseid screamed in pain once more before hurling Bart off as Stewart caught him on a green pad.
"Did that work?" Bart asked as Shazam fired another lightning ball which exploded upon Darkseid, sending him crashing onto the ground.
"Yeah, I think that worked", Shazam said with a shrug.
"We need to take him out fast now", Kara urged.
Darkseid during that time staggered around blindly as they flew and took on some Parademons, taking them down.
Darkseid was then rammed into by a recovered Kal and roared. "What are you?"
Kal hovered in the air and declared to him with firm conviction in his voice as his Parademons were beaten around them by both versions of the Justice League.
"I am the hope of the Universe. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth."
He then flew at Darkseid, finishing his declaration.
"Ally to good! Nightmare to you!"
Kal fired his Heat Vision, making Darkseid roar in pain as Kal punched him hard thrice, then gave him an uppercut, sending him flying up, and raising his fists, brought them down on Darkseid, making him crash to the ground as he groaned.
"How should we stop him?" Booster Gold wondered.
"I have a Mother Box, we can use it", Victor suggested.
"Let's do it together", Cyborg said as Victor ejected the Mother Box from his system, and they flew high into the air, destroying some more of the Parademons.
Holding out the Mother Box, they used their systems to connect to it as a voice came. "Connection established."
And soon, another Boom Tube opened, slowly sucking the Parademons back in as Darkseid stood in front of it and roared. "How dare you? I am Darkseid."
Clark then sped at him from behind, hitting him. "I don't care."
Clark tried to punch as he blocked but Clark then punched him hard on the face, making him stagger back while Kal fired his Heat Vision where Darkseid's eyes used to be, making him scream in pain while Bart and Barry-Blue circled him, then both Shazam, Hal and Stewart together hit him with beams to stagger him away. Tess fired her cyclones to add to it too.
Bart and Barry-Blue punched him simultaneously as Kal, Wonder Woman, Clark, Diana, Jones, J'onn and Kara all punched him at the same time, throwing him back near the portal before he blasted them back.
"Now, slam the door in his face", Hal told the Cyborgs when it said. "Unable to connect."
"Damn it", Cyborg said as they tried to connect.
"Error. Error. The computer is not responding."
During that time, Darkseid had recovered when Ollie fired an arrow at him and it went off like a thruster, pushing Darkseid back again but he ripped it off, only for Detective and Knight to climb on him from behind and put their utility belts on him, and they went off too, pushing him back towards the portal.
He then threw those off as all tried to push him back.
"Come on, you stupid machine, work", Victor urged and then is said. "Network connected."
"Yes."
And with that, the energy required was given to the Mother Box while Kal, Clark and Kara fired Heat Vision, Jones and J'onn fired fireballs, Detective and Knight hurled Batarangs, Wonder Woman and Prince slammed their bracelets, Ollie fired his arrows, Tess made a cyclone, Bart and Barry-Blue too twirled their hands for similar effects, Shazam fired lightning, Arthur and AC together hit him with water blasts, Chloe fired her guns for support, and Hal and Stewart also fired beams, pushing Darkseid into the portal finally.
He tried to climb out but both Kal and Clark punched him together, sending him inside the portal at last as it closed.
And with that, all of them stood where the portal had been, and saw the tower that had risen from the water crumbling too.
"And there it goes for now", Jones said as all sighed in relief.
"What about the human victims?" Prince asked.
"We can do it one more time", Cyborg said as he and Victor used the Mother Box to open some portals in the sky from which people fell out while the portals were closed.
"We got this", Hal said as he and Stewart flew and used giant baseball gloves to catch them, saving them all.
"How do we keep Darkseid from returning?" Clark then asked.
"All the Mother Boxes are fried, and I don't think they will try it again, so we won't be seeing them for a long time", Victor told him.
"Thank you for helping", Detective said to the Earth-167 Justice League.
"Our pleasure", Ollie shrugged as Clark flew up to where Lane was and they shared a kiss, while the people started clapping for both versions of the Justice League and taking pictures of them.
They had won, they had defeated Darkseid at last.
Barry-Blue started. "Also, I was going to Earth-199999 first-"
"So we were second choice? I'm so offended", Lois quipped as all chuckled.
"But it was sealed off for some reason", Barry-Blue finished.
They exchanged concerned looks as Prince said. "I hope they are all right."
"Yes, I am truly concerned about them too", Wonder Woman agreed.
"Them? Or him? Eh?" Bart asked with a mischievous grin and got glares in return, and both Wonder Women blushed at it was clear who was being talked about.
Later, Earth-167, Watchtower
The Justice League all relaxed after having defeated Darkseid again, this time in a big and proper fight, when a portal opened and they turned to see Steve Rogers walk in. They saw he had bandages around him, and they looked pretty battered too.
"So, uh, my Ring broke", Steve said, holding it up as he turned to Stewart. "Can we go to Oa to repair it?"
"Yeah, we could", Stewart told him. "Though I have heard stories of Green Lanterns with willpower so strong that they could repair their own Rings."
"That's possible?" Chloe asked in surprise.
"I said I have heard stories", Stewart reminded her.
Steve held his broken Ring in his palm before closing his hand and focusing, imagining a fire in his hand, and a blue light shone briefly before a dazzling green flash almost blinded anyone in the vicinity, and Steve opened his hand, revealing the fully repaired power Ring.
"Now it's not a story anymore", Stewart said, awed just like everyone else.
"As you can see though, we had an interesting day", Kal told Steve. "And I think you did too."
"What happened to you?" Steve asked out of curiosity.
Ollie replied. "Had a fight with a God that destroys planets. You?"
"Had a fight with a God who eats planets", Steve replied as they looked at him, slightly surprised, then Kal pulled out a chair for him as they started exchanging stories.
And we're done with the main plot now, this wasn't supposed to be too long of course, but hope you enjoyed how I did it, and I had Kal do both the 'World of Cardboard' as well as Goku's 'I am' speech from the Funi Dub, and really, the Funi Dub version of the speech suits any version of Superman more than Goku, who got a more accurate speech in the Kai dub.
As the last scene showed, this and 'Arrival of the Devourer' took place at the same time.
