AN: Just a heads up, this Male Sheppard doesn't use the base male Sheppard design but the one I tend to use in my playthroughs. I just have a hard time picturing any design but that one as Sheppard honestly, especially as mine looks more like a male counterpart to the female Sheppard. As a redhead myself, I can't not use redhead Sheppard.
AN2: And yeah, this story takes place in the midst of shit, with Sheppard, now a SPECTRE, about to head out for the main story. The back story of Percy will be revealed as needed but I also plan to make a one to three shot about his backstory at some point.
The Final Olympian
Chapter 1
-John Sheppard-
"You ready for this Sheppard?" Captain Anderson asked as they walked down the docking platform towards the Normandy, this top level being restricted to the crew and Alliance personal with high enough clearance, "Saren won't make it easy for you."
"Wishing you could go with him Anderson?" Hackett let out a small chuckle, the Admiral gazing at the ship "I can't say I don't think the same."
"I-" whatever Anderson had been about to say was cut off by the sound of the elevator letting someone up, the door sliding to reveal a man in casual clothes and a hoodie. "Hey, this is a restricted area." Anderson frowned at the tall man approaching them, their hood hiding all of their features, "Identify yourself."
"Wow, feeling the love Andy." The hooded person chuckled while Anderson gaped.
"Andy? Nobody's called me that in years. Who the hell are you?" Anderson frowned while John felt distinctly out of place.
"Still don't recognize me? What about you Gunny?" the man in the hoodie turned towards the Admiral.
"Only person to ever call me that was…broadside?" the Admiral's voice was clearly in shocked denial. The hood fell back to reveal a smirking man with black hair and green eyes.
"In the flesh." The man, 'Broadside' John assumed, gave the two older officers a familiar grin, "Been awhile boys."
"You…no, this is impossible." Anderson was looking like he saw a ghost "Nobody's seen you since the first contact war…we thought you were dead. And you definitely shouldn't still look this young."
"Turns out that when I got put on ice, it slowed my aging." The man shrugged, "After the first contact war I needed some time to sort some things out. When I figured out the age thing I decided to stay out of the limelight."
"Can someone tell me what's going on here?" John demanded, not caring that he was giving an order to his superior officer.
"Commander, meet Perseus Jackson." Anderson nodded as John's eyes widened at the familiar name "A hero of the first contact war, and an old friend."
"Why come back now though?" Hackett frowned in confusion, but Sheppard saw both men clearly trusted this ghost implicitly.
"I saw that first attempt at taking Saren to trial." Perseus frowned, "Got a ship back to the Citadel right away. This is my mess so I'm going to do what I can to help clean it up."
"Um…your mess?" John gave a confused glance to his commanders, hoping they could clear things up.
"He's the reason Saren has that metal arm." Hackett explained "The thee of us were part of the same unit back during the first contact war."
"Percy can explain more himself; they need to get going." Anderson cut Hackett off, "Sheppard, believe us when we say you can trust him."
"Understood sir." John saluted the man who he'd been serving under only a few days before, "We'll do you proud."
-Percy-
Walking beside his new Commander, Percy looked about the high-tech Ship, feeling the confused eyes of the crew as they saw him enter along with Sheppard. "Joker, get the ground team and the Doctor to meet me in my quarters." Sheppard called, "Then get us out and on route to Therum."
"You got it Commander." The pilot gave an eager grin as the ship began to undock "Also, who's the newbie?"
"That's what I'll be discussing with the ground team and the Doctor." Sheppard gave him a still confused look, likely not sure how to process Percy's presence "He's apparently an old friend of the Captain though."
"Good enough for me. Welcome to the Normandy new guy!" Joker gave him a grin as Percy followed Shepard out of the bridge and towards a spacious officer's cabin where a decent sized group was already waiting. Most of them even recognized his face.
"Where the fuck did you find a Jackson?" a dark-haired woman gaped at Sheppard, "I didn't even know there were any left."
"Jackson? Like that guy from the first contact war?" a man who sounded Canadian looked puzzled while the Doctor approached him.
"Karin, that you?" Percy looked surprised before whimpering as she slapped him hard upside the head. "Warranted…but ow."
"I thought you humans didn't live that long." The large Krogan frowned, "Or is he a clone?"
"Alright enough!" Sheppard snaped, thankfully before Karin could hit him again, "Jackson, explain…all of this please."
"Fair enough Commander." Percy shrugged, leaning against the wall "My name is Perseus Jackson, and I was born in the twentieth Century on earth."
"I thought that was a couple centuries ago." A cute sounding Quarian interrupted.
"It was." Percy shrugged "I got cryogenically frozen by my relatives who thought I was going to die if they didn't." although to be fair they weren't wrong on that front "And I got found and let out right as the First Contact war was going on. I was lost, confused, had no savings or family left, but my species had just been attacked by aliens. I enlisted in the military to protect my home and made some friends in my unit. There was our NCO Hackett, my fellow rookies Anderson and Ryder, and even our favorite military Nurse Karin." He got slapped again "Please stop that." He pouted at her.
"No promises." She gave him an irritated look "Now keep talking."
"Not much else to say." Percy sighed, ignoring the Turian who'd backed up against the wall the second he entered the room "I fought, I bled, and I killed. I took Saren's arm when I should have taken his life. And after the war ended, I left to try and figure out my place in the galaxy. After a few years of freaking out and drinking a few bars dry I realized I wasn't aging as fast as I should have been. Whatever they did when they froze me also slowed my aging down. In the twenty-six years since the first contact war ended, I've only seemed to age one or two."
"I noticed." Karin's tone was still sharp, but her gaze had softened somewhat, likely understanding why he'd stayed away a bit more now.
"Um…but why is Garrus trying to merge with the corner there?" the Quarian asked, pointing to the wide eyed Turian.
"According to my family, Jackson there became something of a boogieman to the Turians." A female soldier with black hair answered, "Especially after what he did at Shanxi."
"You're a Williams." Percy deduced, studying her face a bit more, "Same eyes as the General."
"And why just now do you come back?" Sheppard worked to get things back on track, "There have been other threats besides Saren over the years."
"And I was working on them unseen." Percy nodded "For the most part I've been hunting down slavers in the Terminus System and Batarian space. Saren though is not only a SPECTRE, but a threat that wouldn't have happened if I did more than just remove his arm in the war. So, I'm here to see him stopped."
AN: So yeah, just a little taste for now but more of his story will get revealed as the tale of Mass Effect continues and he bonds with the crew. And since I know people will ask, this Percy is a Vanguard and Sheppard is an Infiltrator.
AN2: Current pairing plan is Percy with Tali and Sheppard with Ashley
