Chapter 128
After getting Numbers 29 from the Cat Maid, they spot a bluebird flying past as they chase after it. The bluebird is holding a cane as it continues to fly. Yuni says, "There is no mistake, that is Numbers 49: Concealing Bird - Fortune Tune."
"But what is it doing there?" Sora asks.
"I don't know." Yuni shrugs as they chase until they arrive at a park. A blue-haired girl is standing in front of them and the bird just lands on her. Yuya asks, "Who are you?"
"My name is Fortuna, I am the one who will stop you from getting the rest of the numbers." Fortuna says.
"So another one of Black Mist's henchman..." Katrina mutters.
Serena asks, "If you don't mind, can I duel this one?"
"Sure." Yuni says with a smile, "But Numbers monsters can only be destroyed by Number monsters, how about using this card to defeat it?"
Serena looks at the Xyz Monster, as she hasn't done Xyz Summon before, but she nods and takes the Number card.
"So you are going to battle me, interesting." Fortuna says as she activates her Duel Disk.
"I am not going to lose no matter what." Serena says as she does the same, with the Crossover activates, they both yell, "Duel!" (Serena:4000)(Fortuna:4000)
"I'll get the first turn." Fortuna says, "I use Continuous Magic Card: Castle of the Gods - Valhalla! When I control no monsters, once per turn, I can Special Summon 1 Fairy monster from my hand. I summon Royal Knight. (ATK:1300/DEF:800 LV:3)
As the knight-looking monster appears on the field, Fortuna says, "And I set one monster face down, and set one card until I end my turn."
Serena looks at the field and says, "Only one Level 3 monster, I don't know what she is doing, but I have to be careful. My turn!"
After drawing the card, Serena says, "I use Scale 1 Moonlight Wolf and Scale 5 Moonlight Tiger to set the Pendulum Scale! With this, I can summon monsters from Level 2 to 4! Pendulum Summon! Come forth! Moonlight Yellow Marten (ATK:800/DEF:2000 LV:4) and then Moonlight Kaleido Chick. (ATK:1400/DEF:800 LV:4)"
After two monsters appear on the field, Serena says, "I send Purple Butterfly to my graveyard to use its effect, I choose Kaleido Chick, it gains 1000 ATK until the end of this turn. (ATK: 1400-2400) "Battle! I attack your Royal Knight with Kaleido Chick!"
As the chick kicks the monster, Fortuna just simply takes damage without saying anything. (Fortuna:4000-2900)
"She didn't use the set card?" Yuni wonders. "What will that card be?"
Serena thinks, "No matter what she is going to do, I am going to win this." She says, "I end my turn."
Fortuna says, "If you think that you're lucky to give me damage, I am going to tell you that your fortune will be taken from this turn."
"What?" Serena asks in confusion.
"I use my face down card, Call of the Haunted, I use it to resummon my monster: Royal Knight!"
As the monster returns, Sona asks, "She gets the monster back..."
"And I Flip Summon my facedown card, come! Princess of Tsurugi! (ATK:900/DEF:700,LV:3)
As the princess with a sword appears, she says, "When it is Flip Summoned, I can inflict 500 damage to you for each Magic and Trap Card that my opponent controls, Pendulum Monsters are treated as Magic Cards, so take 1000 damage!"
Serena is slashed by the sword as she groans in pain. (Serena:4000-3000)
Katrina says, "Not only that...she has gathered two level 3 Monsters..."
"I overlay Princess of Tsurugi and Royal Knight! Now fly towards the sky with your graceful wings and concealing beauty! Xyz Summon!" Just then, the bluebird on Fortuna's shoulder just flies onto the field as the Overlay Units start to surround it.
"Number 49! Concealing Bird - Fortune Tune!" (ATK:400/DEF:900 RNK:3 OVU:2)
"Only 400 ATK?" Vivian asks, "What is special about this monster?"
Yuni says, "When this card is on the field, Serena can't target that monster with card effects. Much like Assembly Nightingale, it can use its overlay units to prevent destruction by battle or card effects.
"But she can still take damage, that's for sure." Yuri says.
"Now I use Continuous Magic Card: Fortune Roulette!" Fortuna sets the card as roulette with only a circle and a cross appear on it. She says, "If I land on a circle, my monster can gain 2000 ATK, if land on the cross, then my monster's ATK will become 0 until the end of this turn."
The roulette spins, and then it lands on O, she smiles, "Now my monster gains 2000 ATK." (ATK:400-2400) "Now battle! I attack your Kaleido Chick with Fortune Tune!"
Serena tries to grab an Action Card, only to find that it is Extreme Sword. Serena says, "Damn it...talk about bad luck. I use Action Magic Extreme Sword. I raise my monster's ATK by 1000." (ATK:1400-2400)
Even though they have the same attack, but because of Fortune Tune's effect, only Kaleido Chick is destroyed. Fortuna says, "Very well, you manage to negate your damage. I set one card and end my turn."
Yuri says, "Perhaps her bad luck is about to begin...how amusing."
"Aren't you worried about her? Yuri?" Sona sighs, and Yuri just shrugs.
Serena says, "I am not going to lose that easy. My turn!" After drawing a card, she says, "I use Moonlight Tiger's effect! I can summon a monster from my graveyard, but that monster can't attack, and its effects are negated. Not only that, but it is also destroyed at the end of my turn. I summon back my Kaleido Chick!"
After the monster is back, Serena says, "Now I use my Wolf's effect! I can banish both Kaleido Chick and Yellow Marten to perform a Fusion Summon! Colorful chicken that prances through the light, Yellow marten that flies into the swarm! Swarm in a vortex of the moon's gravity and revive with a new power! Fusion Summon! Come forth! Moonlight Cat Dancer!" (ATK:2400/DEF:2000 LV:7)
As the monster appears, Katrina smiles, "Great, it seems that Serena has summoned her ace monster."
"But Fortune Roulette is still on the field..." Yuni says.
"I use my Magic Card, Moonlight Perfume, I summon back my Purple Butterfly to my field, so I can use my Cat Dancer's effect! By releasing one Moonlight monster, I can attack all your monsters twice, but the first time, your monster won't be destroyed." Serena says.
"Then I use Fortune Roulette's effect!" Fortuna says as the roulette is spinning, and it lands on the circle again. (ATK:400-2400)
Serena grabs an Action Card, which is Encore. "Looks like my luck is not gone yet. I use Encore, I use Extreme Sword in my graveyard." (ATK:2400-3400)
"Go! Moonlight Cat Dancer! Full Moon Cresta!"
When Cat Dancer is kicking the bird, Fortuna says, "My fortune tune can't be destroyed by battle once I detached my Overlay Unit, too bad for you."
"But you still take damage." Serena says as Fortuna takes the damage from the kick. (Fortuna:2900-900) "After I take damage, I use my trap card: Fortune Grace."
"Fortune Grace..." Serena mutters.
"What is that card?" Yuni wonders.
Serena says, "I end my turn. I don't think that is going to scare me."
"Really?" Fortuna says as she draws the card, and much to their surprise, the blue bird spins around and shines on her. (Fortuna:900-1900)
"What? She gained 1000 LP? what's going on?" Sora asks.
"Fortune Tune has an effect that recovers 500 LP during each standby phase...and I guess that Continuous trap card, Fortune Grace, probably has an effect to make it double..." Yuya says.
"That's right." Fortuna says. "Now I use Fortune Roulette's effect again!"
But this time, it lands on an X, and Vivian says, "Good, now it lands on X, which means that the ATK of the monster will become 0."
"Not only that, it doesn't have any Overlay Units, so that means it can be destroyed." Katrina says.
"Do you think I don't have other plans?" Fortuna asks. "I use my magic card, Damage Dice. I target one monster whose original ATK is 500 or lower, so I can roll the dice."
As the dice appears, it lands on 5, she says, "Since it lands on 5. Fortune Tune's original ATK is 400, so by times five, you will take 2000 damage!"
Serena widens her eyes as she tries to grab an Action Card, but she fails as she takes damage. (Serena:3000-1000)
"Damn it..." Serena mutters with frustration.
"I end my turn." Fortuna says. "How do you feel the pain, huh?
Serena says, "I am not going to give up that easily!" She carefully stands back up and yells, "My turn!"
After drawing a card, she says, "I summon Moonlight Emerald Bird! (ATK:1200/DEF:1000 LV:4)
As the monster appears, she says, "I use its effect, I can send one Moonlight card from my hand to graveyard, and then I draw one card."
After drawing the card, she says, "I use Magic Card, Level 4 Danger! I target Moonlight Cat Dancer, and it becomes Level 4!"
Yuri says, "So Serena has two Level 4 Monsters."
"Even though I haven't done this before, but I am willing to try! I overlay my now Level 4 Moonlight Cat Dancer and Level 4 Moonlight Emerald Bird! Xyz Summon! Come forth! Number 59! Back the Cook!" (ATK:2300/DEF:200 RNK:4 OVU:2)
As a chef monster with the Number 59 appears, Yuya asks, "Hey, Yuni...isn't this card one of the cards that were stolen by Black Mist?"
"I got it back recently, with the help of Sona of course." Yuni says as Sona nods. "Considering that I am using a Chef deck, it tries to possess me, but it is a good thing that Full Clear Fusion Dragon protects me from being controlled, and I manage to give this card back."
"I use Back the Cook's effect! I destroy all my other cards on my field by detaching one Overlay unit, and for each card I destroyed, it gains 300 ATK!"
The chef monster just destroys the Pendulum Monsters, and it gains 600 ATK. (ATK:2300-2900)
"If you forget, I have Fortune Roulette's effect!" Fortuna says. "Now spin an O for me!"
But much to her horror, it is X once again. "What is going on with my luck? Does that mean it's my luck that's being taken?"
Serena says, "Battle! Number 59! Attack Back the Cook!"
The cook grabs onto the bird and starts to slam its pan to it, after that, the bird finally gets destroyed and Fortuna falls to the ground. (Fortuna:1900-0)
After the duel ends, Serena looks at Fortuna and says, "There is always good luck and bad luck, even though we are in bad luck, we know how to cope with it, that makes us stronger than you."
Fortuna just gives a grunt as she disappears, and then a bluebird with a card in its mouth steps forward. Yuni picks the card and the bird just flies away.
"Where do you think the bird is going?" Vivian asks.
"Probably somewhere that it belongs to." Yuni sighs as she looks at the card.
After returning to the base, Yuni asks her father, "Please, Dad? Can we really keep it?"
The others are seeing how Yuni is hugging a cat as Yusho is sighing, "If only you will be responsible to take care of it."
"I promise I will take care of Eli." Yuni says as the cat is licking Yuni's face.
"So that's the cat's name?" Yuzu asks, and Yuni says, "Of course, I really like this name."
"But still, I'm a little worried if the cat might get dragged into the war. Academia is not yet defeated, and you have another new pet." Reisho says.
"Don't worry." Yuni says, "I am sure that it won't be a burden to us."
Just then, as Princess Cologne passes by, Eli the cat starts to rush after it, causing the two of them are running around the Duel Lodge. Katrina says, "Looks like my Princess Cologne has a new friend to play with as well."
"I couldn't agree more." Yuni says.
Number 49's duel is hard to write, so I decide to change Fortune Tune's effect: Neither player can target this card on the field with card effects. To only the opponent. I know I might get hate from this, but please bear with it. And I hope that the next chapter will be much easier to write considering that the Numbers Arc is about to end and we could finally go to the Fusion Arc.

Continuous Magic
Effect: Once per turn, you can spin a roulette, if lands on O, one of your monster can gain 2000 ATK, if lands on X, your monster's ATK will become 0 until the end of this turn.
Fortune Grace:
Continuous Trap
Effect: When your Life Points are under 1000, you can activate this card. Once per turn, when you receive Life Points, you can make that amount double.
Damage Dice:
Normal Magic
Effect: Target one monster whose ATK is 500 or less, and then roll a dice, your opponent will take damage equal to the ATK of the monster times the number that was thrown.
