Chapter 70 Road to Umira

Before moving forward, they have some things to do as they get back to Gellene Town, and they go to find Fable again as they tell her about how the Dentist and the Guardian are summoning the Snorlax and how they capture it.

Fable: I don't even need to ask. This one happened too, didn't it? Using donuts to summon a Snorlax? That's actually pretty clever. Remember when I told you my predictions were "more unlikely than you being granted access to Area S1"? That'll be your final one. You'll be granted access to Area S1.

Lillie: (Leaves with Ash) So we are going to Area S1 in the future.

Ash: That is if we manage to win against Agne.

Then they go to the Forest of Feeling, as the sleeping Bulbasaur is finally awake and the ranger recognizes them as the ones who saved the Underwater Hotel, so they have Bulbasaur into the team. With the help of Ash's Venusaur, Bulbasaur has been training with a lot of Pokemon and evolves into a Venusaur in the end.

Lillie: All that was left is Charmander.

Ash: Yeah, I wonder if we would be going to a place filled with fire. Don't forget we haven't got Grookey as well.

Lillie: Oh, now that you mentioned it, I almost forgot. Grookey might be somewhere grassy.

Back at the Sea of Knowledge, after leaving Ocean Coast, they can find some Clobbopus on land as they walk past them, and they finally arrive at the Crimson Path. The Pokemon living at Crimson Path are Ekans, Arbok, Nidoran (Both male and female), Nidorina, Nidorino, Sudowoodo, and Scyther.

Ash: You know, we haven't seen an Arbok here before. I think I might want to capture one.

Lillie: But we already have a Seviper. Are you sure?

Ash: It will be fine.

Ash spots an Arbok and has Alakazam battle it, once it is defeated, Ash throws a Pokeball and captures it. As they continue forward, they stop as they notice a weird tree.

Ash: (Notices a weird tree) Lillie, do you want to cut this tree?

Lillie: Why should I do that?

Ash: I think something is inside...

Lillie does it, and then a Beast Ball appears, when Lillie opens it, it turns out to be Kartana, the dangerous Ultra Beast that has a sharp blade.

Ash: Looks like we found another Ultra Beast...

Lillie: But this one looks small and sharp... (Recalls Kartana)

As they are about to go into the jungle, they are stopped by a Zoroark, who tells them to go into a house.

Ash: I wonder why he wants us to go there...

Lillie: Who knows.

Ash and Lillie enter the house and see two women in there, judging by their looks, Ash and Lillie seem to recognize them.

Belinda: You must be Ash and Lillie! Welcome!

Ash: Who are you? (Thinks and gasps) Wait...I think...are you two Belinda and Belladonna? I heard that you two live in Crimson Path...

Belladonna: I see you know us. You've probably heard a lot of people say this already, but we saw you on the news. You fought Team Portal at the Underwater Hotel.

Belinda: I remember when I was a Rogue, considered an enemy to the region...looking back now, I don't know what I was thinking. I'm sure Team Portal will feel the same way, years after this is all over.

Belladonna: If it comes down to it, we might need to assist in fighting them. For all we know, Team Portal could be more dangerous than the Rogues.

Belinda: Not more dangerous than the best saboteur couple in the region, though!

Belladonna: Definitely not! If we need to join the fight, Team Portal literally won't know what hit them! Oh, I almost forgot! Your siblings and friends stopped by earlier!"

Lillie: Really?

Belinda: They invited us to Crolea's birthday party, and they said to tell you hi. I'm guessing you're all headed to Umira?

Ash: If that's where the next gym is, then yes.

Belinda: If you'd like, we can heal your Pokemon for you along the way! (Takes Ash and Lillie's Pokemon to the healing machine and then return them)

Belladonna: We look forward to seeing you at the party! Safe travels!

Ash and Lillie bid farewell to them as they head outside, only to find Belinda's Zoroark gone.

Lillie: So our next place is in Umira...I wonder what kind of place is that?

Ash: I am not sure, but something tells me that there is more to that place. We will arrive there once we get past this Raila Jungle.

The Raila Jungle is filled with Mankey, Primeape, Electrike, Manectric, Skorupi, Steenee, Oranguru, and Passimian. Ash and Lillie capture a Skorupi and trains it to become a Drapion, and then they also capture an Oranguru because of how smart it is.

Lillie: (Notices the temple) What is that temple?

Ash: I don't know, should we go check it out?

Lillie nods as they decide to go there, only to find that the door is locked and they can't enter.

?: That place is locked, so you shouldn't go inside.

They turn around and they find a blonde-haired man standing in front of them, judging by the look, they feel that this man over here is someone important.

?: You must be Ash and Lillie, correct? Word of your heroics has reached me here in the jungle.

Ash: Sorry to be rude, but who are you?

Stryker: My name is Stryker. I was once Ceolis' Electric Type Gym Leader - the first one, in fact. I was challenged by a trainer named DJ Ultra Beats. She asked for a battle to determine the Electric leader, and I agreed.

Lillie: And let me guess, you lost against her, so you're no longer a gym leader?

Stryker: I'm not upset. I agreed to the terms, so I have no right to be. And it seems like she's doing an excellent job as a Gym Leader, so she deserves the position. DJ Beats and I are drawn to the Electric-type for opposite reasons. She's a DJ, as I'm sure you've gathered. She's into pop and electronic music that gets everyone dancing. Me on the other hand, I'm more fascinated by the natural side of electricity. I'm in Raila Jungle because Thunderstorms are common here. I can't give you a badge, but I'd like to give you something for protecting this region as if it were your own.

He gives them a Light Ball, which is good for Pikachu. What he doesn't know is that they already have a Light Ball in Aliora City.

Stryker: The rain during the Thunderstorms here aided me many times in my battles. If you manage to beat the league, come back here. I'll introduce you to a very important Pokemon.

Ash and Lillie nod as they bid him farewell.

Ash: A very important Pokemon...I wonder what kind of Pokemon is that...

Lillie: Probably an Electric Type Legendary Pokemon? I think there are Thundurus, Zekrom, Zapdos, Raikou, and even Tapu Koko.

Ash: Maybe. But come to think about it, DJ Ultra Beasts is also one of the gym leaders we haven't faced yet.

Lillie: But from what we have heard, she is at the Party City, which is still far from here. Not to mention we can't enter that place until we get 17 badges.

As they continue forward, they find a glowing tree.

Ash: Why is this tree glowing? Something is not right here.

And just as they investigate, a Xurkitree appears from the tree and it starts to attack them.

Lillie: First Kartana and now Xurkitree? Why are these Ultra Beasts staying in trees like that?

Ash: I don't know, but we have to defeat it if only that's the way to stop it from attacking us.

Their best choice is to use Ground Type Pokemon, so they go with Runerigus and Palossand to battle. But Xurkitree is capable of using Power Whip, which deals a lot of damage. But in the end, Xurkitree is defeated, and Ash uses the chance to throw a Beast Ball to capture the Ultra Beast.

Lillie: I thought we were going to get down...

Ash: Yeah, but all that's left is Blacephalon.

Lillie: Yeah...also a Fire Type.

They also notice a Raikou roaming around, but it doesn't seem to notice them as it just keeps running.

Ash: Weird...we found a Suicune and a Raikou, and we haven't found an Entei in this region. I wonder where he is.

Lillie: Me too, let's get going.

Then, they find two Grookey who are making music, and they notice Ash's Band Autograph from the Maximizers of the Galar Region. And then one of the Grookey wants to travel with them, much to their surprise.

Ash: And we found Grookey. Strange."

Lillie: I know, but I can see the exit...something tells me that I am going to regret entering Umira.

Ash: I agree with you.

Before doing so, they train Grookey until it becomes a powerful Rillaboom just by battling the Oranguru and Passimian.
