Chapter 71 Umira
Lillie: Oh boy...is this really Umira?
Ash and Lillie leave Raila Jungle and find that they are in a place that is similar to Wonky Woods, only that it is worse as there they find that they come out from a bell, and there is a lot of random stuff here in this place.
Lillie: I think we know who is the next leader we're going to face...
Ash: The owner of the Holiday Pokemon, as well as the one who hacked our Pokedex. Isabelle, the Psychic Type Leader...I can't believe it is time.
Mysterious Voice: Please set the chairs on the cheese! We can understand the radio if we're at least 3 gallons on top of the sea water!
They look around to find the speaker inside of a geyser, and Ash is a little frustrated.
Ash: Not that voice again...I am not in a mood for Hiding and Seek...This place surely is a mess...
Emily: We really can walk on the gym!
They hear Emily's voice as they look at Emily and Delicia on the roof of the gym while Gladion and Crolea are on the ground. Delicia is making a ".o." face.
Lillie: Emily? Are you on the roof?
Emily: Oh, hi Ash and Lillie! Crolea was just showing us how you can walk right through this gym.
Emily and Delicia just basically walk towards them without jumping down
Ash: How...is this the gym?
Gladion: You're not the only one who thought so.
Ash and Lillie also walk forward and they somehow are on top of the roof, they feel like they are standing on top of painting on the ground, but they are not as they can feel the height.
Crolea: That's Isabelle's ability at work.
Emily: There's something I've been wondering since we first saw Isabelle's simulations in Wonky Woods. Agne told us how they're not real people. But what about the Pokemon they use? Are they real?
Crolea: The Pokemon aren't real either. All the Espurr here are real Pokemon that belong to Isabelle, but the simulations' Pokemon aren't real. I guess a way of understanding it would be to compare them to virtual reality NPCs. Only they exist in our world instead of the virtual one. I doubt Isabelle can just create Pokemon out of thin air. It probably works if they're an extension of a "trainer". Amazing how the supernatural has rules and restrictions just like technology does, isn't it?
Gladion: I never thought of it like that before, but you're right.
Crolea: My mom is an engineer and I'm an empath, so I grew up with an appreciation for both. Anyway, there was something else I wanted to mention besides the gym. I'm feeling high levels of emotion from both the Astral Observatory to the Northeast and Mt. Comet to the west. Before you challenge Isabelle, I think we should see what's happening at those places.
Lillie: What kind of emotions are you sensing?
Crolea: Complete opposites, interestingly enough. Astral Observatory is somber, and Mt. Comet is cheerful. So I think we should go to the Astral Observatory first. It's best to get the bad news out of the way first, right?
Ash: What bad news?
Crolea: I guess now would be the time to mention the Astral Observatory has ties to Team Portal, and the somber mood probably has something to do with them.
Emily: So the Astral Observatory is a Team Portal's base?!
Crolea: Sort of...it's not the same as the BCC, where it was a cover-up. The Astral Observatory is a legit group that reports to Agne. I don't know the whole story, but what I do know is that Team Portal made a deal with them. Team Portal helps them out in exchange for being allowed access to their building and data. I don't think Agne knows about Team Portal being there. Agne not knowing was probably one of the terms for Team Portal's deal. Team Portal doesn't use it much anymore, though. Barker was the one who wrote the contract, while Quinn was the one who approached them with it. But Quinn's visit became less frequent when the BCC was established since they were put in charge of that. It was mainly regular agents visiting afterward, but Quinn did still call in to make sure things were running smoothly.
Gladion: I had no idea Team Portal's connections went this deep...
Crolea: Even I don't have the full picture. Like I mentioned before, Team Portal doesn't know how much they can trust me. They're not rude to me, but they don't tell me everything. I don't even know where the main HQ Building is. I'm honestly kind of surprised they haven't suspected me of telling Ash and Lillie about what they were doing in the Game Corner. Then again, that mission wasn't really the highest priority, and their cover wasn't blown thanks to Barker's smooth talk. He could make something like breaking into the Data Vault sound like a brilliant idea... I'm just glad me and my mom are cautious about him. Dylan too.
Ash and Lillie then remember what Pandora told them in Norall Mountain, and then he sighs as it is time to reveal the truth.
Ash: The boss of Team Portal, it is no other than Pandora.
Emily: Wait, you mean our aunt is the leader of Team Portal? Are you serious?
Ash: (Nods) I know it is hard to believe...but we have met on top of Norall Mountain, and she told us that Team Portal's goal is to get into the Data Vault without the Guardian's permission.
Crolea: You're telling me that's literally what Team Portal is planning to do? This is a lot to take in...but it's very helpful information, Ash, Lillie. Thank you for telling me this. Trying to enter the Data Vault without approval would be unthinkable to most people.
Gladion: What do you think would happen if they got in?
Crolea: Who knows what kind of consequences that would have...I guess it would depend on why Pandora wants to go to the Data Vault. I don't know if it's physically possible to even enter the Data Vault without the Guardian's approval, but we should still try to prevent her from getting that far. We've spent a lot of time talking here, though. I think we should get to the Astral Observatory now.
The others nod as they head towards the Observatory, which is in the northeast of Umira, but before going there, they decide to look around the place first. Ash and Lillie enter the house and they enter the house, only to find the couple that they saved from Unown back in Wonky Woods.
Man: You're the ones who helped us at Wonky Woods when we were being attacked by the Unown!
Woman: We've been waiting for you, we want to give you this.
They are given the Mining Kits, which are very popular in the Sinnoh Region considering that they have the Underground.
Man: If you go to the Melodic Mines, you can use the equipment here to dig into the walls and find treasures.
Ash and Lillie nod as they leave the house. As they continue to walk around the town, they find three urns, and suddenly, the middle urn pops out a Blacephalon. Lillie is frightened a little.
Lillie: That's Blacephalon, it likes to scare us for energy.
Ash: Not to mention the final Ultra Beast that we need to find.
Lillie has Inteleon battle against the Fire Type Ultra Beast, eventually capturing it. Since they have all the Ultra Beasts, they decide to show the beasts to the woman at the Serenity Seaside.
Woman: (Sees Nihilego) That's Nihilego, it's Tomas' favorite. Nihilego tend to get lonely and require a lot of attention, and they're capable of giving just as much kindness as they'd like to receive. (Sees Buzzwole) That's Buzzwole, Buzzwole are confident in their strength, and like to show off that strength to others. While they do compete with each other, it's not about winning or being stronger than other Buzzwole. It's all about showmanship and mutual appreciation. (Sees Pheromosa) Ah, Pheromosa, Pheromosa like to show off their beauty as much as Buzzwole like to show off their strength. They tend to be more introverted, though. They are usually the type to have a few friends that they're really close to.
Ash: Looks like she is going to tell us all about the Ultra Beasts.
Lillie: Yeah.
Woman: (Sees Kartana) Kartana, it's nice to meet you. Kartana are normally passive and polite, but are fierce when angered. Kartana know to pick their battles, however, so you don't have to worry about setting off their fuse accidentally. (Sees Celesteela) Celesteela really does bring to mind the moon. I'm not sure why, but I feel like Kaguya would be a name that suits Celesteela. (Sees Xurkitree) You brought Xurkitree! That makes me want to jump for joy. Speaking of which, when Xurkitree is happy, it lights up and does a silly dance. It's delightful to watch.
Ash: Four more...
Woman: (Sees Guzzlord) Guzzlord is a big eater. It's like the Ultra Beast equivalent of Snorlax. I wonder which one would win in an eating contest? (Sees Naganadel) Poipole is the cutest UB, in my opinion! It's really popular in Ultra Megalopolis too. It's a Starter Pokemon there. Aside from Cosmog, which is a Legendary Pokemon, Poipole is the only UB we know about that evolves. (Sees Stakataka) Stakataka is itself a stack of Stakataka! Similar to how Zygarde is formed from multiple cells, Stakataka is a large group of small organizations joined together. (Sees Blacephalon) That's every Ultra Beast known of, excluding the legendary ones...my mind is blown. I have something I'd like to give you as thanks for being such a commendable trainer that all these Ultra Beasts accept you.
Then they are given the PokeRadar, which is something that alerts them to the presence of nearby Pokemon. Some have reported a higher likelihood of seeing Shiny Pokemon.
Lillie: Well, looks like we got something good.
Ash: I agree. (Leaves the Ultra Beast Playground)
