Johto Part 15

After arriving at the radio transmitter room, they use Murkrow as it yells, "The password is...Hail Giovanni!"

Murkrow screams the password and mimics the voice of Petrel, and the voice-recognition door opens.

"Looks like this is the generator. Should we destroy it?" Alice asks.

"We should see if we can turn it off first." Ash says, but they are stopped as they hear a voice. "Hold it right there!"

They turn around and see a red-haired woman standing in front of them. "We can't let a brat like you do as you please forever. It'll hurt Team Rocket's pride over and over again. Making it lessen, you see. …So, it's time to finish you."

Ash says, "Judging by the outfit...you must be another admin of Team Rocket...or perhaps, the commander of this base..."

"However strong you may be, if the three of us fight at the same time, you'll have no chance of winning. Don't you agree? Hee hee hee! Sorry, baby. Now, get ready to be thrashed." The admin named Ariana says as two more grunts surround them.

"Hold it! A three-on-two battle? That is so unfair! Typical of Team Rocket to be so sneaky. Allow me to join the battle!"

They turn around and see Lance coming towards them. Ash smiles and says, "Lance, you're here just in time."

"Sorry, I have to defeat some grunts in the way." Lance says.

"What? You had an accomplice? Where is your sense of dignity? As an interim boss in the place of Giovanni, I'll show you how wrong it is to meddle with Team Rocket!"

They send out five Pokemon which are Arbok, Gloom, Murkrow, Drowzee, and Grimer. Ash and Alice go for Noctowl, Pikachu, Eevee, and Corsola, and Lance goes for his own Dragonite. Noctowl goes for Psychic, which confuses Arbok, and Pikachu goes for Thunderbolt at the Murkrow. Eevee uses Crunch at the Drowzee, Corsola uses Bulldoze at Grimer, and Dragonite uses Fly on Gloom, all five attacks clash at each other, and eventually, Team Rocket's Pokemon are defeated.

"Tch, you really are strong. It's too bad. If you were to join Team Rocket, you could become an Executive." Ariana mutters.

"Yeah, Uncle Giovanni gave me that offer, but we turned down." Ash yawns, "Don't you have any better excuses?"

"But that's fine. The broadcast experiment was a total success. It doesn't matter what happens to this hideout now. We have much bigger plans. You'll come to appreciate Team Rocket's true power soon enough. Enjoy yourself while you can… Hee hee hee…."

Just then, all the Rocket members retreat and abandon the base, Lance says, "Sorry, Ash and Alice. I saw how well you were doing, so I just hung back. Now, all there is left to do is to turn off that odd radio signal."

They rush to the generator and they check out the generator, and Lance says, "It's this machine that's causing all the problems. I don't see a switch on it… We have no choice. We have to make all the Electrode faint. That should stop this machine from transmitting that strange signal. It's no fault of the Electrode, so it makes me feel sad. Ash, Alice, let's split the job."

Ash and Alice nod as they start working at the machines. Ash and Alice go for Marowak and Sandslash to battle the Electrode, defeating them before they all use Self-Destruct, which might cause problems in the generator.

"Lance, we took care of them!" Ash says.

"And so is here." Lance says as he looks at the generator, which is shutting down. "That odd signal has finally stopped. The lake should be back to normal. You're the best! Let me thank you on behalf of all the Pokémon. Oh, yes. You should take this. I found it here, but I don't have any need for it."

Just then, Lance takes out an HM for Whirlpool, Ash says, "Are you sure we can take this? I mean...it is one of the HMs that we don't have..."

"Of course." Lance smiles. "Teach it to get across wild water. But keep this in mind. You can use that out of battle only with the Badge from Mahogany Gym."

"So we need the badge first..." Alice sighs.

"Ash, Alice… The journey to becoming the Pokémon Champion is long and difficult. Knowing that, will you keep going?"

"You bet I will." Ash says. "Even though I am already the Kanto Champion, I am going to become the Johto Champion next."

" I see. No, you're right. If you would give up that easily, you would have never chased that dream in the first place. I look forward to seeing you again!"

After that, Lance leaves and Ash and Alice are now leaving the base as they are heading to Magohany Gym.

Once they get into the gym, they feel cold as they see the field made of ice. Alice says, "Great, Ice Type Gym, my favorite."

"I know, you like Ice Types." Ash says. "But I have to admit, this place sure is cold..."

They find the Gym Guide as he says, "Pryce is a veteran who has trained Pokémon for some 50 years. As you'll find, his attacks will make you shiver in this freezing Gym. Are you ready to be frozen solid? I mean-keep up a hot fighting spirit against ice!"

"Yeah..." Ash says as they walk on the ice, which is very slippery as he crashes into an ice, which also moves forward and crashes into another ice block.

"Ash, are you okay?" Alice asks with concern.

"I'm fine...this Gym sure is tricky..." Ash says as they leave the first room to the second room, where two trainers are there as well as the ice puzzle.

"To get to Prycec, our Gym Leader, you need to thin before you skate." Skier Diana says as she sends out Jynx. Ash goes for Ninetales, as he swiftly defeats it using Flamethrower and Hypnosis. "I won't lose to you in skiing."

"Yeah, you might be a pro skier, but I am a battler." Ash says as he challenges the next Gym Trainer, a Boarder named Patton.

"The Gym has a slippery floor. It's fun, isn't it? But hey! We're not playing here!" Patton sends out two Swinub to battle, and both of them are easily defeated by Ash's new Red Gyarados.

"Do you see how serious we are?" The Gym Trainer asks.

"I know." Ash says as they continue the puzzle.

After getting to the final room, there are three Gym Trainers as well as a giant ice maze once more. The third trainer is a Boarder named Deandre, and he says, "Hey, hey, are you shivering? Are you scared to fight me?"

"Of course not." Ash says as he sends out Seel, Dewgong, and Seel again. All three of them are easily defeated by Pikachu. "You're so strong, it's scary!"

The fourth trainer is a Skier named Jill, and she says, "Check out my parallel turn!"

She sends out Dewgong to battle, and Ash does the same thing again by having Pikachu defeat it. "No! You made me wiped out!"

And the final trainer is a Boarder named Gerardo. He says, "I know Pryce's secret."

This causes Ash to be interested, but he has to defeat a Seel, a Cloyster, and a Shellder, but with Pikachu's overpowered moves, he manages to defeat it with ease.

"Okay, I'll tell you his secret. He trains every day on top of the ice."

"On top of ice? Weird..." Ash mutters as they manage to get to the Gym Leader, who is sitting on the ice while waiting for them.

"Pokémon have many experiences in their lives, just like we do. I, too, have seen and suffered much in my life. Since I am your elder, let me show you what I mean. I have been training Pokémon since before you were born. I do not lose easily. I, Pryce - the Winter Trainer - shall demonstrate my power!"

He sends out his first Pokemon, which is a Seel, and Ash decides to go with Sunflora. Pryce says, "A Sunflora I see...however, plants will wilt after a harsh snowstorm! Use Hail!"

Seel summons a giant hail as Sunflora is shivering a little, Ash says, "Sunflora, counter Hail with Sunny Day!"

Sunflora manages to change the weather with ease, and then it goes for Bullet Seed, which is super effective against Seel. Seel goes for Rest, and then Snore to deal some damage to Sunflora.

"Rest and Snore...at least it is not Sleep Talk." Alice mutters.

"Sunflora, finish Seel with Solar Beam!" Sunflora uses the move and with the help of Sunny Day, Seel is knocked out of the battle while sleeping.

"Seel is just a warm-up to see how good you are, from now on, here is the real deal." Pryce says as he sends out Dewgong, and unlike Seel, it just straight dives into the pool. "Use Hail and Aurora Beam!"

Both moves cause great damage to Sunflora, eventually knocking it out of the battle. Ash goes for Houndoom as his next Pokemon, hoping a Fire Type will help instead.

"Use Flamethrower!" Ash yells, but Dewgong ducks underwater and evade the attack. Dewgong retaliates with an Ice Beam, freezing Houndoom in solid ice after it loses its footing. Ash has Houndoom turn up the heat, and it breaks free of the ice to dodge an incoming Aurora Beam.

"I see." Pryce says as he orders another Aurora Beam, and Houndoom goes for Dark Pulse to block it. Dewgong dives underwater once again to escape.

"Houndoom, now let's use Snarl!" Ash says as Houndoom goes for the attack, and Alice comments, "The sound waves go faster in the water, which means Dewgong can't dodge that fast."

And after Dewgong is hit and out of the water, Ash has Houndoom goes for Thunder Fang, knocking it out of the battle.

"Humph... You are quite the Trainer." Pryce says, "However, you're still no match with my Piloswine!"

After the Pokemon appears, it goes for Blizzard. The snow cover helps Piloswine disappear into its surroundings, it then strikes Houndoom out with an Earthquake.

"Houndoom, you did your best." And much to everyone's surprise, Ash's third Pokemon for the match is Pikachu.

"Pikachu against a Ground Type? But then again, he did the same thing at Giovanni's Gym." Alice says.

Things start out rough as Piloswine releases a barrage of Blizzard attacks on Pikachu, who struggles to stand up straight on the ice. Ash notices that Piloswine's Blizzard attacks form ice pillars on the battlefield, and so, he commands Pikachu to slide on the ice underneath Piloswine.

"What are you doing?" Pryce is confused about Ash's strategy. Then, Pikachu slides and ricochets off of the pillars, easily dodging the Blizzards.

"Use Blizzard on the whole battlefield!" Pryce says, but Pikachu slides under it and unleashes a powerful Thunder. Almost out of energy, Piloswine uses Rest. Ash tells Pikachu to use Quick Attack before it heals, but he's too late. With its newfound energy, Piloswine uses Fury Attack and Take Down.

"Willow is my middle name. Willow is flexible and not easily broken. I'm not giving up yet." Pryce says.

Ash commands Pikachu to counter Piloswine's Fury Attack with a Quick Attack. Piloswine is hit directly on the nose and slides backward. Pikachu unleashes a massive Thunderbolt, which does nothing to it. Piloswine uses Take Down, and Pikachu jumps on its face and uses Thunder. This causes some damage and creates a hole in the field, which causes Piloswine to fall into the water. This time, Pikachu's next Thunderbolt causes more damage because Piloswine is wet. Piloswine shakes it off, leaving Ash and his friends astounded. It retaliates with Fury Attack, but Pikachu doesn't have enough control to dodge. Ash commands a Thunder, which sends Pikachu flying backward. Pikachu looks exhausted, but stands up, ready to keep fighting.

"I forfeit the match." Just then, Pryce throws the towel, much to the two trainer's shock. "Hmm. Seems as if my luck has run out."

"But why would you forfeit? I mean, we won't know the results unless we fight it to the end..." Ash says.

"What matters is that I saw your strength, and I don't want my Piloswine to be hurt deeper." Pryce says. "I am impressed by your prowess. With your strong will, I know you will overcome all life's obstacles. You are worthy of this Badge!"

Pryce gives Ash the Glacier Badge, and Ash takes it without saying anything. Pryce says, "That Badge will raise the Special stats of Pokémon. It also lets your Pokémon use Whirlpool to get across real whirlpools."

Before leaving, Pryce says, "When the ice and snow melt, spring arrives. You and your Pokémon will be together for many years to come. Cherish your time together!"'

"We will." Ash and Alice nod as they leave the Gym.
