Luke's POV 20 minutes before fleeing:
"Jerry's gone off to find Vic, we might as well help him out," Sasha grunted, stepping over Emily's dead body. Arthur had run off to beat Vic to the front of the school.
"Do you think someone is gonna get suspicious? Call the police?" I asked, following Carlos closely.
"I rigged the phone lines. With the software I've set up, there's no way any calls are gonna be made out of here," Oswald explained, "I've spent a lot of time with technology,"
"All calls?" Camila scoffed in return.
"Okay, maybe there is a minor flaw to my system. All calls that aren't the school's phones," Oswald sneered back.
"We just have to make sure none of the teachers get to the phones," Gustav shrugged.
"Should be easy, Arthur is already on his way to the front. We can get the rest of these chickens without any problems," Kevin spoke, cracking his knuckles with his sword beside him.
"We better get to it, Vic is gonna cause a lot of trouble for us," I explained.
"Smart idea," Carlos smiled.
I followed the cultists' powerful group formation down the hallway, as the annoying siren kept sounding above us. I felt so incredibly cool being with them. People would finally start showing me respect.
"Who first?" Sasha asked, catching me off guard slightly.
"You're asking me?" I replied. Sasha smiled at me kindly.
"Of course! You are our newest member after all, we want to make your initiation unforgettable,"
I had never had anyone pay attention to me like this. It felt good.
"This one," I spoke, stopping in front of Mrs. Pearce's classroom.
"Say no more," Kevin replied, before bashing down the weak door with his sword. Inside, I heard Mrs. Pearce scream as she cowered in the corner.
"You must be Luke's history teacher," Sasha sneered, putting her hands on her hips.
"Luke, come here, I'll protect you," Mrs. Pearce spoke, fear in her voice.
"I don't need your protection," I spat back. Mrs. Pearce's eyes darted between the cultists.
"It can't be," She paused for a brief moment, "The Hayesville cult,"
"That's right. Props to you for recognizing us," Oswald added.
"That can't be," Mrs. Pearce continued, "I thought you all were robots,"
"We're looking to find them again, we had a little mishap after our time in Hayesville," Camilla explained. "You should've known that, seeing as you're telling the school what we are,"
"It doesn't matter, we're still gonna tear you all limb from limb regardless," Gustav shrugged, taking a step towards Mrs. Pearce
"Don't come any closer," Mrs. Pearce warned, "Luke, I don't know what they did to you, but they're very dangerous people. I taught you better than to-"
Before Mrs. Pearce had the chance to continue, Jerry pelted her with one of the heaviest textbooks we had. It had an early photo of America on it. Mrs. Pearce screamed as the other cultists joined in. I was able to watch this time, not completely revolted. She deserved it. It was a bit of a long process, but the textbooks definitely did the job.
"Moving on," Sasha sighed, wiping blood from her shirt.
"Dr. Craig," I spoke, motioning for the classroom a few doors down. Gustav busted down the locked door, revealing Dr. Craig bracing himself with a scalpel.
"Don't come any closer," He hissed. Without another word Kevin and Gustav grabbed the man and tied him down to one of the lab tables. It was like Dr. Craig wasn't even trying to escape, Kevin and Gustav were just that strong. With another explosion, the classroom was gone.
The cultists were extremely efficient in their ways. I was impressed with how quickly and willingly they ended the lives of so many people in the school. Most of them I didn't know, nor did I feel any different about them afterwards. Gustav had used his incredible strength to pull each of the fire extinguishers from the wall, and puncture them with a knife to render them useless. Arthur had come back to join us, completely covered in blood.
"I got the principal, she got a taste of her own medicine," He smiled evilly. I wanted to know how that went, but there were other pressing matters.
"Let's finish up," He spoke, lighting several barrels of chemicals in the high school chemistry room on fire. Explosions rang out through the halls, causing the fire alarm to begin to sound over the lockdown alarm. "This is gonna force 'em right from the rooms,"
"Brilliant," Sasha sneered, twirling a knife in her hands. Sure enough, certain classrooms were brave enough to try and venture into the hallways to escape the pending fire. We used this to our advantage.
"Where's Jerry?" Carlos grunted, wiping off his knife quickly.
"Trying to find Vic," Oswald replied, shoving several bodies out of his way.
"I think he's found her," Sasha smiled, looking at her cult mark. I was curious as to why she was looking at it with such intent, but I didn't want to ask in the middle of this urgent event.
"Good. Maybe now we can get out of here," Arthur spoke, "I think we've found just about everyone willing to come out, the rest are gonna burn,"
"Here's the birthday girl," Jerry called, running towards us. He had a limp Vic slung over his shoulder.
"Got the lighter?" I heard Sasha ask.
"Yup, it's right here," Luke smiled.
"Hm, this is Vic's, isn't it?" Gustav asked.
"Yeah, she likes to write her name on stuff," Luke replied.
"It'll make it all the more sweet for her. Get ready so say 'bye' to your school," Jerry laughed. Everyone laughed in reply, including me.
"Are you excited to see this place go?" Carlos asked.
"Definitely," I smiled back. Using his knife, Arthur began to puncture the gas lines running along the ceiling of the hallway. They gave out an ominous hissing noise.
"You see, these are highly explosive," Arty started, a mischievous smile forming over his face. I smiled in return.
"Let's blow this joint," Jerry called triumphantly, as we all made a run for it. Arthur dropped Vic's lighter, instantly igniting the gas like a stick of dynamite. Running with them was absolutely thrilling. Never in my life had I expected to run for my life like this. My excitement fuled the adrenaline pulsing through my body as I sprinted through the doors of the school for the very last time. I followed the cultists lead, throwing myself forward and away from the ringing explosion occurring behind me. The fire alarm and lockdown alarm finally stopped, as a giant boom sent the entire building collapsing to the ground.
"What a little explosives can do," Arthur smiled, glancing at us.
"We don't have much time. The police aren't gonna believe a word Vic says, let's head back to your place so we can get you initiated," Jerry smiled, tossing Vic's limp body onto the grass. I led the cultists to my 4-wheeler, hoping it'd be able to hold all our weights.
"The animatronics are usually inside, unless Vic managed to contact them. Nick and Liv have really weird schedules, but if they're home, I can lure them out," I explained, beginning to drive.
Somehow, the cultists all managed to fit atop the small 4-wheeler and stay put. Carlos explained that they had gotten used to riding in tight spaces when they needed get-away cars. The 4-wheeler definitely drove a little slower with our combined weights, but we reached Nick's house in a reasonable time. And just as luck would have it, the animatronics were still there.
"I'll go distract them, you guys can sneak in from the back," I instructed, opening the garage.
"That 'a boy, Luke," Jerry smiled, dismounting from the 4-wheeler. The cult followed suit. I opened the garage door, feelin the cults' stare. They're watching you, you better not mess up. I took a deep breath, preparing to put on a show. You have to be convincing. Swinging open the house door, I panted loudly. Everyone's attention, including Liv and Nick's, were on me.
"Luke?" Liv asked, running towards me. I hugged her, fake crying.
"They got Vic, they got the whole school," I sobbed, doing my best not to break character.
"I told you guys Vic tried to call," Ozzie shouted, "But the only thing I heard was her telling me she was at the school,"
"Is she alive?" Liv asked, "What happened?"
"I don't know, they made everyone leave the school. T-There was a fire," I continued, pretending to hiccup over my words.
"We have to go over there, there's a chance we can help get everyone out," Liv spoke, motioning towards Nick, who had begun to walk towards the garage door.
"Luke, you stay-" Liv started.
"Wait, what?" Willy asked, "Where's Vic?"
I did my best not to roll my eyes.
"She's at the school, there's a huge fire, and no one knows how it started," I explained, hoping they hadn't heard otherwise from the news.
"We'll find Vic, don't worry," Liv spoke, running out the door to follow Nick.
"Glad you made it home, Luke, are you sure you don't know how the fire started?" Arty asked. I nearly forgot I was supposed to be playing the sad card.
"Of course not, I was sitting in my classroom when I heard an explosion, then the fire alarm went off, and everyone had to evacuate," I started, sniffing every now and then, "But when I got outside, the fire had spread and I couldn't find Vic,"
Willy eyed me from the couch as if reading my thoughts.
"You're tellin' me the entire place went up in flames?" He asked.
"Yeah, by the time the firemen got there," I replied.
"Aw, you poor thing, come sit down, you must be terrified," Sara comforted, placing a hand on my shoulder. I heard the Camaro engine rev into the distance. Any time now. As if right on cue, the lights in the house began to flicker.
"Losing power?" Cammy asked, examining the ceiling. A loud laugh echoed through the room, sending Willy straight to his feet.
"Luke, I swear by all the good in this world-" He started, pointing at me. I sneered, crossing my arms.
"Miss me?" Jerry asked, stepping in through the garage.
"How the Hell," Gus asked.
"Jerry?" Sara added.
"That's right," Jerry shrugged, before the other cultists joined him, "Well done, Luke,"
"You were in on this? You actually brought them back?" Willy shouted.
"Ah, Willy, you're just the guy I needed to talk to," Jerry smiled.
"Get out of here, right now," Arty growled, "You are not welcome here,"
"I don't need to be welcomed, I have an entourage wherever I go," Jerry shrugged, "Now, all of you are probably wondering what's going on, and where your precious little Vicky ended up,"
"If you hurt her, I swear-" Willy started.
"Cool your jets, I didn't hurt the little ankle biter. She's in a little bit of a coma right now. She's probably waking up right now. Just for you, I left her as the only survivor," Jerry explained.
"What did you do," Sara breathed towards me.
"We got rid of the school," Sasha shrugged snidely.
"By only survivor, you mean-" Cammy started.
"That's right, everyone there is dead, take it in already," Jerry barked.
"You freak, why would you do that? Those were innocent people," Ozzie shouted.
"Look who's talking, all eight of you have a rep for murder. It's not like our case is any different," Camilla shot back.
"Just listen to their souls," Jerry smiled, closing his eyes. The screams of thousands of voices filled the room.
"You had no reason to kill them," Knighty Knight said.
"Hush, little kiddies, Uncle Jerry is here," Jerry smiled, as the voices faded.
"Luke, why would you let them do this?" Gus asked.
"I've literally told all of you this before. I hate each of you, I hate Nick and Liv, I hate Vic, and I hate this entire town! I just want to be with my family," I screamed, stomping my foot. Willy shifted his weight, obviously not phased by my temper.
"What a noble cause. We're right here for you, Luke, and we're going to do everything here you want," Jerry smiled mischievously, "But first, we're going right back to where we belong,"
"Oh no you're not, you piece of garbage," Arty sneered back. The tension in the room was rising, and I could tell a fight was going to ensue.
"Oh yeah? I don't think any of you know a lick of dark magic, so none of you have room to talk," Jerry shrugged back.
"We are going to send you right back to where you belong, you are not going to get away with this again," Ozzie threatened. The cultists all chuckled.
"How? Tell me, please do," Jerry laughed.
"We're going to beat you to a bloody pulp," Arty snickered.
"Unfortunately, we're not inhabiting actual bodies right now," Kevin stated.
"Luke, you're much more than one of them. I can't believe you enabled the murder of your own school friends," Willy growled.
"Oh shut up, stop trying to guilt trip the kid," Sasha replied. Willy's eyes shot towards Sasha.
"You see, Willy, we have you at a great disadvantage. There's only eight of you, and nine of us," Jerry explained, "So it would be great if you all would come quietly, and let us do our thing,"
"Not a chance," Willy sneered back.
"Stand back, chico, this is about to get messy," Carlos whispered. I stepped behind him.
"We're gonna give you one last chance to send yourselves back," Willy spoke. The cultists roared with laughter.
"One," Willy started.
"There's no point in trying, you idiot," Camilla taunted.
"Two," Arty continued.
"Alright, let's do this then," Jerry growled, putting himself in a fighting position.
"Three,"
Vic's POV:
"Follow this pencil with your eyes," A full-bodied nurse spoke, holding a broken pencil in front of my face. My heart pounded as I did my best to stay put. I had tried very desperately to explain to the officers that Jerry was back, but they played it off as me being mentally unwell. Now, I was being tested for any injuries.
"Please, ma'am, I need to go, I have a child at home," I spoke, following the pencil. The nurse ignored me, scribbling something down on her paper.
"Walk forward five steps," She instructed. I rolled my eyes, getting to my feet from the plastic chair I was in. Walking forward as straight as I could, the nurse continued to scribble on a paper. She then mumbled something into her radio transmitter.
"I don't see anything wrong with you, we'll let you go after you complete a witness report," She spoke rudely. I didn't have time to write a witness report, but I didn't want the police investigating me more than I had to. With any luck, the cultists are being beaten up right now. The nurse left the room, slamming the door behind me. I stared at the DUI warning posters on the wall, trying to calm myself down. I needed to get back home before the cultists got ahold of the animatronics. You can run now, you know you can escape. But that's something Vic Halifax would do, not Victoria Hawthorne.
"Victoria?" One of the detectives asked, entering the room.
"Yes, sir," I replied, nodding.
"We just need you to fill out a report. You haven't sustained any injuries, so you best be getting home to rest. We know how stressful this situation has been for you, and we offer you our sincerest condolences," The detective spoke, stroking his beard. I nodded, accepting the clipboard from him. With my shaking handwriting, I wrote as quickly as I could in order to leave. I wrote down the entire truth, even though no one believed it. They don't need to believe you, you know what you saw.
"Done, sir," I replied, handing the detective the clipboard.
"Alright, thank you, I'll escort you out the door,"
Pounding the gas, I raced from the school parking lot towards Nick's house, catching up to Nick's Camaro on the freeway. We exchanged very confused glances, before the reality of the situation hit us. There was no one at the house but the animatronics and the cultists. Without another thought, I swerve through each of the cars like a madwoman. Making great, but illegal time, I drifted into the driveway. Yanking the keys from the ignition, I sprinted into the house, followed by Liv and Nick.
"Vic?" Ozzie asked upon seeing me.
"Oh my gosh," I breathed, leaning against the wall.
"Vic, what on earth," Liv panted, joining me.
"Where'd Luke go?" I asked.
"He hasn't returned yet," Sara replied.
"Didn't you get my call Ozzie?" I asked, still trying to catch my breath.
"I could barely hear you, it kept cutting out," Ozzie replied. The animatronics seemed somewhat off. I couldn't blame them though, I was acting like I had just broken out of jail.
"It's fine, I'm just glad they haven't made it back yet," I smiled, placing my hands on my head.
"What the Hell is going on?" Liv asked.
"Jerry is back, Luke brought them back," I explained.
"Wait, what?" Liv spoke urgently.
"They started a massive fire at the school and murdered everyone, it was awful," I breathed.
"He told us you were in danger, that's why we were on the road," Liv explained. Liv and I stared at each other again.
"Do 'ya think they're off with Luke?" Arty asked. My mind raced with possibilities on where the cultists could've gone.
"Vic, are you okay?" Willy asked, instantly catching my attention. As my eyes met his, I felt a strange daze fall over me.
"I'm fine," I spoke, stumbling into him. I felt like I was going to pass out.
"Vic?" Liv asked, as I tried to stand up. I felt Willy grasp my face, pushing his mouth to mine. CPR isn't going to work, dork.
"Geez you two," Liv scoffed, before pausing. "Wait, that's Jerry,"
In a moment, a wave of coldness flooded over me as I suddenly had full control of my body.
"Get away from her," Liv screamed, as I gasped for breath, stumbling backwards again.
"Jerry," I breathed, holding my throat.
"Ah, well, it was worth a shot," Jerry sneered. I gagged, standing upright. Liv, Nick and I stood closely, eyeing the animatronics.
"Welcome home, Vic," Sasha sneered, walking forward. I ran my hand through my hair.
"This is not happening again," I whined.
"We're only taking what's rightfully ours," Gustav shrugged.
"What's the big idea trying to get all touchy with Vic?" Liv sneered.
"You see, there's method to the madness. I can literally suck her soul clean out of her with my mouth," Jerry explained.
"That's disgusting," I replied.
"You're one to talk," Camilla shot back. I glared at her.
"Run, the two of you," I whispered to Liv.
"We're not leaving you here to die," Liv hissed back.
"You killed your own father, Carlos," I shouted. Carlos stepped back.
"I did not, he was crushed under the lockers, it wasn't my fault," Carlos explained.
"You murdered him. He loved you so much, he just wanted you to have a decent life!" I screamed, trying to win the argument.
"You know what, shut up Vic!" Luke screamed, emerging from the shadows. I gasped. Luke looked so much different from the little boy I knew. He was covered in blood. "Carlos didn't do it on purpose, so stop it,"
"Thank you, Luke," Carlos smiled. I narrowed my eyes.
"How could you?" I asked, staring at him. His eyes had a sense of excitement to them. This is not the Luke I know.
"Since you're all here, we're going to invite you to our ceremony," Jerry sneered. "You know how this thing goes, into my mind you'll be, but this time, Liv and Nick get to join!"
"Wait-" I began to say. Before anything else could happen, I fell to the ground. Everything was black.
"Well this is just great," I heard a familiar voice speak. My eyes fluttered open quickly as I sat upright. I was back in Jerry's mind.
"Welcome," Gus smiled jokingly.
"This is just great," Liv shouted, throwing her hands in the air.
"I can't believe that sucker got the best of us," Willy groaned, pacing across the floor.
"He didn't, we had no way to overpower him. You were the one who stuck out the longest anyways," Sara shrugged.
"Yeah, you three missed our little fight. We tried to give 'em a run for their money, but bein' ghosts and all, they have a bit of an advantage," Arty explained.
"I tried not to hurt Luke, I really did, Vic," Willy explained, helping me to my feet, "But that little bugger was helpin' Jerry out, and I wasn't paying attention to him. He may have gotten a little cut,"
"It's alright, he'll heal up," I replied, turning my attention towards Jerry's field of vision. All the cultists were standing in a circle, and Luke was in the middle.
"What's going on?" Liv asked.
"Welcome to Jerry's mind. That there is everything he sees. So might as well take it in," Ozzie growled, visibly upset at the situation.
"Luke's about to do the ritual with them," Willy explained. All I could do was watch in shock as my little brother chanted several strange words with the cultists in the middle of the floor. A strange green glow filled the room, as a smile began to spread on Luke's face.
"All you have to do is say it," Jerry instructed. Luke took a deep breath.
"Don't do it!" I screamed, knowing very well Luke couldn't hear me. Jerry snickered at my weak attempt.
"I hereby give my soul to this cult forever and always, through the eternities and beyond, through Heaven or Hell, I am bound to them," Luke recited. In a flash of light, the ritual was complete. I shut my eyes, trying not to cry.
"You're brave Luke, just like a lion," Sasha smiled.
"Lions are my favorite animal," Luke smiled back. Jerry snickered mischievously.
"We need to get out of here," I breathed.
"How?" Liv asked, trying to fix her hair.
"Ya' can't until Jerry lets you out, and by the looks of things, we're going to be stuck here for a while," Arty explained.
"We need a game plan. They're going to rampage Ely. Liv, you performed the spell last, do you remember the words?" Cammy asked. Liv shook her head.
"I don't, I'm sorry," She replied.
"That's alright, it's best if you don't remember them. Even just thinking about them can do damage," Sara added.
"We're gonna need to find the spell again, or at least someone who knows the spell by heart," Willy explained.
"The fortune teller," I whispered.
"That crazy woman that sent Luke to tears?" Liv asked.
"She was a cult member at one point, so she's bound to know something," I replied, "She didn't seem to willing to help me out though,"
"Well her life is going to be on the line soon, so she better straighten out," Liv laughed. I smiled.
"Alright, Luke, where to now?" Jerry asked Luke.
"The county fair," Luke sneered mischievously.
"Well this sucks," Liv sighed.
"Excellent choice," Jerry spoke eerily back.
"Well, there's always the chance she hit the road," Willy spoke hopefully, "And with any luck, Jerry will pull you right back out so you can watch. Maybe then you can get her to cooperate,"
"That's true," I replied. Before anyone had a chance to say anything else, Jerry began to speak.
"Where's our designated driver?" His voice boomed around us.
"Damn it," I hissed, feeling myself fall. In an instant, I was back in Nick's house.
"Drive," Jerry growled, handing me a pair of keys I recognized as the truck's. I glared at him. Just do what he says, you need to find the fortune teller anyways.
"You're going to regret all of this," I hissed at Luke, who merely rolled his eyes. There's got to be a way to break the contract. I can't stand to see him like this. I paced out of the garage, taking in the ransacked nature of the house. Whatever fight had ensued was a rough one. Everything had been smashed, and there was broken glass all over the floor. I'm so sorry Nick. I walked towards the large truck that we had parked on the covered side of the house. We only kept it to avoid suspicion, as it had been shown on the news as the escape vehicle to look out for. There's a large chance you're going to be arrested again. The police are going to make the tie between you and your alter ego, there's only so much hiding I can do with the cult. With that, I cranked the engine. Here we go.
