Chapter 2 Snack Time

It is afternoon right now, and my mother has some work to do. So I'm the only one at home, and it is very boring as well. Looking at the picture, it is from Steve and Blue, two of my new friends that I had a week ago. They have visited our house after the time we meet, and my Mother also likes Blue as she is very cute.

"Well, I think I should visit them to see what's going on." I say as I leave the house and walk towards Steve's house. There, I see Steve who is peeking out from the window as he yells, "Hi Ray! Can you help me find Blue?"

"Blue?" I am surprised, but then I realize that Blue is playing hide and seek again, she really likes to do that. So I found her behind the bush of flowers, and then we walk into the house together, with Blue going in from the small door that is below the big one.

"Hi, Ray. Come on in! We're so glad you're here!" Steve says as we share a hug. "Blue and I were having our snack time."

"Oh, I see." Ray says.

Then Blue is missing as Steve asks me to find her, we find that she is under the table. After finding her, she is already sitting at the table.

"It's about Snack Time, and we're having grain crackers." Steve says.

"Grain crackers. That sounds good." I say. "Is that the only snack you have?"

Blue shakes her head, signaling that we're not ready for a snack. "Then what else do you want for your snack, Blue?" Steve asks.

And as Blue puts a pawprint on the wall, I realize what Blue is going to do. Steve says, "Okay, we'll play Blue's Clues. That's a great idea. I love Blue Clues."

I remember that this is a game that Steve and Blue like to play and that we have to find three clues to figure out. So this time we are playing to guess what we are missing for a snack. Steve is cleaning the pawprint as he uses the napkin on the table to clean it up.

"You know, to play Blue clues, we need our Handy Dandy?" Steve asks.

"Notebook. I remember Side Table Drawer holds it, right?" I ask, and Steve nods.

We go to Side Table Drawer and get the notebook from her, after explaining the rules with the song again, Steve says, "Come on, let's go to the bedroom for our first clue."

"Sure." I say.

As we walk to the bedroom, I see a clue on a yellow cup, and I yell, "Steve, I found a clue."

"You found a clue? Where?" Steve asks as he starts to search near and far, he says, "I can't find the clue."

"It's on the table." I sweatdrop, and Steve finds the clue on the cup.

"Oh, a clue! Now, what do we do?" Steve asks.

"We need our notebook." I reply as he takes out the notebook. "So A cup. A big circle on top, and then two lines for the sides, a line on the bottom, and two lines for the design. And we have a cup."

"Well, we can't eat a cup. But I think Blue wants to put something inside the cup." I reply. "But there are a lot of drinks, so I think we need to find more Blue Clues."

Steve says, "You're right, but where is Blue?"

I notice that Blue is under the bed, and I say, "She is under the bed."

Steve also spots her as he gives me a shush look, and when he decides to bend down and look under the bed, Blue goes on top of the bed. And when Steve raises his head again, Blue goes back under the bed.

"What speed..." I say in awe. And both Steve and Blue try a lot of times until Steve catches Blue on top of the bed and laughs. Just then, we hear the sounds of the elephants, and I ask, "What is that?"

We find a picture with four elephants, and they all come to life as the only colored one, the orange elephant, is calling for us.

"Hey Steve, Blue. There you are, you haven't finished my painting." The elephant says. Blue realizes it and she skidoos into the picture, something that I was surprised about when I last come to this place.

"Can you help Blue finish the painting?" Steve asks, and I nod, "I can try."

Then the tasks are painting the big elephant yellow, and it turns out the yellow elephant is the orange's mother. The second one is painting the one with the longest trunk pink, it turns out that the pink elephant is the orange's brother. And finally, the last one is purple, and it is the elephant is the little sister of the orange one.

"Thank you for helping us." The elephants say and Steve says, "You did a nice job at painting, Ray."

"Thanks, Steve." Blue then jumps out of the painting as we decide to chase after her.

"Blue, where are-" Just then, the phone ringing causes Steve to fall down to the ground.

"Are you okay, Steve?" I pull him up and he chuckles a little, "It's the phone."

He answers the phone and the caller turns out to be Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, they tell us that Blue is making a big mess in the kitchen.

"When you meet Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, you're going to love them." Steve says as we go into the kitchen, and I see two bottles with one being salt and the other one being pepper, and they have faces and hands, much to my surprise.

"Hi, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper." Steve says as they greet him. "This is my friend Ray, and it is your first time meeting."

I say, "It's nice to meet you, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper."

"Nice to meet you too." Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper say, and I realize they have some kind of weird accent, but I just brush it off. On the table, there is scattered food, and Steve asks, "Blue? What did you do?"

"Blue knocked over the grocery bag." Mr. Salt says.

"Then let's clean it up first." I suggest, and the others nod. Then they decide to clean the food by using shapes, the first one being circle, and it is the fruit orange. Then the next one is a Square, and we put the cheese next. The third one is a rectangle, and it is a grain cracker. And the final one is a triangle, which is the grape.

"Hey, thanks for helping." Steve says, and then Blue jumps over them and knocks down a cup filled with straws.

"Oh no...these straws are over the place." Steve says as we decide to put the straws back into the cup. Just then, a straw with a pawprint on it appears.

"Steve, I found the second clue!" I say, but the straw is playing hide and seek with Steve as it starts to hide behind the straws from Steve's point of view.

"I don't see it!" Then I decide to grab the cup, and Steve notices the straw.

"That sure is the silliest straw that I've ever seen...oh, it has Blue's pawprint on it. It is our second clue! We need to write this down in our notebook."

Steve takes out the notebook and draws it once more. "First the top, a couple of lines, and the bending part, and then the lines again, and a line straight down from the top to the bottom. There, a straw."

"So what does Blue want for a snack? With a cup and a straw?" Steve asks.

"Come to think about it, a cup can hold a lot of things, but the straw is the accurate confirmation of the drink. I think the last clue might be the decisive one."

Just then, the mail is here, and just like last time, Steve and Blue start to sing and dance to make Mailbox appear, and then Mailbox gives them a letter which is about some friends having snacks. They are having peanut butter and apples, and Steve says, "I love snacks. Don't you."

I nod, and Blue starts to do skidoo again, as I look up at the frame, the picture is not the city like last time, instead, it is a picture of a farm.

"That's so cool. Blue Skiddo, let's go too!" Steve sings and we all go into the farm, much to my surprise.

"Wow, we are on a real farm...there are pigs, sheep, and a lot of chicks with hats." I say.

"And I think the chicks want to tell us something."

The one with the paper hat jumps onto Steve's hand, and he asks, "Hey Steve, Ray, can you help me find my friend?"

"Sure, what is your friend look like?" I ask.

"My chick has the same hat just like mine." The chick says, and Steve and I look for all kinds of chick and eventually find the one with the same paper hat.

"See, you found your friend." Steve says.

"Yes, thank you for helping us." But just as the first chick leaves, the second chick with the red cap and a star on it jumps onto Steve's hand. He is asking to find his friend, so we do it again and find his friend. The third one is a chick with a birthday hat, but this time it is harder because a lot of chicks are wearing birthday hats, and we have to look carefully for the one that has the same hat pattern.

"See, you found your friend too. Now can you help me find my friend? She is a blue puppy that is the color blue." Steve says.

"You mean that silly puppy on your head?" The chicks ask, and I realize that Blue is sitting on Steve's head. "Wow, I can't believe you didn't notice that, Steve."

Then Blue jumps and rushes away, Steve says, "Let's go find her again."

As we are walking back to find Blue, I stop since I notice a giant pawprint on the cow.

"A Clue?" I say with surprise, and Steve hears my sound and says, "Did you see a clue?"

"Yeah...on that cow." I point, and Steve is also stunned like me. "That cow has Blue's pawprint on it. That means the cow is one of our clues."

Steve comes up with something and asks, "Hey, do you think Blue wants to drink a cow with a snack?"

I sigh and says, "I don't think so, you need to write this clue down in your notebook."

Then Steve starts to draw the cow's hand, body, legs, and then a tail, and finally the udder. Steve says, "Hey, we have all three clues, you know what that means, we are going to sit in our..."

"Thinking Chair." I say, and then we rush to skidoo back from the picture, and then Steve sits on the chair.

"Now we're sitting on our thinking chair, let's think. We need to figure out what Blue wants with her snack, and the clues are...a cup, a straw, and a cow."

Steve was thinking that Blue wants to slurp the cow with a straw, but that is hilarious. So we continue to think.

"Cows make the moo sound...and cows produce milk! That's the answer!" I say.

"That's right! Blue wants me to put the milk into a cup and then slurps the milk with the straw. We just figured out Blue's Clues!" Then Steve starts to sing the same dance as before, and then he goes to prepare the milk.

"We're all set, Blue. We got some cups of milk and straws ready." Steve says after he holds three cups of milk and puts it on the table. And then Blue is happy as she licks Steve's face before sitting on the chair to taste the milk.

Just then, we notice that the four elephants from before, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper, and the chicks are also here for snack time, it is a good thing that Steve prepared a lot of food with the help of Mr. Salt and Ms. Pepper. I also have some milk and grain crackers, and I must say that they are good for snack time. After staying for a while, it is time for me to go home.

"Well, thank you for all your help today." Steve says as he starts to sing the So-Long Song, and I also wave goodbye to him while I walk back to my house. Turns out that my mother is not back home, so I decide to go back to my room to find what I am going to do.
