The movement of air whipping above him as he ducked a swing that would have broken bones otherwise, Izuku kicked off the ground to gain distance from his advancing teacher. His face was slick with sweat, dirt and blood because the sith warrior did not believe in holding back during training. If he suffered too many injuries then he would just be made to heal them using the force, another way that the twi'lek warrior claimed he could train.
The reason for this intense sparring session was because both his mother and tutor had seen the sour look upon his face when he arrived home after his first day. He told them what had transpired about how Katsuki tried to pick a fight with him but the school intervened.
But the frustration was visible on his body with how tense he looked so while Inko began working on dinner Talon had taken Izuku to the park for a way to work out the aggression he was feeling.
Talon was clearly enjoying the exercise as she was equally sweaty before she pulled out her lightsaber, upping the stakes in the training. Izuku quickly responded in kind and the clashing of burning plasmic energy could be heard throughout the air.
'Jeez today was stressful,' a certain purple haired tomboy thought to herself while walking back from a convenience store. After placing only seventeenth in her teachers messed up exam and seeing two classmates almost come to blows in the middle of the lesson, she felt that some junk food would take her mind off of things so she'd be ready to knuckle down for the second day at the hero school.
She was munching on some chips when a loud crackle reached her ears. 'What in the hell is that?' she wondered while following the sound that kind of reminded her of welding. Turning a corner to a nearby park instead of seeing a few construction workers fixing something, she was instead witness to two people fighting with what looked like swords made out of shimmering light.
It took her a second to recognize the green haired boy, mostly because she had literally only met him that day but that was definitely her classmate who was fighting against the strange looking red skinned woman. She was prepared to rush over to help her classmate fight off the villain when their movements began to sync up with each other and it looked less like a fight and more like a dance.
From her distance she could tell neither had yet noticed her but that gave her the opportunity to listen in on their conversation.
"Yes Izuku, just like that. Feel your hatred and let it power your swings, let the Force guide your motions," the woman said to her classmate while she swung her blade that cut through a large rock as if it wasn't even there.
Izuku grunted when he hit the ground, using the momentum to roll to his feet, instead of going high he kept low, sweeping at his opponent's feet to force her to flip over him, which he used to try and bisect the woman who managed to block the attack but was pushed further away, to land in a crouch.
Before the fight could continue a melodic tone from a nearby bag made the two of them pause. "Mom must have finished cooking," Izuku said while taking a breath and the strange glowing beam receded into something that Jirou couldn't see.
"Good, we worked up an appetite with this training, but tell me more about this school and the humans you met today?" the woman inquired while sheathing her own blade.
"Well I get the feeling that my homeroom teacher's a lazy bum and might actually be homeless from the way he's dressed," Izuku chuckled while picking up his bag from the nearby bench. "The classmates are… well you know my feelings on Katsuki."
"Of course, your former tormentor, the one you plan to strike down when given a chance or his irritation grows too much to ignore," Talon nodded in response.
"Other than that, there's some really interesting quirks. Not quite sure of the limits of some of them but they would be very useful," Izuku continued his explanation while walking away.
"Then you must do what you can to get those quirks for yourself before we leave this planet." Talon said with finality as the two turned a corner.
'What the hell did she mean by that?' Jirou was left pondering from her eavesdropping place. 'Leave the planet? Did Midoriya make a spaceship or something?'
Kyoka knew she wasn't the most intelligent person in the world, but she wasn't an idiot either and had paid attention in her history and science classes and knew that quirks had stagnated technological progress for generations, but in recent years rapid advancements have been made so it was possible for someone to make a space faring vessel. In fact she recalled an article she had skimmed that talked about some genius kid on I-Island who was building all kinds of interesting gadgets, so it stood to reason that someone making a rocket to get off the planet could be done by someone her age.
'But what was that sword thing he had? Seems really dangerous if it can cut a boulder like it was made of paper but he also seems to have a handle on it. Was that lady his trainer? I know some people with quirks join dojos but that seemed quite a bit different,' walking down the road to keep heading home Kyoka sighed and dumped her empty bag of chips in a trash can that she passed by.
"Whatever, it's not my problem," Jirou sighed and decided to put those thoughts out of her mind. She just had a classmate who really liked fighting apparently, unaware that she had stumbled upon a secret the planet had never seen before.
Izuku scribbled down his notes for the various classes he was in for the first part of the day, despite being a hero school that still meant it was a school and thus had to be boring. But he was never one to struggle academically anyway so the lessons the other teachers were giving didn't cause him problems, but to his right he could see the pink skinned girl was clearly struggling with how frantically she was writing and rewriting the words down on her paper.
Later during lunch he saw that the same pink girl was sitting with a group and Izuku made his way over to their table. "Hey, I saw you struggling during Present Mic's English classes." He commented only to see the girl's features fall.
"Yeah, it's really tough and then we got all those other really hard classes too," Mina sighed knowing that she was going to struggle pretty hard in the classes that didn't involve quirks.
Izuku took a bite of his rice before shrugging. "I could help you, I got pretty good grades back at my middle school, only that bastard did better than me," pointing his chopsticks over towards Katsuki who had somehow managed to get himself stuck between a short haired brunette and the boy with the blue hair and glasses. It was clear that Katsuki was not enjoying his new 'friends' at school because they were laughing and having a good time while he just looked like he wanted to blow something up.
"You really mean it?" Mina happily gasped because she usually only had Kirishima to help her with homework and he wasn't that much better than her.
Izuku nodded. "It'll help me too, I don't know everything so revising and studying with other people will benefit me just as much."
"So you just saw a girl struggling with homework and offered to help her, that's so manly dude," Kirishima grinned proudly at how cool his classmate was, even if he thought the green haired kid was still a bit rough around the edges, there was still clearly a hero in there.
"Maybe it's because I got a thing for girls that have reddish skin and yellow eyes," Izuku smirked while watching Mina's face to see her reaction. "Damn," he muttered when he couldn't notice any difference before pulling out a notebook and writing in some words.
"Are you taking notes on girls?" Mina looked scandalized that she was just hit on then that same person began documenting her.
"No, no. Call it curiosity. I just wanted to see if you can blush," Izuku shrugged while putting away his book again.
"You could have just asked," Mina pouted and muttered.
Izuku let out a chuckle. "Well, where's the fun in that? If I did make you blush, then I know I can sink my claws in and have my wicked ways with you… I sorry, I'm just- It's complicated by my… quirk kind of makes me act out sometimes." He quickly said because he realized that part of his training with his emotions meant that when he was feeling arousal he had a harder time keeping it in and with how much Talon flirted just to rile him up over the long months of training meant that he was probably ready to start working on passion as another source for him to draw from.
It took a moment before the two other teens started to laugh. "It's fine, quirks and puberty just make for a fun mess where everyone is a total spaz," Mina dismissed the concern because she wasn't really too offended about the other boy being so upfront with his comments.
If Izuku had been worried about him feeling passion seeing some of the girls come out to the field after everyone had gotten changed for All Might's class had certainly given him plenty of ideas. He was pulled from his thoughts by the titanic hero's bellowing voice congratulating them all on their unique style.
Izuku was proud of his designs, Talon had shown him various armors used by the sith throughout the generations including the famed Darth Vader who even in the videos of him managed to fill Izuku with an appreciation for how just his appearance was enough to disturb even hardened soldiers. So he wanted to emulate some of that, and had gotten a dark hooded cloak along with an intimidating mask, it covered his face only allowing his pupils to remain visible, the skull shaped mask was a bit plain but he was planning to later etch in sith runes that he had been learning as just using the force would not do. Talon had planned for him to begin learning Sith Alchemy as well. His hardened breastplate made of a dark material served to make him look like a solid wall.
He was quite happy with how it turned out even if it did result in him looking a bit more on the villainous side of things, but Izuku figured that would be fine, otherwise they wouldn't have a category for most villainous looking hero.
But the comment from All Might about two on two battles certainly had Izuku interested. He, like some of the others in the class, had assumed they would just be battling more of the entrance exam robots, possibly as a means for the number one hero to get an idea of where the class was in terms of skill, training and power without the risk of serious injury.
The young sith got even more interested when the instructions further stated that they would be battling each other. Over the sounds of other student's excitement their teacher began to draw lots at random to determine the teams. Himself getting placed on the team with the brunette girl that was hanging around Katsuki earlier.
When the balls were then drawn, Izuku wasn't even able to restrain his laughter. He would be allowed to fight with Katsuki right now, no more waiting weeks for the Sports Festival. It seems that even Katsuki had realized what that meant.
"Err, you know what, randomness is so overdone these days…" All Might started to say because he had been briefed about these two from Nezu and Aizawa the other day. And they had wanted those particular students to have little interaction until they had been able to get a better handle on them.
"What are you afraid that I'll break him," Izuku scoffed. "I promise he'll still be breathing when I'm done."
"Oh please Deku, you couldn't scratch me if I stood still and let you hit me," Katsuki snarled back.
Moving quickly to keep the two rivals separate, All Might coughed into his fist. "This is why I will be changing your teams. Even if a hero has a past grudge with a villain, they cannot let that dictate their actions. If I let the two of you fight then you'll just forget the lesson completely and leave young Iida and Uraraka on their own."
"Gah, fine," Katsuki tossed up his hands in frustration that he was being forbidden from fighting Deku right now, but he understood that it made sense, once they were given the word go he would have, one hundred percent, headed straight towards the green haired nerd to destroy him.
"As a result Team A will battle Team G and Team D will battle Team C," All Might declared before moving on to draw different teams to battle.
Izuku grumbled about the unfairness of not being allowed to fight with Bakugou like he had wanted to, but still followed Uraraka to the building where they were waiting for the opposing team to get set up.
"So um… why do you hate Bakugou so much?" Uraraka asked the boy who seemed to have it out for her explosive friend.
"Because he's a bastard, look, just don't try and get involved…" Izuku said while watching the building for what remained of the fifteen minutes the others had to hide the bomb.
"This is going to be great, you just tell me when they get here and I fry them easy-peasy," Kaminari chuckled at his so cleverly thought out plan. "It's idiotproof."
"Or just proof of an idiot, what happens if you mess up?" Kyoka asked her fellow villain.
"Well then uh," Kaminari shrugged because he really hadn't thought of what happens if he doesn't get his quirk off the right way. "Nah, we got this."
Any further discussion into strategizing was cut off by All Might's voice coming through the ear pieces telling them to start.
After a minute Kyoke began to hear footsteps approaching. "They're coming… wait," she said, raising her hand to stop Kaminari from just jumping out into the hallway. "There's only one?"
The glass window behind them shattering as a cloaked figure burst through was enough to startle the other two teens. Kaminari just grinned and ran towards Izuku, generating sparks with each step. "Indiscriminate Shock One Point Three Million Volts," he shouted as a burst of electricity erupted from his body.
Kyoka shielded her eyes from the bright discharge from her teammates body but the hum she had heard the previous day filled her ears. Looking towards Izuku she could barely believe what she was seeing. "No way?" she gasped out seeing that he was somehow blocking the electricity with that laser sword of his. After a few more seconds of the clash between the forces the lightning ended and Kaminari was left standing in a daze, wobbling back and forth on his feet.
Kyoka was right to assume that her teammate was out for the count but she hadn't expected the kid who displayed telekinetic abilities the other day to do what he did next. She saw the crackles of blue run along his fingertips just before he shot his hand forward and fired back electricity in such a way that it sent Kaminari hurtling out of the doorway, as the blonde passed her by she could have sworn she saw his skeleton light up under the effect.
Now she was trapped between the approaching brunette with some gravity based power and the other boy who took menacing steps to close the distance between them. Firing off her own quirk was enough to make Izuku stumble for a moment before he seemed to start plodding through the effect anyway. She had a fraction of a second to dodge when she heard the humming approach and she rolled to see that the blade had carved straight through the wall without so much as a problem, leaving a glowing scar in the concrete.
"Chill man, that could have fucking killed me!" Jirou shouted at Izuku for what she perceived as reckless behavior with a dangerous weapon.
"Then surrender," Izuku ordered, his voice underneath the mask a bit distorted which only further made him seem more scary.
Jirou was going to do just that when All Might's voice declaring the hero team had won the lesson made both her and Izuku look to Uraraka who had her hand on the paper mache bomb.
Considering that her teammate was out cold from his failed attack and subsequent retaliation, she grumbled about needing to carry him down five flights of stairs when thankfully the blonde's body lifted itself off the ground and she turned to Izuku who had lifted him with his quirk.
Izuku was intent to keep his thoughts to himself during the evaluation unless called upon and called upon he was. "Young Midoriya, that sword of yours is incredibly dangerous."
"I know, that's why I made it," Izuku folded his arms across his chest. "If it was safe it wouldn't make for an effective weapon now would it."
"That is not the point I am trying to make," All Might looked down upon his student. "You could have seriously injured your opponent in what is nothing more than a lesson designed to teach."
"I had everything under control," Izuku said indignantly. "My saber is an extension of myself, I gave her ample opportunity to move out of the way and if not, then I would have stopped just before contact."
"I just think it's far too dangerous for someone to be carrying something like that around." All Might disagreed. He knew plenty of skilled heroes used weapons in their fighting styles and even some like Yoroi Musha or Nyikang, but they were not teenagers. Even the older students tended to have blunted weapons or simple submission type support gear.
Kyoka was standing off to the side biting her lip as she recalled seeing his movements from the previous day and she could tell that Midoriya was skilled with it from what she had witnessed with the red skinned woman. Deciding to cut into the conversation that did involve her she spoke up in defense of her classmate who for now she didn't think he was a threat, just a bit too much for someone like her to fight for her first time.
"Sensei, I didn't really mind, I know Midoriya can handle that thing, I was just a bit irritated by how overwhelming he was in the fight," Jirou coughed into her hand. "I've never even really been in a fight before and I've seen Midoriya train with his teacher."
"When did you see Talon and myself?" Izuku questioned when his classmate would have been witness to their sparring.
"The other day I just stumbled upon you two in the park, I thought she was a villain at first because she was really coming at you but I guess she's just a tough teacher," Jirou answered with a shrug. "I've seen you move around and swing that thing at her so I knew not to get hit if that can cut through a boulder without any resistance."
"Huh, I'll have to work on recognizing the presences of other people since I shouldn't have been unaware that you were there in the first place," Izuku muttered because that was something he was going to bring up with Talon that he didn't even notice that he had someone watching him.
"I still don't see that as a good idea, what if it fell into the wrong hands or went off on it's own," All Might inquired.
"Not possible, I doubt there's more than a handful of people on the planet that could turn this on, here give it a try," tossing the handle towards his teacher who caught it and then began to inspect it.
"Hmm, the button doesn't work, maybe a switch of some kind?" All Might mused while fiddling with the tool in his hands.
"Sort of," Izuku held out his hand and pulled the saber back to him with the force. Then held it aloft and disassembled the weapon to show everything on the insides. "It has interconnected parts that are all required to turn on at the same time, only someone who has built one themselves and can manipulate the innards of the saber when the button is pressed could ever hope to turn it on," quickly rebuilding it to display the harsh red plasma beam shooting out of the end.
The saber quickly disappeared after a second. "And once I stop exerting control over it, the blade goes away, there's more to it than that but I doubt you'd really understand it," Izuku said once he could tell that anything further would go over his teacher's head. It had taken Talon a bit of explaining the intricacies of his weapon to him before they had even planned on going to get his crystal.
Without much else to say All Might just waved off the two teams and continued his lesson.
Team B was the next to go and the instant freezing over of the building by Todoroki had gotten a strong reaction from the watchers back in the tent. "That's certainly impressive," Izuku commented while mentally noting that this boy could pose a significant challenge in a fight with that elemental ability of his.
"Oh man this class has way too many powerful people in it," Sero complained when the fight between the team C and D started with Bakugou exploding out of the place where they had hidden the bomb to take out his aggression on his opponents.
'Fucking Deku, hiding all that power of his and then damn half and half,' he thought to himself moments before punting the purple haired boy out of a second floor window before turning his anger and frustration onto the black haired girl who tried to defend herself from his onslaught. Seeing that he actually had competition in the class only infuriated him because he'd lived for years under the notion that he was the best and was going to be the number one hero. He was pulled away from Momo by Iida who had hurried over when All Might announced that the fight was over and the villain had won.
The rest of the class was pretty appalled by the cruelty their classmate could display, it was a bit unnerving for them to see three different approaches to domination in succession with the menace that Izuku gave off, to Todoroki's clinical freezing and lastly with explosive destruction.
Momo was walking with a limp back into the tent and bleeding quite a bit, expecting to just give a report on how bad she lost before going to see Recovery Girl, she was surprised that the moment she entered she was pulled into a chair by Midoriya and he was holding his hand over some of her burns. "What are you-" she started to say before she felt a cooling tingle move through her body.
"Don't worry, shh shh, it's going to be okay," Izuku said calmly while he applied his training in the force heal to mend the girl who suffered under Katsuki's wrath. He had received his own fair share of burns over the years from that explosive quirk and that might have been why he had gone out of his way to tend to his classmate, he just couldn't stand to see someone else suffer like he had.
The young lady watched in amazement as her burns receded and the aches and pains she was feeling went away. "Your quirk can heal." She said almost unbelieving what she was feeling.
"The Force can do many things," Izuku said while concentrating on the more serious injuries Momo had sustained. "This is just one of them, accelerating the healing process."
Others in the tent were too stunned to really do anything, but All Might knew that this report would certainly be impressive for the rest of the U.A. staff.
