Prologue 8
On the first day of Summer Camp, Ash, Mark, Lillie, and Gladion arrive at the camp early, Ash says, "Looks like we only have one more member left and we will be okay."
"That is true." Lillie says, and then they see a Poliwag nearby. "Look, a Poliwag!"
The Poliwag sees them and gets frightened easily. The 4 of them decide to chase the Pokemon, but after a while, it gets lost.
"Hey, where did he go?" Lillie asks.
"Poliwag, where are you?" Ash yells as they all get into the bushes, after getting out, they see a girl crying. Mark decides to comfort her. "Hey, are you alright?"
The girl looks at the four of them and Mark says, "My name is Mark, this is my brother Ash, and our friends Lillie and Gladion. What are you doing here?"
The girl looks down and says, "My leg hurts..."
Ash looks at the injury and says, "This is bad...we must heal it." He takes out the Handkerchief and then places wraps around the injury. Mark says, "How about I help you, brother? Pain Pain go away!" Mark waves his arm as he wants to cheer the girl up.
The girl winces as she moves, "It is still hurt..."
Mark says, "Come on, don't give up until it is over." He then grabs her up and holds her in his arms, causing her to blush.
"See, you did it." Lillie says while grinning, "By the way, what is your name?"
"My name is Serena..." She says timidly.
"Serena...you are Serena Yvonne, right? That means our group is here."
"Wait, are we the same group?" Serena asks in surprise. "I didn't see it last night."
"Yes." Mark says. "Now let's get back to the camp."
Then they all head back to the camp. Though they are late, Ash manages to tell Professor Oak that Serena is injured and she needs to heal, so he overlooks this as they start the camp.
After getting to know one another in the group, Mark and Serena are talking most of the time, this makes Ash, Lillie, and Gladion know that they will be together in the future.
Ash asks, "So which section are we doing first?"
Lillie looks at the schedule and says, "We are doing the Unova one. So we should find Professor Juniper."
Once they get to the Unova Area, Professor Juniper has been waiting for them.
"So you must be Group A. Hello to all of you, I am Professor Juniper from the Unova region." Professor Juniper introduces herself.
After the five campers do the same, Professor Juniper is interested in Ash and Lillie as she smiles, "So you are Ash and Lillie, it is an honor to meet you."
"The pleasure is ours, Professor Juniper." Ash shakes her hand.
Lillie looks around and she finds a person missing, she asks, "But where is Alder?"
Professor Juniper sighs, "He said that he had something to do, so I will be teaching you Unova for today."
Ash and the others nod as they won't be seeing him today, then Serena asks, "So Professor, what is your research?"
Professor Juniper says, "Good question. Usually, I am working on the Unova Legends. You guys have heard of the story of the twins, right?"
"You mean the twin princes who believe Truth and Ideals?" Mark asks.
Professor Juniper nods, "Good, you see, I am researching more about Zekrom and Reshiram, these two dragons are vital to today's Unova."
Ash exclaims, "That's cool."
Professor Juniper takes out 3 Pokeballs. "If you become a trainer in Unova, you can start with these three."
She tosses three Pokeballs and three Pokemon appears, Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott. Serena says, "Wow! They all look cute."
"Yes, how about 5 of you take care of these 3 for the camp, this is also the key to earn points." Professor Juniper suggests.
"Sure, Professor." They all nod as they try to raise the three Pokemon.
While they are trying to bond with the three Starter Pokemon, Professor Juniper also prepares some of the activities for them. She takes out an Unova Map and 20 badges on the ground.
"In Unova, there are 20 gyms in twenty different cities, the test is simple, in front of you is a map of Unova, can you put these badges on the city they were in? Each badge will give you 0.5 points." Professor Juniper says.
Ash, Lillie, Gladion, and Mark are now starting to work on the gyms, while Serena is a little unsure.
Serena asks, "Why are there 20 badges? I thought that you only need 8 badges to enter a League..."
Ash says, "There is a special rule in the Pokemon League system, if you get 8 badges, you have to enter the League Conference, battle the Elite Four, and then the Champion. If you get 16 badges, you can just challenge the Elite 4 without entering the League Conference, and then the Champion. But if you get all 20, you can just challenge the Champion."
"That is a little confusing...but I guess that is how the League works, right?" Serena asks.
"That's right. As for why there are 20 gyms, let's say that there are 18 types in the world, and for 2 gyms, there are multi types. For example, Striaton City and Aspertia City are both gyms with Multi Types." Ash says.
"For type-related gyms, let me show you some of them." Mark says. "This is the Insect Badge, it belongs to Castelia City, the biggest city in Unova."
"Castelia City, I always wanted to go there and taste their ice cream." Lillie says.
"Me too." Serena also thinks about the ice cream.
Gladion sighs, "Girls... anyway, what is this one?"
He shows Ash a badge with 5 purple circles. "Oh, this is the Toxic Badge, which we can get in the city where a lot of movie fans like to go!"
Mark says, "I know! Pokestar Studios! In Virbank City."
"Correct." Then Ash takes the 3rd badge. "This one is Voltage Badge, it is in Nimbasa City."
"Nimbasa?" Lillie asks, " I really don't know that place."
"Are you serious? That is where the Battle Subway is, it also has a music hall. Not only that, but the gym leader is also a world-class fashion model! She also made her gym a roller coaster area!" Ash says.
"Wait, that is Nimbasa City? I thought it is Driftveil City." Lillie asks in confusion.
"Lillie, Driftveil City is famous for its market. Is this the badge that goes here?" Gladion asks as he shows the Quake Badge, and Ash nods.
While putting in other badges, it doesn't take them too long to finish all of them. After Professor Juniper looks at it, she smiles, "You guys are great, you got all of it correct. That is 10 points for you."
Professor Juniper knows that being the World Champion's children, they are much more talented than others, so she decides to teach them more than the rest of the campers, as she shows them the Pokemon which are native in Unova. They only get 8 points because Oshawott isn't paying attention to the battle and it causes the opponent to have a chance to attack.
After that, they are asked to take a sword and used it to take on the challenge of cutting the targets. Ash uses Keldeo Sword, Lillie uses Cobalion Sword, Serena uses Virizion Sword and Gladion uses Terrakion Sword, as for Mark, he just uses the real sword. They cut an amount of 47 targets in 5 minutes, which lets them earn 9 points. The last challenge they do on that day is the quiz on Unova. With Ash's help, they get 100, so they earn 10 points in the end.
The next day, Ash and his friends go to the same camping place, Professor Juniper is already there to wait for them.
"Welcome, campers. Now for 2 days, we are going to have our Unova Champion, Alder to be here with us." Professor Juniper turns around, but then her face becomes mad.
"Ash and his friends turn around and see him standing there, Gladion asks, "Is he sleeping?"
Ash says, "Sleep and stand at the same time... I think it is cool..."
Everyone sweat drops at Ash's words, while Professor Juniper walks towards him and yells, "Alder, wake up!"
He suddenly wakes up and says, "Oops I am sorry, I was so excited that I couldn't rest." He starts to laugh, making everyone awkward.
"Geez, how does he become a champion?" Lillie asks Serena.
"Despite this weird behavior, it is said that he had a strong Volcarona." Serena says.
"Anyways, my name is Alder." Then Ash and his group introduce themselves.
"I will teach you how to survive in the wild, so you guys have prepared, right?"
"Yes." The five campers nod.
Professor Juniper says, "Well, I will also be by your side since I am the one who gives scores."
They nod and they head to Viridian Forest, they learn how to make a tent and observing Pokemon. Alder also shows them his training with Bouffalant and Volcarona, which makes them in awe. After a while in the camp, Ash asks, "Alder, can I have a battle with you?"
This causes surprise to everyone and Lillie says, "Ash, he is a champion!"
Ash pouts a little, "I know, but I want to try."
Alder laughs and says, "It is alright, Ashton."
Ash sweatdrops at the wrong name, "Um... it is Ash."
Then they go to battle, Ash asks Pikachu to use Thunderbolt, but Bouffalant doesn't move.
"What is he doing?" Mark asks in confusion.
"Maybe he is thinking." Serena says.
But then Pikachu's attacks work every time since Bouffalant doesn't move nor counter. Professor Juniper sighs and walks over to Alder. "Stop sleeping! Alder."
Then he wakes up, causing everyone to anime fall.
"Oops, I fell asleep again. Bouffalant, use Head Charge." Alder laughs as Bouffalant starts to charge at Pikachu.
"Pikachu, dodge it!" After Pikachu dodges the attack, Bouffalant suddenly turns around and charges at Alder, causing him to get smacked into a nearby tree. "That is great, Bouffalant... Your Head Charge was improved."
Alder then faints on the spot, and the children go to see if he's okay, he assures him that he is fine.
On the last day, Ash's egg starts to glow. Everyone comes and watches, then the egg turns into an Eevee.
"Wow, it is an Eevee!" Then Eevee looks around and nuzzles Ash. "Wow, she is a cutie."
"Yeah, you are right. Eevee, I am Ash, I am your new trainer." Eevee starts to call him Dad, she also calls Lillie mother, causing the two kids to blush while others laugh.
"Okay, your Unova section is over, your score is 93. A wonderful score."
Everyone cheers at the score. " I hope you guys will come to visit Unova. See you and best wishes."
After getting back to rest, Aurora is already friends with Serena's mother Grace, so the mother and daughter all have dinner together with the group.
For their next section, they go to the Galar Section, as this time they find Professor Magnolia waiting for them.
"Such young dear children, my name is Magnolia, and I will be the one that gives you scores about the Galar Region." Magnolia says.
Ash and the others nod as they introduce themselves. Ash asks, "So Professor, what are you researching about in your lab?"
Magnolia smiles and says, "My research is quite simple, I was researching about the Dynamax phenomenon."
Lillie says, "I have heard of it, that is the kind of mechanic that can make Pokemon into giants, right? Can we do that here?"
Magnolia chuckles a little and pats Lillie's head, "Sorry dear. To activate the Dynamax, you will need something known as Wishing Stars, and they only appear in Galar and Sevestar.
The others are frowning as they want to try it out, but it seems like they can't. Then Professor Magnolia decides to show them the three starter Pokemon, Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. Though they have a little problem and that is with Sobble, when it cries, everyone in the area is also crying. Lillie is the quickest one to act as she hugs Sobble, calming it down.
As for the other two starters, they are a little naughty, as Ash and Mark are trying to calm them down as well.
"Since you know the first time, so you should know the rules." Professor Magnolia takes out a giant badge, and Ash is confused, "Do we need to split them up and then place them on the map?
"That is correct, though it shouldn't be a problem to you, right?" Magnolia says as they try to put the badges into the place.
Serena says, "The Galar Region sure is big...just look at that Wild Area..."
Lillie says, "I know what you mean, but some of the badges are actually to the north here, like this Fairy Badge is in Ballonlea, which is a gloomy and magical place."
Ash says, "And this Water Badge is for Hulbury, Reisa's mother is the Gym Leader there."
Mark says, "For this one with the giant vault, Hammerlocke, it is Dragon Type."
Gladion says, "And the Dark Badge is for Spikemuth, the only place without Dynamax."
And after Professor Magnolia sees the progress, she gives them each 10 points. In the afternoon, she teaches them about the Pokemon in Galar, and since they just have Unova a few days ago, and they are amazed to learn different regional forms. They only get 6 points because Professor Magnolia is a strict Professor and their three Pokemon are a little naughty.
And they also do a game that is related to the Wild Area, as they need to fill the Pokemon in different weathers. Even though they try hard to make it right, but Professor Magnolia gives them 8 points because they accidentally put some Pokemon in the wrong weather. Like Kommo-o should be in the Sandstorm in Lake of Outrage.
The day after, Ash and the group meet the Champion, who is only 3 years older than them: Champion Leon.
Leon does his Charizard pose, and then he says, "You guys must be the Campers, I am the new Champion of Galar, Leon."
After introducing themselves to each other, Ash asks, "Is it true that you never lose a battle before? How did you do that?"
Leon laughs and says, "I observe every kind of battle and learn all of them. If you do the same thing, you'll be able to do it as well."
Ash has stars in his eyes, and then Leon decides to show them about Gigantamax through projection.
Serena asks, "How is Gigantamax different from Dynamax?"
Leon says, "Good question. Gigantamax, as a type of Dynamax, originated from Eternatus, a Legendary Pokemon who provides the Galar region with Power Spots where Dynamax can be triggered. The Galar Particles left by Eternatus affected the Pokémon living in Galar, giving a few of them the Gigantamax Factor needed for transformation. My master's wife implemented a way to change Pokemon from Dyanamax to Gigantamax, and that is something called Max Soup."
As he teaches more along with Professor Magnolia, Pikachu and Eevee are in awe that they can perform Gigantamax, and they really want to try it out in the future. After a lot of lectures, the group gains a score of 88, they are a little sad, but they know how strict Magnolia is and she assures them that she never gives scores that are over 85, much to their delight.
That is the first part of the Summer Camp. Ash and his group finished the Unova and Galar sections.
I have made Ash's battle with Alder the same in Best wishes episode 52 if you hadn't noticed. The reason I put these two together in this chapter is that their Champions will be changed when Ash is traveling in these regions. I bet you all know who are the new Champions.
