Kanto Part 2

The next day, Ash, Lillie, Insey, and Flora notice that Leaf has already left, but Misty is still in the Pokemon Center, so they decide to greet her. Ash asks, "So Misty, what are you going to do afterward?"

"Well, I have left the gym since I want to train more so I can become a Water Type Master." Misty says. "So I might be traveling around and capture some Pokemon."

Lillie comes up with an idea and asks, "Hey, Misty, how about we travel together?"

Misty is shocked that they will ask her to join them, but she smiles and replies, "Sure, I mean, you four seem to be a strong group. Where are you going anyway?"

Ash says, "We are going to Viridian Forest's Gym, as I am going to challenge all 20 gyms."

"Viridian Forest?" Misty suddenly says in a loud tone and they look at her with confusion. She is having fear on her face as she says, "Sorry, but there are a lot of bugs in that place..."

"And what is the matter with Bugs? I like them." Insey asks. "It won't be that bad, just trust us."

With the others' persuasion, Misty can only agree to go with them as they enter the forest. "Ash, are you sure you want her to join you?" Sylveon asks in a worried tone.

"Well, she is a gym leader, I will be facing her, so yeah." Ash says.

When they hear Misty's scream, they turn around and find a Caterpie crawling in the ground. Insey sighs, "Misty, you are overreacting. That Caterpie is so cute."

Lillie then bends down and says, "Hello Caterpie. Do you want to join our team?"

Caterpie sees Ash and Lillie and nods his head without second thoughts, Lillie then captures him. Misty is not happy and she asks with an angry tone, "Why did you capture that bug?"

"Come on, Butterfree is beautiful. You can't be afraid of bugs forever. What if you find a Pokemon who is a water and bug type?" Insey says, which immediately shuts Misty up.

Kanto Dex Entry No.10 Caterpie: The Worm Pokemon: Bug Type. Its short feet are tipped with suction pads that enable it to tirelessly climb slopes and walls.

Ash takes Caterpie to Misty, he says, "Now Misty, how about you pet it."

But Misty takes a step back and says, "I am sorry but I can't help but be scared of it..."

Caterpie frowns, and Insey doesn't like to see a Pokemon having a broken heart, especially Bug Type Pokemon, she asks with a frown, "Misty, what is wrong with you? All Caterpie wants is to be your friend, why are you so afraid of bugs?"

Misty sighs and says, "I had a nearly dead experience with an Ariados and a Beedrill when I was seven years old. Because of it, I have been afraid of Bug Type Pokemon."

"I see." Flora says. "Then we will help you conquer your fear. Since we have a future Bug Type Master here." All Misty can do is nod slowly and feeling scared at Insey's glare for not liking bug types.

Ash and Lillie take out their Pokemon, Misty is surprised to see that they have Ho-Oh in their team. She asks, "Where do you get a Ho-Oh? No one has ever seen him in 200 years."

"Oh, he found us and call us our parents." Lillie says as she doesn't care about it. Ash asks, "Ho-Oh, can you train with Pidgey?"

"Sure." Ho-Oh nods as it starts to train Pidgey with some moves, such as Quick Attack and Whirlwind. After training for a while, Pidgey begins to glow and the others are delighted. Pidgey has become a beautiful Pidgeotto.

Kanto Dex Entry No.17 Pidgeotto: The Bird Pokemon: Normal and Flying Type. It evolves from Pidgey starting at level 18. Very protective of its sprawling territorial area, this Pokémon will fiercely peck at any intruder.

"Cool, Pidgeotto, you look awesome." Ash says.

The bird Pokemon gives a squeal, and then it notices the Caterpie besides Lillie, it catches the Pokemon, and Caterpie is scared as it screams for help.

"Wait, Pidgeotto! That Caterpie is our friend!" Ash says as Pidgeotto freezes, dropping the worm Pokemon and Lillie manages to catch it in time. Ash asks, "Pidgeotto? Why did you do that? I am sure that Caterpie doesn't have any harm..."

Pidgeotto lowers her head in shame, "I am hungry… I am sorry…"

Ash sighs, "If you are hungry, just say so." He takes out a can of Pokemon food and pours some into Pidgeotto's bowl. "Here, I made this especially for Flying Types like you. Eat up."

Pidgeotto eats it and squeals happily at the delicious food, and they decide to have lunch as a break, much to Misty's annoyance.

After they finish their lunch, they hear a familiar motto as they see a group of three standing in front of them, Jessie, James, and Meowth from Team Rocket.

"It's you three again? What do you want with us?" Flora asks.

"It is simple, we want your Pikachu and Sylveon. Hand it over to us." Jessie says.

"If you want one, just find a Pikachu and Sylveon in the wild and capture it." Insey says.

Meowth says, "Dat Pikachu and Sylveon are rare, it is da perfect present for da boss."

"I think they won't be calling themselves thieves if they listen to us." Ash sighs as they send out their Pokemon to battle. "Caterpie, I will like you to battle them."

After the Pokemon is sent out, James asks in anger, "Are you underestimating us? You are using a Caterpie against us?"

Caterpie is a little heartbroken again and Ash says, "Caterpie, you are not weak, just listen to my instructions. Use String Shot!"

The attack completely incapacitates Koffing before Caterpie muzzles Ekans. Caterpie Tackles Koffing, knocking it into Ekans and taking them both out. Meowth tries to intervene, but he is also wrapped in String Shot.

Jessie grits in anger, "You win this time, but we will be back!"

They then run off and they yell, "Team Rocket's blasting off again!"

"They really are a bunch of idiots." Misty says

"Talk about it, I don't think they will give up." Ash replies.

Lillie picks the Pokemon and says, "You did great Caterpie."

Caterpie feels happy at the compliment, and it starts to glow white, signaling its evolution, and it is now a Metapod.

Kanto Dex Entry No.11 Metapod: The Cocoon Pokemon: Bug Type. It evolves from Caterpie starting at level 7. This Pokémon is vulnerable to attack while its shell is soft, exposing its weak and tender body.

"Metapod, you evolve!" Ash says with Pikachu and Sylveon cheering for it. Misty says, "Wow, Metapod looks cool."

"Does that mean you conquered your fear?" Insey asks with delight. But when Misty feels like a Beedrill is watching them afar, and she says, "No, let's just get to the gym as soon as possible!"

"Well, it is a shame. Let's keep going." Ash says and they walk off. "Hey! Wait for me!" Misty yells when she runs towards them.

As Ash and his group continue their way through Viridian Forest, Misty lets out a shrill scream. The others turn to find her in a tree because she saw a Bug-type Pokémon, though he makes light of her fear.

"What is it this time?" Ash asks with a frown, and then a Weedle appears in front of them. Insey says, "Oh! A Weedle!"

"Well, I'm going to capture the Pokemon." Lillie says. Insey notices some other Bug Pokemon and says, "Then this Weedle is for you, I'll capture the others there."

Lillie has Spearow to battle the Weedle, using the Peck attack, it defeats Weedle and Lillie captures it.

Kanto Dex Entry No.13 Weedle: The Hairy Bug Pokemon: Bug and Poison Type. Often found in forests, eating leaves. It has a sharp venomous stinger on its head.

Insey also captures her own Caterpie and Weedle with a Scyther, after hugging Scyther for his progress, she hears a voice, "That is a nice Scyther you have there."

The group of five turn around to see a woman in her twenties with yellow hair approaching them. She is wearing a green kimono and she is holding a sword in her hand. Ash asks, "Excuse me, but who are you?"

The woman says, "My name is Mandy, my place is not too far from here."

After introducing themselves, the woman asks, "Ketchum, you say? Are you two related to our Kanto Champion Aurora Ketchum?"

"We are, she is our mother." Ash says. "And she is also my goal as I want to challenge the gyms to reach her."

"I see. As you can see, I am a Gym Leader." This causes them to be surprised. "But my Gym is only for those who applied to 16-gym challenge and 20-gym challenge."

"That will be fine, I applied to the 20-gym challenge." Ash takes out the endorsement and says, "I have the signature from my mother."

"Very well." Mandy says as they follow her to the gym, which is a small hut and the battlefield is actually outside. Lillie says, "This Gym looks a little..."

"I know what you are going to talk about, you may think that it is small, but it is good enough for me. Ash Ketchum, are you ready to face me in a battle?"

"Of course I am." Ash says as he steps to the battlefield. Mandy also likes his determination as she also stands to the other side.

Mandy says, "The rules are 2 against 2, and my first Pokemon is going to be Pinsir."

As the Pokemon appear on the field, Ash says, "Since this is a Bug Type Gym, so Flying Type Pokemon will have the advantage for this gym. I choose you, Spearow."

As the bird Pokemon appear on the field, Mandy says, "Let me get the first turn, Pinsir, use Bind."

Pinsir tries to bind Spearow, but Spearow manages to fly high and dodge the attack. Ash says, "Spearow, use Growl."

Spearow growls and Pinsir's attack stat is lowered. "Now use Fury Attack." Ash says.

Spearow uses its beak and wings to attack Pinsir, giving it a lot of damage. Mandy says, "Not bad, but let's power up with Harden."

Pinsir is now shielding itself to raise its defenses, Lillie says, "This is very bad for Ash..."

"I know what you mean..." Insey says.

"Use Fury Attack again!" "Grab it with Vice Grip!"

Both Pokemon clash with their attacks, but they both get a lot of damage. "Now finish it with Peck!" Much to Mandy's surprise, Pinsir is being pecked by the attack until it faints.

"That is a win for you." Mandy says. "But my second Pokemon is going to give you some problem. Go, Metapod!"

As the second Pokemon appears, Flora says, "I think that this time it is going for defense..."

Mandy says, "If you think my Metapod is just a regular Metapod, then you are wrong. Use Electro-Web!"

Ash widens his eyes to see the Pokemon using an electric move, which hits Spearow and causing it to faint. Ash says, "Well, Spearow is working hard in this battle."

"But Ash only has one more Pokemon to use...I wonder what he is going to use." Insey says.

Much to their surprise, Ash is using Weedle for the battle. "A Weedle against my Metapod, interesting." Mandy says.

Weedle goes for Poison Sting, which poisons Metapod as its health gets lowered every turn. Mandy says, "Use your Harden." Metapod shines a little as Ash knows its Defense is raising. Mandy says, "Now use Tackle."

"You do the same." Both Pokemon are using their body to attack, but Metapod isn't taking too much damage. Tracy says, "Use Bug Bite."

Metapod bites at Weedle, which causes it to take some damage. "Weedle, are you alright?"

Weedle gets back up and it glows, signaling its evolution into a Kakuna.

Kanto Dex Entry No.14 Kakuna: The Cocoon Pokemon: Bug and Poison Type. It evolves from Weedle starting at level 7. Almost incapable of moving, this Pokémon can only harden its shell to protect itself from predators.

Ash says, "That's great, Kakuna. Use Tackle again!"

And with the attack, Metapod faints because of the poison, giving Ash the victory.

Lillie says, "He won...and Weedle evolves as well."

Misty sighs, "He is saved by luck, that's for sure."

Mandy says, "I wasn't expecting your Pokemon to evolve, but Beedrill is one of my favorite Pokemon. Congratulations on your Pokemon's evolution."

"Thanks, Mandy." Ash says.

"As your reward, this is your badge, the Cocoon Badge." Mandy says as she gives the badge to him.

"Thank you, Mandy." Ash says as he puts his badge on his shirt, Lillie and Insey also hug him for his win.

Misty says, "Now that you got your badge, can we leave this place as soon as possible?"

Ash says, "I don't think so, it is getting late and it will be dangerous to go outside."

Mandy says, "If that's the case, how about you stay at my place until tomorrow morning?"

The five of them can only agree, as the girls staying at the house while Ash and Lillie setting up camp outside the house.

Here is a new chapter, and this is the first original Gym in Kanto that I made for this story. I didn't mention in the previous chapter, but all the Legendary Pokemon and Mythical Pokemon are being caught in Cherish Balls, not Master Balls. I hope you like this chapter and the next chapter is going to be the second gym battle.
