Kanto Part 5
That night, Seymour takes Ash and Lillie into a hut located on the peak of Mt. Moon, he says, "This is where I have Gym battles with you. I am sure that you have the endorsement for the 16-gym endorsement or 20-gym endorsement, right?"
Ash takes out the paper and says, "I have the endorsement."
As he shows the endorsement to Seymour, Lillie asks, "By the way, Brock, why didn't you ask for looking the endorsement? I mean, aren't Gym Leaders supposed to look at that piece of paper?"
Brock says, "That's because my gym is one of the 8 Gyms that agree to let those without endorsements enter. It is not easy to get an endorsement from officials of the PLA, usually, no names need to prove themselves in the League if they want to get the endorsement, or that the trainer has a family member who is associated with the League and have the member sign for it."
"Just like brother, he got the endorsement from father and mother." Insey says.
Seymour says, "For my Gym, it will be 2 on 2, and this is one of the two gyms that specialize in multitype. This means you need to be ready for what you are going to face."
"I am ready." Ash says as Pikachu also nods in agreement.
"Good, then here will be your first Pokemon, Paras." Seymour sends out the Bug and Grass Type Pokemon, and Ash smiles, "This should be easy if I use a Fire or a Flying Type. So I choose Spearow!"
As the Spearow comes to the field, it squawks a little as it is ready to battle. "I see. You're using a Flying Type. But that won't be easy if you're using type match-ups. Use Spore!"
Spearow is hit by the sleeping spores and it falls asleep. Flora says, "Ash is having bad luck this time..."
Then Paras is using Fury Cutter on Spearow, even though it is not very effective, it keeps hitting it time after time.
"Spearow! I know you can hear my voice, wake up and use Mirror Move!" Ash says.
Spearow suddenly opens its eyes and then it also uses Fury Cutter, which is neutral effective against a Bug and Grass Type Pokemon. Lillie smiles, "Good, Mirror Move is an attack that mimicks the opponent's last used move."
"Now Ash just needs to land a Flying Type move and it will be over for Paras." Flora says.
Paras goes for Poison Powder, which causes Spearow to be poisoned, but Spearow manages to land a Peck, defeating Paras in the end.
"You really are something, Ash." Seymour recalls his Pokemon and says, "But let me show you my next Pokemon, it has been with me since I revived it from a Fossil back in Pewter Science of Museum."
The second Pokemon is an Omanyte, Ash says, "A Rock Type Pokemon that is also a Water Type...then I need to switch out."
Ash recalls his Spearow and goes for Kabuto, Flora says, "It is a Fossil against Fossil battle."
Insey says, "Both of them have the same base stats, with Kabuto being a physical attacker while Omanyte being a special attacker. If anything, Omanyte has the upper hand."
Misty says, "Looks like you all know a lot about the Pokemon..."
"Believe me, being in a big family means that we need to study hard." Insey sighs.
Omanyte goes for Water Gun, which deals some damage to Kabuto, but Kabuto goes for Sand Attack, trying to lower its accuracy.
"Let me show you Kabuto can learn this move, use Absorb!"
It goes for a Grass move, and it takes a lot of damage from Omanyte and Kabuto also recovers itself from the damage. Flora says, "Grass moves are good against both Omanyte and Kabuto, and only Kabuto can learn to Absorb compared to the two of them.
"Use Mud Shot!" "You use the same!" Both trainers yell and both fossil Pokemon are having a mud battle, in the end, Omanyte is slower and Kabuto lands the hit, knocking it out of the battle.
Seymour says, "Congratulations, Ash. You are really full of surprises when it comes to battle."
"No problem." Ash says, "It seems hard to me since you don't have a specific type to use."
"As the reward for defeating me, you earn this Moon Badge." Seymour takes the badge that is shaped like a Moon, and Ash takes it and puts it in the jacket.
Lillie says, "Congratulations, Ash. You already got your third badge."
"I know." Ash says. "The Moon badge under the full moon, there is nothing better than that."
"But that means it is getting dark and we will need to set up camp here." Brock says, and Ash nods. "I guess you're right, or perhaps we can have some rest if we get into the grounds of Rota as well."
"Rota? Do you mean the Rota Kingdom?" Misty asks. "I have heard of this place, it is a place that has a medieval theme, resembling historically preserved medieval cities in Kalos and Galar."
"You're right. And I'm sure that there are a lot of great inns that we can stay there." Insey says.
Brock and Misty are surprised when they get there as people recognize Ash and Insey as the relatives of the queen, and they even get them to the Cameron Palace by having the best Rapidash carrying their carriage.
"Ash? Insey? Is it true that you two are related to the Queen of this kingdom?" Misty asks in shock.
"We are, Queen Ilene is my mother's sister. And I'm sure that she will be glad to meet you." Ash says.
After greeting queen Ilene, she permits them to stay in the palace like Ash and the others. They also give them a feast because they haven't eaten anything from their arrival, and Ash also contacts his mother about their arrival at the Rota Kingdom.
After a day of rest, Ash and Lillie decide to train their Pokemon on the castle grounds, Riley is also there as he decides to help them train with his Lucario.
"Uncle Riley, sorry that I ask you to help us train our Pokemon. I mean, you have been busy with your work..." Ash says.
"It's fine, Ash." Riley says. "After all, we are a family, and I am sure that you will need some extra help if you want to face your mother in the future. What I can do for you is to help training your Pokemon."
Ash and Lillie nod as they continue training, Riley's Lucario is battling both Spearow and Zubat at the same time, trying to get them to evolve into their second stage. At the same time, Misty, Brock, Insey, and Flora are watching in the stands, and Brock says, "I have heard that the Ketchum Family is full of strong battlers, but this is the actual first time I see their harsh training methods..."
"Are you sure it will be fine?" Misty asks. "Lucario is a powerful Pokemon, and I don't think both Spearow and Zubat can go well against it."
Insey says, "I won't say that this is the harshest training that we ever have. There is even harsher than that."
Brock and Misty look at Insey with confusion, and Brock asks, "What do you mean?"
"We sometimes battle our Pokemon." Insey says, which causes them to get surprised. "Ketchums have aura powers that enable us to use Pokemon moves, so we can actually fight our Pokemon."
"Wait, is that true?" Misty asks, "I mean, won't you guys get hurt?"
"That is also one of the benefits of aura powers, we can heal ourselves immediately if we didn't get overboard." Insey says.
"I see..." Brock says, and they see how Spearow and Zubat are glowing white, and right in front of them is a Fearow and a Golbat.
Kanto Dex Entry No.22 Fearow: The Beak Pokemon: Normal and Flying Type. It evolves from Spearow starting at level 20. With its huge and magnificent wings, it can keep aloft without ever having to land for rest.
Kanto Dex Entry No.42 Golbat: The Bat Pokemon: Poison and Flying Type. It evolves from Zubat starting at level 22. Once it strikes, it will not stop draining energy from the victim even if it gets too heavy to fly.
"Thank you for your help, Uncle Riley. I mean, Fearow and Golbat are really cool." Lillie says.
"No problem, Ash and Lillie. So I want to ask where are you heading next for your gym challenge?" Riley asks.
"We are just thinking of heading east to Cerulean City." Ash says, and it causes Misty to freeze a little at the mention of her hometown.
"I see... that gym specializes in Water Type, so I suggest you capture some Grass Type Pokemon if you don't want to keep rely on your Pikachu for that."
"We will." Ash says.
After resting for a while, they bid farewell to Queen Ilene and Riley as they continue their path in Mt. Moon. But they are stopped by four Pokemon, a Sandshrew, a Clefairy, and two Paras. Each one of them walks towards Ash, Lillie, Insey, and Flora. Ash asks, "Can you tell me what is the meaning of this?"
Sandshrew says, "We saw you guys yesterday, you save our home from those bad guys."
Clefairy says, "So we want to join your team. If that's possible for you guys."
Lillie smiles and says, "Of course you can come with us! It will be great to have you guys with us."
Then they each take a Pokeball and capture them, and Misty says, "They are so lucky to have those Pokemon...I would like to have them as well."
"But none of them are Water Type, just so you know." Brock says.
After capturing the Pokemon, they decide to scan their Pokemon to learn their information.
Kanto Dex Entry No.27 Sandshrew: The Mouse Pokemon: Ground Type. Burrows deep underground in arid locations far from water. It only emerges to hunt for food.
Kanto Dex Entry No.35 Clefairy: The Fairy Pokemon: Fairy Type. Its magical and cute appeal has many admirers. It is rare and found only in certain areas.
"I always thought that Clefairy is a Normal Type Pokemon..." Misty says with confusion.
"Well, Fairy Types are discovered recently in Kalos by Professor Sycamore, originally they state that Clefairy is a Normal Type." Lillie says.
"Yeah, but it doesn't make sense since Fighting Types should have been super effective against them, but Clefairy doesn't seem to be taken much damage from it, and the fact that it also didn't get any damage from a Gyarados' Dragon Rage. That's why it is a Fairy Type." Ash says.
And they also spot a Moon Stone, and Ash asks, "How about we use this Moon Stone to evolve Clefairy into a Clefable?"
"Absolutely not! Clefairy is cute! And I am not going to let you be just like my mother!" Lillie yells at Ash, causing him to sigh.
"I guess so. Maybe one day there will be a time when Clefairy wants to become a Clefable." Ash sighs.
And they come across the sign, and they see that there is graffiti that says, "Gary is here, Ash is a loser."
Insey says, "Remember me to give a punch to that Oak Tree when we see him again."
Lillie says, "Count me in, how dare he say that."
Brock asks, "What's that all about? I mean, I did battle this Gary, he is the one with a lot of beautiful girls, right?"
Flora notices his perverted smile and sighs, "Yeah, he is always getting on our nerves. A lot of our friends don't like him, maybe except for my sister Eve."
"You guys go ahead, I have to do something." Ash says while he wasn't angry. Flora, Insey, and Lillie are confused, but laugh as they see Ash use Psychic to switch the two names.
"There, much better." He says.
"Ash is here, Gary is a loser nice one." Lillie giggles as they chase up with Brock and Misty.
The third chapter is finished. I have some important announcements to make. I won't be writing all episodes in the story, like the Samurai episode. Besides, I didn't watch Pokemon until Best wishes came out, so I can only guess the plot by looking at the other fanfictions or Bulbapedia. I hope you like it and the next will be Cerulean Gym.
