Chapter 11 Ambush in the Gym
Nora and Orion are ready at the battlefield, but as they are going to have their battle, a woman rushes into the room and the others are surprised.
Orion: (Confused) Harmony, what are you doing here? I'm in the middle of my work shift...I'm accepting challenges right now.
Harmony: (Worried) Orion, we need to get out of here! I saw Cultists entering the city, and they were talking about you! I don't know what they're planning but we need to get out while we still can!
Emily: (Everyone gasps at the mention of cultists) Cultists? Now?
Nora: (Annoyed) Great, and I was going to have a great battle...
Orion: Are you serious? You're right. (Turns to the others) Can you help me carry this? (Points at the rock) My friend is pretty heavy...
Harmony: (About to explode) Are you serious? We don't have time for this again! Cultists are coming, to attack you-or worse! That thing is just a rock! It's not real! Ditch the imaginary friend and let's get out of here! For crying out loud, this is why they shouldn't let kids be Gym Leaders!
?: Too late.
Ash and the others look in the direction of the voice, and they see a blue-haired man with two Scientists in front of the entrance, and behind them is Kyruem.
N: (Whispers) Kyurem? Here right now?
He has been informed about Kyurem being taken by one of the cults, but he doesn't see any sign of hypnosis or control devices on Kyurem, much to his surprise.
?: Ahh...my apologies for the loud landing. Legendary Pokemon are hard to control, you know.
Lillie: (Gasps) You controlled...Kyruem?
Taen: Oh, so you do know this beautiful creature's name is Kyruem. It is a very powerful Pokemon- its breath is said to be so cold it can freeze flames and electricity solid. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Taen, I work for the cult known as Perfection.
Harmony flinches at the mention of the name, as she is sure she has heard the name from somewhere.
Taen: We are not quite as...aggressive as the rest of the cults- we kind of does our own thing. But that doesn't mean you should take us lightly. We still have our goals and we'll stop at nothing to achieve them. (Looks at Orion and the White Rock) This brings us to why we're here.
Orion: (Notices that he is looking at the white rock) No way, I'm going to protect the stone. You're not going to take my friend away! (Stands in front of the rock)
Taen: (Laugh) You? Are friends with the rock? Do you talk to it, too? Are you guys best friends forever? That is sooooo cute!
Nora: Listen... Taen, is it? You're not acting friendly here. Tell us what you want and leave.
Taen: Tell you what we want? Well, you know what? (Steps in front of Orion) We want the kid's rock!
Orion: (Gasps) What? No way! I'd die first.
Taen: It's been fun messing with you, kid, but now it's time for the adults to talk. Get out of the way.
Ash: (Whispers to Lillie) Seriously? He is only the same age as us...
Lillie: But if you think about it, Orion is younger than us, which means he is the kid of all of us...
Orion: Not a chance, leave us alone!
Taen: (Slaps Orion to the ground, causing him to groan in pain) Insolent child!
Harmony: (Rushes to Taen) Did you just slap him? What's wrong with you? That's absolutely dis-
N: You are not going to hurt my pupil. Hear my words and wake up now!
Just then, the rock starts to glow, and they can hear a roar from it.
Harmony: (A little shocked) What is that?
Taen: (Smirks) That, my dear girl, is the reason we wanted the rock. Just because I mocked Orion doesn't mean I don't know what it truly is.
Fire starts to emit from the white rock, and it starts to take the form of the dragon. Ash knows what the dragon is considering N is the one that summons it.
Harmony: What...what is that?
Taen: That is Reshiram...the being of truth. Many years ago, Reshiram, my Kyruem, and a third Pokemon - Zekrom - used to all be pieces of the same Pokemon. However, fighting and war eventually split the tree apart. Reshiram was sealed in the rock known as the White Stone, which seems to have had fallen in Orion's care.
N: That is because I let him.
Taen: (Finally recognizes N) Well if it isn't N, long time no see.
Ash: (Looks at N and then Taen with surprise) You know him? N?
N: I do, he is the Chosen of Kyruem. He was a member of the Timeless until he betrayed us, he joined the Perfection Cult.
Taen: (Mocking) And it is the best choice I could have at that time. Is this a way to treat an old friend?
Nora: (Angry) How could someone like you be chosen by a Legendary? You are a traitor!
N: Calm down, Nora. We will stop him once and for all. Reshiram!
Reshiram nods as N jumps onto it, as the both of them are flying out of the gym.
Taen: It seems like Reshiram has fled. Very well, at least we managed to awaken it from the stone! And now, we chase. Let's get going, Kyurem. We have a dragon to catch!
After that, Taen and the rest of Perfection Cult leave along with Kyurem, much to everyone's disbelief.
Harmony: (Turns to Orion) Orion... I am sorry. I didn't believe you, but you were completely right. And now your friend is battling Kyruem...
Orion: It is fine, by the way, let me introduce you to my new friends.
After Ash and his friends introduce themselves, Harmony also decides to introduce herself as well.
Harmony: My name is Harmony. I'm the Gym Leader of Sonata City.
Emily: You are a Gym Leader as well?
Harmony: Yeah, I specialize in Normal and Fairy- types. I am sorry for interrupting your gym challenge, but can I trust all of you to keep what happened today a secret? We could be in danger if this news gets out.
Nora: Oh trust me, my brother, my friends and I have a few of our own secrets to keep.
Ash: But when that Perfection Cult member said his name, you flinched a little, is there something wrong?
Harmony: (Sighs) That member has the same name as my dead son. But it is just a coincidence. I believe you guys to keep a secret. You should stop by Sonata City sometime, you can challeng-
Just then, they hear a roar and both N and Reshiram are back.
Orion: (Hugs Reshiram) You came back! Oh, thank you! It's so good to see you again!
Ash: N, where is Taen?
N: (Frowns) He retreated after a Blue Flare. (Turns to Orion) Orion, I trust you to take care of him, right?
Orion: You bet I will, Reshiram is my best friend.
Harmony: Orion, be careful, none of the challengers coming into the gym can see Reshiram: you'll never know who might spill the beans to the freaky blue-haired guy.
Orion: (Nods) I'll be careful, Harmony, I swear. Thanks for stopping by to help out.
Harmony: No problem, I need to get going. And I'm sorry for not believing you.
After Harmony bids farewell to them, Nora finally gets her time to challenge the Gym. After defeating Orion and getting the badge, it is time that they leave.
Ash: So N, are you sure you are going to let Orion keep Reshiram?
N: I am sure, since I am going to retire and there are no other choices. But what I want to know is what happened to Taen...
Lillie: You said that Taen was a part of Timeless? But he betrayed us? How is that possible?
N: I don't know. He isn't the Taen I used to know...He is much more sinister...I need to report this back to the Timeless, so I'll see you soon.
After Ash and his travel companions leave the Suntouched City to the Suntouched Exitway, N also heads back to the Timeless hideout located in the base of the Crystal Caves of the Amphitrite City. There, Red is the one that is waiting for him as N nods at him.
Red: So N, how is my counterpart of this world? We got the call that you found him in the Suntouched City.
N: (Smile) He is doing a good job defeating my student and successor Orion and gets the first badge. But then, Taen and Kyurem appear there and he is coming for Reshiram.
Red: (Raises an eyebrow) Taen? As in the traitor Taen? What is he doing there?
N: (Sighs) Ever since he betrayed us and joined the Perfection Cult, he has been finding me and Damon for the two dragons. He must have located Reshiram in Orion's Gym.
Red: I see. But you and Damon are going to retire and the dragons are going to be Orion and Carlita's. Then again, if he doesn't know about it, then it won't be a problem.
N: I suppose. Just why Taen would betray us? He was Delia's student and why is he doing this?
Red: We have no idea, but I have a feeling that all of the questions will be answered very soon. If my other self, Ash Ketchum, is destined to defeat all the cults, then it may be a chance that they will face off against each other.
N: And what should we do when it all happened?
Red: I don't know. N, right now you should take a rest, and you can tell the others about Ash's situation.
After N leaves the room, a person walks into the room and he is no other than Taen. But something is different, as he doesn't look sinister like the one Ash met.
Taen: I have heard everything...are you sure it is a good idea?
Red: First of all, your father is the leader of the Perfection Cult, and it will be dangerous to send you back to him if you were completed. That's why Delia has split you into light and dark, with the dark side siding with Kyurem and the light side staying with us. And second, the Elite 4 of this region are also cultists and you are the only one we can turn to gather information about them.
Taen: I guess so...it's just...I really don't like doing something horrible like my dark side did...
Red sighs, just like Ash and himself, Taen has a counterpart that is from the original world, even though he looks sinister than others, he is still on the Timeless' side. Kyurem volunteers to help the dark one out, as it is also Arceus' prediction. And right now the Dark Taen has met Ash and the others, let's say that the light one can continue to be hidden until he fulfilled his destiny.
Here is a new chapter, and in this chapter, I decided to have a good Taen and an evil Taen in this story. The evil one will be acting the same as the game, but with slight changes, and the good one, let's say I have some things to do with him. I hope you like this chapter.
