Chapter 3 Dark Pokemon
Ash and Lillie throw their Pokeballs and they send out Sirfetch'd and Hattena. Both of them are a little shocked at the Dark Energy in front of them.
Ash: Sirfetch'd, don't worry. We can handle this together.
Lillie: Same here, Hattena. We have to free this Pokemon from the Dark Energy.
Both Pokemon nod as they battle the Haxorus. Haxorus goes for Dragon Claw, and the two Pokemon manage to dodge the attack before it contacts.
Ash: Sirfetch'd! Use Brick Break!
Sirfetch'd uses its leek to slash at the Pokemon, causing it to take some damage, Lillie also asks Hattena to use Disarming Voice, which is super effective. Just then, the Dark Energy starts to surround Haxorus and forms a shield.
Lillie: So that's the shield that prevents us to attack...
And it roars as a Bidoof rushes to its side, the Bidoof is also being controlled by the dark energy, and Ash realizes something.
Ash: I see...it is just like the SOS Battles from Alola. If we defeat the Pokemon that comes to his aid, we might be able to attack again.
Lillie: Good idea, let's try to defeat that Bidoof.
They start to attack the Bidoof, and Sirfetch'd is using its super effective move: Brick Break, to defeat Bidoof. But during the process, Haxorus is using Slash to attack them, and they can't do anything to stop Haxorus because of the shield. After Bidoof is defeated, the potion reacts to the Dark energy and then it breaks.
Ash: Looks like now it's our chance.
They try to attack Haxorus, but they are surprised that it uses an Oran Berry to heal itself, and when its HP goes to half, the Dark energy returns and does the same thing once again.
Lillie: That's the second time...this is going to be bad...
And it roars to summon a Fraxure to help out, Ash knows how strong Fraxure is and he tells Sirfetch'd to be careful. But thankfully that Fraxure's Iron Tail are dodged so that Sirfetch'd still lands the hit. But Haxorus uses Dragon Dance to boost its speed and attack, defeating both Pokemon with Dragon Claw.
Lillie: I'm sorry, Hatenna...you did a good job...
Ash: We still have Pokemon, so we are not giving up.
Then they go with Pikachu and Snowy. Both Pokemon are using Iron Tail and Icy Wind, which deals a lot of damage to Haxorus, but the Dark energy comes back for the third time after the health goes to a quarter, and this time it calls out a Bibarel.
Lillie: So it seems the Dark Energy will do that to the Pokemon it possesses for every quarter of health...if my theory is right, then after defeating this Bibarel, we can deliver the final blow.
Ash: You're right about that. Let's do it.
Ash has Pikachu use Thunderbolt, which is super effective against Bibarel. Snowy also goes with Aurora Veil, trying to protect themselves. The Bibarel is using Protect and the Moody ability to change its stats and protect itself from moves, but it is defeated when Pikachu lands the Electro Web.
Ash: Lillie! Let's finish it.
Lillie: Right!
They both yell to use Thunderbolt and Ice Beam, the attack combines into one and lands at Haxorus, Haxorus roars in pain until it falls to the ground fainted, and the Dark energy is also leaving the Pokemon's body with the help of the Wizard's potion. At the same time, the Dragonslayer also rushes to them.
Dragonslayer: Our prince, I will help you to defeat the...(Notices the fallen Haxorus) Oh. You've already quelled the rage of the beast? And the dark energy has gone! I must send my apologies. It appears that I am a little too late. This means you managed to battle the Haxorus all by yourself.
Ash: Don't blame yourself for your lateness. That was a hard battle, but we are glad that we manage to stop the Dark Energy.
Dragonslayer: (Bows) Congratulations are in order! But I have been saving people from Dragon-types for years, and I have never seen such a dark spirit. The question that remains is why such evil was there in the first place?

Ash: Who are you? What do you mean your plan?
Dragonslayer: That's the Necromancer!
Necromancer: Yes! And I had planned on using this Haxorus to terrorize the people of Sage City to give me trinkets and money and so on.
Ash and Lillie are in rage as the man in front of them is the culprit of Haxorus' pain, they are also prepared to fight the man if necessary.
Dragonslayer: I should have known that you were behind such nefarious plans!
Necromancer: (Laughs) Indeed! And I will do it again as well!
Ash: You are not going to do that again if we stop you!
Necromancer: (Curious at the person in front of him) You seem to be confident, what's your name?
Dragonslayer: Don't tell him your name, Prince Ash and Lillie...(Realizes what he has done) Oh...
Lillie: Never mind that, Dragonslayer. We are not going to hide after all.
Necromancer: Thank you! Ash and Lillie! (Throws a piece of paper) I challenge you to a duel!
Ash+Lillie: (Confused) A duel?
Necromancer: Yes! A duel! On my terms! In the deepest part of Toadstool Woods! Be there or I will possess another powerful Haxorus!
Just then, he throws a Smokebomb, and then he disappears. Ash picks up the piece of paper and he realizes that it is a duel gauntlet with his mother's signature on it.
Dragonslayer: What a nasty piece of work! But, Prince Ash and Lillie! You took care of that Haxorus! I think we are already witnessing the growth of true heroes! Go to Toadstool Woods. It's north of the Peasant Village. Defeat the Necromancer, and I will take him away for good!
After the Dragonslayer leaves, Ash is looking at the letter.
Ash: This is my mother's signature...why is she letting that Necromancer do this?
Lillie: I have a bad feeling...what if the Dark energy is controlling your mother, thus making her do such a thing to stop us?
Ash: If that's the case, then I am going to save her no matter what.
Lillie: I am with you. The Necromancer said that he is in Toadstool Woods, right? Let's go there.
After walking to the Toadstool Forest, they find some Pokemon like Vulpix, Cleffa, Drowzee, Morelull, Lotad, and Seedot there. Snowy is being friends with the Fire Type Vulpix in the area, and they manage to show them the way to the Necromancer, who is waiting in the deep part of the forest.
Necromancer: So, you have finally decided to show your face! And you have not brought any of your shiny friends along with you!
Ash: Enough of that. (Shows the gauntlet paper) What did you do to my mother?
Necromancer: (Shrugs) Who knows about that? All I know is that your little Dragonslayer friend is so pathetic, not even willing to face me.
Lillie: You are not going to be cocky after we defeat you.
Necromancer: Very well. You stand no chance. I will be your demise!
The Necromancer sends out an Ekans and a Misdreavus, Ash goes for Rookidee and Lillie goes for Fennekin. When Ekans goes for Night Slash, Ash feels a little weird from the Pokemon.
Ash: Don't tell me...(Rookidee pecks at the Ekans, revealing to be a Zorua in disguise) I know it...
Necromancer: So you have seen through its disguise. No matter, Zorua, use U-turn!
Zorua uses the move to be sent back, and then he goes for the real Ekans, who uses Poison Sting to poison Fennekin. But Fennekin manages to land a Psybeam, defeating Ekans, and Rookidee also uses Power Trip to defeat Misdreavus.
Necromancer: Don't you think this is over. (Sends out Zorua and Hypno) Use Hypnosis!
Ash groans as Rookidee falls asleep, but Fennekin has the poison status, so it doesn't fall asleep, but it faints after Hypno uses Confusion on it. Lillie goes for Nidoran next, and it goes for Fury Cutter on Zorua.
Ash recalls Rookidee and goes for Rowlet, but the attack from Hypno causes the Everstone to fall, and Rowlet evolves into a Dartrix, much to the Pokemon's surprise. Even though it becomes a Dartrix, it still manages to get the stone back into the mouth, but he is surprised at his new size.
Ash: Okay, Dartrix...you have evolved, then let's try Pluck!
Dartrix attacks Hypno and manages to steal the Sitrus Berry, after eating it to recover its health, Nidoran finishes it with Poison Sting. As for Zorua, it is beating by Dartrix's Razor Leaf.
Necromancer: (Looks at the fallen Pokemon) What is this? (Recalls his Pokemon) I underestimated you, Prince Ash and Adventurer Lillie. Your victory against the Haxorus was no fluke.
Ash: Enough of it, tell me what do you do to my mother?
Necromancer: As I said, who knows what happened to her? All I know is that she gave me this. Take this.
He throws a key with the Necromancer symbol on it, Ash accepts the key, but then they see the Necromancer laughing.
Necromancer: But your victory against me was in vain. I will of course continue to...
Just then, the Dragonslayer comes with a group of ninjas, and they are surrounding them.
Dragonslayer: Pathetic? I was watching the whole time!
Necromancer: (Surprised to see Dragonslayer and his group) You were?
Dragonslayer: Yes, and now you are going to come along-a me! Guys!
Just then, Ash and Lillie watch as Necromancer is being tied up and he is dragged away, they can also see that he is struggling from the binds.
Necromancer: (Yells) This is not the last that you'll hear of me!
Dragonslayer: (Watching him leave with the other ninjas) Is that the best line you've got? Can't come up with anything more original? (Turns to Ash and Lillie) Well, I'll take him to where he should belong, let's meet each other when we have the chance.
Ash and Lillie nod as they watch the person leave, and after that, the Grand Wizard comes to them.
Grand Wizard: I wish it could be this day every day! Your excellent battling spirit is commendable. You two have the characteristics of a true hero! Good has been restored to this part of the Kingdom! Well...
Ash: Grand Wizard, the Necromancer gave me this key, is this key related to how I can save my mother?
Grand Wizard: (Smiles) Very clever indeed. However, there seems to be more than one key that is scattered in this Kingdom. There are rumors that a coven of witches is causing chaos with another rampant Pokemon. The Pokemon is said to be in Mangrove Swamp. And once again, there is some dark energy involved. The kingdom depends on people like you to stand up for what is right, so make your way over once you are ready.
Ash and Lillie nod, knowing what their quest in the Fantasy Kingdom is about: To collect the keys and save the kingdom, including Ash's mother, the Queen.
Here is the third chapter, and this might be considered as the first gym battle. The keys are actually the badges in the game and there are a total of 14 of them. And the first enemy in the game, the Necromancer, is defeated, and they are now heading to fight the witches. I hope you like this chapter.
