Chapter 2: Beginner Basics
"Pikachu, you have to calm down!" Ash says as she hugs Pikachu as he is being stroked with Electricity from Zekrom, while Professor Oak and Professor Juniper attempt to restore power to the lab's electronics.
After a short while, the blue lightning and the black clouds disperse and the sky is calm once again. Delia rushes to Ash and asks, "Are you okay, Ash?"
"I'm fine." Ash says. "What about Pikachu?"
Cheren says, "I think your Pikachu is fine." He points at the mouse Pokemon that is lying on the floor with the cheeks sparking.
Oshawott is also there and Ash pets his head, "Don't worry, Oshawott. I'm fine."
The Electric Mouse Pokémon gets up, smiles, and then charges his tail with electricity, showing Ash he has recovered.
"Pikachu! You have recovered!" Ash says, "Try use Thunderbolt on me."
Pikachu nods as she fires the attack, causing Ash to be shocked, Cheren mutters, "That sure is an odd way to test the Electric attacks."
"But at least Pikachu is back to normal..." Ash says as she collapses due to exhaustion.
Later, Cheren is looking at his watch, and he says, "What is taking Bianca so long? I'll bet she's spacing out like she usually does. She's totally flighty."
"Do you want to go look for her?" Ash asks with concern, and Cheren says, "We might as well."
After going to Bianca's house, which is not too far from here, they see that Bianca is arguing with what seems to be her father. "No, no, thousand times no!"
"But, I'm... I'm a good Trainer who got a Pokémon and everything! I can totally go on an adventure!" Bianca argues.
Then she spots Ash and Cheren, she says, "Oh... It's OK. ...It's fine! I'll be waiting for you in front of the lab, OK?"
After she leaves, they hear her father mutters, "What nonsense is this? How could my daughter, who knows nothing about the world, be going on a journey with a Pokemon?"
And Bianca's mother says, "Don't worry about him. All children go on adventures with Pokemon. It's part of growing up."
"You're right about that." Ash says as they get back to the lab.
Once they get there, they get back to the lab. "Hi there! I've been waiting for you young people! Let me introduce myself again. My name is…"
"Professor Juniper? We know your name." Cheren says.
"Come, come, Cheren! This is not a time to take things lightly. Today is a day to remember always, so it's best to behave with some formality. That being so, once again, my name is Professor Juniper, and I am researching when and how the creatures called Pokémon came into existence."
"Well, I am sure they know a lot." Ash says, "They also had a Pokemon battle with me a few hours ago."
"Oh, that's unusual! You've already had a Pokémon battle! So maybe that's why… It feels as though your Pokémon have already begun to trust you! By the way, would you like to give your Pokémon a nickname?" Professor Juniper asks Cheren and Bianca, and they nod.
"As for why I gave all of you Pokémon…" Professor Juniper says, but Cheren interrupts, "It's for the Pokédex, right?"
"Pokedex?" Bianca is confused.
"I am astonished. Nice work, Cheren! You have already studied Pokémon extensively, haven't you? Still, let me explain everything from the beginning, for everyone's sake. The Pokédex is a high-tech device that automatically records the Pokémon you encounter! So, I want you three to visit many places and meet all of the Pokémon in the Unova region! This is my request. Ash! Cheren! Bianca! You'll go on an adventure to complete the Pokédex, will you not?"
"Even me? Well, I don't mind doing it at all." Ash says, and the two also nod.
"Okay." Bianca says.
"I mean...Yes, Professor." Cheren adds. "Thank you very much. Because of you, I can become a Pokémon Trainer, exactly as I always wished."
"All of you, thanks! You have given me the best possible answer!" Juniper says with a smile.
Then they all receive a Pokedex. Professor Juniper says, "Next, I need to teach you how to meet Pokémon. Please meet me at Route 1 tomorrow, OK?"
As they nod, Bianca says, "S-since the professor asked us, it's OK to go on an adventure, right? I can explore and maybe find out what I want to do in life. I think I'd like that."
"Of course. We can travel however we want while we complete the Pokédex." Cheren adds.
After the two of them leave their home, Ash also tells Delia and Professor Oak about traveling around Unova.
"You don't need to worry about it, I will take good care of your other Pokemon while you are away." Professor Oak says.
Delia adds, "Pikachu, look after my baby girl, will you?" Pikachu nods in agreement, Ash blushes and says, "Mom...I am not a little girl anymore."
Professor Oak adds, "And by the way, as a researcher, I will like you to occasionally report to me about new Pokémon and discoveries."
"I will." Ash adds.
The next day, Ash is now prepared to leave for his journey. She has to hear her mother's naggings about what to do and what not to do, then they follow Professor Juniper to Route 1, where Cheren and Bianca are waiting for them.
"Bianca says if we're starting a journey, she wants us all to take our first step at the same time." Cheren says with a little annoyance.
"Well, this is not my first time." Ash says, "But there is nothing wrong to do this."
Professor Juniper says, "Now that everyone's here, I'll explain. The Pokédex's pages update automatically whenever you meet a Pokémon! Moreover, it's set up so that you obtain even more information when you catch a Pokémon! To make this clear, I'm going to demonstrate how to catch a Pokémon!"
She notices a Patrat and she sends out Minccino. Ash says, "I have never seen those Pokemon before."
"That is a Minccino, and that is Patrat, both of them are Normal Type Pokemon." Cheren says.
After watching how Professor Juniper having the Pokemon defeated and captured, she says, "Did you see that, just now? Here's how it goes, step by step. First, reduce Pokémon's HP! Pokémon that still have all of their energy is difficult to catch. If you can, use your Pokémon's moves to make the Pokémon you want to catch fall asleep. Or paralyze it! And to wrap this up in the best way, I have a gift for you- some Poké Balls!"
She gives them 5 Pokeballs, and they put them into their backpack. Juniper says, "Poké Balls are used for catching Pokémon and for carrying the Pokémon you catch! I'm going on ahead. I'll be waiting for you in Accumula Town!"
After that, she leaves the three alone, and Cheren says, "She forgot to say Pokémon jump out at you in the tall grass. I'm heading to Accumula Town, too."
"I think I'll go, too. I'm looking forward to the next town so I can go shopping for Poké Balls!" Bianca says, but then she suddenly screams, "Wait a minute! Hey, listen! Ash, Cheren, I thought of something fun!"
"But we need to get going! I'd imagine the Professor's waiting too." Cheren says with a little annoyance.
"Would you just listen a sec? Seriously! Why don't we see who can catch the most Pokémon? The person carrying the most Pokémon, including the one received from Professor Juniper, is the winner!" Bianca suggests.
"Huh. Actually, that sounds interesting. It will fill up Pokédex pages, so I'm sure it will please the Professor too. OK, then." Cheren says as he bids farewell to Ash.
"Tepig and I will do the best for sure!" Bianca adds as she also bids farewell to Ash.
Ash just smiles at the two of them, he says, "Well, it reminds me of the old days of my journey...if Gary is only like Cheren..."
Ash and Pikachu are walking on the road, with Oshawott popping out from his Pokeball. Ash says, "Did you just come out of the Pokeball on your own?"
"Of course I do." Oshawott says. "Sometimes it is boring in there."
"I don't like Pokeballs." Pikachu adds. "That's why I don't want to go inside."
Ash says, "I know, you have told me on the first day of my journey, and you didn't get inside ever since."
"How long have you two go on a journey?" Oshawott asks.
"Well, to answer your question, Oshawott, Pikachu, and I have gone to 4 regions already." Ash says.
Oshawott then realizes something, and he asks, "Wait, you are just a human, you can understand what we are saying?"
"I can understand what you are saying, Oshawott. It is something that Zekrom gives me a few days ago. I don't know why though."
"That's so awesome." Oshawott says.
On the route, Ash finds a Patrat and a Lillipup on the road, Ash says, "Well...Patrat evolves into Watchog, it might be a good bodyguard, but I don't think I want to use it...as for Lillipup, it is cute, and it can evolve into Herdier and eventually Stoutland, which is good for sniffing for stuff. Though I don't want to capture Pokemon unless I want to, that way I won't be tiring myself and the Professor by having a lot of Pokemon."
Pikachu and Oshawott nod in agreement, and they just continue their journey through the Route 1.
Once they walk to the end of Route 1, they find Cheren and Bianca again. Cheren asks, "Ash, are you going to compare yourself with Bianca? Both Bianca and I have two Pokémon with us."
"Well, sure." Ash says as he walks towards Bianca, who asks, "How about it, Ash? Do you want to compare which one of us has the most Pokémon with them?"
"Of course." Ash says, "I have two Pokemon with me."
"Wow, 2?! That's awesome! Are you excited to have that many Pokémon with you?" Bianca asks.
"Incidentally, if you check your Pokédex, you'll see how many Pokémon you've found and how many you've caught. I'm off to Accumula Town! The Professor is waiting." Cheren says.
Just then, their Xtransceivers are ringing, and they answer the call, "Hello! How is everybody doing? You and your Pokémon are getting along great now, right?"
"Oh! Professor!" Bianca says.
"Right now, I'm in front of Accumula Town's Pokémon Center! I'd like to show you around, so hurry on over, everyone!" Juniper says.
"OK! The Pokémon Center, right!" Bianca adds.
Professor Juniper says, "OK! See you!"
After ending the call, Cheren says, "Well I'm going on ahead."
After seeing the two leave, Ash says, "Well, we shouldn't keep the Professor waiting as well. Though she might be going to teach them how the Pokemon Center works, something that I really don't need to bother, but still, it will be great to hear it once again."
Then she runs to the town with Pikachu and Oshawott chasing after her.
Here is a new chapter, and in this story, Ash will be capturing Unova Pokemon, but not all of them are going to be the same as the anime. I hope you like this chapter, and in the next chapter, we will be meeting N in Accumula Town, what will Ash do if she encounters him? And what kind of Pokemon will Ash capture in the next chapters?
