A/N #3: Loved reading the feedback for the last chapter so I'll start my thank yous for that. TORONTOSUN (Very pleased to read you like the family moments that were in the last chapter!) and
Mb (I was happy to see you thought them doing the dress rehearsal was great to read since I was hoping for that reaction! And so pleased that you were happy at the news about Isaac and Genevieve being engaged now. No surprise seeing your reaction to Freddie jumping Skye's body, or that you were glad he left kind quickly but regretting he lost control and did that in the end. Lol, I had to laugh at you talking about them going to an amusement park in NY in November, but that's my fault. I'm not from the same climate obviously, lol, so by the time I realized where I had them and what time of year it was it was too late. But I was glad to see you thought the first half of the chapter was nicely done. And you're welcome for sharing that half too! And it was great you were happy about the new baby for Isaac, Genevieve, Peter and Clive, lol, wasn't sure if readers might think it was too much at once, but I'm sure it happens. Not surprised you mentioned Beckett getting the picture of Freddie leaving Skye's body, since it's a heck of a shot to get for proof of that. I also wasn't surprised you laughed at the guys nearly going to give Isaac the shovel talk, but I thought that advice and congrats were better in the end, lol. So pleased you thought the whole chapter was great setting up for the concert. And you're welcome for sharing the second half of the chapter!).
Thanks for the reviews, I enjoyed reading them all and appreciate the time taken to write them out and send them my way!
A/N #4: The title of this chapter is a lyric from the song Don't Stop Me Now, the information for that song in the A/N above.
Having A Good Time
Photographing everyone all together, Beckett smiled and said, "Thank you guys, that was great."
"And thank you for the pictures," Brian said.
"Also the video," Roger added. "And your daughter… and signing books and-" he started to say before the others were playfully groaning and telling him to be quiet.
"I don't think I could really stop her," Beckett said with a smile while Julia was walking over to her. "Do I need to go?" she then said.
Seeing one of the workers there nodding, Julia turned to her mother and hugged her as tightly as she could. "I hope you have a great time watching Mom."
"I will sweetie," Beckett replied. She let her go so she could cup her face in her hands gently before saying, "Break a leg."
"Thanks Mom," Julia said.
"The same for you Peter," Beckett said when the boy was coming over to them.
"Thank you," he replied, smiling.
"I'll see you after Mom," Julia said as her mother pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "Have fun!"
"You too," Beckett said with a smile before she was heading out to the arena with a worker. Once she was back with Castle and their family and friends, she told him, "The pictures are set. And she's as ready as she can be." She went over to Genevieve saying, "Peter's doing okay."
"I hope so, I left him okay," the woman said with a smile.
"How long until we see her?" Castle asked.
"Too long," Beckett said, not surprised seeing her father and his mother nodding in agreement.
"How do I look?" Peter was asking his partner backstage.
"Good," Julia said, laughing when he took an Elvis type stance. "But I don't know if Elvis was a greaser," she added.
"Hey," Derek said, walking up to the two. "They're about to start, ready to check it out?"
"I am," Julia said eagerly before they were walking together until they were side stage. She smiled hearing the introduction to the concert and the applause from the audience before the stage went dark and the opening of the song Bohemian Rhapsody began with Adam singing with Skye, Mary and Jackie. She was jumping up and down in joy at the performance, wishing she could see her family and friends in the audience.
Watching Eliza jumping up and down, Castle said into his wife's ear, "At least she's enjoying it."
"How could you not?" Beckett asked with a smile since she was dancing to the song as well. When it was over, she was cheering with everyone else, looking at the McDouglas family and not surprised they were crying out to their mothers before Rami was stepping up to the mic that came up on the stage.
"When's Jules?" Eliza whispered to her mother.
"After the next song," Beckett said, relieved she'd waited for the actor to finish his speech before she spoke. That was all she could say, as Skye was beginning It's a Hard Life, but she was amused when the investigator was walking down the steps like she'd done in rehearsal, singing to a few audience members before ending the song on stage. Brian and Roger were announcing the next song and as they introduced the hologram and dance, she glanced behind when there was some applause at Derek's name.
"Hopefully they remember Julia and Peter," Castle had a chance to say. He looked at her as she was squeezing his hand before he bent his head to her murmuring.
"I think some of them do," Beckett managed to say before the music began. She turned her attention to the screen, taking a picture of the stage with the hologram of Freddie before Julia was walking onto the stage and dancing next to it for a moment as the hologram sang the first lyric.
This thing called love, I just can't handle it
This thing called love, I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Crazy little thing called love
Derek and Peter were dancing on to the stage from either side at the first two lyrics and they started dancing with Julia and the hologram. At the second to last lyric, Julia pretended to be spun by Freddie before she did the splits while Derek held her hand.
This thing (this thing)
Called love (called love)
It cries (like a baby)
In a cradle all night
It swings (woo woo)
It jives (woo woo)
It shakes all over like a jelly fish
I kinda like it
Crazy little thing called love
Julia, helped back up by Derek, started walking in front of the three before she fell back into Peter's arms, and he swung her and threw her into Derek's arms at the end before they spun. She playfully pushed at the dancer before he pretended to stagger back into Peter and the boy into the hologram, Freddie posing with the guitar chords.
There goes my baby
She knows how the rock 'n' roll
She drives me crazy
She gives me hot and cold fever
Then she leaves me in a cool, cool sweat
As Julia was strolling in front of the three, she could see them turning around before she turned herself to Peter, beginning to Jive with him a bit before she was spun around to Derek, doing steps with him. When she spun around to the hologram it was the last lyric of the verse and she put her hands on her hips while Freddie was turning to her.
I gotta be cool, relax, get hip
And get on my tracks
Take a backseat, hitchhike
And take a long ride on my motorbike
Until I'm ready
Crazy little thing called love
You're doing wonderful, Freddie suddenly said to Julia mentally.
'Are you changing the hologram?' Julia managed to ask. She wasn't surprised when there was no response, and she was recovering the best she could to spin. She was startled by a hand holding hers but did her best not to let it show before she was clapping with Peter and Derek at the start of the next verse. She then turned to Peter before she did the sliding splits, jumping up and standing straight with him and Derek before they were nodding to the hologram on the 'ready Freddie' line, and she spun into Derek's arms before they were doing Jive steps side by side with Freddie the rest of the song.
I gotta be cool, relax, get hip
And get on my tracks
Take a backseat (ah hum), hitchhike (ah hum)
And take a long ride on my motorbike
Until I'm ready (ready Freddie)
Crazy little thing called love
This thing called love, I just can't handle it
This thing called love, I must get round to it
I ain't ready
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
As the song ended with the lyric Crazy little thing called love repeatedly sung, Beckett was cheering until it was over, hoping Julia could hear them. But she wasn't sure as her daughter was bowing with the other three and the stage went dark. "I wish I could go to her," she murmured to her husband.
"Me too," Castle said, hugging her with one arm.
"The video's next!" Eliza heard Fleur whispering excitedly. She turned to her mother and asked, "Is it yours?"
"No," Beckett said quickly. "The one that Skye and Mary did with… them," she began to say before trailing off as Ru Paul, Billy Porter and Laverne Cox were walking to the microphone. She took a picture while they were introducing the music video for I Want to Break Free and turned her attention to the large screen that had been lowered behind the three since she was interested in seeing what Skye had decided on doing for it.
At the instrumental, Skye was shown 'dressing' for a beauty pageant before she tore off the sash at the beginning of the drums. She stormed out of the backstage area where she was and was walking outside down the sidewalk into LA before she reached two doors of a warehouse and pushed them wide open before there was a burst of fog.
When it cleared, it was on Ru Paul, dressed in drag and mouthing the words of the first lyric Skye had sung while makeup artists and someone trying to hand her a suit were surrounding her. She brushed them away in the middle before she strode to where the investigator was standing, lip syncing the last lyric as she led Skye out of the shot.
I want to break free
I want to break free
I want to break free from your lies
You're so self-satisfied I don't need you
I've got to break free
God knows, God knows I want to break free
Billy Porter walked into the shot next, lip syncing to the next verse while he was fixing the skirt of the deep blue tuxedo dress he had on. When the man with the suit tried to hand it to him in the middle of the verse, he was waving him away before he grabbed Skye at the end, the investigator dressed in the outfit she was wearing for the concert. He lip synced the last lyric with her, walking over to where other models were sitting getting makeup.
I've fallen in love
I've fallen in love for the first time
And this time I know it's for real
I've fallen in love yeah
God knows, God knows I've fallen in love
At the beginning of the verse, Laverne Cox was lip syncing to Skye when Mary was walking behind them. She reached out and stopped the investigator from turning in her chair at the middle, sweeping her from it and lining up before they were walking down a runway, the instrumental of the song and Freddie's performance with the dancers from the original video playing behind them before it went to the runway again.
It's strange but it's true
I can't get over the way you love me like you do
But I have to be sure
When I walk out that door
Oh, how I want to be free baby
Oh, how I want to be free
Oh, how I want to break free
As Skye was lip syncing the next verse she was standing at the end of the runway, posing but soon closed her eyes tightly. At the fourth verse the other three stood behind her, lip syncing so they would appear to be singing the lyric with her while Skye leaned back into them as they held her. While she sang the rest of the verse, the three were moving away from her and Mary walked up to her before they smiled at one another. The camera angle changed to them walking back down the runway with their arms around each other, lip syncing together until the video faded to black with the other models walking backstage behind them though no one was lip syncing at that point until the music stopped.
But life still goes on
I can't get used to living without living without
Living without you by my side
I don't want to live alone hey
God knows, got to make it on my own
So baby can't you see
I've got to break free
I've got to break free
I want to break free yeah
I want I want I want I want to break free…
With the next speaker coming up to the mic then, Castle waited for his wife to take a picture of Elton John before he was about to speak to her. But she was stopping him by placing her hand on his chest to his slight surprise, though he recovered quickly and leaned down so she could murmur into his ear.
"When are the flowers going to be delivered?" Beckett asked him, since she and her husband had decided to send two bouquets of flowers as congratulation from the two of them and then from her sisters, Louis and grandparents.
"They should be there right now," Castle replied before he watched her taking pictures of John Legend and the O'Dells as they were beginning Love of My Life.
Once she had finished, Beckett glanced at her husband when he was wrapping his arm around her waist. She smiled at him and leaned against him, watching the performance though she hoped Julia was alright backstage.
Opening the door to her dressing room after promising the worker she would hurry to be ready for the next dance, Julia paused when she looked at the makeup table. She smiled and hurried inside, closing the door before she took the card that was in the bouquet on the left and read out loud, "We loved seeing you tonight, keep having fun! We love you, your family." She then went to the other bouquet and took the card out reading, "We love you sweetie! Have fun tonight sweetheart! Love, Mom and Dad." She smiled and set the cards down so she could sniff at the pink tulips from the rest of her family, knowing it was meant to symbolize good wishes and joyful occasions. She then did the same to the red and white amaryllis flowers her parents had given her, which meant pride. She had to shake herself then, turning her attention to the outfit she had for the next dance she'd be doing.
Grabbing the blouse that would go underneath the overdress, Julia looked up at the TV that was in the room. It was on, showing the concert and she smiled as Skye was singing Play the Game with John before she was pulling on her overdress. Her blouse was an off-white color and the overdress, sleeveless so a lot of the blouse was showing, was a denim-ish hue of blue. She pulled on her stockings, making sure her shorts she was wearing under her skirts and dresses that night wasn't too far down. Turning her attention to her shoes, she smiled when the stocking on her left leg slipped down and decided to leave it like that as it worked with her costume better. She hurried to the makeup table, checking her hair and smoothing it down before she went out into the hall to find Peter was there in a shirt, knickerbocker pants, suspenders and black socks. "At least we match in colors," she said, since his pants and suspenders were the same blue her overdress was.
"I know," Peter replied with a smile before he put on his cap that was grey. They turned together to Derek and said, "Are you sure you weren't in the Gatsby movie?" since the dancer was wearing a sweater vest in an argyle pattern with similar pants like he was wearing.
"I'm sure," Derek said with a laugh before he turned his attention to Skye who was walking up behind them with John.
"You guys look great," the singer told them.
"He's right, quite authentic," Skye said while she turned to Julia.
Smiling, the girl knew what the investigator meant by that, and she nodded as she'd had something like that in their past life when she'd been around six years old. Julia then realized what the pair was wearing, and she asked, "You too?"
"We have to look the part, don't we?" John said.
"Oh, natch," Skye said before they were smiling with Derek while the kids were snorting in their laughter. "And my coat comes right back on for when I sing again." Someone was calling to them and they hurried together to the stage without a word to one another. She and John were in matching outfits, knickerbocker pants in black, sweater vests in navy and sky blue, crisp white shirts and black blazers over that. They were both wearing straw hats with a navy and sky blue ribbon around them and she said, "I feel like a right toff. Top officer; swell?" adding the last as the singer had looked confused.
"I get swell," John said with a brief laugh while he watched her picking up the banjo uke on the old fashioned piano that had been put on the stage for him to play. "It's a good look."
"Everyone else too," Skye murmured as the video of Freddie talking about the song they were about to sing started to play. There were others there for the performance of the song Bring Back That Leroy Brown, to give it a party atmosphere and all were dressed for the twenties for the setting. She heard the interview was about to end and waited patiently since Barry would be starting the song off with his drum. Glancing at the kids who would start next to her she murmured, "Get ready," not surprised when they were both responding at the same time immediately.
"We are," the two said together. The lights on the stage were coming on just as the music began, and Julia and Peter were starting to dance the Charleston while Skye and John sang together, Derek with one of the women that was another performer.
Bring back, bring back, bring back that Leroy Brown, yeah!
Bring back, bring back, gotta ring that Leroy Brown, yeah!
As Skye was stepping out onto the stage a little, Beckett took another picture of her and then Julia and Peter as they were coming out to the stage too, still dancing. She smiled when Skye went back to the piano and John midway through the lyric, and they sang together while looking over at the two dancing still.
Bet your bottom dollar bill you're a playboy, yeah, yeah!
Daddy cool, with a ninety-dollar smile (oh yeah)
Took my money out of gratitude
And he get right out of town
Well, I gotta getty up steady up, shoot him down
Gotta hit that latitude, babe
While they were singing the first two lyrics again, John stood up from the piano as Julia and Peter ran back to them. The rest of the performers hurried up to them and they were bouncing up and down with those two lyrics
Bring back, bring back, bring back that Leroy Brown, yeah!
Bring back, bring back, gotta ring that Leroy Brown, yeah!
Beckett glanced at her husband at Barry singing the end of the second lyric in a deeper voice and she laughed before looking back at the beginning of the next verse. She appreciated the fact that Derek was dancing with one of the other performers, letting the kids rest. And she couldn't help being impressed with Skye's banjo playing after the second lyric while everyone froze on stage before the verse continued and the pair were dancing again.
Big bad Leroy Brown- he got no common sense
No, no, he got no brains, but he sure gotta lot of style
Can't stand no more in this, here, jail
I gotta ride myself of this sentence
Gotta get out of the heat, step into the shade
Gotta get me there dead or alive, babe
During the brief instrumental at that point, Mary was playing electric before it went into another verse. Julia and Peter started to run, the latter's hands on the former's shoulders as they were playfully mouthing the words while all the other performers were dancing at the same time.
Woo, woo, big, bad Leroy
Woo, woo, woo, woo
Big, bad Leroy Brown
With the music at the end of the last lyric, Julia and Peter were stopping and jumping up and down in time with it before they were spinning separately but at the same time to John as he was playing the piano on his own. When the lyrics from the start were being sung again, twice, the pair were doing the Charleston but apart from each other, moving wide so their motions would be more noticeable.
Bring back, bring back, bring back that Leroy Brown, yeah!
Bring back, bring back, gotta bring back Leroy Brown, yeah!
In the next verse, the first three lyrics were fast as the song as been so far. But at the middle, the music slowed down, and Skye held her banjo in her right hand as she went to John and put her hand on his shoulder as they sang the rest together. The others around them were still as well and mouthing the lyrics, swaying back and forth until the end of the verse.
Big mama Lulu Belle- she had a nervous breakdown
She had a nervous breakdown
Leroy's taken her honey chile away
But she met him down at the station, ooo-hoo
Put a shotgun to his head, and, unless I be mistaken
This is what she said
"Nice," Castle murmured to his wife quickly. When she nodded, he then looked down at Eliza, seeing her watching the performance in awe. He was about to nudge his wife when she was speaking to him, having to talk swiftly since they both knew the song was going to start again.
"I see," Beckett told him. She had been about to say more, but the song was coming back and speeding up. She wasn't surprised, at the way the first lyric was sung, that Julia and Peter were falling back into Derek and his partner's arms before they were pushed back up after the second lyric. She couldn't resist taking a picture of the pair as they were dancing with all the other performers watching them until Skye was backing up to the middle next to Julia and Peter. She took a picture as the performers, the two and Skye were singing the last lyric together while raising their hands and pointing in the air at the same time.
Big bad big boy, bid bad Leroy Brown
I'm gonna get that cutie pie
Bring back, bring back, bring back that Leroy Brown, yeah!
Big bad caused a mighty fine sensation, yeah, yeah!
Gone and got himself elected President
We want Leroy for President
Skye was playing the banjo on her own then, Julia leaning over on her knees right next to her and bouncing in rhythm with her playing. John ran his finger over the piano, and they were singing the last verse together as the other performers were dancing again until the song ended, and the lights went out on the stage immediately.
Next time you gotta hit a bitty baddy weather
This time like a shimmy shammy leather
He's a big boy, bad boy Leroy
I don't where you get him from
Bring that big, bad Leroy back
Want him back
Applauding with the others in the arena, Eliza smiled seeing the video starting to play of Freddie talking about the song Killer Queen. She went to her mother and squeezed her hand saying, "Next is you Mommy!"
"I know," Beckett said, feeling her husband pressing his hand on her back gently. She smiled at him and then turned her attention to the video as it was starting. She couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed, though she'd seen the finished video already, and only hoped the fans watching would enjoy it.
"Wow…" Peter said.
"Wow what?" Julia asked, she and Derek looking at him from where they'd stopped to watch the video.
"Uh… never mind," Peter said. He tried to keep his eyes on the screen, but he soon glanced at his dance partner and sighed saying, "They're… attractive… really attractive."
"Thank you, Peter," Skye said while she walked up to them and buttoned her jacket she'd put back on. "Don't worry, you're a boy so it'd be natural."
"What about your crush?" Julia asked him.
Shaking his head Peter said, "I just think they're pretty."
Julia nodded at that and then said to Skye, "You're going to rest?"
"Wait really," the investigator replied with a smile. "Since I'm after Green Day's up with their first song." Skye turned her attention to the screen as Green Day was beginning singing Keep Yourself Alive. She wasn't surprised the performance was a lot more energetic than in rehearsal and got herself ready to go back out when the song was nearing its end.
"You two better go change," Derek told them. "And you're comfortable to wear them, right?"
"Yeah," Peter said as Julia turned to him. "Are you going to stay in your dressing room?" he asked his partner.
"Yeah, but want to come over so we can watch?" Julia asked.
"I'll come get you guys when it's time," Derek told them.
Nodding, Julia hurried over to her dressing room, getting her middy blouse and dark blue skirt from the early 1900s but paused as she looked over at the screen when Billie Joe Armstrong was speaking to introduce the next song.
"Don't worry," Mary was telling her wife as she was with her side stage. She smiled when Skye turned to her, and she was about to kiss her when her wife was speaking first.
"I'm not, I'm as ready as I can be," Skye replied before a worker was motioning for her to head out. She walked onto the stage, up to what was going to be her mic which she grabbed, waiting before she and Billie Joe were starting to sing the opening of the song, taking lead vocals while Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool were singing the backing vocals while the band was playing the instruments.
Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like
At the start of the next verse, Skye was turning her head to the side and stepping up to Billie Joe so they could sing off each other before she took the last two lyrics, shaking her hand towards the band.
You say black, I say white
You say bark, I say bite
You say shark, I say hey man
Jaws was never my scene
And I don't like Star Wars
Taking another picture, Beckett was impressed by the way Skye and Billie Joe were being aggressive with each other, since the day before during rehearsal they'd played chords off each other. But she knew it was the song itself and the original recording that had inspired that idea. When they were singing the next verse the same way, she was smiling as the third and second to last of it had Skye pointing to the bassist and then Billie Joe before the four of them were singing together.
You say Rolls, I say Royce
You say God give me a choice
You say Lord, I say Christ
I don't believe in Peter Pan
Frankenstein or Superman
All I wanna do is
With the chorus, the four sang as they had at the start of the song before they came to the end and Skye took the lead vocals with the band backing her into the next verse. There she sang the first and last lyrics, turning to the band while they were singing the middle lyric themselves, the four of them taking the lyric that would lead them into the instrumental
Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle races are coming your way
So forget all your duties, oh yeah
Fat bottomed girls, they'll be riding today
So look out for those beauties, oh yeah
On your marks, get set, go
Watching in her dressing room, Julia looked at Peter who'd joined her, both changed and said, "I wonder if she minds not playing."
"I don't think so, she doesn't really play like that does she?" Peter asked her. He smiled when his partner shook her head and was about to ask her when the investigator would be playing next when Julia was speaking.
"I bet she'll be really happy to perform the next song; since the O'Dells will be with them for it," she said with a smile.
"Oh yeah, I forgot," Peter said.
Julia smiled at him and then turned back to the screen as the four were singing again.
Bicycle race, bicycle race, bicycle race
Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
(I want a) bicycle race
Eliza was jumping up and down at the sound of bells before the instrumental began and the lights were flashing on the stage as Green Day was playing. She grabbed her mother's hand when the music paused for a moment before Skye was singing with the band again before the investigator was spreading her hand back and shaking her head at the same time.
You say coke, I say 'caine
You say John, I say Wayne
Hot dog, I say cool it man
I don't want to be the President of America
Skye was singing off the band in the last verse before they were going into the last instance of the chorus until the music stopped.
Julia stood up from the chair in her dressing room when Rami came out to introduce the next song the O'Dells and Green Day would be performing, Don't Try Suicide. She'd heard it already and since she'd listened to it the day before she started practicing her steps for the next dance. "What?" she asked as she noticed Peter was looking at her.
"Just watching, you don't even need me huh?" the boy asked.
Laughing Julia said, "That's not how Derek choreographed it, so I kind of need you to dance with."
"Fair enough," Peter said. They watched the next performance and when the song was over, a singer he didn't know was walking out to the mic to speak and he said, "That song is…"
"I know, but they were trying to get people to not do that," Julia said. When the singer announced the next song was Seven Seas of Rhye, she smiled and said, "That's a good song."
"They're going to play it super rough," Peter commented while Green Day was beginning.
"Of course, it's what they do," Julia replied before they were watching the performance. She was a little startled when there was a knock on the door to the room and she hurried over to answer it before finding that it was Skye and Mary. "Hi… wait, you are a couple songs away, right?" she started to say before realizing that.
"We are, we wanted to check on you," Skye said first.
"For your parents," Mary added before looking over at Peter since he was groaning playfully before he spoke.
"Did they ask you to do that?" he asked them.
Shaking her head Skye said, "They just told us to make sure you two were alright. And since we've done that, we should go."
"You don't have to," Julia said.
"Oh, thank you," Skye said with a nod. She smiled then and told her, "Let me see your costume." She watched the girl spin on her toes and nodded saying, "Not bad, and you look comfortable," not surprised the girl was nodding rapidly in agreement to that
"What about you?" Mary asked.
Peter was about to respond when Green Day was beginning to perform In the Lap of the Gods with David Grohl, and they were watching it on the TV. When it was finished, he told them, "I'm okay…," as he was wearing a dark blue and white striped men's blazer, white trousers and a straw hat with a dark blue ribbon around it.
"You look quite dapper you know," Skye said. "It suits the time period we're going for, for this song of course."
"Oh… at least it's only for one dance," Peter said.
Glancing at the TV, as David Grohl was performing Innuendo, Mary turned to her wife and said, "We better go."
"Yeah, we're up next," Skye told the kids.
"Break a leg," Julia said.
"Want to head out and watch from the side?" Skye asked them.
"Sure," Julia said first before she looked at her partner.
"Yeah, I'll go too," Peter said hurriedly before they were leaving the dressing room with the two women.
Watching the end of the performance, Julia was smiling at the two women as they were walking up to them after having left for a moment, with their guitars. "Are you ready?" she asked them.
"Yep, look who we found," Skye answered.
"Hello again," The Weeknd said.
"Hi," Peter said, bowing as Julia curtsied holding out the sides of her skirt.
Laughing, the singer said, "I've never had a bow or a curtsey before."
"It's that British flavor," Skye said jokingly. She smiled when The Weeknd looked at her in confusion and said with a shrug, "Just trying to remember the chords."
Watching as the three were ushered out with the rest of the O'Dells, Julia was telling them to break a leg with Peter before they were waiting for the performance to start after Elton John spoke again. "Hi," she said to the singer when he walked to them.
"Hello," Elton said, shaking their hands. "This is yours for the next dance?" When the pair nodded, he said, "You should have fun."
"Hopefully!" Peter said, he and Julia laughing with the singer before the song was starting with Skye, The Weeknd and David Grohl on the first verse's vocals, the rest of the band singing the background harmonies.
Julia wasn't surprised when Peter looked at her with a frown on his face and she told him quickly, "Just wait," before they were getting to the last lyric of the verse before the music sped up with The Weeknd singing the single word it was.
When love breaks up
When the dawn light wakes up
A new life is born
Somehow I have to make this final breakthrough
Now
Beckett took a picture of Skye as she was playing the bass in that introduction before she took shots of all the others. She was pleased at getting one of David and Barry on their drum sets before she was listening to the former starting the next verse before Skye took over halfway through and she couldn't help moving in time to the music, enjoying the vocals of the two.
I wake up
Feel just fine
Your face
Fills my mind
I get religion quick
'Cause you're looking divine
Honey, you're touching something, you're touching me
I'm under your thumb, under your spell, can't you see?
Julia was smiling when Peter looked surprised and she murmured to him, "Just wait."
Looking at her, Peter was confused by that statement before he heard The Weeknd singing the next verse on his own. His eyes wide, he watched the singer in awe at the emotion he was putting into his lyrics and saw what his partner meant since the singer hadn't done that the day before.
If I could only reach you
If I could make you smile
If I could only reach you
That would really be a breakthrough, oh yeah
The next verse started after a short instrumental and all the performers were singing the first two words of the first two lyrics. With the rest of the two lyrics, The Weeknd sang on his own as he was raising his hand slightly in a gesture as if to the sky. David took the next two lyrics, Skye sang the rest of the verse after him, though there was a pause between the second to last and last lyrics. It allowed her to put more emotion into the last lyric and she was grateful for the cheering from their audience she could hear even with the music.
Break through these barriers of pain
Break through to the sunshine from the rain
Make my feelings known towards you
Turn my heart inside and out for you now
Somehow I have to make this final breakthrough
Now, oh yeah
The next verse The Weeknd was taking the first three lyrics, becoming intense at the third. David took the next three before they were singing the last lyric together.
Your smile speaks books to me
I break up
With each and every one of your looks at me
Honey, you're starting something deep inside of me
Honey, you're sparking something this fire in me
I'm outta control
I want to rush head long into this ecstasy
Skye took the chorus then, singing intently before she was singing the word breakthrough with the other two singers who were with her.
If I could only reach you
If I could make you smile
If I could only reach you
That would really be a breakthrough
David was taking the next instance of the chorus, but with the last line they all sang the word breakthrough together.
If I could only reach you
If I could make you smile
If I could only reach you
That would really be a breakthrough
Oh yeah
Breakthrough, breakthrough
With the instrumental, Julia and Peter were dancing together, just making steps up together before they were gasping when there were hands on their shoulders.
"You guys better take it easy," Derek said with a smile. "You'll exhaust yourself and we still have a little to go." He laughed when the pair glanced at each other and then shrugged but before he could say anything, The Weeknd was singing the chorus again as the others were singing the word breakthrough with him.
If I could only reach you
If I could make you smile
If I could only reach you
That would really be a breakthrough
For the last chorus, Skye, The Weeknd and David sang together, all of them singing the word breakthrough before there was an instrumental again and they sang the word one last time before the song was over.
If I could only reach you
If I could make you smile
If I could only reach you
That would really be a breakthrough
Breakthrough
Cheering as everyone bowed, Julia was clapping her hands before a video of Freddie talking about the next song was playing. She remembered it was Now I'm Here that The Weeknd was going to perform with the O'Dells and listening to the song she looked at Peter saying, "That one's in the movie."
Listening to it, the boy nodded before he said, "So next is us." Peter wasn't surprised when Julia was nodding before a voice behind them made them gasp before they whirled around as they continued to speak.
"I hope you two are ready," Paul said, smiling when the two were looking at him with wide eyes. "We are next."
"Hi," Julia said with a smile. "I haven't seen you since we took that picture."
"I know, I've been watching the concert," Paul said.
"What do you think of the O'Dells?" Peter asked.
"They're quite good," Paul replied. "Or are you asking what I think of Skye?
Smiling Peter said, "Just 'cause you're a performer too."
"She's good as well, now we have to go," Paul was saying since the song was over and they were being directed to walk out.
"Go ahead, we need to wait for Derek," Julia said before the dancer was coming over to them.
"You guys can go," Derek told them. "What?" he asked as the pair were looking at him.
"We forgot about what you'd be wearing," Peter said with a smile.
"It is supposed to be the beach," Derek replied as he was wearing a r costume similar to Peter's. "Come on," he said, ushering them over to the stage.
Julia looked at Skye, smiling as she had changed again, into a stripped blazer and straw boater which Paul was wearing as well. She took a white parasol one of the workers was handing to her and put it over her shoulder before she walked to the stage with Peter, both of them standing next to the old-fashioned piano where Paul was sitting while Skye was leaning against the side. After he had started playing the piano, she was pretending to stroll away from her partner a little before he grabbed her hand and they proceeded to tap side by side after the second lyric Skye and Paul were singing together. She and Peter continued to though they got into hold after the fifth lyric and continued through the rest of the verse.
Seaside whenever you stroll along with me
I'm merely contemplating what you feel inside
Meanwhile I ask you to be my Clementine
You say you will if you could, but you can't
I love you madly
Let my imagination run away with you gladly
A brand new angle highly commendable
Seaside rendezvous
Beckett took a picture of Julia and Peter as he was spinning her daughter at the first lyric of the next verse before taking a picture of Skye in time to catch her gesturing her hand at the French in the third lyric. She got a quick shot of Paul while he was singing with the investigator again for the rest of the verse.
I feel so romantic can we do it again?
Can we do it again sometime uh I'd like that
Fantastic c'est la vie mesdames et messieurs
And at the peak of the season
The Mediterranean
This time of year, it's so fashionable
With the instrumental at that point, which they'd used the original recording for since it had been Freddie and Roger making the sounds themselves, Julia and Peter were pulling on Skye's hands and they were tap dancing together, Derek coming over and dancing next to her. Since the instrumental was so long, they were dancing in hold before Peter dipped Julia and Derek dipped Skye before she had to start singing the next verse.
At the start of the verse, Derek stepped back, and Julia and Peter were tap dancing around Skye though Paul was singing with her as well. Before the fourth lyric though, the singer was leaving the piano, Raj rushing over, before he was singing the rest of the verse with Skye. Julia and Peter had stopped at the fourth lyric before they were tapping again as Paul and Skye were taking off their boaters and waving them at the pair.
I fee like dancing in the rain
Can I have a volunteer?
Just keep right on dancing
Just keep right on dancing
What a damn jolly good idea
It's such a jollification as a matter of fact
So tres charmant my dear
With the last verse, Julia and Peter were dancing when Skye moved around to the other side of them, smiling at her when she tapped with them a bit. With the last three lyrics the two stopped dancing as Skye and Paul sang the line before they all stopped on the last line and blew a kiss to the audience before the song ended and they were bowing with the rest of the band.
Underneath the moonlight
Together we'll sail across the sea
Reminiscing every night
Meantime I ask you to be my valentine
You say you'd have to tell your daddy if you can
I'll be your Valentino
We'll ride upon an omnibus and then the casino
Get a new facial
Start a sensational
Seaside rendezvous so adorable
Seaside rendezvous oh
Seaside rendezvous, give us a kiss
