Everything was falling into place.
Ochaco looked down at her long and silky, mint green dress to make sure she didn't get any weird looking stains on it. A lucky opportunity finally came to her without much effort. She still couldn't believe it. So many feelings swarmed around in her head, but it wasn't overwhelming this time around.
It felt so right.
In a sick and strange way, she was comfortable in her own skin for once, even if it was chilly outside. She was completely aware of every movement she made, every breath she took. Nothing was going to stop her from finally getting what her heart longed for.
Ochaco was doing all of this for him.
Adrenaline pumped through her veins, this obsession getting the best of her. She tried to calm herself down before anyone noticed her weird demeanor.
As she adjusted her flower headband and annoying gloves, she realized her hands were shaking. Blood began to rush up to her head and was worried she might ruin her one and only shot at finally getting what she wants.
Images of Izuku Midoriya when they first met helped her focus and regain whatever amount of composure she had left. Ochaco took an unsteady step with her annoying black high heels she bought specifically for this plan and entered the Winter themed dance.
A wide grin grew across her rosy cheeks as she spotted the love of her life in the crowd.
Izuku... you'll finally be mine...
One week ago...
"The Winter Dance is almost here," Mr. Aizawa told the entire class of 1-A students as he rolled up his yellow sleeping bag.
"A dance?!" The class responded in unison.
"The Winter Dance is for the first year students. It's a week away and will be set up in Gym Gamma. Make sure you're prepared and have something decent to wear. It is a formal dance after all. Go with a date, go as a group, I don't care. Class is dismissed."
The bell rang just in time, and Mr. Aizawa exited the classroom, happy to be done with the announcement. Even if he didn't show it.
As everyone got ready to leave, all of the girls except for Jirou were ecstatic. Some of the boys were as well. Mineta was especially thrilled, for different reasons. But a few were either uninterested or nervous about the whole thing.
A few minutes passed and everyone was hanging out with their friends as they walked back to the dormitories. The chilly air got everyone bundled up in scarves, hats and gloves. Sunlight shined down on them, but it didn't help all that much.
Iida and Midoriya were walking side by side with Uraraka falling behind. Unfortunately, she had a lot of thoughts and feelings running through her head.
I don't even have a dress to wear to the dance... There's no way I have enough money to buy one... I barely know how to dance... the concert we put on during the school festival helped, but it wasn't enough... And--
"Uraraka, is everything okay?" Midoriya interrupted.
Her face suddenly heated up despite the weather and tried to hide her embarrassment. Both Iida and Midoriya had confusion and concern written all over their faces.
"You've been really quiet for awhile," Iida said, and immediately assumed the worst as he chopped the air with his hands. "This wouldn't have anything to do with your grades, would it?! I'd hate to see you falling behind!"
"No, don't worry about that. I'm surprisingly doing pretty well considering everything that's happened the past couple months..."
All Uraraka could do was play with her fingers while avoiding eye contact with them.
Why is it so hard to talk to them about this? It doesn't make any sense.
Once her lost eyes met Midoriya's hopeful eyes, realization hit her hard enough to make her heart flutter and stop herself from telling the truth.
Or at least, the entire truth.
"I-I just... can't believe Mr. Aizawa told us about the Winter Dance at the last minute. We only have until Saturday night to get ready..."
"I'm sure we'll figure out something," Midoriya told her with an optimistic smile, "Right Iida?"
"Of course. As Class Rep., I'll make sure our class is well prepared for such an occasion!" Iida responded with a lot of gusto, still moving his arms out of habit, "If you don't find a date in time, the three of us can go as a group."
The word date made her freeze in place. She didn't even realize she held her breath until her chest began to ache. Iida meant well and was only looking out for his friends, but it still twisted her up inside.
"D-Da-Date?"
Tension left Uraraka's body the instant she noticed Midoriya freeze up just like her. His cheeks were a little red as well.
I guess he's just as awkward as me when it comes to dating. Maybe I...
Uraraka shook her head and walked ahead of them.
"Don't worry you guys, I'm fine. Like you said, we'll figure out something. I'm sure the girls are all over it, especially Ashido and Hagakure."
She turned around to give them a big thumbs up with a semi smile on her face. It took a second, but they decided to walk along side her, placing her in the middle of the group.
Awkward silence filled the frigid air within the trio. Mostly.
Midoriya was right by her left shoulder, and she couldn't even glance up at him for a second. Especially with him standing that close.
Why is this happening? I never had this problem before. I... I like him as more than a friend, but now it's getting worse. Maybe the girls will know what I should do.
While Uraraka did everything she could to focus on the dorms, Midoriya was glancing at her every minute that passed by until they finally made it.
The walk felt like it lasted an eternity.
Inside Class 1-A's dormitory, everyone was talking about the Winter Dance, the girls mostly. They were all grouped together, talking about what kind of dresses to buy. Jirou wasn't too thrilled about it, but Yaoyorozu was eventually able to get her to smile.
Uraraka still didn't know how she was going to afford a dress, let alone everything to go along with it.
As the guys settled in, she inconspicuously walked over to her girlfriends. They noticed her staring at the floor, all flustered and worn out.
They all knew right away that she wanted to talk to them, alone. Before she had a chance to say anything, Ashido grabbed her hand and led her towards the girls' dorm rooms.
"Come on. You look like you want to talk."
I'm finally getting around to writing another fanfic! I'm really excited to see where this story goes. I already have an idea for this one, but the details are still being figured out. I don't know how long it will be, but I'm thinking about the same length as the previous one, maybe slightly longer.
We'll see. I can't wait to write more!
This story takes place right after the battles between Class 1-A and 1-B.
