A few minutes ago...
Uraraka was quiet the whole walk over to her room. The girls didn't say a word either.
It felt like she had butterflies fluttering around in her stomach. The stupid dance and her major crush on one of her best friends was all she could think about. It kept eating away at her with every step she took.
Go away... Go away... Go away... Go away...
Before she knew it, they were standing outside her dorm room. It took all of her strength to open her own door. Everyone gathered inside and settled in. Yaoyorozu sat on Uraraka's desk chair, Ashido and Hagakure sat on the floor, and Jirou and Asui sat on the bed with Uraraka between them.
Unsurprisingly, Ashido was the one to break the silence.
"So, you wanted to talk?"
Uraraka subtly nodded, confirming her assumption. Ashido's golden eyes lit up, curiosity taking over.
"I-It's about... the Winter Dance..." Uraraka muttered as she played with her fingers to keep her calm. She made sure to not accidentally turn on her quirk.
"Yeah, we figured," Jirou told her, "It kinda came up out of the blue, didn't it?"
"Do you need a dress? You're more than welcome to any of mine," Yaoyorozu suggested with a prideful tone to her voice.
Uraraka was tempted to borrow one of her down right gorgeous dresses, but she had already borrowed a dress from her before. It didn't feel right to have her lend another.
"No, that's okay," Uraraka responded, "I'll buy my own... somehow..."
How am I going to afford a dress? It's not like I can get a part-time job anytime soon.
"Could this have anything to do with asking out a certain someone?" Ashido asked with a knowing grin.
"Midoriya?!" The rest of the group said in unison.
Uraraka could swear her face was on fire in an instant. Before she knew it, memories of Izuku Midoriya took over her mind once again.
"Oh my god, you two would be so cute together!" Hagakure commented, showing off her invisible smile.
"You really think so?" Uraraka mumbled while she was in her own romantic world.
Wearing fancy attire... Holding hands... Laughing together... Slow dancing... Gazing into each other's eyes... Embracing...
Just as her and Midoriya were about to kiss in her sparkly imagination, she quickly shook it out.
"It doesn't matter. Deku is working hard to become a great hero, and I don't want to get in the way of that."
"Yeah, but you like him as more than a friend, right?" Asui asked as she placed her hand on Uraraka's shoulder.
"She was holding onto him pretty tightly when he lost control of his quirk a few days ago," Ashido commented with a flirty grin on her face.
She just had to bring that up, didn't she?
Uraraka's fists tightened while her distant eyes focused on the floor. Her fragile heart felt like it was about to burst. She couldn't hold in her feelings anymore, it was all too much.
She had to let it out.
"Yeah... I do."
"I knew it!" Ashido squealed with excitement, holding hands with Hagakure.
All of the girls looked like they were about to take off like a rocket. Their smiles doubled in size, causing Uraraka to blush from embarrassment. After several seconds of squealing and jumping, it died down once they noticed her body language.
Uraraka finally confessed to her friends, and a bit of relief was lifted off her shoulders.
But it didn't change anything.
"I told you guys the truth, but this doesn't change the fact that Deku only sees me as a friend."
It was a little too quiet too quickly. All the girls seemed lost in thought, but then Ashido took charge and stood up to Uraraka's doubtful mind.
"How do you know that?! Midoriya has always been awkward around people. He could've liked you from the beginning, and never realized it! You need to think about yourself for once and just go for it! You'll never get a chance like this ever again! Don't you realize that?!"
A fire lit inside Uraraka as Ashido stood in a fierce and determined stance. It made her look like a real superhero.
"Besides," Asui said, "We could all use this time to have fun for once, ribbit. As long as nothing happens before the Dance-"
"Don't jinx it!" Hagakure interrupted as she stood by Ashido's side, "We need all the time and luck we can get to help her out."
"Help me out?"
"Of course," Yaoyorozu responded, "You want to ask him to the Winter Dance? Then we'll make sure you get a chance to do so."
Uraraka was very grateful for all their support, but guilt took ahold of her.
"Thank you so much, but you don't have to," She told them, getting up from her bed, "You guys probably have plans, and I don't want to get in the way of them."
"Don't worry about that," Jirou told her as she and Asui followed Uraraka, "I don't know about them, but I'm all set."
"You are?" The group said in unison, then Asui asked, "Did you already ask someone?"
"No!" Jirou answered a little too quickly with a slight blush. She was able to compose herself in a split second and continued, "I don't want to ask anyone, and I already have a dress. So, I'm good."
"You already wore that one on I-Island," Yaoyorozu said and immediately stepped in as Class Vice Rep., "That's it. We're all going shopping!"
While Jirou had an appalled look on her face, everyone else cheered. Uraraka hesitated to the suggestion.
"I told you, I don't have-"
Yaoyorozu held her hand up in front of Uraraka's face, shutting her up.
"You can make it up to me some other way. You can... help me with hero training... and maybe buy me some of that delicious mochi you eat all the time."
Her genuine smile was contagious and it spread to Uraraka.
How can I say no to any of this?
Eventually, all of her friends were smiling. She couldn't help herself any longer and gave them a big group hug. Her heart swelled with so much gratitude and love for her amazing friends that it almost made her cry tears of joy.
"You guys are the best."
Sorry this chapter took awhile. I've been working on other stuff and have been a bit busy. Also I had trouble writing this chapter. In the end, I think it turned out decent. The next chapter will get into dancing lessons... uh oh...
I don't know if I'll always go back and forth between Midoriya and Uraraka, we will see!
