I Can't Believe Izuku and Ochako Are Teen Parents
DISCLAIMER: Kōhei Horikoshi owns the characters and the world known as Boku no Hero Academia. I do not own anything else except original characters like Natsuo Midoriya, but I enjoy playing in Horikoshi's universe.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Okay, so for those wondering, how Izuku and Ochako spell their child's name will be viewed in this chapter. And though I'll touch upon it in the story, the Sludge Villain incident still happened, but here's the lowdown:
• The event happened in Asahi.
• Izuku and Ochako were walking down an empty alleyway when the villain emerged from a sewer drain attempting to snag one of them as a disguise to evade being captured; Ochako was caught.
• Izuku managed to paralyze the villain by hurting his eyeballs and freeing her from his viscous grip.
• All Might showed up and had witnessed Izuku's fearlessness and sturdy determination against a terrifying villain, not afraid to sacrifice himself if it meant keeping Ochako safe; they were saved, the villain captured in an empty pop bottle, and it was safely brought to the nearby police station.
• Instead of ten months training at Takoba Beach like in canon, it was fifteen months at a remote location outside Asahi (the incident took place in November and the kids were still in their second year of junior high school).
• Halfway through training (unlike canon, the training plan is based off this deconstruction of the plan seen on the "shonen spirit" website (just add this after the dot com - /2018/06/05/deku-training/), All Might revealed his true form to both kids and also fully disclosed the quirk One For All (he also took to helping Ochako train alongside her boyfriend using a modified plan for her and her Quirk use).
• Izuku received One For All five months before the UA Entrance Exams and had those extra months to slowly get used to it and find his starting point with encouragement and support from Ochako.
So yes, this Izuku is a bit different than canon, but he's still the Izuku we love and adore with his hero otakuness, his mutter storms, and his drive to be the greatest hero he can be. In this world he's also a dad with a three year old son and a loving girlfriend/future wife and mother of his child.
EDIT (5/30/21 - 7:46 PM): Edited some dialogue at request of a friend. Also, please do not leave behind any rude comments. At least when it came to the "sensitive topics" stuff, I have actual outside help from friends in my social group who have gone through pregnancies and have raised children of their own. Chapter Two: How It Happened
During the time that Izuku and Ochako controlled the kitchen to make breakfast, those that stuck around downstairs was mostly the rest of the girls, Eijiro, Hanta, Denki, and of course Katsuki who was sitting next to his auntie Inko. And when Natsuo's attention was grabbed, the girls mostly gushed over the cute boy, and Natsuo was just a happy ball of sunshine and smiles soaking up all the attention. He definitely proved that he was Izuku's son by babbling a bit over Toru's invisibility, or Tsuyu's frog-like traits she had, and he adored Momo when the young woman created two large smiling plush dolls of his parents in their hero costumes. The parents in question would look over once and awhile, enjoying how Natsuo was enjoying the attention. He was a cutie, after all.
But soon the couple was done slaving in the kitchen as the scent of food filled the air. Those who went to unpack were called back downstairs for breakfast. It was quite a unique breakfast for the rest of Class 1-A. Izuku and Ochako had prepared fried eggs, bacon, sausage patties, pan-fried slices of hickory smoke deli ham, and made waffles with a Belgium waffle maker that Ochako unpacked from their belongings.
Breakfast Tacos, the two declared.
Basically, when Izuku made the waffle batter like normal, he added three drops of pure vanilla extract to give the waffles a slight sweetened taste. And it is good. The waffles – done to a golden brown – are basically used as the 'shell' then layered with a light spread of butter, syrup (although it is optional), your select choice of meat, and then a fried egg before you sandwich it in half. A unique breakfast item created by the author of this story, by the way.
So, anyway, while everyone was sitting at the tables enjoying their breakfast tacos, it was Momo who finally decided to speak.
"Midoriya, could you explain to us just how exactly you and Uraraka became parents? Without any of the… private details?"
Izuku and Ochako glance at each other. Natsuo was eating his cut-up waffles smothered with some butter and syrup, and he had scrambled eggs instead with a sausage patty also cut into small pieces. Inko was staying with her grandson.
Izuku sighed.
"Well… everybody here would understand how in junior high school there will be a point in which we all have the mandatory health education class to discuss some personal topics… our sex education, basically."
Some nod, others just silently agree. Mineta's the only one whose paying rapt attention to all of this. Izuku and Ochako glance to each other. Both had a feeling that another sex ed lesson may be brought up again in the future since UA turned into a boarding school; they'd be stupid not to, as now you got hormonal super-powered teens living in dorms, and anything could happen.
"Izuku and I… well… it was in the sixth grade that he asked me if I'd like to be his girlfriend. And he was so cute and so shy. Of course, I was too when he asked me out. We've basically been together since we met when we were six years old, when he moved into my hometown. So the two of us have been romantically involved for four years now, I believe."
Izuku nodded, taking this moment to add to the conversation.
"Yeah, so, you can say that curiosity was what made us… active… it was fun, it was pleasurable, and we both just enjoyed making each other feel so good."
The two cinnamon buns were blushing at this point, and a couple of their listeners were also looking upon them with slight reddened cheeks (or in Mina's case lilac cheeks).
"We did practice safety, of course, after our initial… exploration… whenever we visited the local clinic if we were sick, or for the usual health check-ups, Izuku and I would sneakily take the free condoms they would have in the doctor's office."
Izuku chuckled a bit. "The one time we didn't use protection, I knock up Ochako."
"It was a weekend in November when we decided to confront our parents about me being pregnant and Izuku being the father once I started showing the signs of morning sickness that's normally associated with pregnancy. We were scared, naturally. I was still coming to grips over the fact that I had an actual life growing inside of me, a life that we created together. And Izuku too was just as worried about what was going to happen, though he was putting on a brave face and was being caring and tender. For a time it was easy to hide the fact I was pregnant while in school. Only very few knew of this, that being the school's principal and the school nurse, as well as our homeroom teacher."
"We were scared of what people would say if the other kids found out. I mean, we're in junior high, and Ochako is pregnant because I decided the one time we made love to not use a condom. Kids can be pretty mean and insightful of others' feelings," Izuku adds. "There was even a point where we both truly just talked down about whether or not we really wanted this. But we both in the end felt that… we did not want to terminate an unborn life. It sounds really crazy, and no doubt some people would begin a debate over this, but in the end, we again confronted our parents and told them how we felt and what we wanted to do."
Izuku gazes at Ochako briefly.
"So, despite some people outside our family objecting, that being the nurse, principle and homeroom teacher, we decided that we would go through the whole thing. But once the baby bump became more and more noticeable, Ochako's dad, Genmaicha, decided to have his daughter pull out of school for awhile and be home schooled. And since I'm going to be a dad soon, I also pulled out. I did everything I can to make her comfortable."
"And it was wonderful. Izuku actually looked up books at the library on how to be a good first-time father, how to take care of babies, he researched this." She giggled a bit, smiling happily to Izuku. "Heck, he was more focused on how to be a good father that he for a time put away his usual hobby of analyzing quirks he witnesses in life."
Ochako grins now, elbowing the teen in the side.
"He even had a notebook called Dad Analysis for the Future."
Several of the other classmates all share lighthearted laughter. Izuku blushed. Katsuki stared at Izuku and shakes his head.
"Always a nerd," he mutters softly.
Katsuki knew that he and Izuku haven't seen eye to eye, ever since that day when he and auntie Inko moved out of the neighborhood and never returned. For a time, he was happy that the useless nerd was gone, until it got lonely. And then the first day of his first year attending UA, attending their Hero Course, he runs into Deku who was accompanied by Round Cheeks. The learned fact that Deku was at UA was when his letter from UA showed up and he learned that he was accepted, but the score board they briefly displayed, he saw the nerd's name on the top ten list, ranked number three while Round Cheeks was ranked number four.
But during those eight years that had gone by, he ended up missing Deku's company and his rattling about heroes and quirks and the comments he made about him that were full of adoration. It had him re-evaluate that what he did when he was younger was stupid. He wanted to be a hero. Heroes don't bully kids. He was brash, arrogant, and rude as he got older, sure, but that day seeing Deku again… he felt a sense of joy to see just how different the nerd looked eight years older. They certainly weren't little kids anymore. But despite all that, he still wasn't going to be beaten easily; there's that rivalry that somehow formed between them after the USJ incident. He wasn't going to let Deku beat him at being number one.
But now, couple months into the school year, after the bullshit that happened with the camp, the villains' invasion and his subsequent kidnapping and then rescue, the duel in Camino that lead to All Might retiring after defeating the powerful super villain, this bombshell: Bam! Deku's a teenage dad and Round Cheek's the girl he got pregnant. And on top of that, he's no longer quirkless. He pondered about how the hell Deku of all people now had a quirk that was insanely stupid-strong the first day of school Aizawa pulled them all outside to do a Quirk Apprehension Test and seeing Deku use the quirk for the first time. There are reports of late bloomers happening, but the last person who developed a quirk late was eight years old. So how old was Deku when his quirk manifested…?
"–and luckily, there was a nurse who had a unique quirk that allowed whatever she touched that was biological to stretch and obtain briefly an elasticity. Though the labor still close to an hour, Natsuo was safely born."
Katsuki snaps from his thoughts, and focused his attention to Deku and Round Cheeks again, biting into his breakfast taco that he sprinkled with red pepper flakes and hot sauce instead of using syrup.
"All the studying I did on how to be a dad…" Here, Izuku's eyes began to mist, as his face took on an emotion that could only be described as pure joy and love. "The moment we heard his cries fill the room… I was… I was so overwhelmed. That small little bundle, this tiny little human… was my son. He was my child."
Izuku paused for a moment, a hand cupping over his mouth as his eyes closed. Tears fell down his cheeks. A couple of his classmates also had tears running freely; they could just see and understand how emotional Izuku was right now, as the young man was now reliving that day in his mind, the day his son was born.
"And when I was finally able to hold him after Ochako held him and cooed over him, I swore that day that I would be the best father Natsuo ever had. And one day, the best husband to Ochako."
He looked to his girlfriend, who was also teary-eyed like him.
"We learned what it's like raising a baby," Izuku informed the others, as he wiped her tears away, and Ochako wiped Izuku's tears away with the brush of her thumb. "A lot of nights that are sleepless whenever he gets cranky and wakes us up via the baby monitor."
"Learning how to properly feed and burp him," she said with fond reminiscing. "It was a unique experience. For a time it was the baby formula the hospital provided during the time I was resting after giving birth. Then for another time I sometimes switched to breast feeding him after we were home. Even seeing Izuku learn how to feed Natsuo with the formula bottle was an experience in itself."
When Mineta quietly giggled in regards to the mentioning of Ochako breast feeding her son, he got a sharp punch to the side of his gut by Katsuki who was sitting next to the grape-headed boy. Said teen hissed in pain, but the dark look he got from the explosive blond quelled his voice. Luckily Izuku and Ochako didn't notice this.
Izuku looks behind him to look at his son finishing his meal next to his grandma Inko.
"The times when we would properly bathe him in the sink using a special baby bath tub that would fit in most standard-size sinks."
"Seeing the common trope of a dad gagging at messy diapers during changing," Ochako added with a smirk directed at Izuku now.
A few of them got the mental image of a brave Izuku Midoriya trying to change a baby's diaper, and then making such funny faces whilst gagging horrifically, and it prompted some giggles and chuckles.
"You wouldn't allow me to wear a hazmat suit, hon," Izuku told Ochako off, which prompted more laughter of amusement at the next mental image of Izuku Midoriya donning a high-grade hazmat suit just to change a dirty diaper.
"Please, I had no trouble during the times that I changed Natsu-kun's diaper," she said to her boyfriend. "Same with mama Inko or my mom."
"I still to this day will never understand how just bad a foul odor and sticky mess can come out of a baby," he argued.
Ochako stares at her boyfriend. "How do you think our parents must have felt when we were babies, hm? I at least know from some of the stories mom told me, dad reacted similar to what you did when changing a diaper."
"If we ever have a second child, Ochako, I'm buying a hazmat suit for the diaper duty days," Izuku tells Ochako.
Some eyebrows are raised in surprise when they heard Izuku so casually make that statement. Ochako blushed a bit at the prospect of them having a second child. A small part of her hopes that if one day they do, they have a daughter.
"And if that were to happen, you'd probably buy a truck-load of 'em," she responded.
"Damn right I will," he mutters under his breath, before biting down the rest of his breakfast taco and quietly chews his food, mouth closed, of course.
Ochako just shakes her head, amused by her boyfriend's antics.
"So, anyway, it is an experience raising a child. I believe Izuku and I are very lucky that we got such loving parents who fully supported us. I know that most other teen couples would likely not have half the support from their families. Then again, there's the whole family thing that tends to bring out the sadder side of things such as social shaming, or in the worst cases the teen mom being kicked out of the family house and forced to go at it alone, or the father-to-be running away and refusing to take up responsibility."
And Ochako had done some research on teen pregnancy and the odds of a teen mother having the support that she had. Most don't even experience such things until around fifteen or sixteen at the earliest. The fact she had Natsuo so young was still a bit shocking (once of course you talk about it willingly), but even then there were statistics of girls from across the world getting impossibly pregnant at ages even younger than when she had Natsuo.
"I'd be pretty horrible if I had done that," says Izuku. "Certainly would never be worthy of being a hero if I didn't take responsibility in the first place. Not that I would have run away back then, Ochako, but, ya know, I was much at fault when we were doing it, and-"
"I know what you mean, Izuku," she said, cutting him off before he went on a ramble. "You are one of the few men that one hundred percent took full responsibility, and you stuck through it all up to Natsuo's birth. That's why I fell in love with you all over again. You'll always do the right thing. The heroic thing."
Ochako was smiling happily. Izuku smiles back as he leans close and planted a quick kiss on her lips.
"Your kindness and your friendship… it's what stole my heart. It's the crime I'd gladly let you get away with, sweetie," he whispers lovingly to Ochako. "Since it's what allowed us to be together, as boyfriend and girlfriend."
Ochako giggles.
Mina was grinning.
"That's so adorable," she whispers with a giddy tone.
Tenya finally decided to speak.
"Midoriya, Uraraka, while I am glad that the two of you have this happiness together raising a child like young Natsuo-kun, I would like to inquire if… the private intimacy between you two will continue? I'm only asking due to the concerns that adult relations are strictly forbidden while on school grounds."
"You don't have to worry, Iida. Ochako and I… well… we have a three year old son to love and raise and teach right from wrong. I think it may be quite awhile before we ever get intimate on such a level again. So, please, put your fears to rest."
Tenya nodded, a soft smile forming.
"He is so adorable, though," said Toru.
"Yup. I totally agree on that, kero."
Ochako beams happily.
"We made sure to pack Natsuo's baby pictures. Later today after we're all done unpacking, I can show them off."
Izuku grins as well.
"Oh, yeah! You'll love the photos! There's one of me having Natsuo in a baby bjorn. It's an All Might-themed baby bjorn."
Katsuki barked a laugh.
"Sheesh, always the nerd for All Might, Deku," he said, shaking his head.
Because he could totally see Deku nerding out over anything relating to All Might. Ochako laughed, remembering how proud Izuku looked wearing that thing, and six month old Natsuo looking totes adorable. The rest were very much aware of how much of a hero otaku Izuku was, so it was worthy of a few goodhearted laughs.
"You were such a dork when you spazzed seeing it, sweetie."
"C'mon, Chako! It was an All Might baby bjorn! When I saw it at the baby store, I just HAD to buy it so I can wear it and be a proud and happy dad!"
"After we bought it, you ripped the packaging off, strapped it on, and then set Natsuo inside the baby bjorn and walked around the mall as we spent that day being together with our family. You were grinning from ear to ear, especially when other people saw how cute Natsuo was, even if some of them showed that they weren't that pleased seeing us as young teen parents. Thankfully they didn't verbally comment their thoughts."
"Yeah, but it's too bad Natsu-kun's gotten bigger and older now. I still have that thing, you know. I refused to donate it to a thrift store."
Kyoka was grinning at the sight of the two cinnamon buns being so parental.
"Yeah, you two definitely would be the perfect husband and wife one day."
"Probably right after high school is when they're getting married," said Denki.
"Hopefully we'll all be invited to the wedding," says Hanta.
Izuku sees his mother take Natsuo's plate to the kitchen, before feeling a tug on his shirt. He looks down to his son. Right away, Izuku picks Natsuo off the ground and plants him on his left knee. He sits there, happy grin displayed. Ochako dabbed a napkin with her tongue and reached over to wipe Natsuo's cheeks of any remnants of sticky syrup.
"Midoriya?"
Izuku looks to Shoto. "Yes, Todoroki?"
"How is your son's name spelled?"
"Oh. Well, it was after he was born that we were coming up with how we'd spell out our son's name on the birth certificate when thinking that his name should have a good meaning. With my family name it contains the characters 'green' (緑) and 'valley' (谷), so his given name would contain 'summer' (夏) and 'living' (生). Our hometown is in the countryside of Mie Prefecture, and during the summer months, it is very beautiful and worth just exploring on a wanderlust to the other towns and cities around there."
Ochako had spelled the full name out on a dry erase board she politely asked Momo to create with her quirk, and showing the written characters to the others.
"I have an older brother whose name is also Natsuo, though the second part of his given name is spelled with the character for 'masculinity'."
Izuku smiles.
"Wow. That's nice to know, Todoroki."
Shoto smiled a bit.
"I think my brother would find it amusing my friend has a child named Natsuo. Then again, he'd question how you'd became a dad in the first place. He's currently in college studying for a degree in medical welfare."
"That's amazing. I hope he succeeds in his dream," said Izuku.
Shoto nodded to Izuku. "I'll pass that along to him."
"Hey, I've been meaning to ask."
"Yes, Kacchan?"
"What in the f–" He paused, remembering that there's a small child in the room, and his auntie is also within earshot. "World are you even wearing? Did Round Cheeks dress you up?"
Izuku glanced at himself.
He's wearing green cargo shorts, a silk buttoned shirt that has the design of stained glass panels in a cobblestone fragment colored purple and yellow, and it's worn over top a long-sleeve shirt that is white and green-striped.
"It was surprisingly cold this morning, so this is what I chose to put on."
"Don't be rude, Bakugo," Ochako told the teen. The outfit she wore consisted of black leggings with a modest jean skirt, and a black long-sleeve shirt. The puffy-looking white vest she had on earlier had since been taken off and hanging on the back of her chair she sat in. "I think he looks cute, especially if he wears his bucket hat."
"Bucket hat?" asks Eijiro.
Izuku somehow pulls out from his pocket a green and white-striped bucket hat and puts it on top his head. It casts a noticeable shadow over his eyes now, as he sits there and smile.
"Your taste is atrocious," Bakugo informs him flatly.
Mina just giggled at the sight.
Soon they all get up and bring their plates to the kitchen where Inko told the kids that she'd take care of the cleaning up, and sent them off to unpack their belongings in their rooms after checking over the list she left on the table. Mineta, of course, verbally complained on why Izuku and Ochako were the only two students who got to share a dorm room together on the fourth floor. The answer to that was Natsuo would have a room next door to them, and the room opposite of Mina's dorm is where Inko was going to reside.
Mineta also noted that there were no girls at all on the second floor where he was placed at and complained, though mostly his apparent jealousy towards Izuku sharing a room with Ochako was largely ignored by everybody. The students went to work with unpacking and moving in.
"Natsuo, I want you to behave for grandma, okay? Stay within her sight, and don't wander off without her, okay, sweetie?" Izuku asks his son.
"Okay, papa," he answers, getting a loving hug from Izuku in return.
"Have fun playing with your toys," he says before getting up off the floor and he follows Ochako to the stairs. Mina followed behind them.
"I can't believe that you're being allowed to share a dorm with Uraraka, Midoriya," she commented.
Izuku chuckled a bit.
"Well… we ARE teenage parents, and we're going to be here for our high school years, and Natsuo's living with us, too. It was something that was talked about by the school's principal over the phone a day after All Might visited our home in Asahi. We don't want Natsuo to be away from us for so long."
"When they suggested that mama Inko live on campus grounds to care for Natsu-kun during the school days and to take on the role as a Dormitory Mother, everyone was in agreement. She heavily argued for our behalf in regards to dorm sharing, otherwise they would have had us stay in separate dorms as they originally planned."
"And considering the layout map shows an empty room between Mineta and Aoyama, something tells me I would have been stuck on the second floor."
Mina shivered a bit.
"Having Mineta as a neighbor… I'd have felt sorry for ya Midoriya if that had actually happened," she said, patting him on the back.
Soon they reach their floor and Mina splits away from them to head down the hall to her assigned dorm room. They stand in front of the door that has a plaque mounted to the door with their combined names etched on the gold-colored metal plate.
They open the door and see their belongings piled in the room along with other things they had brought over from their former apartment.
"So… shall we get to work?" he asks his girlfriend.
She smiles back at him.
"Let's get to work, Izuku," she declared.
If you recall the map layout of how the dorms were settled for the Class 1-A Students, Midoriya's room in canon is now empty and Uraraka's room is now shared by Midoriya. Next door to them is Natsuo. And Inko takes the last slot next to Ashido's dorm room. Just like in canon, no girls on the second floor. That's why Mineta was jealous; Midoriya's been allowed to sleep in the same room as his girlfriend for their three years at UA.
And no, they're not gonna be doing any giggity. A young child, especially one who is as energetic as Natsuo is, will be the ultimate sex deterrent.
