A/N: This is for the RPS Monster Mash fest for the prompts 'ghosts' and 'floating candles', for the 5 drabbles challenge prompt 'ostentatious' with the pairing Hermione/Sirius.
Hermione and Sirius walked into the main reception room of the Paradise Hotel and Spa for the Ministry's Halloween gala.
The hotel was the epitome of luxury. It was decorated ostentatiously, although you couldn't see much of it in the darkened room. The only light came from clusters of floating candles near the ceiling no, and the ghosts which weaved in and out of the guests added to the atmosphere of the affair.
"Can you see Harry?" Hermione asked him.
"I can't really see anyone. It's too dark," Sirius admitted.
"Let's just walk around until we find him and Ginny then. Or any of the Weasley's to be honest."
The two of them pushed through the crowds saying the occasional hello until they found George and Angelina sitting at a table next to the dance floor.
"Hi guys!" Angelina said enthusiastically.
"Hello Angelina, George," Hermione replied.
"I see you got stuck with table duty," Sirius commented.
"Only for the moment," George replied.
"We've already had a few dances so we thought we'd let the others get drinks and some as well. Why don't you take a seat?" Angelina said, gesturing to the unoccupied chairs in front of them.
Once they did each couple took the time to catch up on everything that had happened since the last time they had seen each other.
"-it blew up in his face. It turned his skin and clothes lime green!" George chuckled, recounting an accident Lee Jordan had had at Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes.
"Sounds like he needs to concentrate a little more," Sirius laughed.
"Usually he's not so bad, but he's definitely been distracted lately. I think it might be to do with Annette's wedding."
"I hope he manages to move on somehow," Hermione said sadly.
She felt sorry for Lee as she knew that Annette was the love of his life, but he wasn't hers. Hermione could not imagine having to watch Sirius be happy without her.
"He will do eventually. It's just going to take time," George replied.
Just after he said that, the rest of the Weasleys, and Harry returned to the table to have a rest.
The rest of the night was spent dancing, talking, and drinking. It was one of the best Halloween's Hermione and Sirius had ever had, as for once his thoughts weren't solely on James and Lily.
