Sighing as he arrived at the chosen training grounds about half an hour after the set meeting time, Naruto snickered softly at finding Sasuke and Sakura sitting there, obviously waiting for their sensei. "I told you he would be late," he drawled, walking into the field, hands in pockets as he smirked at his companions.
"Shut up, Naruto," Sakura snarled, making Naruto raise an eyebrow at her before shrugging and taking a seat in a bit of shadow, crossing his legs and sighing softly as he pulled out his journal and a pen. "What are you doing now?' she asked as he tapped the back of the pen against his lip before sighing softly.
"Writing an essay," Naruto hummed, Sasuke raising an eyebrow at the other male, watching him write something down.
"Why?" Sasuke asked, watching him closely, wondering just what he was doing at the moment. Naruto flicked his eyes up and smirked before turning back to his work.
"Because it's a good way to practice writing your reports and distancing yourself from the details until you have time to do so in a proper setting," Naruto stated, repeating what his tutor had told him. "Even the ANBU have to learn how to do that when they first become shinobi themselves, and work even more to hone that skill when they don their masks," he continued, looking up and blanching when the other two stared at him with wide eyes. "What?" he whined.
"How the fuck did you learn all of this?" Sakura growled, reaching out to grab at Naruto, blinking when he pushed away from her, dodging her grab with an ease of movement that she had never seen in him before the last week.
"I learned it from my tutor," Naruto huffed, shaking his head with a dry look at his teammate. Shaking his head, he went back to writing his essay, keeping in mind that he needed to keep the details straight but his feelings out of it. He was getting better, or so Sparrow told him, but he really did find it hard to keep feelings out of his reports. But he could understand where the need to separate one's feelings when it comes to the reports.
After all, the nins that dealt with the reports had to read them and any added emotions within the reports would end up adding to their own emotions.
"How did you get yourself a tutor?" Sakura asked, unknowingly echoing what Sasuke wanted to know, blue eyes coming to stare at them once more, drawing away from his journal.
"What?" Naruto asked, blinking a few times as Sakura's eyebrow twitched in agitation as she stared at him, her body vibrating. "I wasn't paying attention, Haruno, so keep that anger down," he drawled.
"Where the fuck did you get a tutor? You were dead last!" Sakura screeched, Naruto rubbing at his ear with a growl, Sasuke shaking his head to try to clear the ringing from his own ears.
Naruto sighed and rubbed at his ears once more. "As long as you stop screeching in my ears. I have some sensitive hearing as it is," he grumped, rubbing the tip of his finger in his ear, just massaging the inside of it with a sigh. "Look, Iruka-sensei got me my tutor. I really don't know the details of the way he got me a tutor, but about a month before graduation Sparrow-san popped up and started to fix all of the bullshit that I learned and didn't learn during my time in the academy," he said, shrugging one shoulder.
"Sparrow? I thought he had retired," Sasuke hummed, Naruto shaking his head. "What?" he asked, narrowing black eyes at the blond haired man.
"The last Sparrow retired right around the time of your clan's massacre, nearly 5 years ago," Naruto admitted softly. "From what I was told, he decided that it was time for him to stop being Sparrow and the new Sparrow changed masks," he hummed, rubbing at his head as he worked to keep his face straight. He knew the full story of the original Sparrow and why he had left, but he wasn't allowed to tell the two before him that.
"So he just popped up and started to train you?" Sakura asked, raising an eyebrow at him, disbelieving.
"Look, from what I know, you have to be sponsored by someone with some authority in your life. Then they have to talk to someone, and if they are given the go ahead, they tell the person why they want the tutor for the student and fill out the paperwork," Naruto said, scratching the side of his head with the back of his pen. "Then the person figures out the free ANBU, shows them the paperwork and shit, and lets them decide if they want to take on the student. Once there is someone who says yes, the person is taught until the ANBU either thinks that the student is a loss or has been taught all that he can teach. After that it's up to the student to find new teachers and allies to continue their training if they so wish. This usually ends around chunnin or later depending on the ANBU and their teacher."
"I see." Sighing quietly, Sasuke sat next to him and rubbed at the side of his head with the back of his fingers as he relaxed, pulling out a sealing scroll with some food sealed onto it. He had taken the advice of his younger teammate and brought extra food with him, just in case, which was turning out to be a good idea, Sakura's stomach growling softly and making her blush as she dug out a ration bar from her pockets.
Sighing, Sasuke ignored her and unsealed some of the fruit that he had tucked away before putting the scroll away and thinking about what he had seen before graduating from the academy. He had followed after Naruto one day after class had let out, curious why the blond was starting to change and had found him meeting up with the now confirmed new Sparrow. The two had sat down and talked about the duties of clans and their heads, including why they were always so important to their village. It had made him think about the duties that he had kept pushing aside again and again and again.
In the long run, he had settled down to start learning all about what he would need to know when it came time for him to take the full position as head of his clan, no matter the fact that there was only four of them left, and two weren't even shinobi, but rather civilians who lived in an allied village with their partners. He still had people who were under Uchiha name, as he had found out. With the help of the overworked adviser, he had found three others to help the man and gotten most of his stuff straightened out for the most part.
But still, how did such an idiot like Naruto get a tutor of such high caliber? He was an idiot at the best of times, an absolute moron at the worst. Sasuke eyed the younger male as he continued to write, face blank and eyes thoughtful as he wrote, ignoring Sakura easily when she tried to shuffle closer to him. Even with a sponsor, he was a waste of time.
Wrinkling his nose, he wondered just what he had to do to get such a tutor. He could use it to get his revenge on the bastard who had damn near wiped out their clan. Growling, he clenched his hand before releasing it, looking down to the apple core, surprised that he had eaten it all without noticing it. Shaking his head with a sigh, he went back to staring at Naruto, mind whirling with why he hadn't been given the chance to have a private tutor, making a note to ask Kakashi about how one went about getting one.
He wouldn't allow the blond idiot get what he so rightfully deserved. Sasuke shook his head with a sigh and laced his fingers together, resting his chin on it, closing his eyes to think about what he was going to do. He would do it, he would have a tutor.
And then he would have the power to kill his brother once and for all.
