Crystal: Welcome Back! Sorry for the delays of updates. Tiamat had some trouble writing the court scene-
Leo: Didn't help that she was freaking out about her almost jury summons
Sera: *snerk* Wow…
Crystal: Life happens and adulting sucks. Now if you'll excuse me, there's a ball pit, comics, and a huge bowl of ice cream with my name on it!
Tempa: Aren't we going to explain some of the bits in this chapter, like the references?
Timothy: Stay whelmed Tempa; as soon as Tiamat comes back after the chapter, then we'll explain.
Foxa: Enjoy and review!

Chapter 11
Danny had landed face first when he was flung into the portal. Groaning, he pushed himself up, glancing around. Light grey walls, light lavender tiled floor, and those Greek columns for decoration. Jorgen appeared with Cosmo, Timmy, and Wanda in hand as Danny pulled himself from the floor. Releasing his 'passengers', Jorgen turns away and marches out of the room, not before the halfa spotted a teal teddie stuck to the back of the Austrian fairy's head.
"Wha- where are we?" Danny questioned.
"The Fairy World Court." Timmy explained. "Huh, haven't been here in quite some time…"
Danny looked inquisitively at Timmy. "You've been here before?"
"Yes, several times in fact." Wanda said, having a indiscernible look on her face as she and Cosmo flittered to the boys.
"Hehe, um… that's a long story. Not worth sharing."
Before Danny could ask about it, they were approached by several fairies in suits, what looked to be the judge, and two fairies who were hidden in cloaks (one in silver and the other in magenta). All that was seen were their glowing eyes. One fairy, dressed in a tweed suit, addressed the fairy couple.
"Cosmo Julius Cosma and Wanda Venus Fairywinkle-Cosma. You have been summoned on the account of the concerns about the safety of your biological son, Daniel and the potential threat to the clandestine of FairyWorld. It has been requested that there be a hearing to determine the prudence of allowing one with a status and repute like Daniel to remain in his current place of residence verses the risk of exposure."
"What?" Was Timmy's response.
"He means they-" Wanda pointed at the cluster of fairies "-are worried about Danny's safety in the human realm and are concerned as to whether the secrecy of fairies is in jeopardy."
"Um, but he's a superhero." Timmy said in a matter of fact tone.
"A child as well, need I remind everyone." Mama Cosma fluttered through the crowd, a look of seriousness on her face. "A child of the enchanted heritage who lives in the house of people who hunt creatures that are magical like us."
"Mother, you know very well that 1) the Fentons won't hurt Danny; he's their family," Cosmo spoke up, "and 2) they are trying to protect their home from the bad ghosts."
"Regardless, it would help assuage the situation if everyone here cooperates." The fairy in the tweed suit interjected. "If you all would please come this way."
…
The courtroom would have put every tv sitcom relating to criminal investigation and law enforcement to shame. Different parties yelling at each other, chairs flying, cops coming in to restrain one of the jurors. At one point, a badger was summoned and flung at a lawyer. Talk about badgering, literally. And of course one cannot forget the... Oh, who was he trying to kid? Danny had never felt more bored in his life.
One would think that a jury would be interesting when done by fairies. At least throw in an emu or something. Nope! And they haven't even gotten to the actual issue that had brought them there in the first place! They were still mostly going over how Danny was separated from his parents, where was he for all this time, what led to them finding him… He kinda envied Timmy. As soon as the spokesman started speaking, the small boy lost consciousness faster than his dad could scarf down fudge. Danny was not so lucky, since he was expected to participate somewhat, answering questions and the like.
He did pick up some things as he tried to follow what was discussed. Like his name for example: his name, before he lived with the Fentons, was Daniel Mercury Cosma (now it was Daniel James Fenton). There was also this tidbit of information that came up:
"He lives in a home of scientists who invent devices that can track and harm ghosts on a daily basis. And didn't he himself say he's half ghost? What if someone pieces together his identity? And what's to stop them from finding out about the rest of the magical community?"
"You all know how the veil works. While the inhabitants of the city Amity Park have gained the ability to actually somewhat see and recognize the ghosts that invade, it still is working on them. As for Daniel's identity, it is easily hidden. His energy projects the same barriers that shield other creatures, thus keeping humans from uncovering his identity."
"What Wandstaff says is correct. The mist, as Daniel is a child of fairykind due to his heritage and the power he has gained, works to shield him just as it would a dragon."
"Speaking of dragons, are we all certain that he's half ghost? Just because he can change into a spectral being doesn't mean that he is one. Or half of one. A dragon can change into a human, and it's transformation is thorough enough to fool humans and even other dragons."
"Eh, probably just semantics. I don't blame them, half ghost sounds cooler than-"
"That will be a matter looked into another time." Interrupted the Judge.
'Veil? Mist? Sounds important, especially if it comes to my alter ego. I'll ask about it later.' Danny mused.
Time seemed to be crawling so slowly, he wondered if Clockwork was deliberately trying to make him miserable. It reminded Danny of a time when his family was stuck in traffic for hours inside the GAV. To pass the time, he decided to count how many licks it took to reach the center of a Tootsie roll pop. You know, like those commercials. He repeated his study several times (because he lost track at one point or another) and came to the conclusion: it took him about 257 licks before the center was accessible... and he would now forever hate tootsie rolls. Also that he'll very likely hate New York or any other huge city that had horrendous traffic. 'When will this end? It must have been at least five hours.' Sneaking a peek at the wall clock, he was horrified to learn that only twenty minutes had passed. 'I knew it. Clockwork is messing with me.'
Eventually, to his relief, a break was called and he now had the chance to stretch his legs. Now walking down the hall of the courthouse, Danny came up to a window that looked over Fairy World, the colorful landscape (cloudscape?) still somewhat foreign to him. It still felt surreal to him of what his past life was.
"You know," a voice broke him out of his musings, "when I said we should meet up, I didn't mean in the Fairy World Courts."
"Zeke?" Danny faced the fairy teen, who was grinning like he just pranked his entire school and got away with it. He was dressed in ripped jeans tucked into black boots with blue laces, a t-shirt with the Batman logo coupled with a dark blue button up shirt (unbuttoned), black fingerless gloves, and a backwards blue and grey baseball cap with a crown image on top a head of messy sky hair. Silver eyes gleamed with mischief.
"So are we looking at a look similar to 'Fun Danny' from the episode 'Identity Crisis'?"
Huh, I guess so.
"Your first criminal arrest and trial; I'm so proud of you!" He made a dramatic sniff, followed by him wiping away imaginary tears.
Danny scoffed. "You're a riot. What are you doing here?"
Zeke shrugged. "My parents are part of the fairy counsel and were required to attend your 'criminal hearing'. They dragged me along so I would be scared straight into being an 'outstanding citizen'."
"Dude, I think it's too late for you. Everything about you screams criminal."Danny smirked, causing the fairy to gasp in shock then bend over in laughter.
"HA! So says InvisoBill: wanted for theft and kidnapping of the mayor."
"UGH! I really hate that name. And it wasn't my fault! I was framed by an enemy with the mayor incident and mind controlled into doing the robberies!" Danny defended.
"I heard you're wanted by the government."
Danny rolled his eyes. "You mean the morons in white suits? They just want to shoot me because I exist. If anything, they're the real threat to people on how careless they act."
Zeke made a look of pretend disbelief. "Uh Huh. The classic 'The FEDs are the real bad guys' story. It seems to me that you like to find trouble."
"More like trouble finds me."
"More like it stalks you like some crazed lover."
Danny's face crinkled in mock disgust at the analogy. "Please, no. That analogy is gonna give me nightmares."
"I know! The honeymoon will only end in disaster."
"Probably better than trouble and you getting together. I shudder to think of the kids that would come..."
"Ouch, right in the heart. You wound me!"
"They'd probably inherit your looks and brains. The horror..."
"You're dead to me." Zeke jabbed a finger at Danny.
"I literally hear that everyday. That saying has no effect on me."
Both boys stare off at each other with glares, Zeke still pointing while Danny stood tall with his arms crossed. The serious looks quickly evaporate into bouts of laughter. The mock argument they just had was weird, but in a familiar sense. One that you would have with a close friend. That was at least how Danny felt it was like, similar to his friendship with Tucker. They both enjoyed talking about utter nonsense and doing stupid things together. Sam also, but to a lesser extent.
Ambling over to a nearby waiting area, Zeke plopped down onto one of the chairs, resting his feet on the table. "Man, I missed this! We used to be tight when we were kids. You'd get us into so much trouble." Danny rose an eyebrow at this comment. "Like this one one time at the museum, when we were looking at the ancient Egyptian idols-" Danny's eyes widen as a memory came to him. "- and you swapped the heads-"
"Actually, you're the one who did the swapping. You thought it would of been a great idea to put the hippo on the crocodile, and the crocodile-"
"-on the falcon." Both finished, smiling at each other. Just then, an elderly looking fairy floated by. He paused to look at Zeke, who still had his feet on the table. "I happen to know your parents raised you better than this."
"You mean 'sit up straight, soup before salad, and pinkies up'?" He said in a posh accent, even going so far as to hold up a make believe tea cup (pinkie raised).
"Zeke..." his feet are removed from the table. "Thank you. I expect better from the son of Gelinda and Hexus Mystos."
"Okay Wheelie."
The older fairy huffed in annoyed amusement, flying off to a office down the hall. Danny gave Zeke a questioning look. "Wheelie?"
Zeke smirked. "The 'been around since the invention of the wheel' generation. That's not important. Let's address the fact that you actually remembered what happened at the museum. Have you got all your memories back?"
"No. I've only gotten a tidbit memories here or there, like just now." Timmy, having woken up from the boredom-induced nap, came trotting up to Danny and Zeke. "Hey Bud, had a good nap?"
Timmy huffed. "Not my fault that one fairy was worse than a teacher's droning."
"They don't call Jonas 'The Snooze Button' for nothing. In fact, he was once the sandman before Harvey and a teacher before that." Zeke chuckled. "He has experience in putting people to sleep."
"Wanda said they're starting up again, we need to get back."
The three boys walked back to the court room, when they once again encountered the buff Jorgen Von Strange. The surly fairy glowered at the youth as he passed, grumbling about how the glitter still won't come off. As they entered the room, a wisp of blue mist escaped from Danny's mouth.
"Oh no…"
~~~Line Break~~~
"How much longer?"
Sam, piloting the Specter Speeder, drummed her fingers on the steering wheel. Tucker, when they had last gone to 'rescue' Danny, had saved the coordinates and was now giving directions.
"By my calculations, we should-"
A puff of mist appearing in the Speeder interrupted the techno geek. The mist dissipates, leaving behind Timmy, his fairy godparents and Zeke, who all looked quite ruffed up.
Jazz looked inquisitively at the teenage fairy. "Who's that?"
"No TIME!" Timmy stated to wave his arms frantically. "Danny's been kidnapped by the metal ghost guy!"
The three teens look at each other in concern before returning their attention to the newcomers. "Metal ghost guy?"
"Said something about being the ghost zone's greatest hunter-"
Jazz gasped. "That's Ghost X-"
"Skulker." Tucker corrected, much to the redhead's annoyance. "He's been hunting Danny forever. Been wanting to mount his pelt on the mantle or something…"
"WHAT!?" Cried Wanda, looking quite fearful. Cosmo looked equally concerned as well.
"No time to chat, we need to get to the Ghost Zone NOW!" Sam jerked the steering furiously, making the ship bank whip around sharply. "That's where Skulker's lair is and he's likely taking Danny there."
"Why not wish Danny-"
"We tried that already. He's probably in his human form, so our magic can't bring him back." Wanda explained, ready to fall apart from distress.
"But we do know where they will be. Cosmo, Wanda; I wish we were at Skulker's lair in the Ghost Zone."
…
On course to Skulker's island, Ghost Zone
"Struggle all you want Whelp, those restraints are made to hold you in either form." Skulker bragged to the squirming teen that was slung over his shoulder. Said teen was mad. 'That was such a cheep shot!'
As soon as Danny's ghost sense had gone off, a smoke grenade was thrown into the room, filling it with smoke. Using the cover of the smoke screen, Skulker had launched nets at the bystanders in their room before assaulting the ghost teen. At first, the fight was largely in Danny's favor. That was until Skulker feigned an attack on Timmy. Since Danny was distracted with getting Timmy out of harms way, he couldn't dodge the paralyzing darts or the electrified ghost bolas. As soon as Danny was restrained, Skulker grabbed the teen and swiftly took off.
With his ability to move his limbs returned and not waiting around for Skulker to skin him, Danny pulled out a multi-tool pocket knife (Fenton standard, obviously) and began to discreetly cut the ropes that bound him. Skulker had just touched down at the edge of his lair when the Specter Speeder magically appeared in front of him. Not wasting any time, Tucker and Sam leapt out of the waiting ship and fired their weapons at the mechanical ghost. Being taken by surprise, Skulker was blasted away, causing him to drop Danny. The two friends, accompanied by Timmy and the fairies, sprinted to Danny.
Just as they reached the trapped teen, Skulker then flew back towards the group, a sinister smile on his metallic face. "Not only do I get the Halfa's pelt, but I get to hunt fairies? This keeps getting better and better. Can't be any easier…" several guns pop out of his suit.
At this remark, Cosmo flew in front of the group, a scowl on his face and his wand flashing. "You want firepower? I'll give you FIREPOWER!" In a sudden flash of light, Cosmo's now in a tank, the massive turret and miss le launchers now aimed at Skulker.
If possible, Skulker paled at the sight of the tank. "Uh oh…"
BANG!
BZZZZZ!
PEW!
KABOOOOOM!
The rest of the rescue team and Danny gaped as the male fairy continued his onslaught. Shaking herself out of the shock, Wanda turned her attention on her son, who was still bound. She noticed the pocket knife and that the bindings were majorly cut. Waving her wand over the bound teen, she used her magic to free him.
Now free, Danny stood up and stretched his limbs, then smiled at Wanda. "Thanks… Mom."
Wanda smiled back. "You're welcome sweetie."
Danny, now shifting to Phantom, turned his attention to Cosmo in the tank. "Should I be concerned?"
"Very likely you should," said Zeke, wrapping his arm around the ghostly teen's shoulders.
"Zeke? What are you doing here?"
"Duh, rescue mission. I'm not standing around and not do anything to help!"
"Your parents let you come?"
"Nope!" Came the cheerful reply, with the 'p' being popped. "Quite the opposite actually…"
Skulker, now out of his suit, came crashing down in front of the group with a plop. The little blob glared at every body. "DON'T think this is over WHELP! I will win the hunt and your pelt will be mine!"
*Snerk*
"HAHAHAHA!" The fairies, Timmy, and Jazz (who was still in the speeder and hadn't seen Skulker out of his suit before) bursted out laughing, much to the ghost's chagrin.
….
After Danny had frozen Skulker to a nearby tree, the group pilled into the Specter Speeder and drove off a bit before parking and chatting a bit. Timmy was quite interested in the weirdness of the Ghost Zone and Sam and Tuck got along with Zeke better than The Ghost Writer with a book of poems (Sam liked his 'rebellious' streak and Tucker liked his easygoing nature). Wanda was busy fussing over Danny, much to his embarrassment.
"So this is what your ghost form looks like…" Zeke mused, now getting a good look at Danny, who was floating next to him. "Not much different than how you normally look. Just a suit and pallet change, a echoey voice, and the classic bright aura." Zeke then began snickering. "HA! barely any changes to your appearance and humans will never figure it out! BWAHAHAHAHA! Too funny! Gotta love how the veil works."
The normal teens watch the fairy teen break down in laughter, feeling somewhat confused. Danny was just about to ask what did Zeke mean by 'the veil' when Wanda remembered about a certain summons that they needed to return to. With a couple of groans and batting away the suggestions of just ditching, a portal was then conjured. With a path now set, the Specter Speeder flew through the portal, which closed up behind it. The Speeder was now hovering in the fairy courtroom in the slew of frantic fairies and one distraught Mama Cosma. Jazz and Danny's two friends remained in the Speeder while the others piled out.
It took some explaining, but the fairies were eventually calmed down. Zeke joyfully regaled them of the rescue mission, until he was pulled aside by his parents (very likely a scolding). Mama Cosma, who was still frazzled by the sudden attack, started ranting about safety and 'what if's. An argument soon broke out, with Sam eventually jumping out of the Specter Speeder to deliver some 'hard truths', much to the shock of the fairies there. Fortunately, the conflict seemed to be on the 'Let Danny stay with the Fentons' side, with Danny to seal the deal by saying:
"My mom once fought off a hoard of mutant ghostly animals when she and I were stuck in the middle of nowhere, without a phone to call for help, and me not being able to use my powers. Dad fought off my archenemy armed with nothing but a pair of ghost gloves, and he won. My two best friends-" Danny jabbed a thumb where Sam stood with Tucker and Jazz, who had just exited the Speeder, "-were there for me since day one of when I got my powers. They, along with Jazz, have saved my butt more times I can count. No matter what. My friends and family will always have my back."
With a few statements from Danny's friends and sister, the argument was settled; even Mama Cosma was soften by the loyalty that was expressed between the teens ("Wooo! In your face bureaucracy!" Came the cheer of Zeke in the background). With the debate of the human teens quickly finished (humans weren't supposed to know about the existence of fairies, but Danny's team was an exception. Team Phantom kept their memories and would be granted a special citizenship, or access, to FairyWorld. This would take some time to process), Team Phantom and Timmy with his Fairies were excused to go home. Zeke had tagged along as well, managing to sneak away from his parents once again.
….
FLASHBACK SEQUENCE
"I'm telling you Jack," a younger Maddie Fenton conversed with their husband as they clambered into the GAV. They had been searching the park for ghosts for quite some time and had no success, "we'll probably have more luck finding a ghost if we- What is THAT?!"
Leaning forward to get a better look through the windshield, the couple caught a glimpse of the large object before it crashed in the far side of the park. Jack and Maddie both exchange a look before buckling up and racing the GAV to the scene of the crash. Of all the times Maddie was glad that her husband drove the way he did, it was that night.
Nothing could prepare them for the shock of seeing a smoking spaceship crashed into a tree, a trail of parts scattered in its wake. The ghost-scientists slowly crept up to the ship. Using the heat vision setting on their googles, Jack and Maddie could discern a small body of heat inside the ship.
"Madds… I don't think that's a ghost…"
"You don't suppose-"
A soft groan broke the couple from their debate, eliminating any further hesitation.
"Jack, we should open it up."
The large man placed a foot to brace himself against the ship and grabbed the edge of the somewhat broken door. With a few tries and some grunting, Jack managed to rip the door open. Light poured into the interior, illuminating the lone occupant of the vessel; a small boy. Both Fentons froze as they looked at the child. Looking about 5 years old, he was on the small side. Dressed in a green Tee shirt, blue shorts, black/white sneakers. It was then the couple noticed the gash on the side of his head, slowly bleeding; probably from the crash. Maddie climbed in to get closer, pulling off her hood and googles. The child, who was fighting off drowsiness, looked up to gaze into her eyes questioningly, causing the woman to freeze. Heather eyes met light, crystal blue framed by his midnight black bangs. 'The most stunning blue I had ever seen' Maddie's heart fluttered.
"…Mom…" the little boy uttered, before losing the fight for consciousness.
"Activate 'Mother' mode. BEEP!"
Snapping out of her reverie, Maddie released the boy from his restraints, then carried him out. The sound of sirens approaching echoed in the background.
"It's a boy…" her husband breathed, a large, gloved hand brushed away the hair in the child's face to get a look at the gash. "It doesn't look too bad." Pulling out a handkerchief from a pocket in his jumpsuit, he pressed the handkerchief to the wound to stem the bleeding.
Maddie could feel the boy's steady, warm breathing. "Jack: what's a child doing in a spaceship-pod-'I don't know what to call it'!" She asked, 'frantic mother' mode now fully activated.
"You don't suppose he's an alien? Like Superman!"
"Jack, I don't think this little guy's an alien."
"He did just crash in a spaceship-thingie." The large man said, pointedly.
Maddie just hummed in acknowledgement, returning her attention to the child in her arms as they waited for the officials to appear.
Later
"He seems perfectly normal." Stated one doctor, looking over the test results that were done by both the hospital and the Fentons. Jack had left some time ago to pick up their seven-year-old daughter Jazz, who was at a playdate. Maddie had remained behind to keep an eye on the boy as he slept. When he woke up, the child was in a state of duress and remained so until Maddie cradled the child in her arms. To the hospital staff's dismay, the child couldn't remember who his family was or where he came from when asked. "Very likely from the crash." Said one doctor.
While the hospital treated the boy's wounds and for the concussion he had very likely gained, the police and a few government officials had began an investigation of where the child's family might be. The official who lead the investigation, one Mr. Bubbles from Child and Family Services, was unable to procure any leads on the child's family. The only evidence on an identity was a star necklace pendant with the name 'Danny'.
Maddie turned to look at Danny. He was sitting on the large armchair, doodling on the papers with the crayons Nurse Freeman had gave him. Danny was humming to himself, completely focused on his latest project. Maddie walked up to the boy.
"Hey sweetie, what are you drawing there?"
"A spaceship." Came the answer.
Maddie blinked, somewhat surprised by the answer. "Oh, why's that?"
The boy looked up, giving her a look. "Because spaceships are cool." He said in a tone, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
Maddie chuckled. "Yeah, I guess they are. Does this mean you want to be an astronaut?"
"YES!" Danny gasped in excitement. "I want to go to different planets, see aliens, plant a flag on the moon…"
As Danny babbled on about how cool space was, pointing to different things on his picture, Maddie couldn't help but smile at the boy's antics. He was a sweet, endearing child who was polite and kind to those around him.
"Madds, I here with Jazzy!" Boomed Jack as he entered the room, with Jazz holding onto his hand. Jazz stared inquisitively at Danny, who had stopped showing off his picture in favor of looking at Jazz in the same level of curiosity. "Jazzerincess, this is Danny!"
"Hi, I'm Jazz. Nice to meet you." She said, extending a hand out.
Danny smiled shyly at the girl, accepting the handshake. "Nice to meet you."
"That's a nice spaceship you drew." Jazz commented, causing Danny to beam with pride.
Both parents, while they talked to the doctors and Mr. Bubbles, fondly watched the two kids chat and laugh about silly things. There was still the matter of who would take care of Danny. Well, a matter to the doctors at least. As soon as she heard that no family was found, Maddie made up her mind that she and Jack should take in the child. Since they couldn't find Danny's mom and dad, they'll be his mom and dad.
"Alright kids, it's time we head home." Jack said as soon as they finished the paperwork.
"What about Danny?" Jazz asked in concern, clinging to Danny as they sat in the chair. Danny also looked worried, not wanting to be left alone. As far as he knew, he had no home to go to.
"Don't worry kiddo, he's coming with us!" Jack beamed at the kids.
"Really?" Danny asked hopefully.
"Of course sweetie! After all, you're a part of our family now." Maddie explained, scooping up the little boy as Jack lifted Jazz up. Her baby boy.
"That's right, you're a Fenton now!" Boomed the father, tasseling Danny's hair with one hand while he held Jazz with his other arm.
"Yay, I got a brother now!"
Danny smiled, contenting himself with nuzzling into his new mom's arms. The Fenton, now numbering four, made their way to the family RV.
"Let's go pick up some celebratory fudge, and on the way, I can blather on about ghosts!"
END OF FLASHBACK SEQUENCE
"Madds, you okay sweetiecheeks?"
"Hmm?" Maddie hummed, pulled out her thoughts. "Yes Jack. Just thinking, that's all…"
"About ghosts?"
"No. Actually, I was thinking about Danny. We just passed the park where we found him."
Jack nodded, glancing at his wife before returning his attention to the road. "Yep, hard to imagine that was ten years ago. Our Danno's really grown. No matter what, he'll be a part of this family: a Fenton through and through!"
The GAV pulled up to the driveway of their home. Both Fenton parents came up the steps of the house, carrying several bags.
"Hi kids, we're back from the store! How's your day?" Called Maddie as she and Jack entered FentonWorks. She saw in the living room the Cosmas, Timmy, Sam, Tucker, a teen she had never seen before, and Jazz and Danny. Her two sweet babies.
"Cosmas! Welcome back to FentonWorks. We just got fudge!" Tailed her husband as he trotted off to the kitchen with the bags.
"Who's your new friend?" Asked Maddie, returning from the kitchen.
"Zeke Mystos, at your service!" Declared the disguised fairy teenager, standing up for a mock bow. "My family and Danny's go waaaaay back." He added, winking at the others discreetly.
"Nice to meet a friend of our Dannyboy!" Boomed the Fenton patriarch as he enthusiastically shook hands with the fairy teen.
"Those two were thick as thieves when they were little," Wanda shot up to chat with Maddie, "and got into all sorts of trouble."
"Well, what would you expect? After all, Danny would get us-"
"Hold it!" Danny interrupted Zeke. "I'm not letting you tell any stories. You apparently had the tendency to embellish."
"You make it sound like it's a bad thing."
"You tried to convince me that it was my idea-"
"How was I supposed to know that you would actually remember!"
…
Vlad's place; where Vlad does evil things, obviously.
"Are you certain Skulker?"
"I'm positive," said the diminutive blob standing on the edge of the desk. "The small boy that's been spending time with the Whelp had Fairies with him. They must be fairy godparents."
"You mean like children's stories?" Asked a skeptical Vlad Masters.
"Those old tales and legends have elements of truth," Fright Knight supplied.
"Well that certainly narrows down part of our search when the other schools visit later this week…"
~~~Line Break~~~
"MAN-OH! This is gonna be so COOL!" Chester declared as the students of Dimmsdale Elementary piled into the waiting buses.
Standing next to Chester waiting in line, AJ was fiddling with a device in his hands. "You can say that again; we're going to see the new layout of Axion Labs. They're developing a new line of satellites-"
"Who cares about some dusty lab? We're headed to the hometown of the superhero Danny Phantom!" Sanjay called out.
"And Timmy gets to see his cool older godbrother." Timmy nodded happily at the comment, sparing a glance at a pair of birds (pink and green) before climbing into the bus.
"I still think Danny and Phantom could be the same…" muttered Chester to himself as he plopped down on a seat next to Timmy.
"Aw yeah! Fellow earth kids, let's do this trip of fields!" Mark Chang (human kid disguise) yelled out, plopping down in the row across from Timmy. After all the students, chaperones, and teachers settled into seats, Mr Crocker stepped up front of the bus.
"Alright children. We're just about to disembark for Amity Park. This town is rumored to be infested with ghosts, and as everybody knows that there would only be ghosts because of FAIRY GODPARENTS! Since you all have been on plenty of field trips, you should know how this works: Stay with your assigned partners, no trying to feed first-graders to the local wildlife-," Francis let's out a growl of disappointment, "-no yodeling, no doing things that would kill you, pay attention 'cause there will be classwork to complete,-" groans from the students, "-and if you see any FAIRIES, report them to me for extra credit."
"What a loon…" someone muttered as Crocker wrapped his little safety speech up.
'I wonder what Danny's up to…' Thought Timmy as the procession of buses pulled out of the school parking lot.
…
"BEWARE! I AM THE BOX GHOST! With these glorious cubed cardboard containers, I will strike fear in the hearts of-"
"This is the twelfth time this week!" Danny grumbled, interrupting the Box Ghost's rant by sucking him into the Thermos. "Don't you ever learn?!"
Exasperated, Danny flew towards the high school, ducking behind some bushes to revert back. He caught up with Sam and Tucker as he jogged inside.
"Who was-"
"Box Ghost"
The students of Casper high gathered in the gymnasium, taking up seats on the bleachers. Danny was seated with his friends on either side of him at the base.
"So how did your talk with Clockwork go? Did you get some answers on how being half ghost works or 'the mist'?"
"Actually, I did; though it's kinda hard to explain. Clockwork did much better than I can..."
Last Night
"Yes Daniel, I can explain what the mist is and concerning your status as a half ghost."
Danny blinked. He had barely just thought of the question. Danny liked to visit Clockwock on occasion, to keep the Master of Time company. That was the main purpose of him being there, but then remembered those questions from earlier in the week.
"I'm the Master of Time, remember?" Clockwork teased lightly, anticipating the halfa's next question.
Danny rolled his eyes in amusement. "Know-it-all…"
Clockwork chuckled, shifting from child to old man. "First off: Know that many creatures and beings of mythical origins exist in the world. The terms 'Veil' and 'Mist' both apply to the phenomenon that blinds mankind to the magical realm. The mist shields mystical beings from being perceived by humans. A satyr, for example, may appear to a person as a goat or, if they desire it, as a fellow human. That manipulation of perception can even affect what photos and other types of recordings portray.
"In modern times, people tend to dismiss traditions, beliefs, and logic from their predecessors in favor of scientific reasoning. Not that there's anything wrong with seeking out logic. However, the majority of humanity has chosen to ignore simple truth in favor of complex scientific riddles and theories. Disbelief greatly adds to the barriers that shield magical creatures. Generally, humans have the natural tendency of aversion to the supernatural and magic; Especially in this day and age.
"Why do you suppose it took so long for your town to recognize that ghosts were actually present. That would be the mist. Yes, spectral beings also have those kinds of barriers. When you first started out, no one really recognized the ghosts that plagued the town. The Lunch lady and your first fight? The people couldn't see it for what it was. It was some trick of the weather or something. Johnny 13 when he first started dating your sister: Jasmine wasn't able to see Johnny for what he was. It wasn't until Walker's invasion of the town, after constant exposure to the presence of ghosts, that the populace started to recognize what was going on.
"While the citizens of Amity Park can now perceive ghosts somewhat, they are still under the effects of the mist. These barriers work for you as well. Your ghost powers radiate the same barriers to shield your identity of your different forms. People cannot help but see Fenton and Phantom as two, completely different beings. And it certainly helps that a human cannot be a ghost at the same time. You would literally have to change right in front of a person in order to convince them otherwise, and even then it might not work is the person disbelieves so much.
"There are certain times or people that the veil is either thin or completely absent. Your friends and family, because of their constant exposure, have gained some varying levels of immunity to the effects of the mist. Samantha and Tucker, while they did not enter the portal with you, they were exposed to generous amounts of energy. With the addition of their open minds and hearts, they were able to recognize you when you came out transformed. For them, the veil is almost nonexistent. Your parents, because of their beliefs, can see a little; but not much. Their stubbornness cripples them just as much as it enables them."
"So to summarize: the mist keeps people from seeing magical creatures. If there is disbelief, it makes the mist -or the veil- stronger on that person."
"That is one way to put it."
"And what about being half ghost?" Danny asked tentatively.
"No, you're not half-dead or whatever nonsense your friend Tucker has been saying. When it comes to genetics and all that, you actually more classify as a metahuman, since the accident in the lab has changed you somewhat. There are many different types of 'Ghosts', or beings that are spectral in nature like wraiths, poltergeists. You may not think there's a difference, but there is. The inhabitants of the infinite realms are not those who are deceased. The deceased have their own realms. We are simply a race that dwell in the world between worlds (hence why it was called the infinite realms; because it connected your world to many others).
"Now back to you. When you activated the portal, your body was infused with the energies of the ghost zone itself. That power/energy charged your cells and bound itself to you, thus giving you your powers and your second form. The lifeblood of the infinite realms and all its inhabitants now flow through you. Because of that, you are a child of the infinite realms. The actual child of the ghost zone. Because of this and you being human, you have dual citizenship of both worlds. This is why you're called a halfa, because you are of both worlds."
Danny's response to this:
"Ow, I think my head just blew something…"
Present Time
Soon enough, the visiting Dimmsdale elementary school filed in. Danny spotted Timmy almost immediately, the little boy waving his arms frantically to get his attention. Waving back, Danny watched as Ishiyama and some of the teachers (including Lancer) were having a discussion with the visiting school's staff, including Timmy's teacher Mr. Crocker.
"Oh yeah, he definitely looks like the crazy type." Tucker commented after Danny pointed the man out.
"The man very likely has some mental health problems that need to be sorted," Jazz, being seated behind Danny, muttered mostly to herself. Before anything else could be said, Ishiyama stepped up to the podium.
"Students of Casper High and Dimmsdale Elementary, may I have your attention please!" The room becomes quiet (well, quiet enough considering it's filled with kids) "First off, I would like to welcome our guests. As you all know…" She went on for a couple minutes before explaining how the project will work and what was expected from the students. When it came to how they were assigning groups, hushed conversation began to trickle in.
"What are the odds of Danny and Timmy getting paired together." Sam mused to herself.
"Oh, it's definitely gonna happen," Danny stated.
Tucker shot the halfa a curious look. "Dude, how can you be so sure? The odds-"
"You're forgetting whom you're talking about." With this said, Danny subtly gestured to where Timmy was seated. Giving his surroundings a quick inspection, the boy whispers into his backpack while pretending to be searching inside it. A soft glow briefly emanates from the inside of the pack before completely dissipating. Team Phantom exchange knowing smiles.
…..
"Paulina Sanchez, you are to work with Trixie Tang."
"It's like having mini 'you and me's Star!" Paulina squealed to her bestie when they found their partners, the popular girls of Dimmsdale. Everyone had been given name tags to help the students find their partners.
Kwan and Dale were paired up with Chad and Tad.
Valerie ended up with Francis.
Dash Baxter with Remy Buxaplenty.
"Uh oh, Remy Buxaplenty?"
Paige, a girl from Danny's home EC, was paired with Sanjay.
Nathan with Tootie.
"Danny Fenton, you're paired up with Timmy Turn-"
The sentence wasn't finished before Timmy dashed across the gym, crashing into Danny.
"Danny! We get to work together for the school project! How cool's that?! Well, school sucks. But-"
"Hey! Someone's a little excitable today," Danny laughed as he and the smaller boy moved off to the side, Timmy excitedly babbling to the teen. Danny's peers watched with interest as Danny chatted back with the younger boy and greeted a good majority of the Elementary students.
"How cool is that: Timmy got paired up with his cool godbrother." Trixie said to Veronica.
Veronica pouted in a playful manner. "Hmph, lucky. He get's to partner with someone he already knows…"
This got Paulina, Star, and several other students' attention. "Godbrother?" Star asked, watching the (loser?) talking with the small, pink capped boy.
"Yeah. Timmy and Danny are godbrothers. We met him last week at the mall." Trixie supplied as she filed her nails. "Danny's pretty cool, nice, funny…"
"Huh, Fenton's good with kids…" Paulina said with interest, she and Star watching the secret teen hero. Danny, unaware of the attention of his peers, had bent down to whisper something to Timmy. The small boy's face adopted a mischievous air as he responded to the teen. Danny looked surprised, then bursted out laughing, Timmy also chuckling.
Soon Danny and Timmy were joined by their friends. Timmy had explain to Danny how he wished for his friends and Danny's friends to be put together.
Sam got Chester.
Tucker got the disguised Mark Chang.
And Jazz got AJ.
"Dang, this must be a wish come true for you," AJ commented to Timmy.
Timmy chuckled nervously, "Hehe, yeah. Wish come true…" he glanced at the teens, who were smirking at the unintended slip up.

Outside Earth's Orbit
"Soon Mark, you'll regret crossing me…"

Almost entire team: Yep
Rocco: I think they're fine…
Dina: The mist?
If you have read either the 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' or 'Fablehaven' books, then you'll recognize the reference on how magical creatures stay hidden. It wasn't explained in the story, but for fairy godparents, the mist has to be reduced for them so they can interact with their godchild more effectively. If there are any questions about how this works, I'll try to write up an explanation.
Crystal: Don't be shy! Comment, review, ask! Have a good one!
