Haruka's stomach dropped when she saw the first drops of rain hitting her windshield. Her perfect day was about to be ruined, and she didn't have a plan b for it.

The blonde sighed and hit her forehead with the steering wheel in frustration. After weeks of trying to come up with the words to ask Michiru out on a date, she finally got a chance to take her classmate out on a date. She still felt embarrassed when she stumbled with her words, yet Michiru just smiled up at her. That gorgeous perfect honest smile washed all her doubts away.

Now, Haruka had all the doubts in the world. Why on Earth did she decide that their first date was going to be a picnic? Why?"

Haruka's exhale turned into a groan before she pushed herself up, straightened in her seat, and ran her fingers through her hair. "Alright. It is just one drop. It's not like it is pouring." The blonde told herself before looking up to the sky. "It's probably just one cloud. It will pass and we can continue on with our date. No biggie."

She looked at herself in the rearview mirror; her lips stretched into a big one-sided awkward smile. She looked miserable.

With a yielding sigh through her nose. Haruka turned her car off and got out; her steps were slow, worried. She wanted to make this day perfect. SHe wanted to take Michiru out on a picnic date; sit down on DRY lush grass with a checker red and white blanket. She even had a fucking basket, for goodness sake. She had stayed up all night making cupcakes and got up early to fetch some wine and fruits, so they were fresh for today…

She looked up at the sky. It was still clear except for a couple of grey-ish clouds.

"Please, don't..." She pivoted and went ahead until she was at Michiru's door. She inhaled deeply and knocked on the door. After a couple of seconds, she heard a cheery 'coming!' from the other side.

Ah, there they were. The butterfly in the stomach. The sudden tension on the back of her neck. The electricity at her fingertips. All of that went up ten-fold when Michiru opened the door.

"Hi!" Michiru giggled, her nose scrunching with delight.

Haruka exhaled and smiled back, her trembling hands in her pocket. "Hi."

"Let me get my purse and we can go!" Michiru said, leaving Haruka alone for a couple of minutes. To the blonde, it seemed like a lifetime. Then Michiru pooped out again, flinging the strap of her purse over her shoulder and closing the door behind her. "Alright! Lead the way."

"Right!" Haruka nodded, kept her hands in her pocket for safety measures, and began to escort Michiru back to her car. Of course, Haruka opened the door for her and ushered her in. She didn't want Michiru to hurt her head with her car. That thing was so low sometimes it was even hard for her to get out of. As soon as she closed the door, Haruka did that awkward run as if he was in a hurry. Although she was, she didn't want the rain to come, and if she could get to the park fast and eat up everything before it did, she was going to be eternally grateful to whatever deity was in charge of the rain.

She lipped inside the car, turned it on, and took a second-long glance towards Michiru. This girl looked so excited to just be out and about with her. Haruka couldn't help but smirk. She was the luckiest person in the world. Michiru Kaioh! The talented violinist, the most beautiful girl on the entire campus, had agreed to go out on a date with her. She had heard that Michiru rejected so many people before her. Haruka had even second-guessed herself. Why should she ask her out? She would probably say no.

Except she didn't, and now they were headed to the park to have a picnic.

Haruka exhaled through her nose again and gripped the steering wheel tighter.

"Thanks again for this. With midterms and all, it has been so hard for me to go out and have fun," Michiru was the first to break the silence, and Haruka was forever grateful.

"Of course! We both need to relax. That way we can do well in our midterms." Haruka nodded at her own words.

But Haruka wasn't relaxed; she was so nervous about screwing everything up. She almost missed the entrance to the park parking lot. Thankfully, Michiru was able to let her know she was about to miss it.

Once they were inside, Haruka wanted to carry everything. Michiru insisted on helping, so Haruka let her hold the blanket to Much of Michiru's annoyed glance. They settled underneath a large tree that overlooked a small pond. Michiru placed the blanket down while Haruka made sure to get the food and drinks down, placing them on the mantle as if wanting to impress Michiru with her awful cooking skills.

But by the way, Michiru smiled; Haruka guessed the gorgeous woman was impressed.

They talked about everything. Michiru told her about her art projects and her upcoming free on-campus concert; she told the blonde about her music director and how he was a pain in her ass. Haruka at first wanted to find him and beat him up in a dark alley, but then Michiru told her that he was just too strict, but she understood where he was coming from. She then told her about her living arrangement, of how she was living with a senior student named Setsuna, who was in her 5th year. She told Haruka of her art exposition next month and that she wanted Haruka to be there.

Haruka's chest was about to burst. She had been invited to Michiru Kaioh's art expo! Of course, she was going, and she also wasn't going to miss the concert. She hoped she could make it in time to sit pretty close to the stage and, therefore, Michiru.

As Michiru talked, they managed to eat almost all the cupcakes and downed half a bottle of wine. They also ate most of the fruits. The strawberries and blueberries were Michiru's favorite, and Haruka had to sneak her hand to take a couple before they were gone.

Now it was Haruka's turn to talk. She told Michiru that she was studying to become a mechanic, that she loved speed and was a part-time racer. She told her how she was living by herself and that sometimes she felt lonely.

She told her about her latest race and how she was seconds away from beating her record; she told her about the car she had been fixing last week. She shared pictures of some motorcycles she was working on as a side project and said that although she hadn't done it in a while, she could play the piano.

Michiru's eyes lit up when she said that, and Haruka thought that Michiru was the most beautiful girl she had ever laid eyes on.

And then, she felt it.

Haruka frowned as a cold drop touched her nose, then her forehead, her arms.

Oh no… The blonde looked up. The sky was dark! When did this happen!

She turned back to Michiru and saw her looking up at the sky as well. "Oh no!"

"We have to go!" Haruka cursed herself. She muttered something about how weather apps were shit, and they were never accurate.

Michiru began to put the leftovers inside the basket while Haruka rolled the blanket into a messy bundle and grabbed the basket. There was no way they could make it to the car without getting wet. Not to mention they were far away from the parking lot. The rain picked up, and Haruka could already feel herself getting drenched, her clothing sticking to her skin. She dipped her head to look at Michiru, who was already moving her wet strands of aqua hair away from her face.

"Let's head to the gazebo! We can wait it out!" Michiru suggested, grabbing Haruka by her wrist and leading her to the nearest gazebo.

Haruka just nodded and let herself be led. Her blonde hair was sticking to her forehead, almost covering her eyes. Thankfully Michiru made it to the gazebo and let out a happy sigh as soon as they found refuge from the freaking storm that came out of nowhere.

With a not-so-happy sigh, Haruka sat down on the ground and dropped the basket and blanket.

"What is it?" Michiru asked, probably noticing that the blonde's entire demeanor shifted.

"I am sorry. I wanted this to be perfect." Haruka blew water drops from her lips before pushing her wet hair from her face.

Michiru couldn't help but laugh as she sat down next to Haruka. Both women looked disheveled, Their hair a mess, their clothing clinging to each other. Haruka had trouble concentrating now that Michiru was so close to her. Her white blouse left very little to the imagination now that it was wet and clinging to her like a second skin. Michiru grabbed Haruka's hand and pulled her up. Haruka had no other choice but to follow the shorter woman.

Michiru led her out of the gazebo and back to the pouring rain. She lifted her head and looked up at the blonde, her smile perfect, happy - just what Haruka loved about her. "Listen to me," Michiru warned. "This was a good date."

Haruka's eyes lit up, and her shoulders fell as she released the tension in them. "Was it?"

Michiru nodded and wrapped her arms around Haruka's neck, rain sluicing down their bodies. "It isn't perfect, though."

Haruka tensed again. "Oh?"

"Not yet though." Michiru closed her eyes, pulled her down, and pressed their lips together in a slow but tender kiss.

Haruka almost purred with contentment, her eyes drifting shut, her arms wrapping around Michiru's waist, pulling her tighter. She could've sworn that being this close would allow Mcihiru to feel her heart beating in her chest.

Reluctantly, Michiru pulled away, her lips still rubbing against Haruka's. She grinned, and Haruka couldn't help but do the same.

"Now it is a perfect date."
