It didn't take very long after that for them to reach the Fuyuki Church. Thankfully, Emiya didn't try and take any pot shots. Probably because it would hardly do anything other than be a complete annoyance, but still.
Small graces and all that.
He gently set Olga down and the pair of them entered the church. As soon as he opened the doors and stepped in though Faeran was force to raise his hand and catch an object suddenly flying through the air at him.
It was a dismembered arm, dripping blood from where it had been cut off at the shoulder. Leading up from the back of the hand all the way up to the elbow as a series of red tattoo's.
Command Seals.
"Alright lad," Caster looked over his shoulder at them from where he sat one one of the back pews, "This is what you wanted to come here for right?"
"Disgusting," Olga wrinkled her nose, "What is wrong with you?"
"Caster!" Ritsuka scolded at the front of the church sitting at the altar, "What did you do that for?"
"Just having some fun and venting on the priest bastard, no need to get your panties in a twist Master," Cu laughed, "Tossing around the limbs of a guy who screwed you over is great stress relief, you should try it some time!"
Mash who was sitting beside Ritsuka sighed, "...I've never heard of anything like that before, is that also why you're using his body as a foot rest?" the pink haired girl asked.
"Got it in one girlie!" Cu gave her a flirtatious wink.
"...Ugh, I can't believe this old pervert is the only sane servant around," Olga groaned. The white haired woman turned to Faeran, "I don't know what I'd have done if it weren't for you being here. Truly, as absurd as you are you're my only bastion of sanity in this dreadful place."
"There there," Faeran replied absently. He was gratified to hear it, but be was more interested in the arm held within his grasp, "How many command seals are there on this?" he asked. They were a bit hard to count with them all conjoined together.
"By my count thirty two of them lad, quite the haul innit?" Cu replied, "That's some serious fire power just from their normal uses beyond what you want to do with em'."
"Aye." Faeran nodded. That was a hell a lot indeed. Way more than he thought he would get. Command Seals when used as Magic Circuits could output the same amount of the users natural Magic Circuits. And he only had twenty four natural Magic Circuits, and the three command seals he got earlier.
With these, he was more than doubling his output. Utterly amazing didn't even begin to describe it. Who needed a dragon core when you could just gank Kirei Kotomine?
Olga closed the church doors before turning her own attention to the arm in your grasp, "These combined with what we found should go a long way to letting you fight at even higher levels," she nodded, "Shall I set up a magic circle for the transference?"
"Nah it's fine, the Matou sorcery trait was what was used to create the Command Seals in the first place. With these not connected to a living host, it'll be simple to claim them," Faeran replied before pausing as another thought came to mind, "Actually, one would be a big help for helping transfer the knowledge I want to into two of them."
The Matou trait again was incredibly useful for this, binding knowledge into circuits. But, the drain for such a thing on the mind even with that would be annoying and drain him out massively.
Doing it within a magic circle to enhance what he was going would make it easier on him. It would still tire him out massively mentally, but less so, meaning he'd have to rest for less time.
"Understood," Olga nodded and shook her head, her lips quirking up into a small smile, "Honestly, using command seals to create a facsimile of a magic crest, how simple yet ingenious. Once we have fixed up Chaldea this will be revolutionary for training up new magi in the basics of magecraft."
The white haired woman looked at him in wonder for a moment before walking forward and making her way to the front of the church where Mash and Ritsuka were. She paused for a moment as she passed by Cu and wrinkled her nose in disgust once more before shaking her head and continuing on.
Faeran followed after her and a moment later so what caused her disgust. There at the isle of the pew Caster Cu was sitting in, was the beaten and bloodied corpse of Kotomine Kirei, laying in a heap underneath Cu's feet, the Irish Demi-god's feet resting directly atop the former priests head as a foot rest.
Faeran snorted, "Nice foot rest." he complimented.
"I know right?" Cu chuckled proudly.
It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.
It was too bad he never came across Shinji's corpse. He would have loved to do the same with the face of Seaweed Boy. That blue haired piece of trash, beyond all the general shit he'd done, Faeran had a personal gripe with him.
It was implied he forced Medusa to have sex with him as well while she served underneath him as his servant. That was enough to earn his ever lasting ire.
'Too bad Emiya is up at the temple as well or I could have gotten Kiritsugu's corpse to use in the place of Shinji.' Faeran sighed inwardly. That useless wannabe hero trash.
Oddly, now that he was thinking on the man, he noticed something a bit odd. He'd always disliked Kiritsugu. But ever since he arrived here, he found himself utterly disgusted with him. He despised him actually. The thought of ripping out his spine and choking him to death with it actually made him smile.
Perhaps because he wasn't just some fictional character here?
Faeran put it out of mind for now and stepped over Kotomine's corpse and took a seat next to Cu.
Cu in response gestured to the rest of Kotomine's body and shifted over a bit to give him some room, "Here, there's plenty of space for your feet as well lad." he offered.
Faeran snorted, but took him up on his offer and shifted over a bit and lifted his feet to rest them atop Kotomine's body.
Now sitting down, Faeran focused on the arm in his grasp and called forth the dark shadowy chains he'd made of the Matou trait he had.
Sakura Matou had subconsciously made them into ribbons. But Shaw when he discovered the ability had thought chains were more optimal. Faeran was in agreement.
The chains emerged from his wrist and wrapped around the arm and he began to absorb and bind the Command Seals to himself.
"So what brings you to my little side of the church lad?" Cu asked, striking up conversation, "I figured the first thing you'd do was greet your servant. She's a tough little lady but she's new to all this and is putting up a brave face, some praise from you will go a long way."
Good to know. Faeran would get right on that, "I'll talk with Mash in a bit," he replied, "Instead I wanted to ask you a couple of things."
Cu shrugged, "Well, up to you lad," he casually replied, "So what can old spearless Cu do for you?" the blue haired servant asked.
"How'd the contracting with Ritsuka go?" Faeran asked.
"Alright I'd say," Cu shrugged again, "Master is a complete newbie to all this, but he's gutsy and tries hard. He got the contract chant down pretty quick and he's providing me quite a bit of mana, so I'm good."
That was good to know. It meant Cu was in optimal fighting shape. Scratch good that was fucking amazing. They could team up and three on one Emiya and do him in before he could bust out Unlimited Blade Works.
"Good shit," Faeran grinned, "Now I've only got one more thing to ask you about."
"Aye?" Cu raised an eyebrow at him, "Fire away." he gestured with his hand to ask.
"Your runes, there's ones that can enhance the physical abilities of people right?" Faeran asked.
A blue eyebrow was raised in response to his question, "Aye," Cu nodded, "It's what let me take down Assassin and Lancer, otherwise I'd have been screwed."
Ah, just as he thought. That was really good to know.
"Then how do they work?" he pushed on and asked, "Would you be able to say tattoo it on somebody?"
If that worked, it would be possible to make the boosts more or less passive right? Instead of needing to be cast. He was always a fan of passive always active things like that.
"Aye it's possible," Cu nodded, "Whoever they were on would have to channel mana through em' constantly to keep them active, but it is possible."
Disappointing, but still useful. It would just be as simple as turning on magic circuits for an instant physical boost, "Would it clash at all with Reinforcement?" he asked.
"Shouldn't do," Cu shrugged, "They're different things. Reinforcement was never really my thing, so dunno about casting it on yourself. But I had the runes tattoo'd on myself in life and had a buddy reinforce me further a few times."
Then that was just perfect now wasn't it?
"So would you be able to tattoo them on me?" Faeran asked, getting to the whole point of why he was interested in the runes in the first place.
Cu chuckled and for a moment, Faeran's hopes soared, "Nope," the blue haired servant replied, immediately dashing his hopes, and then continued on before Faeran could ask why, "See for my master, it'll be possible. It'll hurt like shit, but it'll be possible. You on the other hand? Not so much lad."
Faeran's brows furrowed, "...Why not?" he asked, confused.
"Cuz I can't exactly just tattoo it in with ink or something lad," Cu shrugged, "I'd have to burn them into your skin. Meaning, they'd be scarred into you and be wounds. And well correct me if I'm wrong, but you have Berserker's Noble Phantasm right, the whole twelve lives thing?"
"...Yeah I do." Faeran nodded, understanding dawning within his mind.
"Exactly, so I'd need to bypass that Noble Phantasm in the first place which isn't simple with such a low tier rune that I'd need to use," Cu explained, "And beyond that, your body would be completely healed if you ever lost a life and since they're wounds they'd go bye bye when you regenerated right?"
Well that sucked.
Big time. It sucked fucking donkey dick.
"What about Mash?" Faeran asked, a thought coming to mind. If he couldn't boost himself, she was the next best thing as his servant.
"I could, be a shame to ruin that lovely skin of hers though." Caster Cu confirmed.
...Shit, he was right.
Faeran spent a good half an hour bothering Caster Cu while he yoinked the command seals one by one from Kotomine's severed arm.
He generally spent the time trading a few barbs and jokes with the Irish Demi-God and bugging him about anything he could think of when it came to taking advantage of runes.
He learned something very interesting the process. It was much easier to inlay runes into clothing and items than it was into the human body. It had to be tattoo'd in apparently because of the innate magic resistance even normal humans had.
Miniscule as it was, even a normal humans tiny innate magic resistance would disrupt non tattoo'd runes after a time.
"What about Mash's Shield and her gear?" Faeran asked as he stood up after finishing his task. A mass of command seals had joined the three he already had. He now had a total of thirty five and together, they spiralled up his arm like a jagged tattoo.
"You're like a dog with a bone you know that lad?" Cu rolled his eyes, "But aye, it should be possible. I've already inlayed my own gear and staff with them."
"Can you put that fire conjuring rune on her shield?" Faeran asked, a grin spreading across his face, "I'm thinking since she doesn't really have any offensive abilities it would be a big help to her."
Cu sighed, "It's a real good thing I have this foot rest to help keep me rested or I'd be exhausted by you now," he rolled his eyes, "Yes, I can do that too. Gimme a break will you? Sheesh, so demanding, you're not even my damn master."
"Don't be a little bitch hound." Faeran snorted.
Cu's eyebrow twitched, "Oi, watch it lad, Caster class or not I'll still do you in." he threatened baring his sharp canines at the teenager.
"Whatever you say old man," Faeran bared his teeth right back. And then promptly summoned his axe-sword and casually tossed it at the blue haired servant, "Here, try putting that fire rune on my sword while you're at it."
"...Lad I'm gonna kick your ass when we have the time." Cu warned.
"Promises promises." Faeran snorted and waving him off and took his leave. It was time to go talk to his cute busty servant of the shield.
"This is why I hate dealing with the Scottish, there's always some cunt just like Shishou just waiting to screw me over." he heard Cu grumble. "D-rank luck my ass."
Faeran beyond grinning in amusement, didn't react to the demi-gods words. Instead, his eyes landed on his other companions. The three of them were sat at the end of the alter stage.
He made a mental note though to take the mickey out of Cu some more later. It was always fun riling up the Irish.
Ritsuka and Mash were standing and observing Olga, while the white haired director of Chaldea focused intently on a golden magical circle inscribed on the floor below her.
He was going to go over to them, but a he paused as a thought occurred. He quickly activated the Master's Clairvoyance spell and observed himself. And the grin on his face widened at what he saw.
Mana: A+
As expected, his total magical energy output had indeed more than doubled and his parameters reflected that. That was utterly amazing.
With this, he could fight to his hearts content and support Mash at the same time going full out.
His eyes drifted to his servant, and he remembered a little something that was possible due to him being her master. He could speak with her telepathically.
Which meant he could talk to her privately whenever, even right now with a group of people around them.
'Mash?' he spoke into their connection.
The pink haired girl gave a slight start at his words, jumping slightly, before calming down, '...Master?' she replied, voice hesitant as she looked over to him.
He raised his hand and waved at her, taking a seat on one of the pews, 'Yeah, Olga seems busy and I didn't want to interrupt,' he replied, 'And I figured now was a good time for me and you to talk privately.'
'I see,' Mash replied, 'I'm sorry I didn't come to greet you right away master when you got back.'
'That's fine,' he mentally waved off the apology, 'How are you feeling? Getting a bit more used to your situation.'
Her brows furrowed lightly, '...It's weird to get used to. Suddenly I went from only passably fit to being able to lift a car over my head easily and jumped hundreds of feet in the air without effort,' she replied, 'But, I'm getting the hang of it, I think. I'll be ready for combat master!' she quickly promised.
Well, he couldn't really relate in the getting used to part. He had all of Herakles instincts and mental skills helping him get along and Shaw's own memories of his brief time using the Class Card.
It was less getting used to it for Faeran and more the wonder of being so amazingly powerful compared to what he was like before.
And Mash unlike him, not only didn't have any memories helping her, she didn't receive any mental skills from her Heroic Spirit like he did.
'Good good, I expected as much. You've been pretty reliable so far after all.' he replied and smiled over at her.
Mash blinked, and ducked her head to the side shyly, '...I have?' she replied, sounding confused.
'Definitely, you protected Ritsuka right when you first got here and had no idea what was going on. You defended him and Olga both while I took on Medusa and you played your role here going to the church and waiting for me perfectly, it might not be all huge parts yet, but even little things add up,' he assured her, 'So far you seem like a really thoughtful girl, and I like that.' he nodded to himself.
'...So you're fine with having a failure like me who can't even use her Noble Phantasm as her servant?' Mash asked, voice coming out over their link almost hesitant sounding.
'Of course, I couldn't ask for a better servant!' He quickly assured her. One thing he knew about girls, or anyone in general, was it was best to try and nip confidence issues like that in the bud. And he did mean it, the passive buffs he got from her were amazing, not to mention; 'Not only are you reliable as heck, you're gorgeous with a killer body and a really nice voice. Mash you're a ten out of ten servant, way better than the defective spearman sitting behind me.'
Mash's head snapped up to look at him, eyes wide and cheeks flaming red, 'M-master!?' she spluttered mentally.
Ah, she was super cute.
