By Day One Way, By Night Another
Chapter 43
The girls' locker room was filled with a light buzz of excitement mixed with a bit of nervousness as all the cheerleaders fixed their makeup and hair for the game.
"I can't believe we are actually going to preform to Shakira's Hips Don't Lie tonight. The song is so iconic and the fact that we are dancing to it makes us iconic." Crystal said and she worked on her eyeshadow.
"I don't think it works like that." Jennifer lightly remarked, sitting with her legs crossed on one of the benches, finished with her dark makeup.
"Okay, but you have to admit that this performance is going to be the most iconic of the year." Sarah smiled, "I mean it's Shakira."
"Yes, and my hips do not lie when I say we are going to performance so well tonight." Kori jumped up and started shaking her hips at her friends, making everyone giggle.
"Ah lad!" Toni laughed as she pushed Kori's butt away from her, "I need a steady hand for this eyeliner."
"Winged eyeliner?" Karen rose her eyebrow, before going to poke Toni, "It feels like you are trying to impress someone out on the bleachers."
A red blush quickly covered Toni face at the thought of Garth cheering her on, but quickly let it pass as she continued her eyeliner. "I need full concentration for this wing."
Karen rolled her eyes playfully before her phone rang, "I'm going to get this." The girls nodded at her before she walked out of the locker room.
"Okay on a scale from one to ten, how important do you all think this half time performance is to Karen." Jennifer leaned into her friend group.
"Probably a seven." Sarah giggled, "Why? Planning on running off with Wally?"
"No." Jennifer quickly remarked, "I just may have something really impor-" Jennifer was interrupted by Karen running back into the locker room with a smile that could blind people.
"Girls! I just got off the phone with the news station! They are going to be recording some parts of the football game and putting it on the news to encourage the law that was passed over the summer!" Karen let out a breath before letting a little shake of excitement pass through her body, "And they want to do a live coverage of our half time show!"
The locker room was now filled with excited giggles and a new buzz of chatter.
"I told you this performance was going to be iconic!" Crystal wiggled, "I have to make sure my makeup looked TV ready."
"I think the importance of this performance move up from a seven to a fifteen." Toni smiled stretching out her legs.
"I have never been on the television." Kori bounced before pulling all her friends into a hug, "I am very enthusiastic that I get to share this experience with you."
"Of course, Kori!" Karen patted her friends back as she was smushed against her other friends. "Now could you let us go. I have to go get our extra glittery pom-poms out of storage."
"Okay!" Kori let go of her semi-strong hold on the girls.
"Ah, I can breathe again," Sarah let out a breath dramatically, earning a laugh from all the girls.
Jennifer quickly got up to follow Karen into the storage room, "Do you need some help?"
"Sure." Karen smiled, as she started to move cardboard boxes around, looking for a certain box. "I am super excited about this game. It feels like all our hard work is paying off. Like a live section just for the halftime show? I still can't believe it."
"Yeah, about that. I need to talk to you about something," Jennifer started, thinking to figure out the best excuse to give Karen that didn't scream 'I am going to rob a super intelligence building for an extractor so I can turn the whole world upside down by revealing the world's protectors' identities to the Brotherhood of Evil.
"Oh I found them!" Karen exclaimed as she pulled out a box that had "Glitter Poms!" written in sharpie on the side of it. "Hold out your arms. Make sure to carry with your legs, not your back." Karen asked Jennifer. After Jennifer followed the instructions, Karen gave the box to Jennifer. "It still feels super surreal. Like this is the perfect game to be live. All the girls are here, finally. I know that the start of the school year has been crazy, but I feel like we've had more half-time shows that had girls missing then having the complete team."
"About that…" Jennifer started, but Karen seemed to be in her own world and didn't hear Jennifer.
"Like this halftime show may be the most important of the year." Karen let out a sigh, having a smile plastered on her face as she grabbed the other box. "Things could not get any more perfect. This is like my dream. So many some colleges will see the team perform and see me as captain! Next thing you know I will have scholarships piling up at my feet."
"Right." Jennifer murmured out of Karen hearing range, before letting out a sigh as the two girls reentered the locker room.
"Enough about me." Karen smiled as she set the box down on the benches, "What were you trying to say? I know you wanted to talk."
"Um…" Jennifer quickly weighed her options of telling Karen that she might have to skip out on the game as she set her stacked her box on top of the other. Jennifer gave a weak smile before caving in, "I'm just kind of nervous about being on live television. I've never been before."
"Oh, I'm sorry, Jenn." Karen put a reassuring hand on Jennifer's shoulder, "I know you will do just great. You are one of our best cheerleaders on the team, especially for this being your first year at Jump City High. You have this spark in you and just follow your instinct and I know you will do great."
"But what if I mess up and let the team down?" Jennifer asked sincerely. She didn't realize how much the team meant to her until her asked that question. The team had become a family to her, sisters that she never had, especially since all her Hive Five teammates were teenage boys. She never really had one-on-one girl time until she joined the team.
"Jenn, you could never let the team down." Karen smiled lightly, wrapping her into a hug. "You are not just a spot in the routine, you are a friend."
"Thanks Karen." Jennifer let go of the hug. "That means a lot."
"Of course." Karen gave her another small shoulder squeeze while smiling softly. "I'm going to pass these out, okay?"
"Yeah, you're good." Jennifer weakly smiled before walking a few benches over and letting out a sigh.
"Why the heavy face?" An unfamiliar voice said from behind Jennifer.
"What?" Jennifer turned to see Jade lying on one of the benches with her hands over her eyes. "You can't even see me."
"I can hear you though," Jade said without moving, "And it sounds like you are holding a lot back." Jennifer examined the girl, looking at her tone arms and legs. There was a short pause before Jade moved her hands from her eyes and looked Jennifer straight into her eyes. "You want to talk about it?"
Jennifer looked at Jade questionably. She didn't know much about Jade, so she couldn't read if she was a person that she could trust or a person to avoid.
"Who am I going to gossip to?" Jade squinted her eyes, almost like she was reading Jennifer's mind. "I get it, high school is the kingdom of drama." Jade turned back to looking at the ceiling and covered her eyes.
Jennifer continued to look at the toned girl, confused on how to respond. For some reason, Jade was so hard to read. Jennifer looked back at Karen who was happily passing out the glittery pom-poms before turning back to Jade. "I might have to leave during the game and I'm a little worried that Karen is going to be mad at me for it."
"Do you have to leave?" Jade asked, shifting up to a sitting up position.
"It's pretty important." Jennifer scanned Jade's face but still couldn't get a read. "Like it's something I have to do today before it gets dark."
"Huh," Jade hummed in thought, looking over to Karen, "If Karen only really cares about the half time performance, then leave right after it. She'll be on such a bliss she'll probably let you leave without having to do any extra excises."
"That could work." Jennifer tapped her chin in thought, I would just have to convince the team to leave right after the halftime show. None of the boys would care expect for See-more. Jennifer's mind flashes back to when See-more questioned her leadership of the team. I can't really convince him without him thinking I'm too stuck up in all the highschool lifestyle. I'll need a distraction.
"I hoped that helped," Jade broke Jennifer from her thoughts, lying back down on the bench.
"Are you okay?" Jennifer asked, looking as Jade closed.
"I've just been feeling really lethargic lately and I can't really pinpoint it." Jade sighed, open her eyes again to meet Jennifer's, "I am very observant. With other people and especially myself, so to feel out of place is very foreign to me."
"Maybe you're sick?" Jennifer suggested, "The weather seemed to skip over fall and is moving straight over to winter this year."
"Yeah, maybe." Jade sighed. Her eyes quickly shot from Jennifer's to meet another person's. "It looks like someone is trying to get your attention."
Jennifer looked behind her to see Scarlett impatiently waving Jennifer down from the corner of the locker room where Kitten and her posse hung out. "Great." Jennifer gritted her teeth as she got up and headed towards Scarlett.
"Agh," Scarlett huffed as Jennifer finally reached her, "I feel like I have been waiting light years for you."
"Hi." Jennifer threw a huge fake smile as she looked at Kitten and Melissa, who were taking selfies not even two feet from them. "Can we speak somewhere more private?"
"No, I like it here." Scarlett crossed her arms, "How did our history project go."
"Amazing." Jennifer said flatly, not wanting to deal with Scarlett's nonsense. "Your essay was turned into the drop box, like you asked."
"Thanks," Scarlett smiled mischievously, "I'm so glad we are friends."
"Me too." Jennifer gritted, "Anything else I could help you with?"
"Actually, yes, now that you ask." Scarlett pulled piece of paper out of backpack, "Could you be a dear and pick all these things up this weekend? I would do it myself," Scarlett paused as she gave a disgusted look towards Kitten and Melissa who were editing their pictures to their liking, "but I'm going to be busy."
Jennifer snatched the list from Scarlett, earning herself a death look from the ginger. Newest iPhone. Newest MacBook. Jennifer quickly scanned the list that seemed like there was a million things on it. "What do you mean by new wardrobe?"
"I want clothes." Scarlett separated each word. "I thought you were top of your class."
Jennifer wanted to roll her eyes so far that she could see her brain trying to strangle itself, but she knew she couldn't. She had to stay on Scarlett good side in order to keep her secret. "What kind of clothes? Anything in specific? What type of style?"
Scarlett looked up in thought before a smile crept to each cheek. "I want expensive, of course. I something sexy, something powerful." She looked Jennifer up and down and sighed, "I know you wouldn't understand what that means since you dress like a unicorn and death had a baby, but you are going to have to figure it out."
"We are literally wearing the same cheer uniform." Jennifer remarked.
"Yeah, but I wear it better." Scarlett shot back before waving Jennifer off, "You can leave now." She watched as Jennifer walked back to her group of friends.
"Why were you talking to her?" Kitten asked after a few seconds, "She is a complete loser."
"I'm only friends with her because she basically does all my work." Scarlett half-lied, "She is so infatuated with me that she practically begged me to let her do my work."
"OMG, that is so cool." Melissa fixed her lipstick, "I wish I had one of those friends."
"Okay enough about that," Kitten waved her hands, trying to get the attention back on herself, "I am having no luck trying to get Wally to be my boyfriend. I thought he was just dating Jennifer for an easy weekend and then he'd drop her, but that doesn't look like that's the case."
"You have to admit that they are kind of cute." Melissa swooned, "It's like a Disney movie, the jock and the goth."
"More like the jock and the wierdo. Nothing about them is cute." Kitten snapped. "So any suggestions?"
"Why don't you just find another boy to date? You have guys in this school who would die for you." Scarlett looked at her nails, bored of the conversion.
"I, Kitten, the most popular girl in school, cannot date just any boy. I have to date someone of equal or higher status within the popularity food chain." Kitten explained as it was common sense.
Melissa nodded, before looking at Kitten sincerely, "Being so popular must be so hard."
"Yeah, heavy hangs the head that wears the crown," Kitten rolled her eyes, "That still doesn't solve my problem… I'm single and I need a popular boy. Homecoming is literally a month and half away. I need a king if I want to be queen."
"It's uneasy lies the head that wears the crown." Scarlett corrected.
Kitten narrowed her eyes at the ginger, wonder why the hell she was correcting her.
Scarlett eyes lit up as an idea popped into her head, "Why don't you drop Wally West and go after Dick Grayson? Wally might have been the most popular boy before, but Dick has climbed the ranks so fast that he's bound to be more popular than Wally."
"He's also the son a billionaire playboy." Melissa added, "In his last school in Gotham, I heard that he had the same level of status as Bruce Wayne but in the teenage world."
"Dick Grayson." Kitten repeated in thought, tapping her pink acrylic nails together. "Kitten and Dick. The homecoming Queen and King." The image of Dick carrying her bridal style to a stage where a crown with pink jewels popped into her head. "It's perfect."
"One problem," Melissa carefully said, "Isn't he dating Kori?"
Kitten growled. "Why would he date that bimbo? What is wrong with these popular guys picking trash to be their girlfriends."
"Actually, they broke up a few weekends ago." Scarlett smiled at Kitten, "A little birdie told me that right now they are trying to patch things up, but they are not technically dating."
"Oh, who is this little birdie?" Melissa covered her mouth, ready for the gossip.
"It's a secret." Scarlett looked over to Jennifer. One of Jennifer's weekly tasks was to update her on Kori. "But I bet you could charm Dick out of pursuing Kori. I mean, you are the most popular girl at Jump City High."
"I am." Kitten stood up dramatically, "and I am going to get Dick Grayson to be my king, and nothing will stop me."
"Trust me, with my help, Dick will forget Kori's name." Scarlett ensured with an evil smile.

The football stands were filled with students getting ready for the game to start. The school colors of marron, white, and black covered the stands as everyone tried to show their school pride, but only two students beat everyone else.
"We look absolutely…" Gar started.
"Amazing!" Terra finished excitedly as she jumped around in the stands. "We are definitely going to get a picture in the yearbook for cutest couple showing the most school pride." Terra did a spin to show off her outfit, which consisted of white shorts that had a mixture of marron and black fade towards the end, a school jersey that was ties up to show her stomach, and a football helmet that had two bottles of soda attached to the sides of the helmet. She had glitter all over her body and face while having 'Go Eagles' written on her legs and arms.
"Dang girl!" Gar hyped her up. "We are bound to win with us looking this good." Gar struck a goofy pose, stunting his outfit. He had on a hat that had a stuffed eagle on the very top along with a school jersey and white shorts and a flag with an eagle on if tied around his neck to resemble a cape. He decorated his body and face by painting it half marron and half white, with 'Go Eagles' painted on his face.
"Thank you for going all out with me!" Terra smiled before wrapping Gar in a quick kiss. "I've never had this much fun at a game."
"And the game hasn't even started yet!" Gar threw a toothy smile, "I told you we would have a great time!"
"You also told me that you would introduce me to all your friends," Terra looked around the stands, "where are they?"
"I don't know." Gar bit his lip in nervousness. Even though Adrienne and him cleared the air about their evening together yesterday, he still felt nervous to introduce Terra to her. He didn't know if it was because he knew Adrienne was Raven and he knew that Raven didn't like Terra for the way she had hurt the Titans or if the nervousness was because of something deeper. "Most of my friends will be on the field either cheering or playing in the game."
"Awe," Terra made a sad face. "I really wanted to meet them all today. I was so excited."
Gar put an arm around her to try to comfort her, "Maybe if we all do something after the game, you can meet them then."
Terra clicked her tongue in thought before pulling down on Gar's arm, "Oh I spotted them I think!" She pointed at Roy and Garth who walking about the stand about twenty feet across from Gar and Terra. "I think that's Roy and Garth, let's go meet them!"
Gar's heart skipped beats as he saw that the two boys were walking up to meet Adrienne and Lance. "Yep, that's them." Gar said, as Terra pulled him towards his friends. He tried to calm himself down, but it seemed like every step closer they took closer to his friends, his heart started to pound harder. There's nothing to worry about. Adrienne is my friend. His thoughts were broken as he felt Terra snudge him in the chest. He shook his head and realized that he and Terra were standing in front of his friends, who were looking at his with blank stares.
"Oh hey dudes!" He let out a chuckle and he rubbed the back of his head. "What's up?"
"Gar, that's you?" Garth gave his painted friend an up-and-down look, "We barely recognized you."
"Way to go on going all out," Roy said before looking down to check his phone.
"Heh, yeah." Gar chuckled again. His eyes met Adrienne's and he quickly shot them away. "Dudes, this is my girlfriend Terra." He motioned at Terra. "Ta-da."
"Hi," Terra gave a shy wave at the group of friends, "I've heard so much about you all."
"Cool." Adrienne said flatly, staring daggers at Terra. She then quickly shifted her focus on a book that her and Lance were sharing.
"It's nice to meet you Terra." Garth politely said as he shuffled over to make room for Gar and Terra to sit next to him and Roy while Adrienne and Lance sat a bleacher above them. Garth turned to Roy who had him eyes locked on his phone, "I thought you were supposed to meet with Donna to talk to her before the game."
"I was but she's running late." Roy said in annoyed tone. "Every minute she's late just piles another brick of anxiety on my back."
"You need to relax and not overthink it." Garth reassured but just earned a death stare from Roy.
"Don't tell me to relax. It doesn't help." Roy replied before sticking his phone in his pocket.
"Sorry," Garth said softly before loud music blasted through the stadium.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I INTRODUCE TO YOU, THE EAGLES!" The voice filled the stadium as confetti popped knew the boy's locker room and all the football players started to run onto the field as the crowd when wild.
"It's so loud." Lance commented over the cheers, "I can barely read."
"Yeah, I know." Adrienne grabbed the book and closed it, placing it in her bag, "There's no point in trying to read anymore until maybe the second quarter."
Lance looked around the busy stadium, watching the cheerleaders run out of the girl's locker room, doing flips and cartwheels. "I don't mean to be rude, but why are you here?" Lance looked at her with soft eyes, "I mean I know you would much rather spend your Friday night doing something quieter."
"Yeah, I would," Adrienne paused before looking at her friends on the field and then at the back of Gar's head, who was telling jokes to Terra. "But I'm more here for my friends. Most of them have to be here for either football or cheer and all my other friends are here cheering them on." Adrienne gave Lance a soft smile, "I know this is out of both of our comfort zones, but I am really happy that you made an effort to hang out with my friends."
Lance looked into her eyes for a moment before planting a delicate kiss on her forehead, "Of course, anything for you."
"So what do you think of them?" Adrienne whispered to Lance.
"Well, I've only meet them five minute ago." Lance joked, "But they all seem pretty nice. Gar seems to be…" Lance paused looking for the right words, "a lot less threating than I imagined."
Adrienne let on a forced chuckled, as she looks at the blond boy whose body was covered in paint, "Yeah he's not a threat a lot."

"Come on girls!" Karen yelled as all the cheerleaders got into position.
"We want a touchdown, just a little touchdown, an itty-bitty touchdown." All the girls cheered with huge smiles and amazing footwork, "A teensy-weensy, nice and dreamy, all fulfilling, making-it-thrilling, TOUCHDOWN!"
"Woo!" Kori cheered as she ended the cheer with a backflip, along with some of the other girls. "Give me your loudest cheer!"
"We are only one touchdown behind," Karen had her hands on her hips, "We are doing good. Let's take a five."
"Good," Toni gave a weak smile, "I need to calm my nerves before this halftime performance." Toni looked at Jennifer who was staring at the scoreboard, "You nervous, love?"
"What?" Jennifer shook her head to scatter her thoughts, before checking her phone for the time. "It's 4:45 and we just made it into the second quarter."
"Yeah, this game is moving a little slow," Sarah sighed, "Which just means more time for us to cheer."
"At this rate, this quarter will last thirty minutes minimum." Crystal said before chugging her water.
"Perfect," Jennifer replied in an anxious tone. She quickly turned around to scan the crowd, looking for her teammates. She quickly found Simon hanging out with a couple girls she had never seen before within the bleacher. Since when did See-more become such a ladies' man? Jennifer thought to herself, before looking for Lance.
"Oh my gosh," Jennifer said before tapping Kori on the shoulder, "Look over there."
"Where?" Kori followed Jennifer's finger that was pointed at the top of the bleachers. "Oh my!" Kori giggled as she saw Gar covered in paint. "I am in love with his festive spirit!"
"Don't confuse festive with idiotic." Jennifer laughed as Kori grabbed Toni and Karen to look at Gar.
"Honestly," Karen paused, "I wouldn't expect anything less."
"Who is that girl he is with?" Toni asked, waving over to her friends on the bleachers.
"Let me see." Kori said as she squirted her eyes to the blonde girl that was holding Gar's hand. "I cannot tell because of her attire."
"Oh, well. I'm sure we will meet her after the game." Karen shook it off as she began to stretch.
"The game," Jennifer whispered to herself as her head quickly turned back to the scoreboard. I need to buy more time. She thought to herself before she started to frantically wave at her friends within the bleachers.
"What are you doing?" Toni asked with a small chuckle.
"I am trying to get Lance's attention." Jennifer said between waves, "I need a favor from him."
"Who's Lance?" Toni asked.
"Adrienne's boyfriend." Jennifer let out a heavy sigh, "This is useless, they are completely blind."
"I'll text Garth to tell him to come down." Toni said with a smile.
"That's so smart, how did I not think of that?" Jennifer laughed as the two girls watched Garth talk to Lance, and then both guys walking towards the end of the bleachers.
"Oooo, looks like Garth wants to talk to you," Karen poked, making a heart with her hand.
A pink blush covered Toni's face as the two guys approached the railing that was separating the bleachers from the field. "Hey Toni, I brought you some sour skittles." Garth said with a smile. "You know, for energy."
Jennifer watched the two shared friendly banter before she turned to Lance.
"Are we about to leave?" Lance asked, looking down at his watch.
"About that," Jennifer said slowly, hoping Lance wouldn't think she was weak for the favor she was about to ask of him, "I need more time before we can go."
"Why?" Lance asked.
"I just really need to make it passed the halftime performance." Jennifer explained, "It turns out that a news station is covering the performance live and it's really important to the team." Jennifer got closer to Lance so they were the only ones who could hear their conversation, "I would ask the team to do it later but See-more would just call me out in front of the whole team."
"Okay." Lance looked at Jennifer's eyes that pleaded for help, "so what do you want me to do?"
"I don't know," Jennifer quickly said, "Tell See-more you aren't ready yet, or just convince Gizmo to tell the team that he hasn't finished the programming." Jennifer covered her face with hands, "I really don't care as long as you buy me some more time. This is really important to me."
"Come on girls, let get back into formation!" Karen called to the girls.
"Please, Lance." Jennifer pleaded quickly.
"I'll see what I can do." Lance replied before Jennifer wrapped him in a hug, with the railing separating the two from a full hug.
"Thank you! I owe you one." Jennifer said before running to meet the rest of the cheer team.

"Go Vic, run like your life depends on it!" Roy cheered as everyone in the stands watched at Victor was about to make a touchdown. Suddenly an opponent tackled him from behind, causing the two to collapse onto the ground. "Nooooo! Damn it."
"Who knew that Roy was really passionate about football," Gar joked before tossing some popcorn in his mouth.
"He just needs to find a way to blow off steam." Garth laughed at his friend.
"We have two minutes until halftime, and we are two touchdowns from breaking even." Roy stood up and screamed, "I know you can do this Eagles. Dick, Vic, Wally, show Jump City what you are made of! You got th-" Roy stopped cheering as his phone buzzed and he turned all his attention to a text message. 'Hey, I'm really sorry but this family emergency is lasting a lot longer than I originally thought. I don't think I'm going to be able to make the game. I might be able to meet you a little later on tonight, but I don't want to make any promises I can't keep. I'm sorry Roy.' A bubble grew in Roy's throat. His face felt hot and felt like his lungs forgot how to exhale.
"I'm out of here." Roy puffed before pushing passed Garth.
"Wait, what just happened?" Garth said as he ran off to chase Roy. "Aren't you supposed to be waiting on Donna?" Garth grabbed Roy's shoulder as soon as he caught up to him, about ten steps below where all their friends were sitting
"Donna ditched me again!" Roy yanked his shoulder away from Garth. "I've been waiting here all afternoon feeling like a complete wreck, and for what? Just to get bailed on. No, I'm leaving before I blow a fuse."
Garth just watched his redhead best friend stomp further away from their spot in the bleacher. "He better not do anything stupid." Garth whispered to himself before returning to his friends, who were encompassed in a friendly conversation.
"Just the two days I've had him, I've hated it," Gar covered on eye with his hand and mocked his new English teacher, "Gar! Stop daydream and give me a summary of chapter 3 of Fahrenheit 451."
"You sound just like him!" Terra let out a giggle.
"Gar would also be the one to be playing video games on his phone during class with the volume on," Adrienne combatted.
"I actually kind of like Mr. W's strict teaching style." Lance said, "I feel like we will cover more ground faster. I mean, we've had him for two days and we've already covered a quarter of the book."
"Yeah, but he's putting a lot more reading assignments on us." Garth joined the conversation, sitting down next to Gar. "Some teachers need to understand that we have a lot more going on in our lives than just school."
"Speaking of the devil," Adrienne pointed to the other side of the stadium.
"What is he doing sitting on the opponent's side?" Garth asked, as all the friends stared at the teacher who was staring intensely at the football field.
"Maybe he's taking notes on who actually came to the game?" Lance suggested.
"Whatever his reason is, it is creepy." Terra looked at her teacher with her eyebrows raised, "he literally is centered in the middle of the stadium."
"Almost like he wanted to get the perfect view of the game," Garth thought out loud.
"Okay, maybe he's just really into football and didn't want to sit on the same side of all his students, who clearly don't like him and make fun of him." Adrienne defended. "He may not be trying to be creepy."
Gar's face soften as he realized that Adrienne was only defending Mr. W because she, as Raven, had plenty of experience of people calling her creepy and quickly writing her off as someone evil or up to no good because of her demonic powers. "Yeah, we couldn't judge him too quickly. Being different isn't always a bad thing." Gar looked at Adrienne with a toothy smile as a light blush covered her cheeks.

"One more minute on the clock!" Karen announced, looking at the football team that was huddle together for a quick timeout. "Start stretching for the half time performance."
"Anyone else nervous?" Toni let out a weak chuckle, before plopping onto the grass and stretching her legs.
"I was born to be in the spotlight." Kitten tossed her hair over her shoulder before pulling out her phone to check her makeup.
Jade just gave a Kitten an eye roll before turning to Toni, "It's okay to feel nervous, just the nerves to your advantage."
"Yes, Toni! And we, your friends, will be right behind you supporting you and cheering you on!" Kori smiled before, knelt on the grass next to Toni and wrapping her in a hug.
"Awe, thank you Kori." Toni hugged the ginger back.
Jade just smiled, as felt a sudden longing for a friendship like theirs. She had always been so busy helping with her family's business that she could never maintain solid friendships. The closest thing she had to a friendship was her younger sister. She suddenly felt the urge to throw up as the air filled with the greasy smell of onion rings. "I'll be right back." Jade said quickly before quickly running off the sidelines.
She quickly ran passed students and parents carrying snacks from the concessions stands, each smell making her more nauseous. She felt a rush of dizziness pass through her and her lost her balance and chased into a someone walking along the sidewalk, knocking them both to the ground.
"Hey! Watch where you are going." Roy puffed angrily, before realizing who ran into him. He saw Jade on her hands and knees on the ground. "Oh, sorry Jade. Are you okay?" Roy scrambled to help her up.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Jade got up with Roy's help, and put her hands on her knees and breathed heavy, "I just thought I had to puke but the feeling passed."
"Puke? Why?" Roy asked quickly as he put his hand on her back, "Do you need water or something?" Jade just shook her head, caught her breath. Roy looked up at the girl with concerned eyes and his mind flashed to an unknown memory of his hand of her bare back in the back of her car the night of the bonfire a few weeks ago. He quickly shook the memory, knowing that right now was not the time to be having flashback, "Are you feeling sick from something you took before the game?"
Jade took a deep breath before standing up straight and looking Roy in the eyes with a hurt glare, "Because I'm some junkie?" Jade yanked her body away from Roy's hand, insulted that he thought she had done some type of drug before the game. "I'm more than that night of the bonfire." Jade snapped. "Don't talk to me."
Before Roy had a chance to explain himself, Jade ran off back onto the field to meet the other cheerleaders. "Sorry, I needed to pee." Jade lied.
"You're good, we have about another minute." Jennifer replied. She watched as the football team ran back onto the field to finish the last minute of the quarter. A certain redhead caught her eye as he gave her a huge wave and a flirtatious smile through his football helmet. Her attention was scattered as her phone buzzed in her pocket. She quickly opened her phone and felt her heart drop as she read the message from the Hive Five group chat. 'I just finished the programming. We are good to go but we need to go now. -Gizmo'.
Jennifer quickly texted back, 'I need ten more minutes and then I'm good to go. -Jinx.' Her eyes turned to watch the second go by on the scoreboard clock. Another buzz caught her attention. 'No, Jinx. We are doing this now. You can stay and play cheerleader, or you can lead the team you created. You decide. -See-more.'
She looked back at the clocked that read thirty-eight seconds but stopped as the ball touch the grass, ending the play. "Fuck." Jennifer spat as she ran up to Karen, "Karen, I have to go."
"What?" Karen looked at her harsh eyes, "I need you for this performance."
"I can't. I need to leave, I'm sorry." Jennifer voice broke in a desperate tone before she ran off the sidelines.
"Jennifer!" Karen called after her but to no avail. "Damn it!" She breathed in frustration.
"AND THAT'S IT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THAT WRAPS UP THE FIRST HALF OF THE FIRST HALF OF THE GAME WITH THE EAGLES TWO TOUCHDOWNS BEHIND," A loud spokes voice boomed over the whole stadium as a camera man quickly set up his equipment while the football moved to the side lines, "AND NOW WE ARE GOING TO SEE AN AMAZING HALFTIME PERFORMANCE LEAD BY THE CHEER CAPTAIN KAREN BEECHER THAT WILL SURELY BRING ALL THE PLAYERS SPIRIT UP."
"Okay, girls, we got this." Karen smiled as the girls started to run onto the field. As Karen ran to her spot of the field, a notification popped up on her apple watch that twisted her stomach. Emergency. Villain attack. "Shit."

I also wanted to let y'all know that I will be fixing some of the older chapters between updates, so if you get any weird notifications, that's it.
Okay, now to talk about the story and a lil personal update I guess. So, when I started writing this story, I was pretty young and I kind of assumed a lot of stuff about high school. Like, I am going to be honest, I was a pretty good kid. I never went to a real high school party where half the school was there and drunk off their asses. I had my close friends and I kind of coasted through high school. It wasn't until after I graduated when I realized that a lot of wild things actually happen in high school. It seems like a lot of people, or even everyone, are having sex, drinking, and/or doing drugs. So knowing that now, I wanted to incorporate that more into this story instead of creating this false reality where sex, drinking, and smoking is rare. So, if you see a shift in some of the mature topics, that's why and I just wanted to let you know where it was coming from. Now, I'm not going to make the shift dramatic, but you might see the Titans go to more parties or settings where that stuff is more evident.
Please let me know what y'all think about shift and if it too much. Please don't hesitate to tell me.
Also, I am bringing back the review goal! Yay! So for the next chapter update reach 884 reviews or wait until the 15th of June. Thank you! I love you and don't forget to review! I love readings your thoughts and your ideas!
So here are the exciting things that will be coming up!
Next chapter (44) will be focus on the gang going out and celebrating their win or loss of the football. There will also superhero/supervillain action.
The chapter after that will be the hiking double date and a little more.
After that I have two events that are coming up. Halloween and Homecoming.
One finally thing and this is SUPER IMPORTANT. I talked about incorporating some new characters into the story. I want your opinion if I should still do that or if I should keep the cast list as it is. And if I do add more characters, should I add just a few (like Kole, Jericho, Hotspot) or go all out and add all the honorary Titans? It would be a little difficult to give them all the screen time as the deserve but it would be cool to incorporate them into the story and it would make the story 'run' longer!
Please review who I show add to the story and what you thought of the chapter.
Pass the Review Goal to get the chapter early: 888
