Chapter One
The eastern sun slowly streamed through the blue yonder and green mountains and the great veils of shadow soon fell away, revealing the majesty and beauty of the Russian countryside. The dawning light revealed a clean wooden cabin just outside the bordering woods.
The rays pierced through the hut windows, sparing a little light into the room. Laying in the bed, were two women, the slightly elder had pale skin and ebony black hair, while the slightly younger had light natural blonde hair. The two embraced each other ever so still and lightly.
However, their tranquillity was cut short by the rumbling vibration of a phone upon the nearby desk. Groaning, the elder snapped from her peaceful daze and flimsily emerged from under the sheets. With a silent yawn, she rubbed her eyes and stretched out her limbs before she reached over for the flashing and buzzing phone laying on the bedside drawer.
"Hello?" she called.
"Privyet, Olga," a familiar male voice at the other end said with the Russian word for 'hello'. "Is Dr Tabakova there with you?"
"Of course she is," Olga confirmed before she turned to her girlfriend and handed over the phone. "Nadya, it's for you."
"I'm here," Nadya took the phone and greeted.
"It's Dr Kaidanovsky," the voice revealed his name. "I suggest you come over. You may want to see what's going on for yourself."
"Okay then, Aleksis. I'll get there as soon as I can."
"Good, same for Olga as well. Mikhail expects all of his team up and ready. You do know what he's like."
"On it," Olga affirmed with a clear nod.
With that, the call quickly ended and she set aside the phone atop the drawer.
"So, I guess that means we skip shower and breakfast?" Nadya said.
"Well he didn't exactly say that now, did he?" Olga shrugged.
They both chuckled before she gave her a sweet kiss on the lips and soon dragged themselves out of bed. Olga opened the blinds and looked through the window, spotting the glistening sunlight pave over the snowmelt fields. Atop the hills stood abnormal yet beautiful towers of steel and concrete, and amidst the bottom of the hill stood a facility tower of polished, sterile steel.
Slowly inhaling through her nose, Olga took in the air and stretched her muscular arms with a yawn to boost, before she opened up the wardrobe and immediately found her uniform properly organised and hanging, and she picked it up with ease. Olga put together her dark grey military suit and gear, while Nadya slipped on her trousers and white labcoat. With uniforms on and ready, they both walked out the door and went on their way.

The two women rushed along the corridor, their footsteps echoed down the hallways with them, and their warm huffs of breath were faded into the chilled atmosphere. Close ahead, another individual stood by, a male of slightly older age, with dark hair and military gear and uniform. He tapped his foot with arms crossed and lips stiffened.
"About time you two turned up," the brown-haired man spoke.
"At least we even came at all, Mikhail," Olga said back.
"You should be at least glad that the boss is kind enough to let you lot slide," Mikhail commented. "Or at least not mad enough to feed you to whatever creature we're dealing with."
Olga rolled her eyes, feeling a bit defeated by that comeback. The three soon made their way to a big metallic door, where Mikhail tapped on a few numbers and granted access. Emitting the sounds of clanging steel, the door split through the middle and parted to let in the humans so they could meet an amusing sight.
Beneath the rocky crust of the hill, a massive organism lied in a deep slumber; a gigantic beast barely and dimly lit by white spotlights, its features left ever so vague in shadow. It emitted a low yet noticeable howl, what was merely an exhale for the creature felt like a warm yet unsettling breeze to the humans.
In the centre of the main room stood a tall man with clean-shaven black hair and beard, in a bright grey suit, shirt and trousers, staring intently ahead at the sleeping Titan.
"Dr Aleksis Kaidanovsky?" Nadya recognised her mentor.
"Ah yes, just in time, my dear," Aleksis turned back to see his apprentice. "I was about to wonder when you'd be back. We just had a bit of a near-waking occurrence from the creature, like a rhythmic movement."
"Is that really true?" Olga questioned.
"If you were up earlier to see it for yourself, you'd believed it," Mikhail stepped in. "I know I did. I was even nearly tempted to shoot the thing before it could potentially attack us."
As Mikhail and Olga joined up with the rest of their team, Nadya sat down on her desk and looked at her monitor, seeing the green line wave move up and down in a particular pattern, every second or so with an accompanying bleep along with it. About a minute later, the rate had suddenly sped up by a slight, immediately catching the curiously concentrating Nadya off-guard.
"Doctor," Nadya called to Aleksis.
"What is it?" Aleksis commanded.
"Sir, the creature's heartbeat had increased up to about 36 BPM," Nadya explained. "You think we've somehow startled it?"
"Possible..." Aleksis muttered.
As they pondered this, a subtle surge of blue light ran across the beast's resting body.
