May The Best Uchiha Band Win
And here we are with ch2 of this super funny and fun fic to write as well as to read! Enjoy the chapter! Kudos to Hidan for literally throwing all this info out in the show, that scene was so funny and was literally the basis of this whole fic. It finished me when he called Itachi gloomy, "No hold on, the gloomy one's definitely handling the vocals."

Chapter 2: Members
Konan and Itachi spent the entire weekend working on the song. After hours and hours of hard work, they had completed their first song together. Itachi let Konan decide on the name since it was her melody that started this whole thing. She'd decided on the title 'Our Season'. They were about to upload it to a music streaming platform but before he did, Konan stopped him.
"Nothing's going to change after we put this out, right? Everything is going to stay the same." She sounded so uncertain.
"I know you're trying to reassure yourself but it sounds like you're panicking." He commented while working on this laptop.
"I'm not panicking. Who's panicking? Not me. Definitely not me. I'm fine, everything's going to be normal and just fine." They clicked on the mouse together and put out the song.
Everything. Was. Not. Fine.
Konan barely made it to her locker as she was swamped by students from her year and some from the year above and below. She'd endured a barrage of compliments, several love confessions and letters given to her, threats from people who were jealous that she sang with Itachi and the biggest of all, so many questions about her relationship with Itachi.
"Are you guys dating?"
"Are you an angel?"
"What does he smell like?"
"Marry me, please?"
"How does it feel to be the future mother of his children?"
That last question really threw her off. She'd thanked those who'd loved the song and complimented it but as for those invasive but mostly strange questions, she kept her mouth shut and kept walking. She tried as hard as she could to lose the people following her but damn they were persistent. She tried hiding in one of the classrooms but the students already in there were hounding her as well, and the people from before popped up in various places. Some burst the door open, some through the window—how they managed that when they were on the second floor, she'd never know— and Konan could've sworn one girl came in through the ceiling? But she didn't stay to find out, she pushed her way through the crowd and bolted.
This little chasing game continued on for ten more minutes. The one time she needed classes to start, the hour before school began which never felt long enough was now dragging on. She turned a corner and hid behind a row of lockers. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and tried to catch her breath. At this rate she didn't need to attend her P.E. class, all this running was more than enough exercise. Konan stood up straight and alert, hearing the words she wished she wouldn't. She thought she'd had at least a few more minutes but she was wrong.
"Guys! I found her!" one of the students yelled at the top of his lungs. Konan sighed in exhaustion, just as she turned to start running again, she felt a hand grab her wrist.
"You're having an eventful morning, aren't you?" Itachi stood next to her.
"You better wipe that smug look off your face before I do." she crossed her arms over her chest. "This is so unfair, why am I the only one getting swamped?"
"They know not to mess with me." he said nonchalantly. "That and they've had their focus on me for so long that having a new target excited them." He said with a pleased smile.
"So it's because you're boring, isn't it?." She deadpanned. "They're coming for me because they've finally figured out that you're boring."
"That's an oversimplification."
"It really isn't. Unless you're with your friends, you don't really do anything."
"Doing something would make them pay even more attention to me." he stated as if it was the simplest logic. "Anyways I came to help."
"I don't see how you can, they follow me everywhere." she looked over her shoulder to see them still approaching.
"I know one place they'll never enter. You still good to run?"
"Like I have a choice." And they took off together to the ground floor. Konan noted just how long that hallway was, she'd had an entire conversation with Itachi and the students still hadn't caught up to them. Weird. As they ran down the stairs they could hear someone calling for the photographers for the school paper, and like shinobi, they appeared at the bottom of the stairs in a cloud of smoke. Cameras ready and snapping away at them. Itachi saw an opening, grabbed Konan and picked her up, jumped on to the railing and leaped clean over the photographers.
Everything moved in slow motion, the students' jaws dropped at the brilliant athletic display, Konan holding on as tightly as she could, and the photographers getting every second of it. Konan facepalmed knowing that their pictures taken just now were, without a doubt, going to be on the front page of the school paper. He landed perfectly and continued running with Konan in his arms. They could see their destination but Konan was confused by it.
"The music room? They can follow us inside, Itachi."
"Just trust me." He said confidently and skidded to a halt just outside the door and waited for them to catch up. He wanted Konan to see for herself what he'd meant. As soon as the crowd of students saw which room they were outside of, they began to slow down. Itachi casually walked inside and to her absolute surprise, no one followed them inside.
"I don't get it, why'd they stop?" she asked
"Because he's always in here."
"Who's always—
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the hottest couple in school." Someone spoke from the end of the room.
Itachi turned around, Konan hadn't even noticed that there was someone else in the room. He had long black hair that was loose and tattoos that made his arms look like they had stitches all over them.
"Hey, Kakuzu." He greeted.
"That was quite an entrance, carrying your girlfriend in here like that."
"We're not together." He clarified and gently put her down.
"Hold on a second, no one's coming in here because of him? Are they afraid of him or something. Seriously? I could take him." She eyed him suspiciously.
"Feisty." He looked at her. "Anyways what are you two doing here?" he began tuning his bass guitar.
"I'm assuming you know about our song?"
"Ha, I'd be surprised if anyone didn't know about it."
"Well Konan and I are starting a band and we could use a bass player."
"You know I don't work for free, Itachi."
"I thought you'd say that." He pulled out a thick wad of money and dropped it on the table in front of him. Kakuzu immediately stopped what he was doing and flipped through the notes.
"What the hell! Were you carrying that on you this whole time? And wait a second, how come you never bribed me?" Konan asked completely shocked by the huge amount of money he'd just given away without a second thought.
"I didn't think you were in it for the money."
"That's because I didn't know there would be any money. Sheesh if I knew you'd be throwing around cash like that I'd have given you a harder time." She pouted.
"Alright, I'm in. Keep the money coming in like this and I'll stay as long as you like."
"Hopefully not too long…" Konan said under her breath.
"Listen here, Konan was it? I go wherever the money resides and right now that's your boyfriend."
"He's not my—whatever, are we done here, Itachi?"
"Yes, now that we have Kakuzu on board we can focus on getting the rest of the members. There's someone else I have in mind."
"Actually I have two people in mind as well, they don't play instruments but they'll be vital to our success." She had a confident smile on her face.
"Okay I guess we part ways for now, meet back here in thirty minutes." Itachi said on his way out. "Oh wait, what about the fans following you everywhere?"
"Oh don't worry about me, I have a plan for that." She answered without a care in the world. Itachi didn't know what she had planned but he trusted she could handle it so he left without another word.
Xxx
Pin cushions, needles, accessories, canvas and drawing supplies, fabrics and materials of various colours and patterns, measuring equipment and sewing machines. The fashion design room was large and filled with racks and racks of clothes designed by students.
Taking one last look at the dress he'd just finished putting together, the blonde designer with cat-eye lashes, was pleased with his work.
"How's the cape coming along, Sasori?" Deidara asked
"It's just about finished." The red head walked over to where Deidara was sitting carrying a long light material cape, he'd placed it over the mannequin.
"It's perfect, now if only we had someone to model—
"Hey guys." Konan greeted cheerily from right next to them.
"Konan, I didn't see you come in." Sasori remarked
"That's because I didn't come in through the door." She stated
The two designers looked at each other then back at her.
"Then how did you get in here?" Deidara asked
"Through the window." She began walking around the room looking at all the clothes.
"The window? But we're on the second floor." Deidara expressed incredulously.
"Okay and..?" she failed to see what the problem was.
"There's no way you could have climbed up! And why would you even do that? It's completely ridiculous."
"Why are you getting so worked up? I couldn't walk through the school because I'm avoiding everyone following me so, I left through the window from the music room and climbed up here. It was pretty simple."
Deidara walked over to the window and looked out. It seemed impossible to do but the fact that she was here now, unscathed, meant she'd done it. He sighed and gave up on trying to understand.
"Anyways, I'm here for a favour."
"Yes, we'll be the visuals and design team for the band." Sasori cut in, now busy sketching something at the desk.
"Although we do have one condition." Deidara added
"Which is?"
"You have to wear our new design for the rest of the day today."
"I had a feeling you'd say that. Okay so where is it." She knew them too well. It was how they'd become friends in the first place. Back when they started high school, the two of them had approached her after school when they'd seen her walking down the corridor. They said she'd be the perfect model for an outfit they'd created and asked her to try it on. She agreed and wore the exquisite evening gown they'd made and from then onwards, she'd worn countless designs of theirs and the three of them became good friends.
"Right here." Sasori handed her the dress and cape and sent her off to the changing room.
A few minutes later Konan emerged wearing a lavender knee length, a-line, thin strap, v neck dress. She wore long gold cuff bracelets and gold sandal heels. But what really made the look standout was the high neck lavender cape that reached the floor. The material was light and danced as she twirled in it. Konan took a look at herself in the mirror.
"This is gorgeous." She exclaimed excitedly looking at herself from different angles. "I might never give this back, just letting you know now." she'd just noticed that that was the second time she'd said she would keep something that didn't belong to her, First Itachi's piano and now this. This better not be my criminal record origin story, she thought to herself while still admiring the outfit.
"Wear it in the music video and you can keep it." Deidara chimed in
"Music video? You want me and Itachi to make a music video for our song? And you want me to wear this?"
"Not just this one, that dress is one of four outfits we made."
"It's only been a few days, how'd you already create outfits for a never-before discussed music video?"
"You underestimate our skills and passion for our art." Sasori smirked
The two of them had agreed to join the group and Konan went back to the music room to meet up with Itachi. And this time she left through the door, to her dismay, Deidara and Sasori wouldn't let her leave the way she came in. Luckily for her though there was no one around, so her walk back was uneventful.
Konan walked into the room to find Itachi, Kakuzu and someone she'd seen around campus but never spoken to. Sharp teeth and bluish skin, it was Kisame with them and she immediately understood.
"So I take it Kisame is going to manage us?" she walked to the group.
"Yes he is—woah Konan, I'm pretty sure you weren't wearing that when we left." Itachi just noticed her new look.
"What do you think?" she posed in it. "This is one of four outfits our design team has already created. Deidara and Sasori are in."
"A design team, well done. Everything's really coming together."
"See, you're not the only one with tricks." Konan said proudly
It was during lunch time that the six of them sat together and discussed how many more members they needed. They decided that ten members sounded good, even if everyone didn't play an instrument or sing, the behind-the-scenes rolls could be fulfilled by the others. So that left four more members to find, Kakuzu suggested Hidan. He was a little crazy, okay more than a little but, the grey haired man was exceptionally good at persuading people to do what he wanted. And what that really meant was that he would threaten to sacrifice them in a ritual if they didn't buy and wear the shirts he'd made with the phrase "The way of Jashin" printed on them. He'd be great at selling merch, wouldn't he? Hidan was into an odd religious cult and while no one really believed he'd sacrifice them, no one wanted to risk it. What people didn't know about him was that he was amazing at the electric guitar, in fact any guitar that came his way he could play. Both of his skills would be an asset for the Akatsuki.
"The hell is this? You guys some kind of band or something?"
"Why yes actually, we're still thinking of a name but we're here to ask you to join us." Konan asked him in the school parking lot at the end of the day.
"You sure you're not part of a cult too because—
"Yes I'm sure, now what's your answer?" he'd asked her that question two times already and she didn't want to give him a third chance. He mulled it over for a bit, he wasn't really looking to join a band, no matter how good a guitar player he was but, he was curious. Maybe they really were a cult and Konan was trying to keep it from him plus, gaining more attention meant he could sell more shirts. He agreed to join.
Zetsu and Tobi were their latest additions. Zetsu was great with a camera and knew the ins and outs of the music charts and industry in general. It also didn't hurt that he could play the cello and violin but he preferred being the camera work and agreed to handle the social media side of the group.
Tobi was wildly good at the drums and just happened to overhear them talking about a band and decided to join.
It was almost three in the afternoon when the group was headed to the Uchiha Estate, Konan and Sasori were driving the members in their cars. As soon as they turned the corner to his street, Hidan, in the back seat, smooshed his face against window in awe. Konan saw him in the rear view mirror and suppressed a laugh. She knew what was coming. Itachi, sitting in the front seat, saw her reaction and sighed.
"Holy shit! You live here!" he was trying to take in as much as he could. "You're not secretly a prince or something are you, Itachi? Wait am I expected to curtsey?" he peeled his face from the window and looked at him. Itachi could see the mischievous gleam in Konan's eyes and raised his hand to stop her from saying anything before she made things worse for him.
"No you won't have to and no I'm not a prince."
The group settled in the main living room area downstairs, Mikoto had brought out food and drinks for them to enjoy.
"Okay now that we know what everyone is doing we still need to address two more things." Itachi set his galss down. "One, we're still one member short and two, we still haven't chosen a group name."
"I think I can help you with both of those problems." everyone turned to the entrance where they'd heard the voice from. Walking towards the group with a confident smirk was a man with orange spiky hair and face and ear piercings. "Your tenth member has arrived and as for the name," He helped himself to one of the sandwiches on the tray on the coffee table "How about, The Akatsuki."
Boom! Dramatic entrance for Pain and that concludes chapter two. A good majority of this was totally improvised but I like how it turned out so here we are, haha. Let me know what you think XD.
Well that's it from me-
Until the next chapter:
