Well, we're in the last strech. And I bet y'all didn't see this coming!
Let The Chaos Ensue…
Kaneki and Hide woke up in an alleyway of a bustling city, just as they were stirring, members of SHIELD were arriving. The first thing Kaneki noticed was the damage he'd caused to Hide's face, was gone, he looked the same as he remembered him before Amon and that Kuki Uri had done him in.
Well, what really did him in was the massive amounts of RC suppressants.
What mattered now was that he was back in the dimension he wanted to be, and that Fury probably wanted an explanation.
Hide was asking a million questions as they made their way via scramble jet to the helicarrier. Kaneki was just trying to keep him quiet long enough to get back to avengers tower, then find Loki and get his team back.
Finally making it to the briefing room, Fury spoke.
"What happened? Whose this? Where did you go? Where are the others?"
"You're not gonna like it," Kaneki said.
"Spit it out."
"Well, during our fight with Loki, he transported us back to Tokyo. But not just any Tokyo, my Tokyo."
"The one with…"
"All the ghouls, doves and CCG, Yes."
"This is my childhood friend Hide, who was stupid enough to get between me and a brat with a powerful kagune. We were both killed, and we woke up here. The others are still there, but they are safe. I put them under the protection of the CCG… That's kinda how I died," he said, cracking his first finger.
"So how did you die?"
Kaneki sat at a table, with an IV drip of RC surpressents flowing into his arm. He kept his kagune within metaphorical arms reach as Amon and a young man he didn't recognize came in. They muttered to each other when the door opened again.
A man his age, wearing a simple mask, with chestnut hair came in, his eyes aglow to see his best friend, he gave a simple wave as he sat down.
"Hi, Kaneki." Hide said, his voice muffled by the mask.
The one in question stared back, his eyes wide as he looked at his supposedly 'dead' friend. "H-hide," The innocence he'd lost so many years ago came back into his voice.
"Crazy right, you probably didn't think I survived, huh?"
"What… what happened?" His dark tone returned, as if it were never gone. "I went to your grave this morning!"
"Well, the CCG wanted all the ghouls at Anteiku to think I was dead, kept me in whiteness protection. I told them it wasn't necessary," he laughed. "But you know how stubborn they can be."
"Hide, what happened? Before Arima killed me?"
"Do you seriously not remember?"
"Is there even a point to this?" Uri butt in, being rude and untactful as usual.
Kaneki flashed his kakugan and growled. "I may be hooked up to represents, but that doesn't mean I can't still kill you."
Hide laughed. "Man, that time with aogiri really did do a number on you, didn't it."
The one chained to the desk relaxed slightly, and scoffed. "You have no idea. So tell me, what happened."
Uri just rolled his eyes and slumped against the wall.
"During your fight, you were… really weak." Hide sighed and took off his mask, revealing scarred tissue around his neck and his entire lower jaw and upper lip were gone, showing his skeletal structure of those areas.
Realization dawned onto Kaneki, Horror spelled on his face as Hide replaced the mask.
"I don't blame you, first of all you thought I was dead. Second… eh, you kinda go psycho when you're ghoul hungry," he laughed. "You were always the type to be hangry."
Kaneki was still reeling, and Uri was disgusted.
"Why would you forgive him for something like that?!" He burst.
"Because it wasn't Kaneki's fault, none of what happened was his fault."
"This psychopath murdered hundreds of people. Ghouls and humans alike."
"Don't talk about something you know nothing about," Kaneki growled.
"Everyone knows about it, you're the reason people like me exist," Uri said, forcing his own kakugan.
Kaneki was a bit surprised to see another one eyed ghoul.
"Yeah, but you don't have to eat human flesh to survive," Amon pointed out with a laugh.
"Oh sure, he gets the best part of being a ghoul, being powerful and having a laughed, but not having to be a cannibal to survive. At least you got to choose, I woke up and didn't even know what had happened to me, after almost being killed by a ghoul," Kaneki spat. "You know nothing!" He yelled.
What happened next wasn't important, they yelled, they argued, all the while Kaneki felt he was still the only one to know, both sides have a story. The only thing that mattered was that things got out of control, things got heated, and the one eyed ghoul, and his best friend, were once again dead to the world.
Kaneki had just finished his story when Steve burst in, asking a million questions.
"Steve?" Kaneki asked, genuinely confused. "Fury I thought you said they were still missing.
"They are," he said cautiously. "Steve didn't go missing."
"Steve was with us the whole time…" it was a moment after that, that Kaneki dropped his head back. "Loki…" he growled.
