Chapter 16: Lawyers and Training
She looked through the contacts she made at school. She was getting together a game plan for the week to come in regards to one Tatsuya Tsubaki. The girl was a bitch and messed with the wrong person, and to go so far as to try to harm her sister. It was unacceptable. But the contacts she had, none specialized in law. There was tea, tea pots, knives, and everything else, but no lawyers. She sighed and then she heard a knock. She answered to see Naosuke. He came in and closed the door, taking a seat at the table under the stairs. She easily made them tea.
"You look frustrated, ane," he said easily. He sipped the tea and hummed. It tasted of crisp apple and cinnamon. He liked it.
"I am a bit." She sighed and sipped her own tea. "I've looked through all of my contacts, but not a single lawyer." She sighed. "I want to get this over with this week and be done with the witch." He nodded and pulled out his phone. He had deleted and blocked his old friends. They had no back bone when it came to who he thought was his best friend. He pulled himself from those thoughts and looked through his phone. He wasn't having much luck either. The contacts he had didn't deal with laws or anything close to that sort.
"I got nothing. Why don't you ask Kyoya?"
"And have the Ootori lord it over me? I think not." She sighed and dropped her phone on the table. "What's Satsuki's family do?" She looked to him as he thought.
"I believe her mother is a real estate broker and her father owns amusement parks and a few high end arcades." She sighed. "What about that boy you talked to that one day? The one that asked to talk to you alone?"
"I didn't quite get his name or what his family does. I'll have to ask on Monday." She seemed to nod. "If not him, then I might ask Satoshi if he knows any lawyers, or family of lawyers."
"What's with him?" Naosuke asked. "You dating him?"
"No. He is in my class and his grandfather likes the teas I blend. He was trying to convince me to sell a few of my recipes to him." She sipped her tea. "I don't really have such feelings for anyone at the moment." She shrugged and he looked around her room. It was always clean. Everything seemed to have a place in her room. He could see some fabric tucked into a cabinet with other things like ribbon, measuring tape, a pin cushion and thimble. His ane was a weird one. She seemed to have so many hobbies, but when did she have time for it all?
There was a knock at the door and dinner was said to be ready. They left her room just as Nana was leaving her own on her phone. She seemed to be in an argument with one person or another. She knew her sister had several friends, but her best friend seemed to be Satsuki. She didn't even know the name of her other friends, never meeting them. But from the sounds of it, they were trying to convince her imouto to ditch Satsuki's opening night performance to go see a movie with them, and she was telling them no, that Satsuki's performance was more important then watching a movie they had already seen a few days ago. She hung up the phone as they entered the dining room and they took their usual seats before the servants came in to drop off dinner. They ate, Nasaka talking about what she did that day, though she spent the whole day at home. Kagome put Nasaka to bed with a story about the tragic love story of a hanyou and priestess.
Monday rolled around and it found her tracking down the boy that had a crush on her sister. He was surprised to see her. She asked what his family did and he wondered why.
"Well, my mother is a movie executive and father has a successful law firm that mainly handles business deals and things like that." He was confused when her eyes lit up.
"You are exactly who I am looking for then," she said with a smile.
"You know I like Nana," he said, a bit confused.
"Not like that, silly," she said patting his head. "Tatsuya Tsubaki has been pulling nasty pranks on me and went after my precious Nana-imouto, going so far as to attempt to harm her." He saw the shift in her eyes and his blood boiled that someone would dare harm one he cared so much about. She was deadly serious, the look in her eyes promising vengeance. "Recently her family's company has come to face several lawsuits and will be forced to declare bankruptcy soon. Nasty things about their products got leaked." She had a dangerous smirk on her face. "I happen to have come into quite a bit of cash and I am looking to buy them out before they face such a damning situation, but it will ensure Tsubaki never steps foot on these grounds again."
"You need something then, from my father." He was serious.
"Of course, if you set up a meeting for me with your father, I could make it worth your while." She smirked. "Nana has a new favorite dessert. I could help you out with that..."
"Kanaga, Naoto." He held his hand forward. "We have a deal." They shook hands and she held forward a business card. She had them made and convinced her father to have a second line. She had said it was for business purposes and he had agreed. This card had her contact information for the new cell phone. "I'll contact you with a time soon."
"Please make it sometime this week. I want to conclude this business with that family before the weekend." He nodded and they turned and walked away from each other. She still had to get to the table the host club ate at before they got suspicious of her. She took her seat and smiled at them as she opened her bento. Her brother looked to her and she just nodded and he went back to eating as Honey went on about his weekend with Mori, and how they had won another tournament for their family. Lunch ended soon and they went their separate ways.
The end of the day found Satoshi getting into the limo with the Hisagawa siblings. He could see Kagome smiling at her youngest sister, who was going on about her day and how she was wondering if their parents would allow her to have a sleep over, seeing as they had a weekend trip they needed to take, leaving Kagome and her siblings in the mansion by themselves.
"I'll talk to him, alright?" Her sister nodded and cheered. "Now change into your training clothes straight away, okay?"
"Hai, ane!" The limo stopped and they got out, the youngest running off after her bento was taken by a maid.
"Ototo, show Satoshi where to change and take him out back." He nodded and led the older male away while she moved to the back. She was already in her priestess garbs so she didn't need to change quite yet. She entered the backyard to see the dojo she asked for was finally complete. She smiled and entered the structure, her shoes slipping off. She looked around at the traditional dojo. Everything was as she specified. There was steps heard and she came out to see her youngest imouto in a mini version of her garbs. It warmed her heart and she asked the girl to remove her shoes. She did and stepped up into the dojo. Her eyes lit up and smiled.
"This looks great, ane. We get to train here?" She looked around.
"Yes." She turned to see Satoshi and Naosuke had both changed. Both were in workout shirts and running shoes with dri-fit t-shirts. "Naosuke, take him on a run around the path." He seemed to salute and the two males took off down the paved path and through the forest while she warmed up with her sister. She wouldn't have her sister run the path yet, maybe when she got older. The two arrived roughly twenty minutes later, Satoshi out of breath and Naosuke was only slightly winded. She had them slip off their shoes and enter. She started stretches with them, watching them. Nasaka was used to them so didn't complain, but the two males were not flexible at all.
"You're too stiff," she scolded them. "Relax and loosen up, like Nasaka." The girl was leaned forward, her torso resting on the floor between her spread legs. She seemed completely relaxed.
"I'm trying," Naosuke complained, but she pushed down on his back and he seemed to groan in pain.
"At least get a little further closer to the floor. It's not going to hurt you." She pushed down slightly on Satoshi's back and he tried not to whimper in pain. They shifted stretches when Nasaka did, and they were in even more pain. They didn't think it was possible to bend in such ways. "Nasaka, remind me to work on their flexibility at a later date."
"Hai, ane!" She was all smiles. "Are we moving on to meditation now?" She seemed eager.
"Yes, Nasaka. Lotus position." She chimed back brightly and sat. "Copy Nasaka's form," she instructed the two. It took a few minutes but they did. Kagome took her own seat and looked at them. "Close your eyes and clear your mind." She closed her own eyes after she saw the two males do it. She looked to Nasaka to see light blue surrounding her. She smiled. Her sister found it hard to focus and clear her mind the first few times, now she was an expert at it. Her brother seemed to be having a hard time of it. "Think of nothing, Naosuke."
"I'm trying," he grumbled lowly.
"Focus only on your breathing." Satoshi seemed to get it, his pulse and breathing calm, but Naosuke was getting twitchy. "Relax, Naosuke." She closed her eyes. "Find your center." Her voice became quieter. She could feel Satoshi's own spiritual powers rise. It wasn't as bottomless as hers, but she could still feel how vast it was. She could monitor them with her eyes closed, though she doubted Naosuke had spiritual powers. She would have noticed them by now if he had them, but she would still workout with him and train him in fighting. Meditation was part of that. It taught patience and focus. It took weeks for Nasaka to get the focus she had now, afterall. It might be hard for her brother, given his age. Thirty minutes later saw them standing again. "You two wait here. Come Nasaka." The girl followed after her through another set of doors. There was a smaller bow there, targets setup and arrows in two quivers.
"Archery?" She looked confused.
"Yes, sweet one." She picked up her own bow. "Pick up the other bow." She did as directed. "Grab an arrow." Kagome grabbed her own as Nasaka did the same. She showed her the proper stance and how to draw an arrow back. She made slight adjustments to her sister's form before she praised her. "Just like that. Once you empty the quiver, comeback inside, alright?"
"Hai, ane." She focused on her task as Kagome left her to it. She entered and looked at her brother and Satoshi. They were looking away from each other and not saying a word.
"Get into this stance." She moved into the stance then once they took it, she walked around them, correcting things she saw wrong before going back to the front and having them copy her movements. It was the same five moves, but she wanted them to perfect them, wanted their bodies and muscles to remember them. When Nasaka came in was when they stopped. The tips of her fingers were red and she could see where she got caught by the feathered ends.
"Let me see how you did," Kagome said and they followed her to where Nasaka had been. There were arrows everywhere around the target, but there were a fair amount in the target. There was a single arrow in the middle of the target. The little girl looked down at her feet in embarrassment. "Not bad for a first try," Kagome said with a smile. "You'll get better at it, Nasaka. Have faith." She seemed to look at her and nod. "Naosuke, why don't you get cleaned up?" He nodded and left. She sat and signaled for the other two to do the same. "One last thing before we are done, okay?" Nasaka nodded and Satoshi looked like he wanted to just leave. His body was sore and he was tired.
Kagome took Nasaka's hand into her own. "See these?" She pointed to the partially bloody finger tips of her sister. He looked too. He was sure the school would call abuse if they saw them. He looked to see Kagome take a deep breath and then a faint blue light traveled from her hand to the tips of the fingers of Nasaka. He watched as the damage was healed. "Sugoi!" Nasaka was amazed and he thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. "Now Nasaka." She extended the opposite arm and he could see the cuts that littered her inner arm. They looked angry. "Gather your ki into your hand." She brought the girl's hand up that was free and he could see a teal light. He rubbed his eyes. "Now direct it to this line." She pointed at one of the many fine cuts that had stopped bleeding. "Like that, and will your power to heal it." The girl seemed to be concentrating hard, beads of sweat gathering at her temples.
"I can't do it, ane," she almost whined.
"You can. I believe you can. You must believe you can do it too. Now try again." Nasaka was on the verge of tears from frustration when her power finally did what she wanted it to.
"I did it," she whispered as the tears she held back finally crawled down her cheeks.
"Good job." She smiled and turned to him. "Your turn."
"I don't have this power you think I have. This is just a dream," he tried to reason.
"You do and you aren't dreaming. Focus on the energy I know is trapped below the surface." She looked him in the eyes seriously. He decided to humor her and focus. He thought it was pointless, but his hands glowed lavender and he freaked out. He got up and ran from the room, slipping his shoes on in a haste and calling his driver to take him home. She just sighed and shook her head before looking to her sister. "Heal the other cuts while I take care of the ones on your cheek." She placed her glowing hand to her sister's cheek while she concentrated on the ones on her arms. When that was done they headed into the house for dinner. Kagome would run after dinner and wait for a call on both phones. Eiji was sure to be apologizing for his son running out on training. He left his school bag too, so she would have it dropped off by one of the maids.
