A/N: Here is the next chapter of my Dino Charge rewrite. Again, don't be alarmed that this chapter like the one in canon (save for a few changes). They will be more and more different down the line.
Disclaimer: I do not own Power Rangers Dino Charge or Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger. I just own most of the plot and the characters and things you don't recognize from the original versions.
Note: I'm now taking up an initiative to make more of these Inner Monsters female, just so you all know. Just remember, it all started with Curio.

"Fury recruits an Inner Monster to capture the Rangers in order to buy time to find the Ptera Zord before the Rangers do. But the Ptera Zord is not the only thing he has his eyes on."

Power Rangers: Dino Charge REDO
Season 1, Episode 08: Ultimatum
Old Deboth Castle, Amber Beach, California
June 10, 2017
Curio, Wrench, and Poisandra made sure to tell Sledge the real story first, because none of them trusted Fury to tell the truth.
To be honest, their trust in him was always wavering, because Fury was a little too quick to trust Sledge, despite him showing up out of nowhere. But now, this time, their trust in him had shattered completely, because he had let his selfishness get in the way of their mission.
He just had to claim credit over everything, despite it being a group effort.
Now, Sledge had just summoned Fury to the throne room, where they were all waiting.
Wrench had the Ptera Charger now, and he placed it in an energy-reading machine, "Let's test the Ptera Charger." He flipped the switch, but nothing happened, and Wrench sighed, "Yep, it's dead."
"Ha! I knew it!" Poisandra was looking over his shoulder the whole time, and this had just cheered her up considerably. "Fury's a failure, again!"
Fury entered room, seemingly unaware of what was about to happened, "You called me, Master Sledge?"
"Curio, Poisandra, and Wrench all tell me that they had the Rangers' Energem tracker, but you took it from them," Sledge quietly said, which was a clear indication that he was about to blow a gasket.
"That's right," Fury admitted, before growling, "I was bringing it back here, but then that blasted hotshot blew it up!" Just remembering how the Black Ranger took away Fury's chance of ever pleasing Sledge by using the Rangers' greatest weapon against him never failed to piss him off.
"So, what I'm hearing is that it's your fault again, right, Fury?" Sledge growled.
Fury tried his best to defend himself, "I'm sorry, Master, but Poisandra is inexperienced in dealing with the Rangers!" He heard and ignored Poisandra's squeak of protest. "I had to take control of the situation! And now, I know where the Ptera Zord, and with the Ptera Charger, I can control it!"
"Wrong!" Wrench suddenly cut in. "The Ptera Charger you managed to swipe is dead. You couldn't run a vacuum cleaner with it, let alone a Zord!"
Fury snatched the Charger from Wrench's grasp, arguing, "I can recharge it!"
"Wrong again!" Wrench explained. "Only the Gold Energem can recharge it!"
"But we can't find the Energem because you destroyed the tracker!" Poisandra added. "Also, how could you not notice that it had a weak spot?!"
"You've seen the tracker, Wrench," Fury shot back, "so you can rebuild it from memory, can't you?!"
"I need the original sketches to even think about gracing that question with an answer," Wrench was quiet as he said this. "That tracker was a complicated piece of machinery, and you just had to take it for yourself."
"But-!"
Curio cut him off, "We had the tracker, Fury. We were winning, but then you screwed it all up with your selfishness."
"That's it!" Sledge's anger finally blew. "I'm through with you, Fury! Give that to me!" He snatched the Ptera Charger from Fury's grasp. "Get out!" Sledge roared, done with Fury's constant failures and shortcomings.
"But Master Sledge, I have an idea!" Fury tried to defend himself, but Sledge didn't want to hear it, only firing his arm cannon at the lion monster.
Poisandra laughed gleefully at the sight of Fury running away in fear.

After the confrontation with Fury, Sledge had given Wrench the Ptera Charger in the hopes that he could get it to work. While Wrench worked on that, Poisandra and Curio would work on ways they could retrieve the original sketches for the Rangers' Energem tracker.
Without Fury, things were immediately sailing smoothly. Without the threat of him ruining future missions due to his own ego, the others had no problems, and no one missed him or was sad to see him go.
Fury saw this, since he was hiding outside the castle ever since he was kicked out the whole time, so he never truly left. But he was not amused at how their lives seemed to go on without him.
After he saw the birth of a new Inner Monster, Puzzler, who was then placed under Wrench's command, Fury couldn't take it anymore.
He had a plan concerning the Ptera Zord, and he needed to prove to Sledge that he was wrong for kicking out his most valuable General.
Puzzler was a female Inner Monster, who Sledge said was born from a highly-IQ'd student who fears that bullying and peer pressure will never leave them, and even if they still didn't know Sledge knew things like that, they knew that Puzzler's mind-screwing powers would come in handy against the Rangers.
Wrench was currently playing a fairly complex board game with Puzzler during their off-hours, and she was a smart opponent and a nice change to his daily life. If there was any Inner Monster that Wrench enjoyed the prescence of, it was Puzzler, because she was very similar to him in nearly every way (both were logical and preferred to play mind games with their opponents).
"I win again!" Puzzler exclaimed, winning another game against Wrench.
"Wow, you're good," Wrench praised, as Puzzler reset the board. "The score is now Wrench = 7, Puzzler = 9."
"Ah-ha! There it is!" came a familiar, unwelcome growl. Wrench immediately stood up when he saw that it was Fury, holding out his axe.
"What are you doing here, Fury?!" he demanded, as Fury grabbed the Ptera Charger from off the table.
"Wrench, Puzzler, you two come with me!" Fury barked out his orders, despite him no longer being one of Sledge's Generals. "You two are going to help me charge this thing!"
"Okay!" Puzzler cheerly agreed.
Wrench sighed, lowering his axe, "Seriously, Fury, how depraved are you if you're still demanding to be the one in charge?"
"SHUT UP!" Fury yelled, kicking the both out of the room. "The Ptera Zord will be mine!"
He needed to prove that they were the ones in the wrong. Once Sledge accepted him back, then he could stomp Wrench, Poisandra, and Curio into the ground like the dirt they were.

Dino Base, Amber Beach Dinosaur Museum, Amber Beach, California
Riley placed two marbles into two different openings in a marble contraption he built himself. He careful observed both marbles and the paths they took, equations and definitions filling his head as he did so. This was part of his training, the training of his mind, in order to keep himself sharp and logical.
While Riley was doing this, Kendall, Tyler, Shelby, and Koda were trying to salvage what was the left the E-Tracer, if they could.
"Our beautiful E-Tracer, up in smoke..." Shelby sighed, dismally, as Kendall detatched a damaged wire. She, Kendall, and Callie are worked hard on this device, only for them to be forced to destroy it.
"I'm sorry, Shelbs," Tyler apologized, obviously still feeling guilty for causing the whole mess the day before.
"Don't feel bad, Tyler," Kendall cut in. "You made the right choice, according to the situation."
Shelby shot him a smile, as she added, "She's right. No one blames you at all. I certainly don't."
As Tyler returned her rather infectuous smile, Kendall placed the wire down on the lab table, saying, "I have to commend Callie for her thorough thinking."
"How so?" Shelby asked.
"You guys said that the blue button on the side was the weak spot?" Kendall knew this, but she wanted to make sure. She saw Tyler and Shelby both nod. "Well, Chase managed to hit it in just the right spot, that it caused a chain reaction throughout the entire machine, leading to a perfectly-timed overload," she explained.
It was rather was impressive, to be honest, considering Chase's shot was long range, and Callie actually thought all of this through.
The scene was interrupted by a low, yet loud grumbling. Everyone glanced at Koda as the base was struck with an awkward silence
"Sorry," Koda nervously apologized. "I very hungry."
Everyone smiled at him.
"Don't worry, Koda," Kendall reassured him with a gentle smile. "I sent Chase out to get pizza." Koda smiled in relief.
Shelby curiously wondered something aloud, "So, Fury knows where the Ptera Zord is. But the question right now is 'will he tell Sledge'?"
"Sledge doesn't care about the Zord," Kendall politely countered, she and Shelby having a respectful argument, "unless it leads Fury to the Gold Energem. Remember, to Sledge, the Zords are just tools, if set up right, he can use against us, but the Energems are what he really wants."
That was clearly how Sledge operated. He didn't care about the Zords, and he saw the Rangers as pests that got in the way of what he really wanted: the Energems.
"Yeah," Shelby agreed, as Koda and Tyler could only watch, confused, "but now, Fury betrayed Poisandra, Wrench, and Curio, so Sledge can't trust him anymore–"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Tyler quickly cut her off. "I am so confused." Koda nodded his head in agreement. "We know that Sledge's crew has an issue with in-fighting, but I just want to what our next step is."
"I know," Koda spoke up, with a big grin on his face. "First, we eat." He blissfully ignored the others giving him dry looks.
"I think I solved it," Riley spoke from his corner, having overheard what the others were saying. His mind was always working overtime, and he was often able to think about several things all at once. "We need to look at the problem logically."
"How so?" Tyler asked, he and the others walking over to Riley and his machine.
In response, Riley held up three marbles, one for each name he recited, "Sledge, Poisandra, Fury. I know Wrench and Curio exist too, but they don't really seem to have their own motives like the other three do." He placed all three marbles into different slots of his machine, and the group watched as it did its magic.
"Now, they each take their own paths," Riley explained, as the marbles went down their separate paths on his machine, symbolizing how Sledge, Poisandra, and Fury all had different intentions. "Chasing after power, love, maybe revenge. Whatever their motives are, there's one thing that they all need first."
"The Energems," Shelby deduced.
"Exactly," Riley continued, "but their only chance of getting an Energem is with a very powerful weapon, like the Ptera Zord. Different paths, leading to one conclusion..."
"So their next step is powering up the Ptera Charger," Tyler realized. "Therefore, our next step is getting the Ptera Charger back."
"Precisely," Riley nodded, proud that his teammates were smart enough to realize what he meant.
Kendall added, "In that respect, Tyler, there's only one lab like ours with the equipment strong enough to energize a Dino Charger."
"Then, logically, that lab is where we start," Riley concluded.
Tyler smiled, feeling an insane amount of relief that the Rangers knew what to do now.

Abandoned Lab, Amber Beach, California
From the window, Puzzler was watching a couple of children playing a game of life-size chess set in the courtyard of the run-down, abandoned lab building, shut down years ago, that she, Wrench, and Fury were currently stationed in.
"Hey! What are those kids doing?!" Puzzler asked. "How dare they touch my game! What are they doing at an abandoned lab anyway?"
"Puzzler! Get in here!" Fury roared.
"Oh, calm down! I'm coming!" Puzzler forced herself away from the window and to the room Fury and Wrench were preparing for...something. Neither told Puzzler what it was for.
Once she was right outside the mentioned room, Fury reminded her, "You need to make sure the Rangers don't break in." He needed to stall the Rangers long enough while he charged the Ptera Charger and gained control of the Ptera Zord.
"What could possibly be of use to you in this old lab?" Puzzler asked, confused. The Lab had been shut down for several years, after all. The dust bunnies in this place had culminated enough to form their own empires, for crying out louder!
"No more questions, game board! If you let anyone in here, I'll use your bones to charpen by sword!" Fury threatened.
"Knock it off, Fury!" Wrench yelled from inside the room. "Just keep the Rangers busy, Puzzler! That's it!" His orders were given in a way that was much nicer and less threatening than the way Fury gave his, which Puzzler honestly appreciated.
"Don't worry, Masters Fury and Wrench!" Puzzler agreed. "No one can outsmart me! The Puzzler never loses!"
After Fury watched Puzzler walk away, he went back inside the room, where Wrench had just pulled a tarp off all the old equipment in the lab. As he pulled it off, dust flew up and filled the air, causing Wrench to cough.
"This is insane, Fury!" he said, not afraid to stand up for himself. "You are utterly crazy to actually think that you can energize a Dino Charger with this old medical equipment that no one's used in years!"
But Fury was ready to finally put his plan into action. "Shut up and just hook the Ptera Charger up to energize!" he commanded as he sat down in the old medical chair.
Wrench sighed, "You never listen to me, do you, nitwit? This old machine probably doesn't even work. It could blow you up. It could blow me up. In the very least, it could fall apart as soon as I turn it on."
"Just turn it on! This is the only way to recharge the Ptera Charger without bringing the Rangers in on it!"
Wrench rolled his eyes, "Fine." He took the Ptera Charger and quickly got to work.
He didn't really trust Fury, but part of Wrench did want to see if the Ptera Charger would actually charge up by this method. That was the only reason why he was doing this, despite it being against Sledge's orders.
Because Fury's plan was to charge the Ptera Charger using his own life energy.
Meanwhile, Fury laid down on the medical bench, ready to put his plan into action. This plan had a pretty good chance at failing, to be honest, with detrimental consequences if it did.
But that was a risk he was willing to take, because its success would be worth it.

Puzzler walked down the hallway, and wiped off the dirt off a window and looked out to see the children still playing chess in the courtyard. "They're still playing? Ha, amateur move!" She criticized the children and the moves they were making. She sighed, "It's not that complicated! Move the bishop! The bishop!"
The child she was screaming at moved the knight, further irritating her.
"No! No! No! So illogical!" Puzzler burst out of the building as the two kids simply stared at her with wide eyes, "Who taught you to play?! Those are the worst moves I've ever seen!"
The kids simply ran away, screaming as Puzzler yelled, "What's wrong?! Can't handle the truth?!"
Meanwhile, Chase was skateboarding down the sidewalk, balancing several boxes of pizza for the others as he did so. Though, to be frank, he knew that most of the pizza would be claimed by Koda and his seemingly bottomless stomach.
Just then, the two kids ran past him, causing him to fall off his skateboard, with the pizza landing next to him on the pavement, ruining his hard work for the past hour.
Chase angrily took off his helmet and threw it to the side, sarcastically shouting at the kids, "Hey! Thanks a lot!"
They were just kids, so he could let it slide, but seriously, he was hungry, and he knew the others were too.
But someone shouting after the kids, "Yeah, go ahead and run, you scaredy cats!" Chase turned around to see a maze-like monster standing there.
"Inner Monster," he breathed, before pulling out his Dino Comm, "Guys, I'm going to need some back-up here!" He then hung up and ran over to fight the monster. "Stop!"
He performed a sideflip and then a roundhouse kick at the monster, and Chase was surprised to see that monster holding their own rather well.
"Who are you?" Puzzler asked. "Their babysitter?!"
Chase caught Puzzler's staff, "You owe the Rangers the new lunch."
"You're a Ranger?" Puzzler asked, before exclaiming, "Uh-oh!" She snatched her staff back from him, causing Chase to spin around.
"What are you doing here?" Chase asked.
"If you were as smart as me, you wouldn't have to ask!"
AKA: I'm not telling you.
Puzzler charged at Chase, attempting to hit him with her staff, but he easily caught it and kicked her in the stomach. But he didn't hit hard enough, because Puzzler managed to throw Chase to the side, causing him to land on the life-sized chess board.
She charged at him again, but the Black Ranger grabbed a pawn and struck at the monster, causing her to stumble.
"Don't you know?! Pawns always lose!" Puzzler exclaimed, as she charged at the Ranger, but Chase ducked underneath to avoid it. "Time to crown you!" She yelled as she picked up a queen and went after Chase. Chase managed to evade her, but Puzzler got the best of him, hitting him and causing him to fall back. "Checkmate!" Puzzler cheered. "Now to destroy you!"
Puzzler was about to charge forward, but was stopped when a female yelled out, "Chase!"
Chase looked back to see the other four Rangers running towards him, and he smiled.
Meanwhile, Puzzler panicked. "Yikes! More Rangers! That's not what I wanted!" She quickly ran inside the building, hoping to throw them off.
"You okay?" Koda asked Chase as he stood in front of the group, protectively.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Chase replied as Tyler helped him back on his feet.
"This is the same lab that Kendall mentioned," Shelby realized. "If an Inner Monster is here, that must mean that Fury's in there with the Ptera Charger."
"Then let's go pay him a visit!" Tyler said, before running inside, the others quickly following him.
But Chase was held by back by Koda, who asked, "Pizza?"
"Sorry, mate," Chase apologized, patting his friend on the shoulder, before running inside to help the others. Koda frowned, before following, trying to ignore his grumbling stomach as he did so.
~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~
Puzzler knew that the Rangers would follow her inside, so she decided to avoid the exhaustion of predicted the moves of all five by taking them all out at once.
Because, "One of me against five of them?! Those odds are ilogical!"
Once inside, the Rangers were quickly faced with the decision on which way to go.
"Look at this place," Shelby exclaimed. "It's like no one's been here for years."
"We have to find that lab," Tyler said. "And fast."
They needed to hurry. Every second they wasted meant another second Fury could use to find the Ptera Zord before them.
"Let's split up," Riley suggested, and the five Rangers went in different directions, hoping to find the lab Kendall mentioned faster if they did so.
Meanwhile, Puzzler replaced the closed door behind into a wall, and chuckled, "Time to play a game, Rangers." She went up to a sign that led to an exit, and used her staff to alter it. "Good luck finding your way out, Rangers."
She then ran down the hall, hiding a door along the way, before coming upon a spiral staircase, where a map of the building was nailed to the wall. She stopped when she realized something, "Of course! I can change it all at once." She used her staff to make the following changes to the map, which made the same changes to the actual building as she did so, "A dead end here, a false turn there. This maze will keep the rangers trapped forever."
In no time at all, the map was now an inescapable maze.
"And to make the game more interesting, perhaps a bit of a freeze!" Puzzler giggled as she turned the nearby thermostat down and froze it, making it impossible to change it back.
Hopefully, this would buy enough Fury and Wrench enough time to succeed in their plan, whatever it was.
Puzzler quickly ran up the stairs, confident that she didn't forget anything.

Riley entered the room just as Puzzler left, narrowly missing her.
He moved a curtain, expecting to see a window, only to see a wall of bricks where the window shoulder. "That's odd..." he commented, confused.
His eyes then landed on the map, a fire exit plan. He closely examined, only to see than every turn led to a dead end.
"What..? That doesn't make any sense," he commented.
~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~
"Shelby? Chase?" Tyler called out, trying to look for his friends.
He went inside a room, only to come out of a door at the end of the same hall he just came from.
This was not lost to him, "Same hallway?"
~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~
Tyler wasn't the only one who was confused.
Shelby went up a flight of stairs, and as she went up the next set, she found herself coming upon the same set of stairs she just climbed.
"Third floor again? No way," she glanced around confused. Was she really just running around in circles?

Chase was running down a hallway that seemed to have no end, but stopped when he took a glance ran past Room 14b for the third time.
"You're kidding me," he commented.
Now that he had stopped running, however, he was able to realize how cold it was getting.

Koda ran into a room that just happened to house a vending machine, with food still inside, specifically a cookie in plastic packaging. This was when he appetite took over, which was hard to ignore when his stomach was growling, demanding to be fed.
"Cookie..." he said, almost mesmerized.
He shook the vending machine, hoping that the shaking would force a cookie out, but he intead shook it hard enough to start it back up. He reached inside the vending machine to get the cookie out, only to come up short.
He felt inside his pockets, only to find them empty. He didn't have an money, and his stomach continued grumbling as he looked longingly at the cookie.

Riley walked down the stairwell as he felt the temperature starting to drop. "Whoa, why is it so freezing in here?" As he stood there, he suddenly realized that he had already climbed these stairs. "What a second, I've been here before. I was just here," he said, before going back to the fire exit plan, wondering if this was some kind of looping maze.
He examined his surroundings, trying to figure out what to do, "Come on, Griffin, think outside the box." His eyes then landed on an air vent, and a lightbulb went off in his head. "That's it!" He opened the air vent, and his mind immediately got to work, equations and definitions filling his head once more.
He then pulled out his Dino Comm, and called his friends, "Guys, can you hear me? Guys? Tyler? Shelby?"
"I'm here, but I have no idea where 'here' is..." Tyler sounded like he was shivering. "And it is...so cold..."
"I keep running up the same stairway," Shelby said, starting to feel the cold too, "trying to keep warm."
"I'm going down a hallway that has no end," Chase replied. "And I'm freezing too."
"I still hungry," Koda told them. Riley mentally noted that Koda didn't sound like he was freezing, and he assumed that it was because Koda was a caveman that was frozen in a galicer for 100,000 years, so he was probably used to the cold by now.
~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~
Unknowingly to the Rangers, Wrench had hooked up both Fury and the Ptera Charger to the old medical equipment. "Last chance to back out," he said. "Once I turn it on, there's no turning back."
"Do it!" Fury growled.
Wrench turned on the equipment as Fury roared in pain, feeling the energy being starting to force its way out of him. Wrench was quick to observe that the energy coming from Fury was charging the Ptera Charger, and he realized that the mentioned energy being inserted into the Charger was coming from the energy being itself.
"What in the world?" Wrench asked himself, in awe of what he was seeing.
~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~
Meanwhile, Riley had a plan and he needed to tell his teammates all at once, "Listen, I found a way out. We need to-" but he cut himself when he saw that he was starting to lose connection. "Guys? Guys! Tyler? Shelby? Koda? Chase?" That was when he saw the connection cut off completely.
This intrigued him, because if it was due to the building being abandoned, then he wouldn't have made a connection with the others in the first place. So, if it wasn't the state of the lab itself, why else would the connection have failed just now?
He had to find out, but he also had to get out. So, Riley took a deep breath and climbed into the vent in front of him. Just like he suspected, it seemed like Puzzler, in the midst of changing everything, she just forgot to change the vents too.
Her mistake.
As he crawled through the vents, he stopped when he heard familiar growling, and Wrench saying, "I can't beleive it's working! The Ptera Charger is actually gaining power! It's almost full!"
Riley crawled through the vents until he got to the nearest vent opening and looked through the grate, and what he saw was interesting.
Wrench and Fury were using a bright golden energy to charge the Ptera Charger.
"I can't control it much longer!" Fury cried out, as this strange being was doing anything and everything in its power to get out of Fury's grasp.
"Just a little bit more," Wrench said, noting that the Charger need just a bit more energy to be fully operational.
Unknown to them, Riley was watching the whole thing.
"Turn it off!" Fury cried, as he disconnected himself from the equipment.
"It worked!" Wrench exclaimed, as he took the Ptera Charger out of the power source.
"The Ptera Charger," Riley quietly gasped when he saw the tiny object in Wrench's hands, finally understand what the two were up to, and why Puzzler was here at all (Shelby was right).
"Give me the Charger!" Fury commanded as he snatched the Ptera Charger out of Wrench's hands.
"Excuse you! No need to be so rude!" Wrench cried out as Fury left the room, but as soon as Fury left, Wrench couldn't help but wonder what he just saw, "What just happened?"
By seeing this, Riley had observed and realized three things.
One: The machine Wrench and Fury were using was what caused the connection to be cut off earlier, specifically it being turned on and being activated.
Two: That golden energy being must've been what Tyler and Callie saw. He'd have to follow up later, just to make sure.
But worst of all, Three: Fury was now one step closer to getting the Ptera Zord. The Rangers had to hurry.
~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~
Seaview Ridgeway, Amber Beach, California
Callie was blissfully unaware of what the Rangers were currently going through right now, and of how much closer Fury was to the Ptera Zord.
She was currently in the same place where she found Tyler yesterday. She had promised that she would find Tyler's bracelet, so Tyler didn't have to, so he could instead focus on more important things, much more pressing issues (like Fury in the most prime position to control the Ptera Zord). This was the least she could do for him right now.
Unbeknowest to her, as she was searching for the familiar black leather cord with the silver anchor charm, a large figure was stalking her from the shadows.

Abandoned Lab, Amber Beach, California
The first thing Riley heard when he exited the vent and found himself on the roof was Puzzler saying, "Who said that life isn't all fun and games?" Riley peered carefully around the corner and saw Puzzler relaxing in a lounge chair, enjoying a classic vacation drink.
Riley immediately went back into his hiding place when he heard Fury roar, "I told you to guard the building!"
"Way ahead of you, boss," Puzzler was unfazed. "The Rangers are currently trapped in my never-ending maze!"
Riley saw Fury and Puzzler regroup, and listened carefully to what they were saying.
"Good work," Fury replied. "Once I get the Ptera Zord, I'll have the Rangers begging for mercy, and Sledge will beg for me to come back! Finally, he'll understand that I should be his most trusted General!"
So that was Fury's motives, Riley realized. Callie was the one who told them about their enemies' in-fighting. This morning, he didn't give any thought as to the reasons why, only attributing it all to them having different motives. Here, he had realized that maybe they should try to understand those motives in order to understand why their enemies were fighting amongst themselves.
Riley was a logical person, mostly because any and all emotion he showed in the past was met with bullies and people who just wanted to see him knocked down a peg or two.
He loved his family, and how understanding they were of his goals, but the other Rangers were the ones who had started to make him appreciate emotions again.
Riley's Dino Comm went off, and he immediately answered it, "Miss Morgan!" He kept his voice quiet, because Fury and Puzzler were still here, talking.
"Riley, what's going on?" Kendall asked him. "I haven't been able to contact any of you for the past hour!" Had it really been that long? Apparently, time didn't really exist in the abandoned lab that was right below his feet.
"Long story," Riley told her. "I'll tell you later. Listen, I found the Ptera Charger. But Fury has it, and it's full of power."
She didn't let him finish, "You've got to get that Charger-"
He cut her off, "But the others are trapped. I have to-!"
"Riley!" she gently argued. "You may not get another chance. You said it yourself this morning. We've got to do what's logical. And right now, that means stopping Fury."
"Time for me to get the Ptera Zord!" Fury exclaimed, as Riley tried to decide what to do.
"Riley?" Kendall asked, right before Riley hung up on her.
Riley continued to hide when he heard Fury coming. "Don't let those Rangers out!" Fury said, as he left.
He knew that Kendall was trying to call him again, but he couldn't let her interrupt his thought process. Riley Griffin had a choice to make.
Could he really sacrifice his teammates in order to get to Fury before the lion monster could claim the Ptera Zord? Riley knew that the temperature in the build right below his feet was getting colder and colder by the second. Eventually, the others wouldn't be able to hold on for much longer.
If he chose to save the other Rangers, then the Ptera Zord would be in Fury's hands. But if he chose to go after Fury, then he would never see the others again.
No more Tyler and his optimism...
No more Shelby and her stubborness...
No more Chase and his trustworthiness...
No more Koda and his naivety...
The coast was clear now, and Riley knew exactly what it was that he had to do, what the right choice was.
"I can't leave my friends..." he resolved. "Don't worry, guys. I'll get you out."

Still inside the abandoned lab, Shelby continued to climb the same flight of stairs. She had quickly lost track of time, but she was determined to keep warm. "Gotta...keep...warm..." she breathed out, seeing her breath as frost started forming on the railings and windows.
Chase was sitting in the hallway, having zipped up his jacket. "Riley? Kendall? Anybody?" he tried to use his Dino Comm, trying to get ahold of anyone, but the device was frozen solid, actual ice covering a majority of it.
Tyler was walking down the same hallway he had found himself trapped in, rubbing his arms as icicles formed on the piping.
Meanwhile, after struggled, Koda finally retreived the quarter he had found underneath the vending machine. He smiled as he stood up and put the quarter inside and got the cookie. He wiped the frost from the glass, waiting for the cookie to come out, but it got stuck.
Koda simply looked with disappointment, completely unfazed by the cold.

While the other Rangers fought to stay warm, Puzzler was simply relaxing until a Dino Saber was pointed straight at her neck.
"Let my friends go or you're history," Riley growled, a steely, determined glare on his face.
Puzzler, however, was unfazed. She took off the sunglasses she had gone, "That would be illogical. If you destroy me, your friends will become ice cubes."
Riley was quiet as he processed this. Puzzler was right. That would be an illogical move. Alright, time for something else.
Puzzler got to her feet. "Perhaps, we can solve this rationally. I challenge you to a game," she suggested. To be honest, this was exactly what Riley was thinking of. He had a plan. "If you win, your friends go free. But, if I win, I get your Energem."
Riley hesitated, his hand immediately closing around the crystal around his neck, still holding his Saber at the monster.
It's okay, Riley. You know exactly what you're risking. Besides, you've got a plan, remember?
"It's never right for someone to change the core of who they are just because someone else doesn't like them that way," Matt had told him once, after an encounter Riley had with his primary bully, Burt, in third grade. "Trust me, I know it's hard, but if you let bullies have power over you, it's only going to hurt you more."
Riley also remembered Callie advising them during their first fight with Iceage, before Riley himself knew who Callie was, not to trust anything an Inner Monster says. She was right, from a logical standpoint especially, because there was no guarantee that Puzzler would actually let his friends go if Riley did win.
Hence his secret plan.
And taking his brother's words to heart, maybe there was a chance where his logic and emotions could live together in harmony.
Riley inhaled deeply, then exhaled slowly, in order to clear his mind, and said, "Challenge accepted."

Meanwhile, Fury came upon an open field, searching for the Ptera Zord.
"That heart-shaped freak is in for a surprise when I show up in the Ptera Zord!"
He didn't just want to prove his worth as a General to Sledge, but also to Poisandra that she was useless in every aspect of her life.

Riley and Puzzler's game was well under way. It was a variation of chess that very similar to Star Trek's three-stage chess set, except these pieces were transluscent and brightly colored.
To be honest, due to watching every Star Trek episode at least three times, Riley had picked up the game rather quickly and was holding his own against Puzzler quite well.
Riley's dad did say that he picked things up faster than anybody else his age. Even without his Energem, Riley Griffin was definitely a force to be reckoned with.
"You are clearly no match for my superior intellect," Puzzler boasted as she made a move with one of her orange pieces.
"Yeah, I can see I'm in way over my head here," Riley flatly shot back, as he moved one of his green pieces.
"What? How'd I miss that?" Puzzler asked, and she said, "Perhaps, I underestimated your abilities, Green Ranger. But rest assured, from now on, I will stay several moves ahead of you. With my superior intellect, there is no way you should ever beat me!"
As Puzzler rambled on and was distracted by the game, Riley took this chance to measure the distance between him and the vents in front of as well as behind him. This was his plan. He snuck four marbles out of his pocket and swiftly threw one into each vent when Puzzler's back was turned.
Each of the other four Rangers knew Riley and his marbles like the back of their hands by now. They knew Riley and how he operated. He had no doubt that they'd be able to figure out how to get out, using the marbles as a wayfinder.
"Hah, look at that! Your pieces are wide open. Amateur!" Puzzler exclaimed, as Riley quickly flicked two more marbles into the vents.
Riley moved another one of his piece, not saying anything.
Puzzler screeched, "Another illogical move!" While Puzzler was focused on the game, Riley threw the fourth marble in the vent behind him.
~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~
The marbles quickly traveled through the vents and made it to where Chase was huddled up against the wall, within his jacket. He heard a small clacking sound, and he looked up to see a marble gently knocking against his shoe. He picked it up and quickly realized what it meant. He looked up at the vent above him, and smiled, "Riley, you beauty..."
The cold was starting to take a toll on Shelby, who could only crawl up the stairs at this point. As she crawled, a marble landed in front of her. She desperately clutched it, "Riley's marble..." Shelby looked up and noticed a vent right above. "Riley!" Shelby shivered as a smile appeared on her face, her body filling with hope that was warm enough for let her keep going.
Tyler had no more energy left, simply laying in the middle of the hallway he'd been trapped in since the start. He was trying his best to fight the cold, frost covering him from head to toe. The icicle above him started to break before falling, and Tyler quickly moved out of the way, but still could not find the energy to keep moving. As he laid there, a marble landed right in front of him. Tyler held the marble in his hand as he looked up and saw a vent above him. "Riley..." Tyler breathed out in relief.
Koda was just sitting beside the vending machine, playing with the take out port, upset that all his effort to get the cookie was wasted. A marble rolled next to him, and he picked it up, looking around to see where it came from, before his eyes fell on the vent above him. With one jump, Koda pushed the boxes out of his way and into the vent.
Unfortunately, he noticed that all the boxes he knocked over were filled with loads of cookies. He groaned, looking at the cookies longingly as his stomach growled.
~B~R~E~A~K~~T~H~E~~C~H~A~I~N~S~~T~H~A~T~~D~I~V~I~D~E~~D~I~N~O~~C~H~A~R~G~E~~R~E~D~O~
Riley wasn't paying much attention to the chess game now. He was distracted by the haunting insecurity that he had failed to save his friends.
Should he have gone for something more recognizable than marbles? But marbles were all he had on him...
What if the others didn't get the message? What if his calculations were wrong? What if they were already dead, already frozen to the bone?
What if he was too late?
But as soon as he saw them all climb out of the vents, all worries washed away.
Puzzler didn't see this chance in his demeanor, only focused on the game. She moved her last piece, before exclaiming, "Ha! I win! Now give me your Energem!"
"I don't think so," Riley stood up, smirking. Puzzler was obviously confused, so Riley continued, "You see, the game wasn't chess."
"Surprise!"
The monster turned to look behind her, and she was very shocked to see the other four Rangers standing behind him, all with angry glares on their faces and clearly ready to fight.
"The game was to escape the maze," Riley explained.
"Inconceivable!" Puzzler cried out.
But before he went over to join his friends, he added, "Oh, and that reminds me." Puzzler turned around in time to see Riley move his last piece and knock her last pawn off the board. "Checkmate."
"What?! But how?!" Puzzler panicked, trying to figure out how he won against her, as Riley went to regroup with the others.
"Dino Chargers!" Riley led the morph.
"Ready!" the five all said in unison. "Energize, ha! Unleash the Power!"
A bright flash of rainbow filled the area. When it faded, Puzzler saw five Rangers standing, all morphed.
"I'm done playing games!" Puzzler's temper overtook her. "I'm going to destroy you!" The monster overthrew the chess board, and the table it was sitting on. "Check out my game pieces, Rangers!" she exclaimed, as an army of Vivix came to her aid.
Tyler's response was a strong, "It's gonna take a lot more than that! Tyrannosaurus Rex, Power Ranger Red!"
"Parasaur, Power Ranger Black!"
"Stegosaurus, Power Ranger Blue!"
"Velociraptor, Power Ranger Green!"
"Triceratops, Power Ranger Pink!"
"Dinosaur might, ready to fight!"
"Power Rangers–"
"Dino Charge!" The five finished collectively.
"It's about to get wild!" Tyler announced, the five Rangers getting fired up for the fight that ensued soon after.

Meanwhile, Fury had arrived at the coordinates from the Rangers' Energem tracker had indicated yesterday.
Apparently, 'Latitude: 37.6 degrees North, Longitude: 119 degrees West' was a dormant volcano.
"Here we go!" Fury exclaimed. "Time to show the world how furious I can be!" He activated the Ptera Charger, "Summon Ptera Zord!"
He threw the Charger into the volcano, which erupted as the Ptera Zord's shrieks could be heard. The Zord flew into the air, with exerting control over the powerful machine.
"I've done it!" Fury exclaimed.
Now everyone who ever doubted him would be bowing to him and eating dirt.

The Rangers jumped into battle, ready to end Puzzler's games once and for all.
Tyler managed to take down one of the Vivix before flipping over them and hitting them all with a barrage of kicks.
"You were right. Pawns do always lose!" Chase exclaimed to Puzzler, as he expertly took down all the Vivix in front of them. Chase managed to get a hold of one Vivix before tossing it to the others, taking them all out.
"If you like games, you'll get a kick out of this!" Shelby said, as she hit all the Vivix around her with a flurry of powerful kicks
"This may be a game, but we're in it to win!" Riley said, as he managed to take down all the Vivix in front of him with a strong array of strikes from his Dino saber.
"You clearly don't understand the rules!" Puzzler screeched, as she went toe-to-toe with Koda.
"Riley, you make monster angrier," Koda said. He managed to evade all of her hits and flipped out of the way. "Dino Morpher Blast!" Koda's shots landed on Puzzler, knocking her off her feet.
"That hurt!" Puzzler cried out as the Rangers regrouped in front of her.
"Nice shooting, Koda!" Chase commended the Blue Ranger.
"Guys, I very hungry," Koda complained, not having eaten anything all day.
"You'll have to do better than that if you wanna win this game!" Puzzler roared as she got back to her feet.
"Tyler, combine powers," Koda suggested.
"Right! Time to give this monster a game over," Tyler said, before giving Koda a T-Rex Charger.
"Thanks!" Koda activated the red-colored Charger. "Dino Charger, Ready!"
"T-Rex Charger, Engage!"
Koda loaded it into his Morpher, ready to finish off Puzzler once and for all. "Energize! Dino Morpher Blast: Final Strike!" Koda called, before blasting at Puzzler, ending her life in the explosion that resulted.
They barely got time to celebrate, because just then, the sky darkened.
"Oh no!" Tyler exclaimed right as they saw the Ptera Zord flying. There was only one explanation for this.
Fury had succeeded in gaining control of the Ptera Zord, exactly what the Rangers were trying to prevent.
"The Ptera Zord! Fury must have control of it!" Shelby cried out, all of their bodies and souls filling with dread.
"But we cannot hurt our friend," Koda protested. He was right. Even if Fury was controlling it, the Ptera Zord was still their ally, so they couldn't fight it.
"We don't have a choice. We have to fight it," Tyler told them, thinking about his team's safety. If they didn't fight the Ptera Zord, chances are that the zord would take them all out. "Summon Zords!"
Tyler, Riley, and Chase summoned their Zords, with no choice but to fight.
"Activate Dino Charge Megazord: ParaRaptor Formation!"
The Rangers quickly found themselves in the cockpit, physically ready, but no one was ready mentally.
"Here we go..." Tyler said reluctantly as the rangers went face-to-face with one of their own.
The Ptera Zord blasted at the rangers with a strong energy blasts, causing the Megazord to stumble.
Back where the Rangers were just moments before, Curio appeared from a cloud of stars in front of a defeated Puzzler. As she took out her watering can, she sighed, "Why did you reward Fury, Sledge? It's only going to encourage him to be even more selfish!" She sprinkled her Liquid Luck over Puzzler's body, reviving her.
"I'm at the top of my game!"
The Rangers turned around to see that Puzzler was revived.
"Time to make my move!" Puzzler laughed as she landed some pretty powerful blows to the Megazord, while the Ptera Zord blasted them from the other side. The odds weren't in their favor right now. "We're playing to win!"
"We're outnumbered, what do we do?!" Shelby panicked.
"Let's deal with this one problem at a time," Riley reasoned, feeling guilty at what he chose not to do.
"Agreed," Tyler said, before ordering, "Final attack!"
"Para Zord: Fireball Finish!"
A purple-and-green-energized fireball flew at Puzzler, causing him to fly backwards and straight into the Ptera Zord, but that wasn't the weird part.
When Puzzler got close enough, the Ptera Zord fired another shot of lightning, this time at the one flying towards it, who was gone in a semi-large explosion. This left the Rangers to reel in the shock what had just happened.
Puzzler was one of Fury's allies...right?
"I guess the Ptera Zord thought it was being attacked," Tyler suggested, as the Ptera Zord released the Charger from its mouth and flew off.
The Rangers could only stand there, and think about what had just happened.
Standing on the nearby rooftop, Fury caught the Ptera Charger, now empty, when it flew back to him.
"That didn't go as planned, but once I recharge this, the Ptera Zord and I will be back to destroy you, Rangers!" Fury declared. It was clear it was gonna take more than the Ptera Charger to control the mighty zord, but Fury wasn't out of the game yet.

"Sledgums, please don't make any rash decisions!" Poisandra pleaded with Sledge, as the group waiting for Fury in the throne room. "Remember how he failed before..."
"Maybe..."
"He also destroyed Puzzler," Wrench pointed out. "His own ally. And he also took over a mission that was supposed to be mine."
"I don't care about that," Sledge dropped a bombshell on them. "Fury has control of the Ptera Zord. That's farther than any of you have gone."
Curio immediately blew a gasket of her own, "Don't reward his selfishness!" Poisandra and Wrench both looked at her in surprise, as did Sledge, who was speechless. "Remember, we had the tracker and we would've won if Fury hadn't listened to his ego!" Curio was always fairly quiet and happy. It was rare that she got so pissed off like this.
"I understand that," Sledge admitted. To be honest, the only person he was probably afraid of right now was Curio. "But I can't ignore a development as important as this."
"She's right, though," Poisandra cut in, calmly. "We're the ones who followed the rules, but Fury stabbed us in the back. You can't ignore that either!"
"Having control of the Ptera Zord is exemplary," Wrench was calmer than Poisandra when speaking. "We're not denying that. But please consider those of us who actually follow your rules. You're the one who told us all to work together, remember?"
Sledge allowed them to persuade to be fair. He knew they were right, although part of him agreed solely out of fear of Curio. She and Poisandra really were sisters, weren't they?
Fury entered the room, and knelt before the throne where Sledge was sitting, "I have returned, Master Sledge." It was obvious to everybody there that Fury expected to be rewarded after such an impressive display against the Rangers.
"I commend you for your work today, Fury," Sledge told him, "and I was wrong to dismiss your idea yesterday, certainly, and I cannot let that slide."
"A cat always lands on its feet," Fury smugly muttered.
But the following forced the smirk on his face to fade away, as Sledge continued, "However, you still ruined yesterday's mission by listening to your ego and allowing yourself to be selfish." Wrench, Poisandra, and Curio notably eased up upon hearing this.
"But, Master-!"
Sledge cut him off, "You will still be punished accordingly. Consider yourself, as of right now, a level below the Vivix soldiers."
Fury's world seemed to stop. A level below the Vivix soldiers, who were practically their servants? No way! That meant that Fury had no seniority, not even over Vivix, the lowest possible level!
Things seemed more hopeful when Sledge continued, "If you want to regain your position as General, then use the Ptera Zord, not to destroy the Rangers, but to locate the Gold Energem. Retrieve the Energem and bring it back to me, and then we'll talk."
Fury accepted this, reluctantly, "Yes, Master." But it would be worth it in the end. He then remembered something he had a Spikeball (a level above a Vivix) do today, "With all due respect, Master Sledge, I may have a way we can rebuild that Energem tracker."
"How?" Sledge asked. "Also, I assigned that task to Wrench."
"My apologies," Fury quickly replied. "But I have kidnapped a friend of the Rangers. She might know something about the tracker."
"You mean the human who tried and failed to stop us yesterday?" Wrench remembered, and Fury nodded. "Of course! She's the perfect lead! Even if she doesn't know anything, the Rangers are still sure to do anything to save her!"
Sledge hummed in agreement, "Very well. Fury, your mission has been extended to getting answers out of this girl. However, you must keep Wrench, Poisandra, and Curio in the loop at all times."
"Yes, Sir."
To be honest, however, the other three still didn't trust Fury at all. An unspoken task that Sledge had implied was that they had to keep a close eye on Fury at all costs.

City Plaza, Amber Beach, California
It was at least thirty minutes later when Tyler and Shelby were standing in line, waiting to order pizza to replace the ones Puzzler accidentally made Chase destroy.
Koda was still hungry, and everyone knew that they couldn't just leave him hanging like that.
While they were waiting for their order to be filled, Tyler's phone started to vibrate, interrupting the conversation he and Shelby were having about today's events. When he took it out of his pocket, Shelby saw a photo of Tyler with a familiar-looking face.
"'Sierra-Mist'?" Shelby read the nickname Tyler had given her his sister.
Tyler sent the girl beside him a knowing smile, before answering, putting her on speaker, "Hey, Sis. You're early." Shelby stayed quiet out of respect. "By an hour and fifty-five minutes."
"Sorry about that," Sierra replied. "Rusty and I may have found a lead, and we're leaving in ten minutes. I called early because I may not have enough time later."
"That's fine," Tyler smiled. "To be honest, I forgot about your call. A lot's happened today."
"Wanna talk about it?"
"Not in detail," Tyler cooly responded. "All it boils down to was that it led me to nearly freeze to death."
Sierra gasped, her worry clear on the other end of the line, "What happened? Are you okay?"
Tyler took a little too long answering. Fortunately, Shelby saved him with her quick thinking, "Don't worry, he's fine. He just got locked in the cafe's freezer. Riley let him out."
"Oh, I'm sorry it was a stressful day for you, big brother," Sierra said. "I hope tomorrow is better. And you must be Shelby! It's nice to finally meet you. Tyler won't shut up about you."
Tyler's face immediately turned red, as Shelby giggled, "It's nice to meet you too, Sierra. And I hope he only tells you good things."
"Of course I do," Tyler quickly cut, flustered and trying to hide it. "Don't worry, of course tomorrow will be better."
"Order Number 73!" someone at the counter called.
Shelby realized that was the number she and Tyler were given, and as she went up to the counter to claim their order, Tyler told his sister, "We've got to go now. I'll talk to you tomorrow."
"Alright," Sierra replied. "I should be on time then. I love you."
"Love you too. Good luck. Bye," Tyler said, before hanging up. As he placed his phone back inside his pocket, he opened the door for Shelby, who was carrying the three pizzas they had ordered.
Once outside, Tyler took the pizzas from Shelby, letting her rest, and she said, "Your sister seems really nice."
"She is," he said. "Also, thanks for the cover, Shelbs. Sometimes, I take too long trying to think of an answer that's honest, but also doesn't give too much away." He didn't like lying to his little sister.
"No problem," Shelby sent him a smile. "Does she call you every day?"
"Yep. Every day at 4:30 PM."
"When your pre-dinner-rush break starts?" Shelby realized.
"Mm-hmm," Tyler confirmed. "That's so I have at least an hour to talk to her."
"Aww, that's so sweet." Tyler shot her a warm smile. "Now, let's head back before Koda eats everything in the cafe."
Tyler chuckled before following her.

Dino Base, Amber Beach Dinosaur Museum, Amber Beach, California
"I'm sorry," Riley apologized to Kendall and Keeper. He would never apologizing for choosing to save the other Rangers, but he still felt guilty about letting Fury just walk away like that. "I was so close to getting the Ptera Charger. I wish I could've stopped Fury..."
"Don't feel so down on yourself, Riley," Keeper reassured him. "While going after Fury would've been the logical decision..."
Kendall joined in, "It wouldn't have been the best decision."
"What?" Riley asked, confused. He nearly jumped out of his skin when Koda suddenly clapped him on the shoulder.
"Kendall right. You save your tribe, act with heart," Koda told him, as he pat Riley's chest where his heart was. "Always good."
As Koda wrapped Riley in a too-tight hug, Chase gently smiled, "Yeah. You saved us, mate. How could we ever be upset with you for that?"
Riley let slip a smile at their words, as Koda let go of him.
"We'll get the Ptera Zord back from Fury one day," Kendall told him. "Maybe not today, but next time, as long as we all stick together, we'll have a better chance than the one we got today."
"Anybody hungry?" Shelby announced as she and Tyler entered the base with the three pizzas they had bought. Koda smelled the pizza immediately, and he followed the scent like a dog. Riley stayed behind as the others went to partake in their meal.
"Finally, food!" Koda exclaimed as he dug into the pizza.
"Leave some for us, Koda," Kendall giggled as Koda dug into the pizza.
However, Tyler stayed behind. He saw a familiar look in Riley's eyes, mainly because he himself felt the same way yesterday. It was mostly guilt, but there was something else there.
"What's up?" Tyler asked, concerned, as he sat down at the table, across from Riley.
"I'm fine..." Riley tried to play it off, but Tyler wasn't buying it, evidenced by him raising an eyebrow in unamusement. Tyler knew his friends better than that, even if they met just two weeks ago. Besides, there was that thing he wanted to talk to Tyler about. So he told him, "When I was in the duct, I saw Fury. You know that energy thing that you and Callie saw trying to get out of him? I saw it too..."
"You did?! What do you think it is?"
"I have no idea, but it looked like Fury was draining its energy to power the Ptera Charger." Riley paused before asking, "What do you think it is?"
Tyler was quiet, "Considering that it first showed up while I was fighting Fury on behalf of my family, I...I think it might be my dad..." Tyler refused to make eye contact, but Riley had a suspicion that Tyler may be right.
Maybe not about it being his father, but about it being a human being.
"Whoever it is, we'll save them," Riley reassured his friend, "before Fury can use them to destroy us."
Tyler nodded, right before Kendall suddenly asked them all, "Have any of you heard from Callie today?"
The five Rangers all glanced at each other, confused and lost looks on their faces.
"It doesn't like it," Shelby replied. "Why? What's wrong?"
Kendall paused, seemingly having a quick inner debate with herself, before dropping a bombshell, "Because she's not answering her Dino Comm..."
No one could ignore the panicked look on Chase's face.

Note: Inner Monster Irony in this Chapter: This person has one of the highest IQs in their school, but they fear that bullying and peer pressure will never leave them. Puzzler, however, loses the game of wits to Riley and has no issues with following Fury's orders, even if Fury was being a bully when he gave them.
And this episode would be where I'd have Nickelodeon leave off at before its hiatus (even though I strongly dislike said hiatus). Always leave off on a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more. And don't worry, I'll explain the missing Callie plot thread more in the next chapter.
In case you're confused, the first scene takes place at the same time as the last scene in the previous chapter (the Rangers and allies in the base). It makes sense that Poisandra, Wrench, and Curio would be quick to tell Sledge what happened, and not wait until the next day. Also, please don't reward selfish behavior like what Fury demonstrated. It's unfair for the people who actually follow the rules.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Please review and tell me what you think!
A/N: Do review, please. If you guys have any ideas you want me to consider adding, please PM me. A preview for the next chapter:
Season 1, Episode 9: "Imprisoned"
"Callie's been captured and Fury is on their tail with the Ptera Zord. The Rangers must work together to beat Fury, retrieve the Ptera Charger, and save their friend."
