Chapter 21: Ambush
After receiving Jake's distress call, the other rangers and Sky rushed towards his location, only to find the place swarming with X-Borgs, leaving no way in.
"They must have gotten to Jake already. We'll need a distraction, or we'll never get through."
"I'll save your friend, you guys take care of the footsoldiers and meet us inside."
The current rangers nodded, and Sky made his way out from their cover, whistling to get the attention of the grunts.
"Hey, tin cans! Come and get it!"
Alarmed, the X-Borgs began firing, though he easily protected himself with a forcefield. Then, he condensed it down into an energy ball and launched it, destroying half of them and making the way for him to enter the building.
"Wow. He's good."
"Come on, let's take care of the rest!"
"Right! Its Morphing Time!"
Rushing out, the rangers were quickly swarmed by the footsoldiers, although they quickly recovered. Their swords easily cut through the robots, but more were on the way. Realizing a change of tactics were in order, they took out another set of keys.
"Legendary Ranger Mode: Lost Galaxy. Go, Galactic!"
Now with a new set of powers, their job became a lot easier. Their Quasar Sabers cut through their enemies like butter, and for any forthcoming ones they used their elemental attacks to keep them at a distance. But there were still quite a few left, and the rangers were starting to lose stamina.
"Anybody got an idea?"
Troy pulled out another key.
"Just one."
Getting the idea, the others pulled out the rest of the set.
"Legendary Ranger Mode: RPM! RPM, Get in Gear!"
Now in the suits of the Ranger Operators, the team went right back into battle. Emma, Jake, and Gia blasted the rest of the X-Borgs with their long ranged weapons, destroying most of them. For those that remained standing, Troy sped up, slashing them to the scrap heap with his Road Saber. Their enemies destroyed, the rangers powered down to their base forms, resting a moment to catch their breath.
"Man, I don't care how often we fight these things. They're still a handful!"
"They're robots, Gia. They won't wear out, but we will."
"Break's over, guys. Sky and Jake need our help!"
Inside the warehouse, Sky ran until he found Cybax tying Jake to a support frame.
"Cybax! Show's over, you're under arrest."
"You? How could you have possibly followed me through time?"
"That's for me to know and for you to never find out!"
"It doesn't matter, you're too late! Once the timer hits zero, The Troobian Empire shall have our revenge!"
"Not if I have anything to say about that!"
Sky reached into his pocket and pulled out his morpher, ready for action.
"SPD, Emergency!"
A bright flash of light erupted around him, and when it died down, he was morphed and ready for action. But instead of the normal SPD ranger outfit, his was unique. The visor was similar to The Shadow Ranger, but less pointed. The body was red, with black ascents. A cape ran down the back, giving it a somewhat regal look.
"SPD Deka Ranger, ready!"
"Some new digs won't help you. Emperor Grumm will be avenged!"
Pulling out his gun, Cybax began firing on Sky, who took cover behind some barrels. Drawing his Delta Blaster, Sky returned fire while running closer to Jake, only to find the rest of the team already untying him. One lucky shot from Sky forced Cybax to retreat momentarily, giving Sky a minute to give orders.
"You guys deal with Cybax. I'll go stop the countdown!"
"Right!"
Sky took off, while the others found Cybax tending to his wounds.
"Where's that cop? I have a bone to pick with him!"
"Forget about him, you're dealing with us now!"
"Legendary Ranger Mode, SPD! SPD Emergency!"
In a brilliant flash of colored light, the rangers had changed form again, sporting the B Squad suits while they posed.
"1! SPD Red Ranger!"
"2! SPD Blue Ranger!"
"3! SPD Green Ranger!"
"4! SPD Yellow Ranger!"
"5! SPD Pink Ranger!"
"Space Patrol Delta!"
"I don't care which set you are, you're going down!"
With a mighty battle cry, the two sides ran at each other, ready to end this once and for all.
Meanwhile, Sky had reached the launchpad, but it was being guarded by 100 X-Borgs. Undeterred, Sky took his Delta Blaster and turned it into a sword.
"Party time. Hey tin heads!"
Alarmed, the X-Borgs fired, but Sky deflected them with a forcefield. Enraged, the robots charged, ready to beat him up with their rocket staffs, but Sky was prepared. Using his sword, he blocked most of them, kicking away those behind him while forcing the blocked weapon down and out of reach. Building up energy in his sword, he slashed away even more of them. After several minutes, all of them had been reduced to scrap metal. Reverting his sword back to a gun, he fired on the control panel, putting the threat to rest.
"Mission accomplished."
Back with the other rangers, they had Cybax on the ropes. While he could take one or two at a time, they would quickly fall back and be replaced by two fresh ones, while Cybax was staring to wear thin. Right now, he was in a shoot out with Jake and Emma, but then Troy leapt up from behind them and began firing, forcing him to drop his guns as he tried to recover. Sky ran up to the group, Judgement scanner at the ready.
"Give it up, Cybax! Your launch has been cancelled."
"What? Impossible!"
"Judgement time!"
Pressing the button, the judgement scanner was activated, rapidly changing between X and O as Sky listed off his crimes."
"Cybax, you are charged with illegal weapons trafficking, breaking into a government warehouse, grand theft of technology, and evading arrest."
"No, this can't be! Its all a set up, I swear! I'm a victim!"
The scanner finally made its decision: guilty.
"The scanner doesn't lie. Now, are you going to come quietly, or are do we have to do this the hard way?"
"Ha! What do you think?"
Pulling a vial of liquid from his cloak, Cybax downed it in one gulp. Suddenly, he shot up like a weed, growing giant within seconds. Reaching into the warehouse, he grabbed the missiles, ready to throw them into the air.
"I don't care if I have to to launch these myself, The Troobian Empire will be avenged!"
