Chapter 27: Showdown

The teens ran out, staring as the giant Cybax made his way towards the city, intent it and every other major city off the face of the Earth. Troy took out his morpher to contact the Command Center.

"Alpha, we need the Megazord!"

"Already on it, Troy!"

Sky watched as the Sky Ship appeared overhead before turning to go back into the warehouse.

"You guys take care of Cybax, I'll go try and stop those warheads."

"Be careful, Sky."

"You too."

Sky watched the team form the Megazord before running into the warehouse, staring at the complex terminal before him.

"Let's hope those lessons from Boom paid off."

While Sky worked on disabling the weapons, the rangers took the fight to Cybax, though it wasn't going to well for them. Every time they tried to get in close to shoot or slash him, Cybax would wave the missiles in front of him, disuading them from getting closer less they set them off. This gave Cybax to take free shots at them with his pistol, dealing a lot of damage to the zords. After a few minutes, he grew bored of this.

"Enough! Say goodbye to your city!"

"No!"

With all his might, Cybax threw the missiles as far as he could. For a while they soared towards downtown Angel Grove...

But at the last second flew up, high into the sky before disappearing into the night sky, much to everyone's confusion.

"Um, am I missing something?"

"What gives?"

Just then, their communicators beeped, and Sky's voice came into the cockpit.

"Don't worry guys, I managed to redirect the missiles. You won't have to worry about them now."

"Where did you send them?"

"Let's just say our friends up in space are about to get a big surprise..."

Meanwhile, Prince Vekar was watching the Earth rotate from his command ship when he noticed something rapidly approaching the ship.

"Levira, those missiles were set to go off on Earth, correct."

"Yes...why?"

"Because they're heading DIRECTLY FOR US! Quick, get us out of here!"

But it was too late, and the missiles made contact with his fleet. A chunk of the ships were destroyed outright, and even those that weren't suffered extreme damage, his included. By the time the shaking had stopped, Vekar was an emotional wreck. Argus cautiously approached.

"Boss..."

"I HATE THE POWER RANGERS!"

Back on Earth, the rangers breathed a sigh of relief while Cybax growled, pulling out his pistols.

"You'll pay for that! Just as soon as I finish off these kids!"

"Need a hand?"

Just then, their belts opened up, revealing the SPD Ranger Keys to be glowing.

"Is this what I think it is?"

"Only one way to find out."

The teens inserted the keys into their consoles, and a loud police siren filled the air as Delta Runner 1 came racing down the empty streets, firing lasers from its tires to hit Cybax, blasting him back.

"Woah, so cool!"

"Sweet!"

The Delta Runner then broke apart, and several components on the Megazord's limbs opened up to allow them to fit in, giving the Megazord new gun ports.

"Legendary SPD Megazord!"

Cybax scoffed, drawing his pistols.

"You can have all the accessories you want. I'll still win!"

As if to make his point, he opened fire on the team, though the easily leapt out of the way and returned fire, hitting Cybax hard and fast, giving him no time to recover. By the time the fire had ceased, Cybax was on his knee in pain.

"No...I can't fail!"

"Can, and will!"

With a hard twist of their steering wheels, the team opened fire on Cybax, all blaster ports firing at once to overwhelm him. Despite his best efforts, Cybax fell, being captured in a brilliant explosion. All that was left of him was his containment card, which Sky picked up.

"You're coming with me, Cybax."

"This can't be! Forgive me, Emperor Grumn! I have failed you!"

Sky then turned to the Megazord and flashed the team a thumbs up.

"Good job, team. Mission accomplished."
