THE RETURN OF FIRE AND BLOOD

PART 1. THE SOUND OF WAR

ROBERT

After a seven, day trip into the King's Wood Robert tracked and killed a Boar. He returned with his prize five days later, which in all took twelve days. Upon returning to the Red Keep, he bathed, changed his clothes and got something to eat. Usually Myrcella would greet him after a hunting trip, but she did not show up.

"My King may we speak with you?" Renly asks entering with Ser Barristen, a woman, a young boy of ten and three, and two guards.

"What is it?" He impatiently asks.

"Well um…This young lady caught the Queen and her brother as man and wife."

"What?" Robert listens as the girl explains how she caught Queen Cersei and her brother Ser Jaime as man and wife. Ser Jaime chased her but she managed to get to some Baratheon guards who protected her. The girl was bought before Renly and she told him everything.

"That got me thinking…" Renly says speaking up. "I did some investigating and well. I believe Cersei's children were fathered by the Kingslayer."

"Do you have proof?" Robert asks.

"From Orys Baratheon until now all Baratheons are born black of hair and blue of eyes." He waves the boy forward. He looks like Robert only younger. "This is Oryn Rivers. One of your bastards."

It didn't take long to convince Robert. Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen were nothing like him and all three are green of eyes and gold of hair. He had Pycel placed in the Dungeons and then sent Ravens to the Stormlands, the North, the Riverlands, and throughout the crownlands. "Jon I will need the Vale as well."

"Robert I love you like a son, but no."

"What do you mean no?"

"I want no part of this. You are my King, but no."

Robert became angry and disappointed in his former mentor and father figure. And as usual Robert allowed his anger to control him. He cussed and called Jon Arryn an oath breaker and traitor. Later he regrets his words and apologizes. A reply from Winterfell had been sent and Eddard Stark had called his banners. The Banners of House Baratheon are gathering at King's Landing along with some of the Crownland Lords.

Stannis also shows up with four thousand men. The three Baratheon brothers meet in private. "So you finally figured out the truth about your wife. How did you find out?"

"I told him." Renly says speaking up.

"Enough! When the Tully and Stark forces are in place we will attack."

"What of Jon Arryn and his Knights?" Renly asks.

"He will not fight with us. Unless I promise to show mercy to the children."

"You should." Renly says.

Robert looks at Stannis, "Well?"

"Only if Jaime and Cersei confess and surrender." A few days later a scout reports that the Tyrells are amassing an army near Ashford.

PRINCE DORAN

My Prince

Uncle the time has come. Call your Banners and give my love to my Mother cousins and my soon to be wife

"Maester Valyn." He is standing in front of Doran after delivering the message.

"My Prince?"

"Send the Ravens and summon the banners to Vulture's Roost." He commanded. "My daughter you will remain here and rule in my name."

"Oberyn my brother you will come with me."

"Of course brother. The brothers of House Martell…Fighting side by side."

The arrival of the message came a day after Jaime fled the Capital with his sister and their children.

HIGH GARDEN

"Mother the time has come." Mace Tyrell says holding a raven message from the King. They are sitting at the high table in the main hall breaking their fast.

"Then let us drink to King Aegon Targaryen and his soon to be Queen…Queen Margaery Tyrell."

The Ravens had been sent out. There is excitement in the air, but Margaery kept her composure. As she sits in her room, she thinks about her time and conversations with the hidden King. Of course at the tourney he gave her the crown of roses naming her the Queen of love and beauty. And while she is attracted to him, she wondered about his feelings for her.

Not once did he say he loved her or was falling in love with her. He said the right things, but not the most important ones. She read his letters and they were beautiful, but not romantic. At least not romantic in a way that would make a woman swoon and she wondered if her family was being played. She had shown her Grandmother the letters and Olenna Tyrell was not a woman to be fooled. If there were something in the letters to give her Grandmother pause, then she would have seen it.

AEGON

He flies on his Dragon across the Riverlands, ahead of his Uncle's army. He landed to the North of the Riverland forces and walks for quarter of a mile to the camp. As he walks towards the Riverland forces, Lord Edmure and Brynden the Blackfish ride out to meet him with a horse. Then they ride back to camp and meet in the command tent.

"My army and the Northern forces are three days behind me. When they arrive we march the next day. The Usurper still believes that the River and Northern forces will fight for him." After the meeting Aegon gets something to eat and then checks on his Dragon Rhaexor. As he waits for the arrival of the reinforcements Aegon spends time warging the horses of other armies.

Four days later Aegon leads the Dragon Army 18,000 strong, the Riverlands army, 16,000 strong, and the Northern Army, 20,000 strong south towards Deep Den where the Baratheon army is marching to face the Lannister army. A messenger is sent to Robert telling him that the Riverlands and the North are coming.

ROBERT

After two weeks of marching they finally reached Deep Den. Camp is set up and Robert meets with his Banner Lords and Captains. "Our scouts report that the armies of the Reach and Dorne have joined forces and are marching this way." Lord Morrigan says.

"The Martells and the Tyrells fighting side by side…The seven hells have truly frozen over." Renly says.

"But who will they fight for?" Robert asks.

"Your Grace My scouts report that the River and Northern forces are marching this way, but…" Lord Estermont hesitates."

"But what man?"

"There is another army marching with them. They bare Targaryen sigils."

"What?" That is when a messenger enters carrying a letter from Tywin Lannister.

King Robert Baratheon

By now you have learned of the Targaryen threat. Your friend has sided with the Dragons. Lord Stark's bastard is actually the son of Lyanna Stark and Prince Rhaegar…If you wish to survive this let us set aside our differences. Even you cannot fight the combined might of the Tullys, The Starks, the Dragon Army, The Martells and the Tyrells…

PART 2. BEND THE KNEE

RHAENYS

Rhaenys stands beside her mother and uncles in the command tent with Mace Tyrell and Randyl Tarly. "Robert Baratheon wants to Parley." Prince Doran says reading the message.

"He did not give my brother a chance to Parley." Dany says speaking up. "I say we give them fire and blood."

"King Aegon does not want bloodshed if at all possible. We will parley."

While her Uncles and mother get ready to go parley, Rhaenys and Dany head to their Dragons. They wait until all the Lords are gathered together before mounting their Dragons.

ROBERT

Robert, Stannis, Renly, and Lord Estermont ride out to meet with their enemies. Tywin Lannister arrives next with his son Jaime, and brother Kevan. Lords Eddard, Edmure, Brynden and Jon Connington arrive next and finally the Martell and Tyrell Lords. "I don't believe my fucking eyes! Jon Connington." Robert says.

"Usurper. I am Hand of the King to…"

"One moment." He says looking at his friend. "Ned…The brother I chose. You betrayed me."

"How?"

"How? How he fucking asks! You knew of my love for your sister and yet you lied to me claiming that boy was yours. When all the time he was Lyanna's by the Dragonspawn Rhaegar!"

"Love! Love! You claimed you loved my sister and yet every night when we were encamped by the Trident you had a different woman in your tent. And in the Vale when my sister visited me. You…"

Stannis interrupts him, "We did not come here to revisit the past Lord Stark…We came to Parley."

"Yes where is the Dragonspawn?" Tywin asks speaking up.

The answer to Tywin's question comes in the form of a Dragon roar. Everyone looks up as a huge Black Dragon flies overhead. Then two more Dragons fly out of the south with riders on them. They all land at the same time. The riders dismount and join the parley. "I am Aegon Targaryen…Son of Prince Rhaegar and Princess Lyanna Targaryen…The rightful King of the Andels and the first men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm…This is my sister Princess Rhaenys and my Aunt Princess Daenarys Targaryen…Bend the knee or burn!"

Before anyone could say or do anything Robert walks up to him, his Dragon Rhaexor growling a warning. "I would rather die than bend the knee to Dragonspawn. You and I face one another one on one."

"As you wish, but know this I am not my father…I am more powerful."

"I killed your father and I can kill you Dragonshit!"

A space is made Robert armed with his great Warhammer. He roars charging Aegon who dodges all his attacks. Robert surprises everyone, despite his weight and size, his speed and strength has not diminished. Despite all this he is unable to land one blow on Aegon or come close. After a while stops to lean on his hammer and is breathing heavy.

"Fight me damn you!"

"This fight was over before it began."

AEGON

Robert roars again and attacks after catching his breath. After two swings Aegon draws his Valyrian sword and cuts the head of Robert's Warhammer in half. Then he cuts the shaft of the hammer in half, while kicking his leg out and breaking Robert's knee. Down he goes, "Cursed is the kinslayer."

"A pity you did not remember those words when you caved in my father's chest. That being said the curse does not apply to me…I am avenging my father's blood on the kinslayer who killed him." Aegon swings his sword, the blade goes though the armor and slices flesh. Robert laughs and falls down dead.

"An honor guard for the Usurper." Aegon commands. As Aegon wished no blood was spilled. Tywin surrendered after assurances were given that his family would still be able to rule the West. His army disarmed and escorted back west by Lord Stark's forces under the command of Great Jon Umber. The Baratheon forces surrendered as well escorted by the Martell and Tyrell forces.

THE LANNISTERS

GENNA

"Aunty where are going?" Myrcella asks.

"To the free city of Braavos in the East."

"Where is Braavos?" Tommen asks.

She smiles and takes a globe of the world, "This is Braavos…We will buy a big house and live there."

"Aunty is it true?" Myrcella asks.

"Is what true my Little Princess?"

She looks down as she speaks, "Is it true that Uncle Jaime is my father and not Robert?"

"Why would you ask that?"

"I heard people talking."

She sighs, "Yes it's true." That is when the First Mate enters the room.

"My Lady…" He looks at the children. Understanding his signal Genna joins him, "Iron Born…" He whispers, "The Iron Born are chasing us…They are waving their own sigil and that of the Targaryen Sigil as well. They are signaling us to surrender. The Captain told me to tell you."

"Can we outrun them?"

"No m'lady."

Theon Greyjoy leads the boarding party and forces the ship to sail to King's Landing. The ship was caught as it is sailing pass the Arbor Island.
