Sonic walked into the workshop. Somehow, he'd managed to leave the microwave in there, and now he had to go get it so he could cook the hot dog sausages. But when he walked in, he saw something amazing.

A large machine, the size of an average child's bedroom, with a slot filled by a Chaos Emerald.

Stood around the machine were Tails and Amy. But Sonic felt like something was up. Mostly because Amy had a slight grin on her face. But he brushed this aside when he saw the machine's large door open.

"Hey, Tails?" Sonic asked. "What's that?"

"Oh, it's just the Tele-Port MKIV." Tails replied.

"And I helped with it!" Amy smiled.

"It can teleport anything inside of it to the set of coordinates the user set." Tails continued. "I've done a few test runs on inanimate objects, and it's been working perfectly, so now I think it's time to use it on a couple of living beings!"

"O... kay... does that include me?" Sonic questioned.

"Yes." Amy spoke, clearly knowing something that Sonic and Tails didn't.

Sonic and Tails stepped into the machine, as Amy watched, the grin on her face growing.

"Soon, Sonic will FINALLY love me!" Amy thought. She raised her hand, and immediately slammed it down on the button which activated the machine.

Inside the machine, the feeling of uneasiness inside Sonic kept growing.

"I know something's wrong, but..." Sonic thought. "No! I must just be paranoid. Tails never messes this stuff up!"

And just after that, a wave of Chaos Energy hit Sonic and Tails, and knocked them unconscious.

When Sonic woke up, the first thing he saw through the window of the machine was an open door.

"Man, what happened to me?" Sonic groaned. One he said this, the hedgehog realised something. His voice was different. "Wait, am I... a girl now?"

The blue hedgehog girl then turned her attention to Tails, who was just waking up.

"Uhh... Amy?" Tails murmured. "Did you... dye your fur?"

"I'm not Amy!" Sonic stressed. "I'm Sonic!"

"You're clearly not Sonic! W-Who are you, and w-what are you doing in m-my workshop?"

"How can I prove that I'm Sonic? I know! How about I just run around the workshop?"

Sonic burst the door open, and ran around the workshop at blistering speed.

"Does that prove it to you?" Sonic asked.

"Y-Yeah. What happened to you?"

"Well, all I've gathered is that I'm a girl now."

"Wait, if that happened when you were in the machine, does that mean...?"

"Yep. It probably means you're a girl as well, honey."

"Wait, what about Amy? What happened to her?"

"When I ran around the workshop, I didn't see her at all. Plus, the door was open when I woke up! So maybe..."

"Maybe what?"

"I was getting bad vibes from her before all of this happened, so maybe she's the one behind this!"

"That makes sense? But why would she do it to begin with?"

"I don't know. I think we should ask her a few questions."

"D-Do we really have to confront her?"

"It's not a confrontation, it's just, we need to figure this out."

"Uhh... okay. I don't see why we shouldn't."

"Alright. But first, I feel like we should get some clothes. It feels really cold right now."

"What? You always just get a scarf whenever it's cold."

"Don't question it, buddy! I'll just see if that tracksuit Amy got me for my birthday last year still fits."

A few minutes later, Sonic walked out of her and Tails' bedroom, wearing a blue tracksuit that was a little too small for her. Tails was already stood outside the room, wearing a red jacket and denim shorts.

"Wow, you look really good in that!" Tails smiled.

"Thanks! I think the red on yellow looks good with you as well!" Sonic replied.

Sonic and Tails then ran out of the house towards the train station. But when they got there, they immediately hit a roadblock – the trains weren't in service.

"Aww, man!" Sonic groaned. "How are we gonna get to Station Square now?"

"Why don't we just use the Tornado?" Tails responded, still smiling despite the immediate problem.

"Oh! The Tornado! I forgot we could just land on the beach. What are we waiting for? Let's go, bro- uhh... sis!"

The sister-like duo ran up to the plane, and got on, Sonic on the wing, and Tails in the cockpit, like usual. Tails revved it up, hit the accelerator, and the plane took off.

In the sky, Eggman was sat in the new Egg Carrier. He hadn't heard about what happened with Sonic and Tails yet, so he wasn't expecting much. But when a missile collided with the floating fortress, the mad scientist immediately knew what was up, and hopped on the PA system.

"What do you want, you pathetic pipsqueaks?!" Eggman thundered.

"Well, we just wanted to get to Station Square," Sonic shouted. "and you just had to get in our way! What are you even doing, anyway?"

"Well, I was just communicating with my bases around the world," the scientist stormed. "and the hedgehog boy and the fox boy just HAD to show up!"

"It's not BOY anymore, Egghead." Sonic sassed. "I'm a girl now. Don't really have much time to explain what happened to cause this."

The blue hedgehog girl looked around, and noticed a squadron of Eggman Robots near her and Tails. Eggman was clearly keeping quiet about this, as he probably wanted to keep it a surprise. Sonic signalled to Tails that the robots were coming, and thinking quickly, she swung around to the robots, and let Sonic destroy the robots.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Eggman growled.

"Should we tell him?" Tails said in a hushed tone.

"No way!" Sonic whispered. "It'll be much funnier if he doesn't know!"

"I give up!" Eggman groaned. "ROBOTS, ATTACK!"

Nothing happened.

"Uhh... Robots?"

Still, nothing happened.

"ROBOTS! WHY AREN'T YOU ATTACKING?"

"You can figure that out for yourself, Doc." Sonic joked. "Anyway, gotta fly, guy!"

The Tornado flew off, right past the Egg Carrier, leaving Eggman to facepalm.

At a block of apartments in Station Square, Amy heard a knock on her door. When she opened it, she saw Sonic and Tails, but something was wrong with them. From what she could tell, they weren't boys anymore.

"Hey, Amy." Sonic spoke. "I just want to ask a couple of questions."

Amy suddenly got extremely nervous.

"O-Okay..." the pink hedgehog girl stuttered, stepping out of the way to let the blue hedgehog girl and the fox girl in. "I-I'll just get you two s-some drinks..."

"She's acting unusually kind." Sonic whispered.

"Yeah, she's definitely behind this." Tails quietly replied. "By the way, did you see a flash earlier?"

"Nope. Saw nothing like that."

Amy walked back into the living room, holding two mugs of coffee, clearly looking stressed.

"H-Here are your drinks..." Amy stammered. "S-So, what are those questions y-you want to a-ask?"

"Well, it's about what happened with the Tele-Port MKIV." Tails responded. "I think it's kind of obvious."

"And one of the questions is," Sonic spoke. "what did you do to cause this?"

"I-I-I don't kno-" Amy stuttered.

Sonic looked at Tails and shook her head, and Tails shrugged in response.

"Fine. I'll explain." Amy sighed. "I was trying to alter the machine to make you love me, Sonic. But the sabotage went wrong... and... then THAT happened. I ran away from the workshop because I was scared you'd yell at me, but..."

"Don't worry, Amy!" Sonic smiled. "We're not mad at you, in fact, it gives me an excuse to wear the tracksuit you gave me last year! It's actually really comfortable!"

Amy's face turned to a small smile. "T-Thanks..." she said. "W-What about the other question?"

"You kind of answered that when you answered the first question." Tails grinned.

Sonic and her surrogate younger sister both got off their chairs.

"Well, we'll be going now." Sonic grinned. "We've got some stuff to do."

Sonic and Tails walked up to the door, but before they could leave, Amy chimed in.

"Oh, one more thing." Amy said. "No matter what, no matter how you look, or how you feel, I like you for being you. So I will always root for you and support you, no matter what!"

Sonic blushed, and gave a thumbs up before leaving, with Tails following behind.

At the Train Station in Station Square, Sonic's eyes were flooded with a flash of white.

"Hello? What was that?" Sonic questioned. "What? Nothing? Okay. Why did a light just flash in front of my eyes?"

"See?" Tails replied. "I told you there was a flash of light before."

"That machine must have done something else to us. I think we should go back home, lil sis."

Back at the Mystic Ruins, Sonic was taking the Microwave back from the workshop, when she decided to have a look at the machine to see what she could do about the situation. When she saw the screen, she went into shock. The machine's charge was only on 0.5%, even though the Chaos Emerald was still planted in the machine. Doing what she did best, she left the microwave on a nearby table, and rushed out of the workshop, and back into the house.

"Tails?" Sonic yelled, prompting the fox to run down the stairs towards her older sister.

"What is it?" Tails asked.

"Well honey, the machine that caused this is only on 0.5% charge."

"Yeah, it takes about 2 days to get up to full charge."

"Two days? I can live with two days of this. Especially since this tracksuit is actually really comfortable!"

"Well, we've got a load of stuff to do in the next two days! Let's go!"

The next day, in Station Square, Sonic had just gotten back from shopping for clothes. The hedgehog didn't have much in the way of clothing apart from her boots, socks, gloves and the tracksuit. But once she got out into the sunlight, she saw a familiar face. Shadow was walking down the street, holding a body pillow. This wasn't an unusual sight for the blue hedgehog to see, as Shadow was constantly adding new body pillows to his collection. But this one was strange. It appeared to have a background, and body pillows with backgrounds were rare for Shadow to have, but something else caught the hedgehog girl's eye- A familiar blue tracksuit, and a pair of familiar, folded boots.

"Hey, Shadow!" Sonic yelled across the street. "Is that body pillow of... of me?"

"Yes." Shadow answered, clearly in no mood to talk. "I know how you feel, so..."

"So what?"

"So prepare for a battle you'll never forget!"

"No... I-I'm not mad, it's just..."

"I know you're lying. Now, GET OVER HERE NOW!"

"Oh, here we go again."

Shadow sped across the street, and fired a quick bout of Chaos Spears, which Sonic proceeded to dodge. But Shadow wasn't giving up after just that. The black and red hedgehog hopped all the way up one of the many buildings, and then jumped all the way back down, attempting to dive bomb his female blue rival, but instead cracked the concrete of the sidewalk.

"Come on, Shadow!" Sonic spluttered. "I don't want to fight, I ju-"

Shadow, now finally realising that Sonic didn't want to fight, tried to stop, but he scraped across the concrete, hit Sonic, and both of them ended up tangled around a lamppost.

"Ow..." Sonic groaned. "I told you I didn't want to fight!"

"I realised about 20 seconds ago." Shadow muttered. "I'm sorry, okay?"

"Don't worry! I'm not mad, it's just... I'm just confused."

"You know what? I'm sorry. I just thought... you were attractive, and..."

"Hey, don't worry about it, Shadow! I just need to be untangled, that's all."

Shadow wriggled out of the tangle, causing him and Sonic to fall to the ground. And before making the long walk to his cave, the black and red hedgehog turned to Sonic and winked, a blush barely visible on his face. The hedgehog girl responded with a quick thumbs up. Once Shadow left, Tails flew in, looking worried about her big sister.

"Sonic!" Tails worried. "Are you okay? It sounded like you got into a fight with Shadow!"

"Don't worry about it!" Sonic replied. "I sorted it out. And it was more like Shadow was trying to fight me, but like always, I managed to finish it."

"I gathered that already. Anyway, where are the clothes you were buying?"

Sonic pointed over to a tipped bag, which was full of shirts, sweaters, pants, and female underwear, sat next to the huge crack in the ground made by Shadow.

"There they are!" Sonic smiled.

Sonic ran over to the bag, gathered up the dropped clothes, and put the bag's strap over her shoulder.

"Well, I'm pretty tired after all that." Sonic yawned. "How about we go home?"

"Okay!" Tails responded. "I don't see why not."

Sonic and her female fox friend walked off back to the train station.

The next day, it was finally time for Sonic and Tails to change back to being boys. But when they examined the machine, something was wrong – it had no power.

"That's odd." Tails wondered. "Why doesn't it have power? We've left it for 2 days, it should be charged by now."

Sonic looked around the machine, and noticed something – the Chaos Emerald that powered the machine, now called the G-Shake, was gone.

"The emerald's gone!" Sonic screamed. "Why is the Chaos Emerald gone?"

"WHAT? It's gone?" Tails worried. "How did it dissapear?"

"Well, I think it has something to do with me!" a voice shouted.

Sonic, recognising the voice immediately, ran out, and saw Eggman, piloting a giant mech with a cage on its chest.

"What do you want, doc?" Sonic yelled. "We're a bit busy at the moment!"

"Well, I just felt like messing with you today!" Eggman responded. "And I'm using it to power the new REVERSE VENDOR!"

"That's... actually one of the most creative names you have for a Robot. I'm impressed!"

"Well, you'll be even more impressed when you get caught in the cage! Now, IT'S TIME FOR A CAGE MATCH!"

Eggman moved the robot's leg controls forward, but the robot didn't do anything.

"COME ON! NOT AGAIN!"

Sonic rushed out from behind the mech, holding the Chaos Emerald.

"Come on, Egghead." Sonic sassed. "You knew that would happen twice."

Eggman, in annoyance, hopped in the Eggmobile and flew out, leaving the mech to fall into the sea.

"Well, that was REALLY easy." Sonic joked. "Now, to put the emerald back in the machine."

Two days later, Sonic and Tails were back in the workshop, ready to change back to boys. But before Tails went into the G-Shake, Sonic tapped her younger sister, but soon to be brother on the shoulder.

"Tails, I have something to say." Sonic said.

"What is it?" Tails asked.

"I... don't really want to become a boy again. When all of that happened a few days back, I felt... like I was truly comfortable with myself. It was just a bit jarring to have the change happen so soon. You can get in the machine. I'll stay like this."

"You know what, Sonic?"

"Uhh... what?"

"I've felt the same way. I know how you feel, big sis."

Tails unplugged the Chaos Emerald from the machine, and dropped it on the ground.

"Let's get the microwave out of here and have something to eat." Tails smiled.

"How about Chilli Dogs?" Sonic grinned.

"Okay! Let's do it!"

Before picking up the microwave, Sonic hugged Tails, and the fox promptly returned it. Once the let go of each other, Sonic grabbed the microwave, and walked out.

"What are we waiting for?" Sonic beamed. "Let's go!"
