Chapter 4: an old blade, some new skills
Naruto woke up the next day with a weight on his chest looking down he saw a black ball deflating and inflating on him. Taking a moment for his mind to play catch up he realised that the events from yesterday were indeed real. Wiping the newly formed tears from his eyes he gently shook BJyarimon awake.
"Jyarimon, come on time to awake up boy" Naruto said after BJyarimon just groaned and shifted. "Five more minutes Takatomon" he muttered before realising what he said "You're really here"
"Yep, I'm still here. hard to believe isn't it, come on I'll cook you some breakfast, then we need to get ready to head for the academy." Naruto said heading for the kitchen. BJyarimon jumped up on his shoulder.
As they entered the kitchen, they found Reapmon reading a scroll, deciding to discuss things over breakfast Naruto got to work cooking. After a few minutes he and Jyarimon were enjoying a nice breakfast. Putting down the scroll he had been reading Reapmon turned to the duo.
"We need to do some shopping today; I can get you some kunai and shuriken on my own while you're at the academy. but I will need you with me to buy some new clothes." Reapmon said handing over the scroll he had been reading. Skimming though it Naruto found that it was from the Hokage telling them that if Reapmon had to buy anything for now to show the store the letter and that it would be charged to his account but not to go overboard.
The Kunai and Shuriken is a good idea, I have a sword as well we'll need to see if it's still in good shape." Naruto said having another piece of bread "It's stored in the armguards of my Armor right now."
"Alright, go get it and get ready for the academy after we still need to get you better equipment." Reapmon said standing up then vanishing.
After Naruto and BJyarimon had finished Naruto went to his room and pulled out his old Armor as he examined it, he realised that it wasn't exactly fit for a shinobi it was heavy and didn't allow for the kind of movement he would need as one. which made sense it was designed to give a human defence against Digimon after all. He wondered if he could have the Royal Knights modify it, shaking his head he realised it would have to wait. Pulling out the armguards for his Armor he put them on over a long-sleeved shirt and watched as they shrunk to fit him, channelling his chakra into one of the guards, data flowed from them to his hands hold them out he watched as his blade formed in them the blade was simple enough made from obsidian Digizoid a metal that never seemed to lose its edge he remembered choosing it to give himself every advantage he could. The cross guard was actually an extension to the blade flaring out ether side the hilt was also simple ordinary Digizoid in a leather grip. Giving the blade a few test swings, Naruto smiled at the familiar weight and feel of the blade. He then channelled his chakra into the other armguard watching the data expand into a red kite shield with Guilmon's hazard symbol in the centre in black made from Red Digizoid to offer him the best defence he could get. smiling at his old weapons he felt the familiar wight in his hand they seemed heavier than he remembered but then again, he was now a whole lot smaller. He frowned as he realised the shield too would be cumbersome and ineffective for most ninja duties then again it never hurt to have an ace. Channelling chakra into the sword shield and armguards, he smiled once more as the weapons turned into data and moved into the armguards. Grabbing his jacket, he headed of to the academy making sure to cover the armguards with BJyarimon nestling into the collar of his jacket. On the way there Naruto remembered something that Iruka said "Deception is a ninja's best friend" Naruto smiled and decided on what to do.
Entering the class room Naruto tried to act like he usually would have. As he entered the classroom. He noticed that a few seats were taken already he looked around for somewhere to sit as he heard yelling behind him as Ino and Sakura busted though the door nearly knocking Naruto and Bjyarimon over.
Naruto left them to there arguing he looked for a place to sit decided to sit next to Shikamaru. Who commented how troublesome it was and pretty much went to sleep. Naruto tried to pay attention he really did but even as Takato his attention span when it came to lectures was extremely limited,
"Ok so I think it's time to have some practical instruction" Iruka said "form up at the front of the class we'll be going over the 3 basic jutsu"
Naruto groaned at that 'man clones are my worst jutsu I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but they never turn out right they always look dead or sick.'
'Have you considered asking for help' came Kumara's reply.
'that's…. not a bad idea, can you help me Kumara?' Naruto thought wondering why he hadn't thought of that.
'I was thinking more along the lines of ask your teacher when class was over, but no I can't. I don't really know how to perform the jutsu myself never had a need for clones when I'm a one bijuu army.'
'Well, you're a big help…' Naruto deadpanned.
'I Try, now look alive your up.' The fox said.
"Naruto, are you paying attention I said you're next" Iruka said.
"Ahh sorry sensei, I try to pay more attention in the future." Naruto said snapping out of his internal conversation.
"It's alright as long as you at least try to pay more attention in the future now first up is the henge try to transform into the Hokage let's see how well you know your idol."
Naruto formed the hand sign calling out Henge no Jutsu transforming into a decent copy of the Hokage but still.
"Hmm, Nose is a bit long and I don't think he has that wart but all in all not bad you should practice though. Next substation."
Naruto did the next technique with a similar about the same result.
"Ok now for the Bunshin" Iruka said.
Naruto looked as nervous as he felt taking a deep breath, he put his hands together and channelled his chakra calling out "Bunshin no Jutsu" with his eyes squeezed tight peeping one open he saw a pale unmoving clone laying on the floor. Iruka sighed as the class laughed and Naruto seemed down trodden
"I don't understand what I'm doing wrong no matter how much chakra I put into this thing they always end up like this." Naruto said. That made Iruka perk up.
"Naruto how much chakra are you putting into your clones?" Iruka said as the class quieted down.
"Ah? Well as much as I can…why?" Naruto answered confused.
Iruka Smiled "I see, Well I think I know what's going on with your clones, Ok class many of you may think that putting more chakra into your techniques may make them more powerful and while that may be true for some. The Bunshin is a very simple Technique requiring very little chakra, so pumping it with a lot of chakra will cause the result you see with Naruto's clone. It's why we teach it to you as one of the basic 3. Now Naruto I want you to try again this time use as little chakra as you can."
Naruto tried once more this time trying to use less chakra, he looked to his clone which while still pale and sickly looking was at least standing if a bit wobblily.
"Naruto are you sure that was as little as you could muster?" Iruka asked.
"Yes, why?" Naruto asked
"It seems you have unusually big chakra coils, meaning you have more chakra then usual I would say that you have about the coils of an Adult Shinobi and still developing you should practice some chakra control techniques to better handle it. I'll give you some after class" Iruka said as the class when into uproar about how Naruto could have so much chakra 'is it from the Fox or is he really a Uzumaki by blood'
"If I had to guess I would say it's his Uzumaki Blood, The Uzumaki's were a Shinobi Clan who resided in Uzushiogakure the village hidden by whirling tides. It was once one of the major hidden villages of it's time." Iruka explained.
"But sensei why haven't we heard of this village before?" Sakura asked.
"Because they were destroyed before the 3rd great ninja war. Uzu was close allies with our village due to the Uzumaki and Senju Clans being distant blood relatives. in fact the swirl on the back of our flank jackets is the Uzumaki clan symbol, we wear them to honour our fallen allies. the Uzu were masters of Fuinjutsu so much so that it was the reason they were destroyed."
"They couldn't be that great if they were wiped out." One of the civilian class members said.
"Actually, it took Kumo, Iwa and Kiri all combining their efforts to take down Uzu and even then, only a handful of shinobi walked away from that fight. It took 3 armies to defeat Uzu and even then they took more loses."
"What happened to the survivors?" Sakura asked.
"They spread out throughout the nations I guess some came to our village but there wasn't many who survived."
Class continued on normally after but some were muttering about Naruto afterwards. After class Naruto had gotten some chakra control exercises from Iruka and then went to meet with Reapmon, BJyarimon had slept though the class. Reapmon grew frustrated when all three stores they went to refused to sell to Naruto.
"I might have an idea Henge no Jutsu." Naruto said as he Henged into Takato. "Let's try like this."
From there they had little trouble with the stores but Reapmon said that he would speak to the Hokage about this. Naruto got some new outfits for himself as well as some kunai and shuriken. He also managed to find a book on Fuinjutsu. When they got home Reapmon had Naruto train his Taijutsu again. Meanwhile Iruka meet with the Hokage.
"So, Iruka how was Naruto" the Third Hokage asked.
"Better, he seemed a little distracted for part of class but no more than usual, we discovered the problem with his clones but he will need to work on his chakra control." Iruka said.
"Hmm, I may have a different solution" Hizuzen said as he pulled out a scroll and handed it to Iruka who opened it and when wide-eyed.
"Lord Third, are you sure this is" Iruka asked.
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu, I know but due to Naruto's unique heritage. He should be able to use it" Hizuzen replied.
"Do you mean the fox or the fact his an Uzumaki?" Iruka replied
"So, you figured that out. It is true I'm surprised more people haven't figured it out but I guess they aren't looking for who his related to. But yes, it's because his both a Jinchuriki and an Uzumaki." The Third replied
Meanwhile Naruto had finished practicing his Taijutsu and had started practicing his chakra control… or he would if the leaves he was trying to stick to his forehead would stop blowing up, he decided to try a different exercise which was called tree climbing apparently, he had to channel chakra to his feet he didn't have much luck here ether. After a few hours he passed out on his bed.
