Why does a short man in a funny hat keep smirking at them, and what is it about Shayla's past that draws the dark powers of Middle Earth towards her? Romance (Bofur/OC, Kili/OC), angst, violence and swearing.

This little story, or big depending on how you look at it, is not something that you would expect to hear about. It is not a story of great deeds, or about a great hero. She wasn't a hero. She was a fisher from Alaska doomed to a life she never would have chosen and quest that wasn't even hers. Her adventure was entirely unexpected. Or at least, that's how the story went.

"There is something you must remember, little one: You were not meant to change their fate, but to bring the world back to its destined course." She felt like the last person who should do the job, but someone was sabotaging the story she knew so well, and she was the only one who could make it succeed. So, she would do what she must, but at what cost?
