It was a beautiful day in the city, here we see a tall young man walking into a bank. The man had dark brown hair, piercing blue eyes, wearing a jacket and black jeans with brown boots. He was carrying a satchel over his shoulders and went up to a teller. "Hi, I've come to make a deposit."

"Of course, Sir. Take a seat and we'll be with you momentarily." The teller responded, giving polite instructions to the young man.

The young man sat down on the seats, seeing a few people in the bank themselves and going about their day. He pulled out his phone and was about to open an app and while away the time for his turn.

Coming through the doors, were a large group of people...and pulled out large guns out. "Everyone on the ground!"

The people screamed as they were ordered to do, fearing for their lives as the bank robbers were holding everyone hostage.

The young man was terrified as he saw this, being part of a bank robbery and the guards forced to the ground. 'Oh god! Wh-what's gonna happen?' He thought in fear, seeing the tellers being ordered to get the money from the vaults.

"Come on! The money, NOW!" The leader demanded as shots were fired to prove they weren't messing about.

"Right! Right!" He nodded in fear.

The young man saw this, seeing people terrified and cowering for their lives as the robbers looted the area. 'C-Come on, Bill. You've got to-, have to do something!' He told himself as he looked at these assholes. Looking for... Something!

Through the fallen poles and velvet rope, turned over chairs and shattered glass, Bill saw a brass pole that was within his reach.

He reached out, nervously grasping it...

Crash!

Suddenly the wall exploded as five figures rushed in... And chaos began.

The figures stretched and fought against the robbers with their guns, all was a blur as Bill crawled over to the pole to try and defend himself. All he saw were figures of solid colours fighting against the robbers.

The sounds of metal on skin, bullets bouncing off and making ringing noises. It was all a conundrum that no-one could keep track of.

A robber tried to escape, grabbing a child as their hostage. "Let them go!" Bill all but screamed as he swung the pole, trying to hit the robber.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

Rapid gunfire...a searing hot pain in Bill's stomach and chest.

THUMP!

Everything... Was blurred.

Bill felt the heat of his body leave him as his mind wandered away. He could hear voices. People picking him up in their arms...he felt light and exhausted. He felt like he was out of his own body. The pain felt unbearable. "Please...I...don't...want to...die." He whispered, his lips struggling to make out the words.

Voices responded to each other as they decided what to do with this young man...and his last request.

"Don't worry...you'll be alright." A kind voice responded as Bill slipped into unconsciousness as his body went slack.

*Time Skip*

It was an unknown amount of time later, Bill's eyes were heavy as he felt something underneath him. Something hard and flat. A table? Was he dead? Was he on an operating table? He could hear beeps. Nothing that he had heard before, not heart monitoring beeps...something else.

His mind... Everything was fuzzy and weird.

'H-Hmm...I'm? Alive?' Bill thought, his eyes slowly opened to try and gauge his surroundings. 'Where? Where am I? Hospital?' He continued to look around, seeing computers and bright lights in the room and he flinched because of them.

KRRRR.

"H-Huh?" He groaned, hearing the sound of metal scraping on the table.

That... Wasn't right.

Bill turned his head, it felt heavy to him...like something was weighing him down. "What?" He whispered...and saw his hand. It was metal. A dark silver metal hand, connected to his arm; also metal. "N-no. No, no! Wh-what's? What's going-? My arm!" Bill's voice groaned as he sounded off.

A whoosh of an automatic door opened as Bill looked at himself, terrified that someone was coming to take him away. "Ah-ARGH!" He screamed as he saw his body. A dark silver metallic body that made him turn and sluggishly fall to the ground with a sickening metallic THUD!

"He's awake!" A voice spoke as they approached Bill.

"Wh-what's happened to me? Who's there?" Bill called out, his voice sounding metallic as he saw six new and strange figures appear before him. "Who are you?!"

Standing before Bill were the six figures, all singular colours and each having a symbol on their 'persons'. Five of them looked like men while one was a woman.

The first was the smallest, a dull grey looking man with a long nose, rivets in his bald forehead, metal ears and features with a symbol on his chest that looked like a conjoined '2' and '4' with triangle pointed shoulders.

The second was tall and lanky, bright red with a long-pointed nose and chin, bald-headed, round shoulders and had a symbol that looked like a legless stick figure with a pair of horns on its head.

The third was a heavy-looking man, square-jawed with a serious look, tough muscles...or what constituted as muscles, and a black 'L' on his chest.

The fourth was a dark blue strong man, square-jawed with a smile, riveted arms and legs, not as large as the heavy man, but looked just as intimidating. On his chest was a circle with an arrow pointing north-east.

The fifth looked to be the leader, made from gold, bald like his counterparts, but he looked to be like a father figure to the group. On his chest and forehead was a circle with a single dot in the centre.

Lastly was the sixth, the only woman in the group. She was a radiant silver-coloured woman, she was slender with long flowing 'hair' made from her own metallic appearance with swirls and design, a shield on her forehead with the letter 'P', silver shoulder-guards and D-Cup breasts that were designed to look like she was in a leotard and finally slender legs.

"Finally, you're awake." The red one spoke as he saw Bill. "You're lucky you're even here."

"Whoa, this is something new; right, Lead?" The small one responded, turning to the heavy looking one.

"Hmm. New strong Metal." 'Lead' answered.

"'N-new Metal'? What's going on?" Bill asked, panicking again.

"Take it easy, you're alright." The golden man spoke. "You're in Dr Magnus' lab, and we are 'The Metal Men'."

"Metal Men? The hero team?" Bill asked, looking at them.

"That's right. I'm Platinum." The woman spoke gently as she knelt down, helping Bill up. "This is our leader, Gold. That is Lead." She pointed to the hefty Metal Man. "That is Iron."

"Pleasure to meet you." Iron, the blue Metal Man, nodded.

"Our red friend is Mercury." Platinum continued.

"At least you've heard of us," Mercury responded.

"And last but not least is Tin." Platinum finished, pointing to the smallest member.

"Nice ta meet you," Tin responded. "What kind of Metal are you?"

"I-? Metal? I don't understand." Bill asked as he got to his feet.

"This is a lot to process, but do you remember what you said?" Gold asked.

"I...it's...it's a little fuzzy," Bill admitted, rubbing his head. "I just...I didn't want to die."

... Where was his bodies warmth? What was that weird noise as he moved?

"Yeah, well...You got your wish, kid." Mercury remarked.

"Your body was too damaged. Dr Magnus mapped your brain and remade you." Lead informed.

Bill's mind came to a stop as the horrifying realisation set in. He...he had become a Metal Man. His brain was now inside of a living metal casing. Alive...but was he really?

He... He wasn't HIM anymore!

"I-I'm not. I'm not...ARGH!" Bill fell to his knees, grabbed his head and screamed into the floor.

He was screaming... but he couldn't cry.

"Hey, it's going to be okay." Platinum knelt down and tried to help him.

"I'd give him a minute." Tin commented only to be given a glare by the shiny woman.

"How? How am I alive?" Bill wept, clawing and scraping at his now metallic form...and not seeing for himself what his face looked like. "Why am I alive? What is going on?!"

SLAM!

Bill slammed his fists into the ground and even dented it.

"If you'll calm down, we'll explain. Dr Magnus will help too." Gold responded.

"Stupid human." Mercury grumbled.

"Mercury, that was uncalled for!" Iron responded.

"He should be so lucky. He's essentially got a second chance at life!" Mercury answered.

"But he went through something terrible." Platinum glared. "Something that was my fault."

"Um, guys." Tin whispered, looking at Bill who seemed to shudder in anger, gripping the floor.

"Please. Leave." Bill gritted his teeth, trying to cry and compile all these emotions right now.

"Bill-" Doctor Magnus started speak.

THUD!

Bill's fist hit the ground in frustration. "LEAVE!"

"Let's go." Gold sighed.

Platinum reached out for a moment before frowning, leaving with the others.

Bill was alone, hearing the beeps as he looked at his hands and body...what was he anymore? A Metal Man?

*Time Skip*

It was a couple of days later since Bill was brought back as a Metal Man, aside from that outburst from his initial awakening...he remained on his own, curled up in a room of his own.

He could see himself in the wall, seeing his new body.

He was a dark metallic silver, his head had 'spikey hair' with a pair of dark blue eyes to contrast his metallic form, rivetted shoulders and limbs, a large black 'W' on his chest. He tried to recall his old form and make it as close to it as possible...at least he still recognised his face despite the immense changes.

He looked more humanoid than the others aside from Platinum.

The door gently opened as Platinum entered, wanting to check on him. "How're you feeling today?" She asked gently.

"I should be hungry." He spoke "It is half six. I'd be home from work at this time. Tired but happy. Starting up the cooker, ready to make dinner. I might have skipped lunch, depending on my workload. I should be hungry. ... I'm not."

Platinum sat down next to Bill, seeing how frustrated he was. "I don't know the feeling of hunger or tiredness, so I cannot empathise with that. But what I can see is that you're still compartmentalising all this."

"No duh," Bill responded.

"Bill." Platinum reached out and held his hand in hers, "Please let me help you. What do you want to do?"

"I." He whispered, before looking at her. "I want...to feel normal."

"Let me help you with that. It's not going to be better while you are living in this one room." Platinum answered kindly. "It gets better with friends around."

"Pretty sure the red guy is gonna treat me like crap." Bill frowned.

"That's just Mercury. He rubs people the wrong way at times." She answered as Bill got to his feet. "You'll be fine."

She ran a soft silvery hand over his arm, and Bill felt like electric was shooting through his body.

He looked at her with less hardened eyes and felt a little better. "Okay."

The two walked off together through the halls of the building, the first time Bill has seen it. "Do you have any questions?"

"Several...like, how am I still...here?" Bill asked, pointing to his head.

"Dr Magnus copied your consciousness and brainwaves and put them into a 'Responsometer'. The device that gives us our forms." Platinum responded.

"And... How?" He mumbled, "How did I die?"

"You were shot, back at the bank. Their weapons were ruining your body from your stomach outwards." Platinum answered sadly. "You tried to save people, and everything went wrong... Partially because we messed up. Too slow, too loud."

"Oh." Bill frowned. "Didn't you have training or something?"

"We do. But sometimes we get... Into arguments. We are family. And we make mistakes. It was bad timing. We broke through the wall at the wrong time. It made the shooter more his gun higher out of instinct, a fatal blow. We should have gone in through the cracks of the wall and been stealthier. We messed up."

Bill blinked as he saw it. The pure sadness on her face, blaming herself. "...I don't blame you." He muttered.

"Huh?" she blinked.

"You tried to help. And you did your best." Bill answered as they walked out of the hall. "I don't blame you."

"Thank you." She smiled gently up at him. She hugged him, smiling softly.

Bill blinked before he hugged back awkwardly...still, it was a nice gesture. "It's... Okay?" He blinked.

"I'm sorry." She broke the hug. "I'm trying my best still."

"Don't...don't worry about it," Bill mumbled. "Um. So, where are the others?"

"Doing their own thing." She shrugged.

"And Dr Magnus? I think I owe him an apology for everything." Bill followed up.

"He's working hard in the lab. Maybe we can go walk outside?" Platinum asked.

"Yeah, please." he nodded and smiled, a weak smile but still a smile.

As the two walked out, Bill saw that they were in a large laboratory building with a garden. It had a well-trodden gravel path, flower beds and a couple of trees.

"Looks...simple." Bill commented as he saw this.

"Yes, most people wouldn't see it like that though." Platinum answered. "But it's home!"

Bill nodded, thinking about his own home. This location was more spacious than his own place and had a better view. "I think...it's nice."

"Thank you." She responded.

*time skip*

It was a couple of weeks later, Bill had gotten used to his new surroundings and his new body. Though it was still awkward to call it that.

He was walking through the Metal Men's facility before he noticed a noise. That sounded like crying.

He was quiet as he approached it, trying to be as soft as possible when walking. As the crying got louder as he got closer...it sounded like a woman crying.

He rounded the corner and saw... Tina?!

"Tina?" He asked in shock, approaching her.

"Huh? O-Oh. Hey Bill." she whispered.

"What's wrong?" he asked, sitting next to her.

"It... It's nothing." she sniffed, making him frown.

"Tina." Bill frowned "Platinum. You can tell me."

There was a moment of silence as their eyes met... and she sighed.

"Doctor Magnus modelled me after an ex-girlfriend." she explained "And... and... I love him."

"Oh?" he asked.

"Yes." she nodded "... And once again he has come back with another stupid super model girlfriend."

"... Oh..." he blinked, realising what she meant.

"Yeah." she sighed "I'm... not enough. Not enough for him."

"Don't say that." he urged.

Tina looked up at Bill, seeing how sincere he was...but what would he know? "How can you say that?"

"Well, I...I know you." Bill answered. "You're kind, caring, you put yourself out there for others. You're a good person. I don't know what Dr Magnus' ex-girlfriend was like; but if he just modelled you after an ex of his? Then he's a dummy for not appreciating you."

...

"Thank you, Bill." She smiled.

Bill nodded gently as he looked at her. "I...don't suppose you want to go for a walk?"

"That would be nice." She smiled.

*Time skip*

BOOM!

"Magnus! What's going on?!" Bill yelled as he rushed into the lab one day, as explosions went off.

"The Metal Men are battling Chemo!" The doctor explained.

"What's a 'Chemo'?" Bill asked.

"A monster composed of toxic chemicals." Dr Magnus answered. "Bill, they're in trouble!"

Bill blinked in shock, seeing the computer screen which had a clear transmission playing.

Chemo looked like a hulking blob humanoid with metal arms and legs, two red eyes made out of robotics. It was slamming its fists into the ground, only missing the Metal Men by inches.

Meanwhile, he was also blasting green liquid from its mouth at the Metal Men.

"Argh! Hnn! Blasted thing! Can't we beat him?" Mercury grunted after being sprayed by the toxic liquid.

"We have to, we can't let him exist!" Gold followed up.

"He keeps nearly hurting everyone! We have to protect the people!"

"Look out!" Platinum called as she rushed forwards and formed a shield over some children, allowing them to escape.

Chemo roared as its foot came down, going to crush her and the children.

CLANG!

But it was held back...by the dark silver body of Bill, straining to hold the monster back.

"The hell?" Mercury gasped.

"When did you get here?" Iron asked in relief.

"Hnn! Does that matter right now?" Bill grunted, trying to hold his own with the monster as he was being pushed down again.

"Hold on!" Tin called out, stretching and striking at Chemo's head.

"Platinum, get the people out of here!" Gold called out, taking charge.

"Okay." She responded, grabbing the people and got them to safety.

"Hnn! Need a hand here!" Bill grunted before he slammed his fist into Chemo's head only to be blasted by the beast's nuclear breath. "ARGH!"

"Oh no!" Lead called out, seeing him blasted by the breath.

"He's dead." Mercury deadpanned.

"No. Please, no." Platinum whispered in fear.

Chemo laughed as he halted his chemical breath...and was punched in the face again, caused by a large metal fist.

"Dude. Your breath. STINKS!" Bill roared as he stood tall. Chemo crashed to the ground as Bill was standing there. "Is? Is there any way to stop this guy?" He turned to the Metal Men.

"He has a Responsometer, crush that and he'll be destroyed." Iron answered.

"... How do we do that?" Bill asked.

"You have to go inside break it!" Mercury answered. "He's also weak to high heats!"

"Oh, fantastic." Bill rolled his eyes and turned to Chemo. "Come on, slime!"

"No!" Tina called in worry.

Bill leapt up and dove into Chemo's body, the hissing acid and toxins burning and potentially melting him. But he would stop this thing!

"BILL!" Tina called out in worry and fear, seeing him swim inside of Chemo.

'Oh, this hurts! This really frigging hurts!' Bill thought as he tried to look for the Responsometer...whatever the hell it looked like.

Chemo got back up and grunted as Bill was swimming inside of its toxic body. It was discomforting for it as it tried to rip Bill out of his body but the special plastics that held back his chemical body refused to give.

Bill waded through the chemicals, thankful for his metal body, but he had to swim in what he thought was a toxic custard. 'Wait. What's that?' He thought as he saw a floating ear-like device in the massive soup of toxins. 'Is that it?' he thought.

Chemo roared, trying to rip its skin off as Bill got closer, reaching out as his body felt like it was being eaten away.

'Hnn! Frigging hell! Come on!' He thought, thinking he still needed to breathe and felt his arm extend and stretch, grabbing the device in his hand...and crushed it.

Chemo grunted as it felt the Responsometer crushed and destroyed, screaming out in anger and pain as it melted away, splashing to the ground and turned into a puddle of sludge as the body of Bill was still there.

"Bill!" Tina yelled in fear as the Metal Men caught Chemo's body.

Bill groaned and coughed up the remains of Chemo's body from his 'stomach', clutching the pieces of a small device in his hand. "Urgh..."

"You did it." Lead blinked.

Bill slowly got back to his feet, looking at the others and nodded. "Is...Is everyone okay?"

"Yeah, we're fine." Tin nodded.

"Good." Bill 'panted' gently as he suddenly pulled Tina into a kiss.

Tina's eyes widened as she felt Bill kiss her; much to the shock of the other Metal Men.

"Huh?" Mercury's jaw dropped to the floor.

Bill slowly broke the kiss and looked at Tina. "I-I'm sorry." He admitted.

Tina looked at Bill with shimmering eyes as she seemed to 'blush'. "We...We should head back."

"Yeah." he smiled.

He looked at the symbol on his chest, the 'W' on his chest felt a little...off.

"Bill, are you okay?" Tina asked.

"Yeah, Tina. I'm okay." He nodded. "Are you?"

"I'm alright. Thank you, for doing what you did." She smiled.

"Of course." Bill answered, before rubbing his hand over his chest. "Can I ask you something?"

"Anything." She responded, looking at him.

"What's with the 'W'? I can't think of any metal that has a 'W' in its name."

"Oh, that's 'Wolfram'. Also known as 'Tungsten'." Platinum answered.

"Really?" He blinked in shock.

"Hmm. There were many metals that tried to match your personality...and Tungsten was the closest one." Platinum answered. "The strongest metal in the world." As she said that she reached up, a hand running up Bill's arm.

"Oh um." Bill chuckled nervously. "A-ha...Do you...want to um."

"Yes?"

"Do you...want to go on a walk with me? So we get to know each other." Bill asked.

"That would be...very nice." She smiled, taking his hand with hers. Her body became water like as if quickly wrapped and washed over Bill's body, moving rapidly and teasingly, before she reappeared standing next to him with their hands linked tight "I'm sure this will be wonderful."

Bill chuckled gently and held her hand, the two leaving the room and out for their walk.
