Commander Shepard is the sole survivor with a synthetic sole, among other augmentations due to the Akuze incident. She's suppressed her emotions and ignored persuasions to retire in her willingness to continue her tour of duty, relying on medication to help with her nightmares and the phantom pains that have persisted. People think it's determination. It's just a distraction.

Wrex's contract into Fist leads him to a new opportunity with a Spectre. He never really thought about any relationships or mates due to the genophage but he's drawn to Shepard. She's a fierce warrior who doesn't take crap from anyone. Their relationship remains platonic but it's a struggle with their sexual tension that could never bloom. Her love for Liara makes things difficult

The Citadel Council - an organization tasked with maintaining the peace, stability and prosperity of the known galaxy. It is a task they had mostly excelled at since the Krogan Rebellions. The Councilors have the weight of the galaxy upon their shoulders and have to constantly balance the needs and interests of their governments and people... Competent Council AU.

Right before Omega 4, Shepard receives one last mission from Admiral Hackett regarding suspicious movements along the human-batarian border. While Shepard himself is prepared to answer the call, he is much less enthusiastic with the fact that he will have to work with Alliance soldiers...Alliance soldiers who are none too happy with being assigned to fight with a supposed traitor.
