AN: Obviously my version of Luna Lovegood is a little OOC, Harry saved her from four years of being tormented by her housemates. I always thought her mad ramblings in the books were a bit of a defense mechanism, but with Harry's protection, she was able to be herself.
Great Hall, 9/17/1996, 08:22
Harry was exhausted he had only gotten a little over two hours sleep this morning, he still woke at five to do his run though he didn't put much effort into it.
He was currently nursing a cup of coffee and hoping it would get him through Transfiguration. He would not risk raising McGonagall's ire again by dozing off in her class.
Harry nearly smiled when he saw Luna stumble towards him, she looked dead on her feet.
This was good because a tired Luna was a quiet Luna and a quiet Luna would not have the energy for her usual mischief.
"Good morning Luna", Harry said cheerfully, making people down the table gawp at his unusual cheerful demeanor.
" It's a horrible awful morning," Luna said grumpily.
"Nonsense, the sky is blue, the birds are chirping and you have a full day of classes to look forward to," Harry said with a grin.
"Enjoy your day off Harry, I'll be back to normal tomorrow," Luna threatened as she sipped her tea.
"Of course you will, did you remember that you have astronomy tonight?" Harry asked causing Luna to sputter up tea.
"No, oh this is horrible," Luna said looking despondent.
"You can catch a nap after dinner," Harry said feeling a little bad for teasing her now.
Luna nodded and slowly ate her breakfast, Harry gazed around the hall and zoned out not really seeing anything, he was shaken out of his stupor when Luna nudged him with her elbow.
"Huh?" Harry asked shaking himself.
"The bell rang, time to get to class," Luna said sounding a little more alert now that she had breakfast.
Harry nodded and slowly made his way to the Transfiguration classroom, he took his usual seat at the back of the classroom and watched his peers scurry in, McGonagall was sitting behind her desk seemingly ignoring the noise around her grading essays.
Harry was not fooled the woman was keeping an eye on the classroom around her just waiting for a student to misbehave.
When the final chime rang and the student chatter ceased, the professor straightened her papers and rose from her seat.
"Good morning, during the last lesson we discussed the theory behind transfiguring hair on the face and head. Today I will partner you with another student and you will take turns changing their hair color."
"I know there are many spells that will achieve this, some of them have long-lasting effects, that being said if anyone uses a spell that is not in the text I will make you regret it."
"The spell you will be practicing today will wear off within two hours, I would still prefer if you would only use natural colors as that is what this spell was designed for...
Harry listened with half an ear as McGonagall went over a few tips to get the correct results, she then began to pair up the students, which Harry tuned out until he heard his own name called out.
" Potter you will be paired with Ms. Granger", McGonagall had called out making Harry scowl.
"I' m no happier about this than you are," Granger said as she joined him at his desk and noticed his visage.
"You should be thrilled," Harry said flatly.
"Why is that?" She asked shortly.
"Because I am a gifted wizard and I may be able to tame your hair," Harry said with a smirk.
"Ha, your saying I have bad hair, have you seen that rat's nest on your head?" Granger asked incredulously.
"Huh, kitties got claws I see, alright hold still," Harry said raising his wand.
"Why do you get to go first?" Granger demanded.
"Because I am dying to see how you would look as a ginger," Harry said and cast the spell before she could protest anymore.
Harry cast nonverbally so Granger didn't even realize at first until Harry snorted when he saw the results.
Her thick bushy chocolate brown hair had been transformed into a long straight auburn that strongly resembled Ginny Weasley's.
"What did you do?" Hermione demanded picking up the mirror that was on Harry's desk and inspecting her hair.
"Well done Mr. Potter", McGonagall said approvingly.
"Thank you, professor," Harry said modestly.
"You'll pay for this," Hermione said raising her own wand and casting the spell over Harry's head, she gave him a victorious smirk when the spell was complete
Harry picked up the mirror and peered into it with trepidation, he nearly dropped it in horror when he saw his hair was now platinum blonde and slicked back on his head.
"I really should have seen that coming," Harry said out loud.
"You started it," Hermione huffed.
"Quiet Weasley, I'm not in the mood for your cheek. Just wait until my father hears of this!" Harry said loudly in a passable imitation of Malfoy causing people around him to snigger.
"Very funny, now cancel the spell," Hermione demanded.
"You can't cancel it, that's the point. You have to wait until it wears off," Harry said slowly as if speaking to a child.
"What?!" Hermione demanded.
"Is there a problem Ms. Granger?" Professor McGonagall asked irritably.
"Potter said the spell can't be canceled, that it has to run its course," Hermione exclaimed aghast.
"He's right, that is why I have restricted the class to only use the incantation 'Crinus Muto' which only lasts a few hours," the professor explained before turning back to help Ernie McMillan.
"I thought you read ahead?" Harry asked surprised.
"I wasn't all that interested in hair spells," she defended.
"You should be," Harry quipped.
"Why are you such an arse?" Hermione snapped.
"It amuses me," Harry answered.
"Ugh, you're worse than Malfoy," Granger sighed.
"Maybe this year, the ferrets been pretty quiet lately," Harry said thoughtfully.
"Whatever stop talking to me," Granger snapped before opening her text and burying her nose in it.
It was almost too easy to get under the girl's skin, he had never really had much interaction with Hermione Granger as her personality grated on his nerves. There was no doubt she was intelligent but the way she tried to rub it into everyone's face really galled him.
He would admit she had loosened up a lot since last year, Luna had attended the illegal defense club Granger and Longbottom had created and enjoyed messing with the bookworm during the meetings. Luna actually liked the girl for some reason.
"Why did you attack Coote and Peakes?"Hermione asked bringing Harry out of his thoughts.
" I don't like bullies," Harry answered.
"But the girl was one of those blood purist Slytherins," Hermione said confused.
"No she wasn't, she's a neutral and more importantly she was thirteen," Harry said annoyed.
"What? Neville said the girl's parents were dark sympathizers," Hermione exclaimed.
"Neville's full of shit, the neutrals don't support either side of the war," Harry said.
"There is no need for such language and you'll excuse me if I don't believe you," Hermione whispered back.
"Not everyone in Slytherin runs around calling people mudbloods Granger, I assumed with your vaunted intelligence you would have figured this out by now. There are bigots in all four houses, they just hide it better than Malfoy and his ilk," Harry answered.
Before Hermione could reply the bell rang signaling class was over, Harry gathered his bag and made his way towards Ravenclaw tower.
He received a lot of strange looks no doubt due to his hair but ignored them in his haste to get to his dorm and catch up on his sleep.
"That is not a good look on you," Said a female voice coming down the hall that led to the divination classroom.
Turning to the person that spoke to him Harry blushed slightly, Lavender Brown was looking at his hair in obvious disapproval.
"Tell that to Granger, she did it," Harry said feeling more self-conscious of his hair now.
"Why?" The girl asked curiously.
"Transfiguration we practiced the hair changing spell," Harry answered before continuing his trek to the Ravenclaw tower.
He heard Padma's sister giggling behind him and then heard her say, "You made him blush!"
Harry quickened his pace so he couldn't hear any more of their conversation.
Finally reaching his dorm Harry collapsed on his bed and fell asleep still fully dressed.
Harry woke up in time for lunch and made his way to the great hall, his hair had changed back to normal thankfully and he felt better about going down to the great hall.
Luna was already in her normal spot but she wasn't eating, she had her arms folded on the table and her head laying on her arms looking positively exhausted.
"Tired?" Harry asked taking his seat.
"Very, two more classes, and I can take a nap," Luna said quietly.
"How have your classes been going?" Harry asked.
"Ginny was in a right snit this morning, apparently someone changed Hermione's hair and Dean Thomas almost kissed her between classes," Luna said.
"What?" Harry asked gleefully.
"Dean thought Hermione was Ginny from behind, spun her around, and almost planted one on her until Hermione smacked him," Luna explained sounding more like her old self.
Harry glanced over at the Gryffindor table and noticed Hermione glaring daggers at him, he winked at her and turned back to Luna.
"That's fantastic," Harry said happily.
"Ginny didn't think so," Luna countered.
"She's too close to the situation to appreciate the humor in it," Harry replied before taking a bite of his stew.
"Why do I have the feeling you had something to do with this?" Luna asked.
"Because you know me pretty well," Harry replied easily.
"Oh there is a rumor that there is another Malfoy at this school," Luna said excitedly.
Harry scowled, it looks like Granger had gotten her shot in as well.
Harry went on to explain what happened in transfiguration this morning which perked Luna right up.
"So you're the new Malfoy?" Luna asked.
"I most certainly am not the new Malfoy, though I will admit to being responsible for Granger's mishap," Harry conceded.
The rest of lunch was quiet, Luna's burst of energy was short-lived and she quickly settled back into her stupor.
Harry was free the rest of the afternoon so he decided to head to the library and knock out his transfiguration homework.
Harry found the required reference books and settled at a table to write his essay on the most common complications encountered during human Transfiguration, and how to avoid them.
For the next few hours Harry was engrossed in completing his homework, he was distracted from writing his conclusion when someone sat at his table.
Harry looked up and was surprised to see Lavender sitting across from him.
"Hey," she said brightly giving him a smile.
"Hello," Harry replied nonplussed.
"I like your hair better like that, did you make Hermione's hair look like Ginny's this morning?" Lavender asked.
"Yes, I was partnered with her this morning," Harry said still confused about this situation.
"Can you please teach me that spell?" Lavender asked giving Harry a hopeful look that made his breath hitch slightly.
"I might be able to work it into our tutoring session," Harry said after some thought.
"I was actually hoping to learn it sooner," Lavender asked pleadingly.
"Why don't you ask Hermione?" Harry asked.
"Since me and Ron started seeing each other she won't talk to me, I think she's jealous or something," Lavender explained with a shrug.
Harry was conflicted, he had never spoken to this girl before today, the fact that Granger hated her made Harry want to help just to irritate her. However, learning that Lavender really was dating Weasley pissed him off for reasons he couldn't explain to himself. After a moment of thought, he finally made a decision.
"I can't, I have two essays to finish before I have to tutor the second years tonight," Harry answered gruffly.
"Okay, I'll let you get back to your homework, see you tomorrow," Lavender said cheerfully before she gathered her things and left.
"That was smooth," came Luna's voice from behind him.
"What are you doing here?" Harry asked surprised.
"I have to pick up a reference book for charms, then I am going to bed," Luna answered.
Harry checked his watch and saw it was almost three, he must have been working longer than he thought.
"Oh, wait up I just have to write the conclusion and I'm done," Harry said as he picked his quill up and started writing.
"You just said you had two essays to write," Luna said confused.
"I lied," Harry said finishing his last sentence.
"That wasn't very nice, Harry," Luna scolded.
"I wasn't about to help her with that hair spell she would probably just use it to catch the Weasel's attention," Harry said grumpily.
"Jealousy is not a good look on you and it attracts nargles," Luna said matter of factly.
"I thought they were attracted to your knickers?" Harry asked as he gathered up his stuff.
"They are attracted to many things, they even torment muggles by hiding their keys and remote controls," Luna said falling into step with him.
"How do you know about a remote control?" Harry asked.
"We stayed at a muggle hotel in Sweden, they had cable TV and I used a remote a lot," Luna explained.
"Hm, they sound like a real nuisance," Harry said thoughtfully.
"They are but you're distracting me, you were jealous earlier," Luna said.
"Was not," Harry said petulantly as they stepped into the common room.
"Sure Harry, now if you will excuse my I am very sleepy, Luna said darting up the stairs to the girl's dorms.
'The sad thing is I don't know if Luna is right or not," Harry thought to himself.
Great hall, 9/18/1996, 17:15
Harry sat down at his usual spot and was unsurprised to see a grinning Luna waiting for him.
"I have wonderful news Harry," Luna gushed.
"You have caught a live nargle and you and your dad are about to tell the magizooligical society to suck it?"' Harry asked.
" I wish, no I have a date to Hogsmeade," Luna said happily.
"A date, with who?" Harry asked innocently.
"Colin Creevey," Luna replied.
"Which house?" Harry asked.
"Gryffindor, he's the one with the camera," Luna said with a soft smile.
Harry scanned the Gryffindor table and found the boy fairly easily, there was only one boy there with a camera after all.
"I might have to have a word with the lad", Harry said thoughtfully.
" No I forbid it," Luna protested.
"I just want to impress upon Mr. Creevey how displeased I will be if he doesn't act like a proper gentleman," Harry argued not taking his eyes off of Colin.
"I am hoping he will be a little ungentlemanly Harry," Luna said absentmindedly.
Colin apparently felt Harry's eyes on him and looked up from his plate, The boy looked alarmed when he noticed Harry watching him intently.
His dormmates had scooted away from him when they noticed Harry looking their way.
"Stop it, Harry, you will not ruin this for me," Luna demanded hotly.
"But Luna-
" Don't but Luna me Harry Potter, every boy my age is terrified to ask me out because they know I'm your friend. Colin had the courage to ask me out, that has to count for something," Luna implored.
'Fine, I will keep my nose out of it," Harry relented.
"Good, I didn't have to resort to blackmail," Luna said sounding pleased.
"What blackmail?" Harry asked giving Luna his full attention.
"What? Oh, nothing forget I said anything," Luna said hastily.
"No, what blackmail do you have?" Harry asked feeling a chill all of a sudden.
"I'm not going to tell you, just know I've got some," Luna said seriously.
"I still remember when you were sweet and innocent," Harry said wistfully.
"I'm still sweet," Luna exclaimed.
Really, do you remember that prank you wanted me to help you pull two tears ago?" Harry asked.
"They turned me into a canary Harry", Luna defended.
" You wanted me to put cayenne pepper in their underwear," Harry reminded her horrified at the thought.
"I was young, that's when my monthlies first started, I was feeling a little vengeful," Luna reasoned.
"That was way over the top, I'm glad I talked you out of it," Harry said as an afterthought.
"I still went through with it, though I framed Ronald for it," Luna said embarrassed.
"Huh, well good on you then," Harry was more than a little impressed.
"So are you excited about tonight?" Luna asked mischievously.
"No why would I be?" Harry asked.
"You get to tutor your crush," Luna grinned.
"I don't have a crush," Harry hissed.
"Of course not," Luna said in a patronizing tone.
Harry finished his dinner and stood, "I'll see you in a few hours, stay out of trouble," Harry told her before making his way to the library.
"I always do Harry," Luna answered.
Harry found his normal spot and took a seat, he began mentally preparing himself, trying to push all of Luna's teasing to the back of his mind. One of her taunts kept creeping into his thoughts, 'you get to work with your crush tonight.'
He had never had a crush before so he didn't really know if what Luna was saying was true or not. He had found girls attractive before Daphne being a fine example, but he had never fixated on a girl like he had been doing with Lavender of late.
The fact that he didn't know was more irritating than anything else, maybe Sirius was right he had been too focused on his academics and didn't have much of a social life.
A clearing of a throat brought him out of his introspection and he found the girl he had been thinking about sitting in front of him.
"Sorry, I was thinking," Harry said his face feeling warm.
"It's fine, " Lavender said with a smile.
"Ok... what problems are you having with Transfiguration?" Harry asked.
"All of it really, I didn't really pay attention in class," She answered candidly.
"Then why do you want to retake the exam?" Harry asked confused.
"Gladrags has an internship program for fashion designers, but to even be considered I need a N.E.W.T in Charms and Transfiguration," She explained.
"Okay, how are you at the practical?" Harry asked.
"Okay, the practical is the only reason I was able to get an A," She admitted.
"Right we can start on the theory first then," Harry stated.
"What about that spell?" Lavender asked hopefully.
"You need to understand the theory otherwise you will end up ruining your hair," Harry said flatly.
Lavender looked horrified and nodded, "where do we begin?"
"Intent, which is the most important part of transfiguration," Harry replied.
For the next hour, Harry went through the first-year text, Lavender was paying rapt attention even taking notes on some of the key points. Harry finally wrapped up the theory side of things and stood up.
"Come on we need to go somewhere else work on your theory work," Harry said stretching his arms out.
Lavender put her notes in her bag and stood up as well, she followed him out of the library and down the hall.
Harry led her to the classroom he had taught Justin in on Monday and headed to the teacher's desk.
"Now we will be starting at the beginning, I want you to turn this toothpick into a sewing needle," Harry told her.
He then waved his wand and conjured a toothpick on the desk and stepped back to observe her casting.
Lavender stepped forward and raised her wand, she stared at the toothpick considering it for a minute before swishing her wand and casting the spell.
Harry watched as the toothpick shimmered and shrunk slightly before reshaping into a silver needle.
Harry picked up the needle and examined it closely, after scrutinizing it for over a minute he could not find a single flaw.
"Very good, I want you to try that again this time nonverbally, I know it's not part of the O.W.L's but it is a requirement in N.E.W.T Transfiguration," Harry told her.
"But I don't understand how to cast silently," Lavender protested.
"You haven't?" Harry asked surprised.
"Professor Flitwick isn't very strict on the matter and Snape mostly lectures, the teachers never actually explained how to do it," Lavender said.
"Oh, well it's not an easy thing to explain, try saying the Incarnation in your mind, just don't focus on the words. Keep your focus on the intent, on changing the toothpick," Harry said after giving it some thought.
"Okay but don't laugh if I mess it up," Lavender begged.
"I would be an awful tutor if I ridiculed my students," Harry assured her.
"Okay, I'll try," Lavender said sounding uncertain.
"Just relax, you can do this Harry," said encouragingly.
Lavender gave him a smile in thanks before holding her wand over the toothpick and closing her eyes.
Harry watched on patiently as she made the wand motions and Harry saw the toothpick shimmer slightly but nothing changed.
Lavender opened her eyes and deflated slightly seeing the toothpick hadn't changed.
"See, I can't do it!" Lavender exclaimed.
"You just need to practice, we're out of time for today. So practice on your own and we can try again next week," Harry told her.
"Okay, I will," Lavender replied still looking a little put out.
"Alright, then I will see you next Wednesday," Harry said heading for the door.
"Wait, aren't you going to offer to walk me to my common room?" Lavender asked.
"Why?" Harry asked confused.
"Because of all the attacks going on around here," Lavender said as if were obvious.
"What attacks?" Harry asked even more confused.
"A bunch of students have been cursed in the halls late at night on their way to Gryffindor Tower," Lavender explained.
"It's the first I've heard of it," Harry admitted.
"Well now you've heard, walk me to the common room please," Lavender demanded.
"Fine come on then, I don't want to be caught after hours," Harry said grumpily.
"Stop scowling, it looks worse than that blonde hair on you," Lavender admonished.
The rumors that Lavender Brown was an airhead had been put to rest tonight, she obviously wasn't Hermione Granger smart but she had proven she wasn't stupid. She had some skill in Transfiguration and she was taking his lesson seriously so Harry had no complaints there.
However, he was not thrilled about having to escort her to Gryffindor tower, nor the fact that she got her way with him so easily.
They made their way through the upper floors of the castle, the halls were almost deserted as there was only ten minutes left before curfew.
It was on the sixth floor that they ran into trouble, Harry saw a yellow spell coming at them out of the corner of his eye and reacted on instinct.
Harry wrapped his left arm around the girl walking beside him pulled her against his side while casting a shield charm over them both with his wand hand.
The spell struck his shield and fizzled out, "Close your eyes", Harry whispered into Lavender's ear before dropping the shield and casting a silent 'Lumos maxima' followed by a cannon blast spell in the direction he believed his attacker was hiding.
The corridor was lit up by blinding white light, followed by a deafening 'Boom!'
There was a scream down the hall and someone stumbled out of an alcove behind a statue of a rampant lion, the boy was very disoriented and didn't even notice the red beam of Harry's stunning spell until it impacted his chest dropping him like a sack of potatoes.
Lavender was still clinging to him and Harry became very aware of the fact when he felt her chest pressed into his side and could smell her perfume making his breath hitch.
" It's safe now," Harry told her trying to get her to release him.
"Who was it," Lavender asked opening her eyes and looking down the hall.
"Not sure I didn't-
" Oi Potter, get your hands off my girlfriend," an angry voice shouted from behind them cutting Harry off midsentence.
Lavender released him as if she had been burned, " Won Won, we were just attacked." Lavender exclaimed as she headed to where Ron and Hermione were coming down the hall to meet them.
"Causing more trouble Potter?" Granger asked snippily.
Before Harry could make a sarcastic remark Harry heard a voice that made him sigh, "What on earth is going on here?" Professor McGonagall demanded.
"We were attacked, Harry was walking me back to the common room when someone tried to curse us, Harry cast a shield and made this really bright light and a loud boom," Lavender explained.
"What were you doing with him!" Ron demanded hotly.
"He is my Transfiguration tutor," Lavender answered sounding annoyed.
"Enough! Mr. Potter, did you see who cast the spell?" McGonagall asked shutting Ron up and stalling anymore of his questions.
"I stunned him he should still be beside the lion statue," Harry answered.
"You just stunned him?" McGonagall asked in a tone of surprise.
"Yes ma'am, I want this punishment to end at Christmas not carry on through the new year," Harry said grumpily.
"Ha, I knew this would work!" McGonagall exclaimed before schooling her expression.
"So the loud bang was just a sound charm?" Hermione asked curiously.
The professor headed down the hall and found the unconscious form of Zacharias Smith.
Hermione who had followed her gasped in shock, no doubt she was expecting someone from the house of serpents.
"What did I tell you the other day Granger?" Harry asked smugly.
"But he was part of the D.A, how could he do something like this?" Hermione asked more to herself than Harry.
"His mother's name was Portentia Rowle before she was married, his uncle Thorfinn was a death eater," Harry explained making everyone except Professor McGonagall look surprised.
"But he's a Hufflepuff", Ron said in disbelief.
" School house's mean squat in the real world Weasley," Harry snapped.
"That's enough Potter, Weasley escort Ms. Brown and Ms. Granger back to the common room," McGonagall ordered.
" Can I go professor," Harry asked hopefully.
"Yes, thank you for showing some restraint this time, Potter. There will not be any punishment," Minerva said as she prepared to revive Smith.
"Thank you, professor," Harry said feeling relieved.
Harry started to leave when he heard Lavender call, "thank you, Harry."
Harry turned and nodded, "Don't mention it, good night Lavender."
Before he turned and left, heading towards the Ravenclaw common room.
Harry had barely entered the common room when Luna appeared in front of him.
"So how did it go? Did you ravage her over the teacher's desk for chewing gum in class?" Luna asked excitedly.
Harry sputtered and asked, " What are you talking about?!"
"You know role-playing, your the stern uncompromising teacher, she's the lazy student who has to find a way to pass your class by any means necessary", Luna said excitedly.
" No, nothing of the sort happened," Harry exclaimed his face bright red at the mental image.
"Oh poo, I'm sorry to hear that," Luna said sympathetically.
"It was a perfectly normal tutoring session," Harry assured her trying to regain his composure.
"Okay, so that loud boom wasn't your doing?" Luna asked skeptically.
"Well, it might have been," Harry admitted.
"I knew it," Luna crowed.
"Yes some wanker from Hufflepuff tried to curse us on the way to Gryffindor Tower," Harry explained.
"You walked her back!" Luna exclaimed.
"She made me," Harry defended.
"Yet you refuse to escort me to Gladrags to help me pick out sexy underwear," Luna said loudly catching the attention of most boys in their vicinity.
"If you need any help Lovegood I woul-
" Shut it Corner," Harry snapped cutting the boy off.
"And now you refuse to let anyone else help me either," Luna said dramatically.
"What do I have to do to make this stop?" Harry asked desperately.
"I need to borrow some money," Luna answered cheerfully.
"Couldn't you have just asked?" Harry demanded.
"This way was funnier," Luna admitted.
"How much do you need?" Harry asked with a heavy sigh.
Library, 9/20/1996, 18:04
The last personal tutoring session was about to start, Harry sat at his usual spot in the library waiting, impatiently. She was supposed to be here thirty minutes ago and Harry was getting rather irritated.
A clearing of a throat caught his attention and he turned to see Daphne coming out of the Transfiguration section.
"Good evening Potter," She said primly taking a seat in front of him.
"Good evening Greengrass, where is Davis?" Harry asked.
"Detention, she asked me to inform you and apologize for not showing up," Daphne answered.
"Yeah like you ever apologize for anything," Harry said with a smirk.
"Well at least we understand each other," Daphne replied smiling sweetly.
"Was there something else?" Harry asked when the girl didn't make any move to leave his table.
"Yes, I need to ask you for a favor," Daphne stated in a businesslike tone.
"What is it?" He asked not sure he wanted to know.
"I need you to escort my sister around Hogsmeade next weekend, I would do it myself but I need to tie up some loose ends as it were," Daphne answered with a wicked grin.
"Why doesn't she just go with her friends?" Harry asked.
"She's like you, anti-social, she hasn't really made any friends and I don't want her going alone to the village for her first visit," Daphne answered.
"What would I have to do?" Harry asked suspiciously.
"Show her around the village Honeydukes, Gladrags Puddifoots the usual", Daphne said the corner of her mouth twitching.
" I'll do it, but I will not be taking her to that accursed teashop, I'll show her Zonkos instead," Harry stated firmly.
"That's probably for the best, my father will be meeting us at one and he might get the wrong impression," Daphne smirked.
"Very well, but I need a pound of the usual and I was wondering if you would be able to trade for it," Harry asked hopefully.
"Depends what do you have to trade," she asked curiously.
"Moonflower petals," Harry answered.
"Alright, a pound for a pound, I take it that you two found a patch this year," Daphne said sounding impressed.
"Yes, there's enough to make his potion for a year and enough left over to trade on," Harry replied happily.
"I'll have your monkshood ready next Friday then, Daphne said looking pleased about the deal.
" Pleasure doing business with you," Harry said looking quite happy as well.
They shook hands and Daphne left not long after, Harry stayed in his seat and opened his charms book so he could knock out the essay on the water spell
A few hours later he left the library, heading back to Ravenclaw Tower when he saw Colin Creevey heading in his direction most likely heading to the library.
"Ah, Mr. Creevey lovely night is it not?" Harry asked cheerfully making the boy look up from fiddling with his camera.
"H-hello, your Harry Potter aren't you?" Colin asked looking panicked.
"I am indeed, are you the boy that will be escorting Luna to Hogsmeade next weekend?" Harry asked his tone cheerful.
"Yes," the boy said almost defiantly.
Harry was actually impressed, the boy's year mates were spineless weenies but Colin actually seemed to have a pair.
"Make sure you keep her safe Colin...or else we will have words," Harry said as he walked away leaving the boy gaping in the hallway.
