Hospital Wing, 9/29/1996, 18:13

This had been a very long day, after returning from Hogsmeade he had spent an hour and a half in McGonagall's office answering questions about Katie Bell. He retold everything that happened on the way up to the castle and what he had done to stop the curse from spreading any further after Katie had been cursed.

Leeann told the story from her point of view where Harry learned they were in the 'Three Broomsticks' directly before the incident. Apparently, Katie was fine before she went to the bathroom but after she came out she was off and started marching up to the school and Leann had chased after her.

Longbottom and the other two told their story of finding the scene and Harry ordering one of them to find a professor while he treated Katie. Then Longbottom told Professor McGonagall of his suspicion that Draco Malfoy was behind the attack and was already a marked death eater.

Harry got to watch Professor McGonagall tear Longbottom's theory apart and was getting optimistic that they were about ready to leave when a knock on the door doused his hopes.

The fifth-year Gryffindor girl prefect entered the room and informed Professor McGonagall of finding five badly beaten students at the shrieking shack and every head in the room turned to look at him as if demanding an explanation.

So Harry had spent the next hour proving that he had absolutely nothing to do with it. Luckily there were plenty of witnesses that saw himself escorting Astoria Greengrass around the village all morning.

A short while later he had been released from interrogation and had just enough time to eat before his detention in the hospital wing began.

Currently, Harry was stocking the potions cabinets while Madam Pomfrey was tending to the five boys who were currently unconscious in their hospital beds. Katie had been taken almost directly to St. Mungos after Snape had diagnosed the curses that were attached to that necklace.

'What a day', Harry thought with a sigh as he placed the last vial of potion in the cabinet.

"Ah, you've finished. Do you know the spell to check a person's vitals, Mr. Potter? The matron asked.

" No ma'am, but I'm a quick learner," Harry answered.

"We'll see about that," Pomfrey said and then began explaining how the spell worked.

Over the next half hour, Harry got the hang of the spell and more importantly learned how to interpret his readings. Then he had to memorize the optimum readings so he knew when a patient's levels were unsafe.

After Madam Pomfrey was certain Harry was proficient with the spell she instructed him to watch over the five boys and to take their vitals when they woke up.

Harry sat there for almost an hour while the matron was on the floo with St. Mungos and was beginning to get very bored when one of the boys stirred. Harry recognized him as the blonde he had thrown into the wall not to long ago.

Harry began casting the spell to check his vitals and the readings were where they should be, then his blood pressure reading started spiking and Harry was confused about this for a minute until the kid spoke.

"Please don't hurt me anymore," The kid begged.

Harry snorted and said, "You're in the hospital wing you twit."

"Then why are you here?" Peakes asked suspiciously.

"Detention, I need to get Pomfrey," Harry said as he walked over to her office and knocked.

"Yes," She asked.

"One of them woke up," Harry explained.

"How were his readings?" She asked as she started striding towards the boy's bed.

"Inconclusive," Harry answered honestly.

"How so? She asked.

" Well his BP was fine at first but when he saw me with a wand pointed at him it went through the roof," Harry said confused.

"Imagine that," Pomfrey said sarcastically.

"Not cool, I didn't put him in here... this time," Harry said lamely.

"Well that is an improvement," Pomfrey agreed.

"Is there anything else you need me to do, ma'am," Harry asked

"You're free to go for tonight Mr. Potter, I will see you next Saturday," Madam Pomfrey said after checking the time.

"Thank you, good night ma'am," Harry said as he hurried towards the door before she changed her mind.

He made his way down the hall and sighed in relief at finally getting a moment's peace. This had been a very long Saturday and his only thought at the moment was getting to bed, out of the corner of his eye he noticed Malfoy creeping up the main staircase.

'Well Longbottom did say Malfoy was up to something, maybe I'll look into it,' Harry thought to himself as he headed towards Ravenclaw Tower.

Great Hall, 9/30/1996, 08:58

Harry sat at the table doing a good imitation of Luna, his eyes were barely open due to staying up until after midnight last night. Harry had been just drifting to sleep when he received an important call on the mirror from Sirius.

Sirius and Remus were in the process of packing everything at the Black townhome in London off to the Black vault. During their packing, a XXXXX class dark artifact was discovered and Sirius would be meeting with Dumbledore today to see if the headmaster knew anything about it.

Sirius had also informed Harry that he would be allowing the Order of the Phoenix to use the house for meetings once all of the valuable items in the house

were sent to Gringotts.

The final piece of news was the most unwelcome, Sirius had asked him to remain in the castle during Christmas. Unless Harry wished to spend two weeks trapped in that dingy old house with the Weasley's, Granger, and Neville Longbottom he really didn't have a choice.

"You look particularly murderous this morning," said a dreamy voice to his left.

"Bad news last night," Harry mumbled.

"You look like a darvylurp has taken up residence in your bum," Luna commented as she pilled waffles on her plate.

"Whats a darvylurp?" Harry asked distractedly.

"Think of a ferret crossed with a porcupine, they lodge themselves in tight spaces and attack anyone who disturbs their nest," Luna said as she upended a bottle of syrup over her waffles.

"I don't know about all that but I'm quite put out with Sirius at the moment," Harry said moodily.

"Did him and Remus finally stop hiding their love for each other," Luna asked curiously.

"No, Remus is dating Tonks. Sirius said I should stay at the castle for Christmas this year," Harry said trying not to laugh at Luna's first guess.

"I still think that's just a cover-up," Luna said stubbornly.

"Whatever, how was your date?" Harry asked hoping to avoid one of Luna's favorite pastimes.

"It was very nice, though there was something strange," Luna answered thoughtfully.

"What?" Harry asked.

"He seemed very concerned about my safety, I slipped in a puddle and Colin almost had a panic attack," Luna said looking confused.

"That's odd," Harry said suppressing a grin.

"We did kiss, he didn't try and grope me though," Luna said her tone sounding disappointed.

"And he won't if he knows what's good for him," Harry said firmly.

"We'll see about that," Luna said grumpily.

Before Harry could reply he saw Daphne leaving the hall and decided now was as good a time as any to ask her a favor.

"Excuse me, I need to have a word with Daphne," Harry said as he quickly got up.

Harry hastily caught up to her and fell into step beside her.

"I need a word if you have a minute," Harry asked.

"Sure," she said as she made a right into the room they met at the other morning.

"What's up, Potter?" Daphne asked.

"Do you know anything about that Bell girl being attacked?" Harry asked.

"You're not accusing me I hope?" Daphne asked coldly.

"No, that attack wasn't your style anyway," Harry assured her.

"Very well, I've heard rumors that the attack was meant for Dumbledore," Daphne said after some thought.

"Longbottom is convinced it was Malfoy's work," Harry told her.

"That isn't completely impossible, Draco does have a motive and he's certainly arrogant enough to try something like that to earn a mark," Daphne said thoughtfully.

"Longbottom thinks he already has one, if that's true that could cause problems," Harry said seriously.

"How so?" Daphne asked.

"He's betrothed to Astoria," Harry answered simply.

"Fuck! I forgot about that, I'll do some checking and let you know what I find out," Daphne said her tone sounding agitated.

"Thanks, Draco is kind of a sticky wicket for me as well since he is the next in line for the Black headship," Harry admitted.

"Unless you prove he's a death eater, then Sirius will have grounds to disinherit him," Daphne said catching on.

"Exactly, though that will cause other problems but never mind," Harry agreed.

"By the way, well done with my sister. She said you were a perfect escort," Daphne praised.

"I just wish I had been warned to avoid the shack," Harry said pointedly.

"You handled that well, my father was impressed," Daphne said dismissively.

"Right, just let me know if you find anything," Harry said in exasperation.

"Will do," Daphne said before she turned and walked out the door.

Harry shook his head, that girl was always so cold. Still, he had gotten what he was after so he couldn't complain.

Great Hall, 10/7/1996

The past week had been weird, not only was the news of both attacks spreading through the castle like wildfire but the promary suspect was actng very weird.

Harry saw Malfoy skulking around the upper floors on a nightly basis and he was getting very curious as to what the other boy was up to.

Dumbledore had announced that all Hogsmeade weekends had been canceled in light of the double attacks that had happened the previous Saturday not that many were surprised.

The Gryffindor's were starting to get restless, three members of their Quidditch team were hospitalized and were still not able to play in today's game. They had called in backups for the positions easily enough and as long as Ginny caught the snitch quick enough they would most likely beat Slytherin.

Since Katie Bell had been the captain of the quidditch team, the position now went to the Weasel who looked very ill this morning much to Harry's delight.

Harry never cared all that much for quidditch so he would be taking advantage of an empty library while the rest of the school was down at the pitch.

"Good morning Harry," Luna said happily.

"Good morning Luna how ar-

ROOOARRR!

Harry jumped and felt his knees connect painfully with the underside of the table. Looking over he saw a smirking Luna wearing that ridiculous lifesized lion hat that was chewing on a snake.

" I hate that damn hat," Harry grumbled.

"Yes, you said as much last year. Though I have no idea why," Luna said innocently.

"Because you use it to torment me," Harry suggested.

"I do not, you're very jumpy lately," Luna argued.

"Yes, Because you always pull that gag when I'm not paying attention," Harry countered.

"Blah, your so sensitive," Luna whined.

"Am not!"

"Are too!"

"Oh no, I will not be drawn into one of those childish arguments," Harry replied maturely.

"Fine, I have other news to share anyway," Luna informed him happily.

"What's that?" Harry asked wary of her answer.

"I signed up to be a Quidditch commentator and was informed yesterday I get to commentate the Gryffindor vs. Hufflepuff match in March," Luna said proudly.

"That's wonderful, I'm sure you'll do great," Harry said internally sighing in relief.

"I hope so, you'll be at the game, won't you?" Luna asked hopefully.

"Of course I will Luna," Harry said easily.

"Thank you Harry, I would hug you but this hat might bite you," Luna said happily.

"It bites?", Harry asked scooting a bit further away from her.

" Oh yes, In has enough bite force to crush a ham bone to dust," Luna said matter of factly.

"Now I really hate that hat," Harry grumped.

"Yes I know it's an evil hat blah blah, I need to meet with Colin before the game," Luna said before she got up and started skipping across the hall.

"Give him a hug for me," Harry called after her.

'Huh, Luna knows how to flip the bird,' Harry thought with a grin as he watched Luna skip over to the Gryffindor table.

Colin beamed when he saw Luna coming towards him and Harry felt a little better about her choice of suitors, from all he had observed the kid was an alright guy.

'Still, it wouldn't hurt to have a chat with him in the future,' Harry thought as he finished his breakfast.

Harry waited until eleven when everyone went down to the pitch before heading to the library and took his usual seat. The library was completely deserted, he lived for these moments, he picked out a few books that took his fancy and settled in for a nice quiet read.

Unfortunately, all things must come to an end, Harry heard the door creak open and the click-clack of high-heeled shoes on the stone floor headed in his direction.

Finally giving up when the sound got to loud to read over, Harry looked up to see Daphne approaching.

She quickly made it to his table and took a seat, " I have some information on Draco," She said primly.

"That was pretty quick," Harry commented.

"Well Pansy has a big mouth and is very susceptible to the confundus charm," Daphne replied smugly.

"So what did you learn?" Harry asked eagerly.

"He is definitely a marked death eater, he has a mission to complete here at the school on the dark lords orders," Daphne explained.

"We were already pretty sure that whoever slipped Katie that necklace was trying to get Dumbles, Malfoy has got to be connected to that somehow," Harry said thoughtfully.

"Those were my thoughts as well, listen I owed you a favor so this was it. I have to focus my time on getting my sister out of this damn contract," Daphne said seriously.

"That's fine I'll take it from here, thanks for your help," Harry said genuinely.

"Don't mention it... to anyone," Daphne said before getting up and leaving his table.

This was another piece of the puzzle but this didn't answer how Malfoy had pulled it off. He was confirmed to be in detention the day Bell was cursed which meant one of two things, there was either another death eater in the school helping him or he had an accomplice on the outside.

Either way, Harry was pretty sure he had enough to get the ball rolling with Sirius.

In the meantime Harry would observe Malfoy and figure out the best tome to make his move, he really wished he had that map Sirius always talked about, it would make this operation a breeze.

He did have his dad's cloak and from what Sirius had told him he was lucky to have that.

According to Sirius, his father had loaned the cloak to Dumbledore in September of eighty-one. Sirius had to hound the man to return the thing for a decade and was on the verge of going through the Wizengamot to get a court order when the headmaster reluctantly returned it.

Sirius had a suspicion that the headmaster wanted to give it to the Longbottom boy but knew with the house of Black pushing so hard to have it returned that letting Neville have it would not be possible.

That was another reason Harry had little respect for the headmaster, the invisibility cloak had been in the Potter family since Ignotus Peverell's granddaughter Lolanthe married Hardwin Potter almost two centuries ago.

Tired of thinking about the past Harry started working out a way to loosely track the ferret's movements until he could put together a rough timetable for shadowing him under the cloak.

Albus Dumbledore was having a strange week, thanks to Sirius finally seeing reason in the wake of another attack, one of the Horcruxes was found by accident.

Also, by a strange twist of fate, he had discovered a possible location for yet another Horcrux. Which was fortunate now that he knew the seaside cave was a bust.

He had brought Sirius Black into his confidence concerning the Horcruxes and they had speculated that his cousin might have one either in her possession, at LeStrange manor, or in Bellatrix's personal vault at Gringotts.

If they could find another Horcrux that would bring the number remaining down to two, well three if you count the one lodged in Neville's scar.

The week hadn't been all good news though, Rufus finally declassified the werewolf attacks that took place all over Britain on the last full moon, it would most likely make the 'Daily Prophet' by Monday.

The Bell girl was still unresponsive though the curse had been completely purged from her body the experts predicted it would be months before she woke from her coma.

On the upside, the school was running smoothly. The five Gryffindor boys would be back to class on Monday. It seemed the Greengrass family wanted their pound of flesh for the boy's attack on their youngest though he could never prove it.

The Potter boy seemed to be cooling off of late, no violent incidents, and Albus was quite pleased with how he had handled the last confrontation with Mr. Smith.

Neville seemed to be putting forth enough effort to impress Minerva so all in all Albus was pretty happy with how things at the school were going.

'Now if I could just figure out what is going on with the werewolf population,' Albus thought tiredly.

Seventh Floor, 10/17/1996, 23:08

He had done it, this was where Malfoy was spending all his time. Harry had seen him disappear into the wall across from that tapestry and the little first-year girl that was standing watch.

Now he understood why the girl had dropped her scales and tore off down the hallway a few weeks back, she was alerting Malfoy that someone was outside the door.

All Harry had to do now was wait for Malfoy to come out, then slip into the room before the room disappeared.

Harry had tracked Malfoy here multiple times now and spent the last week researching this room Malfoy was using. To put it simply the room was a feat of magic thought to be impossible. This was also the place the defense group held their meetings so Luna was quite knowledgeable about it.

This room seemed to answer the seeker's thoughts to the best of its ability and form rooms that met the seeker's requirements perfectly.

Harry had prepared to make his move tonight. He would go in unnoticed, take a few pictures, try and figure out what Draco was doing, then leave without being noticed.

Harry noticed the shimmer on the wall and hastily made his way as close to the door as he could and waited, sure enough, the door opened and Malfoy stepped out looking exhausted. Harry took the opening and darted in a millisecond before the door closed, part of the cloak got caught in the door and was ripped off him but there was nobody in here to see him anyway.

Taking a look around Harry whistled in appreciation, this place made the great hall look like a broom closet in terms of size. Luckily there was a layer of dust on the floor that showed Malfoy's path through the room easily enough.

Harry waited about five minutes before opening the door and freeing his cloak, then set out following Malfoy's footprints in the dust.

He didn't have to go in that far before he found where Malfoy had been walking back and forth in front of a tall black cabinet.

'This must be it,' Harry thought before raising his wand and incanting, "lumos solaris."

A large bright white orb rose from his wand and floated near the ceiling bathing the room in bright white light. Harry took out the camera from his bag and started photographing the cabinet from as many angles as possible, then he opened the doors and took pictures of the inside, and finally, he took pictures of the runic array etched into the back of the cabinet.

Harry shut the door and was about to cancel the lighting spell when a glint of silver in his peripheral caught his attention.

Harry froze when he registered what it was he was looking at, he had seen it on the statue every night on his way to the dorms and would recognize its shape anywhere.

Moving slowly as if in a dream Harry walked over to a bust of an ugly warlock with a tarnished tiara on its head and read the inscription etched into the sparkle of the tiara, 'Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure.'

With a shaky breath Harry called out, "Kreacher!"

'Pop'

The elderly elf appeared beside him looking around in wonder, "What does young master be needing?"

"Please take this camera and that bust with the tiara on it's head to Sirius," Harry asked politely

Kreacher accepted the camera Harry handed him and placed his hand on the bust before closing his eyes and disappearing with a loud 'pop.'

Now he would have to hurry back to his dorm and call Sirius on the mirror to explain what it was he had just sent him.

"Sirius Black", Harry called into the mirror.

Sirius' face appeared in the mirror looking confused and a bit worried. " Hey mate, wanna explain that recent package, if you photographed yourself shagging some bird I really don't want to see," Sirius asked.

"I've been trailing Malfoy for the past week, tonight I got into where he's been going. If I'm not mistaken he's trying to repair a magical cabinet. I took photos of it and I was hoping you might could figure out what it is and why it might be important," Harry explained quickly.

"Alright, what about that hideous statue with the crown?" Sirius asked.

"That crown is the lost diadem of Ravenclaw or a very good fake," Harry explained excitedly.

"A foundrrs relic?" Sirius asked nervously.

"Yes," Harry answered slowly.

"Did you touch it at all?" Sirius asked very seriously.

"No, it could be cursed thats why I sent it back statue and all," Harry answered.

Sirius breathed a sigh of relief, "good, I'll let you know what I find out. Try and get some sleep we'll talk Saturday," Sirius said.

"Okay, good night," Harry said and closed the connection.

Harry's first thought was that Sirius seemed a bit off as soon as he had mentioned the diadem, Harry would get to the bottom of that later now it was time to get to sleep.

Hospital Wing, 10/20/1996, 21:43

Harry was enjoying a quiet night in detention, there were no patients to look after and all he had to do tonight was clean and restock the potions cabinet.

A clearing of the throat caught his attention and he turned to see Lavender standing in the doorway looking at him nervously.

"Hey, what can I help you with something?" Harry asked warmly.

"I just came here to let you know that Hermione will be taking over my tutoring, Ron doesn't want me around you," Lavender said quietly.

"Alright, tell McGonagall then," Harry said and then turned backed to the box of potions he was going through.

"I'm really sorry Harry," Lavender said sadly.

"Don't be, I'm not" Harry said not even looking up from what he was doing.

"Okay, goodbye t-then," Lavender said and hastily left the infirmary Harry thought he heard a sob but he wasn't sure.

Harry continued his work, a single tear running down his cheek which he forced himself to ignore.

On the inside, his emotions were wreaking havoc on his mind.

First, there was sadness at what he couldn't quite put his finger on. He knew he should be feeling pleased a third of the worst part of his detentions had been lifted from his shoulders yet he felt like he had lost something dear to him.

There was also this hurt rejected feeling, she had chosen the Weasel over him and even though Harry knew Lavender was dating the ginger twat it still hurt more than he could explain.

The final emotion was the easiest to deal with, rage. Harry latched onto his rage because he knew this emotion, he used it to push the other two down and let it bubble below the surface. Harry held onto his rage and slowly pushed it back where it belonged and cleared his mind.

Sirius wondered why Harry avoided human contact, well this right here was a prime example of why he was the way he was, other people only ended up letting you down.

Harry used his occlumency to slowly calm himself, nothing good would come from carrying the rage close to the surface.

"Mr. Potter, you're free to go," Madam Pomfrey called from her office pulling him from his thoughts.

"Thanks, ma'am, good night," Harry called out on his way out the door.

Making his way through the hallway Harry allowed his mind to wander, he knew nothing would have happened with Lavender and the way things went down were for the best for all parties involved.

That didn't mean he was happy about her chosing to end their sessions, Harry had started to look forward to Wednesday's and seeing Lavender.

"What are you doing out so late Potter?" A female voice called pulling Harry from his musing..

Looking to where he heard the voice speaking from he saw Granger and a smug-looking Weasel standing on the fifth-floor landing.

"Just got out of detention," Harry said easily as he kept climbing the steps.

"Did she tell you yet?" Ron demanded.

"Yep, thanks by the way you freed up my Wednesday's, good night," Harry said casually enjoying the look of annoyance on the other boys's face.

Hermione looked positively furious which sweetened the deal even more as far as Harry was concerned, maybe this wasn't such a bad thing after all.

Harry knew the Weasel just wanted to rub it in his face that Lavender had chosen him, the fact Harry didn't seem to care really galled the ginger twat.

Granger was probably just upset that she had to tutor the girlfriend of her crush for no apparent reason.

'I'll get over this soon enough,' Harry thought with confidence as he entered the common room.

Harry heard his mirror vibrating on his nightstand when he entered his room.

"I'm here Sirius," Harry said as soon as he picked up the mirror.

"I've been trying to call you for the last half-hour," Sirius complained.

"I just got back from detention, what's so important?" Harry asked.

"First off, that cabinet in the pictures, it's a vanishing cabinet. It creates a back door through any ward and would be a very useful way to bring people into the castle," Sirius explained without preamble.

" That makes sense, so if Draco fixed the thing, he could bring death eaters into the castle or smuggle in whatever he wished?" Harry asked concerned at the implications.

"My thoughts exactly, odds are if he's intent on repairing the one in the castle then he knows where the other cabinet is," Sirius agreed.

"Other cabinet?" Harry asked.

"Just like these mirrors, vanishing cabinets are paired with another cabinet to form a passageway between them," Sirius explained.

"Right, so what do we do about the one in the castle?" Harry asked pointedly.

Dumbledore wants it left alone for now, I don't agree but for now, we'll follow his lead," Sirius said with a grimace.

"Yeah fuck that, if Malfoy does anything else inside the school I'll turn that cabinet to splinters and the bearded bastard can kiss my arse," Harry said angrily.

"Wow your in a mood tonight, but at least wait until I kick cousin Draco out of the house of Black before you do anything else," Sirius begged.

"Alright I will, what did you find out about the diadem?" Harry asked curiously.

"Good news and bad news there I'm afraid," Sirius admitted.

"Well, spit it out already the suspense is killing me," Harry demanded.

"The good news is that it is unquestionably the real thing," Sirius said cheerfully.

"And?" Harry asked wanting the bad news.

"And it carried magic so dark we were forced to destroy it," Sirius said somberly.

"What!?" Harry roared angrily.

"It was corrupted with dark magic of the worst sort, it was a danger to anyone it came in contact with," Sirius explained.

"Fuck! Who the hell would do something like that to a founders relic?" Harry demanded.

Voldemort, I didn't tell you before but the item we found at Grimmauld place was a founders relic as was a locket belonging to Salazar Slytherin," Sirius confessed.

"Two, he did that to two relics of the founders?" Harry asked incredulously

"We believe he also corrupted a third, the goblet of Helga Hufflepuff," Sirius admitted.

"Fuck," Harry said completely lost for anything else to say.

"That's all I really needed to tell you, get some sleep," Sirius said alarmed at how his godson was taking the news.

"Okay, good night," Harry said absentmindedly as he closed the mirrors connection.

'This has been one fucked up Saturday," Harry thought before he plopped onto the bed.

Transfiguration Classroom, 10/23/1996, 09:32

... that will be three feet on transfiguring soft tissue on the human face, class dismissed. Mr. Potter please stay behind a minute," Peofessor McGonagall called over the chaos of the class leaving the classroom.

Harry stayed in his seat, he knew she would want to speak with him soon enough.

"Mrs. Brown informed me she wished for a different turor, do you have any idea as to why?" McGonagall asked as soon as the class was empty.

"As far as I can tell the Weasel didn't want me around her," Harry answered nonplussed.

"Why? She was showing great improvement in her Transfiguration work," McGonagall asked curiously.

"Jealousy I suppose, does this mean I can have a free day Wednesday's?" Harry asked hopefully.

"As if Mr. Potter, I thought you knew me better than that. You will be tutoring the first years on charms this evening.

" I sort of figured professor but a guy can hope," Harry answered with a grin.

"You may go Potter, be here after dinner this evening," she said firmly though the corners of her mouth twitched slightly.

"Yes ma'am," Harry said as he got up to leave.

"Potter, if Ms. Brown doesn't continue to show improvement under Ms. Granger's tutelage, you will go back to tutoring her regardless of Mr. Weasley's thoughts on the subject," McGonagall said to his retreating back.

"Yes professor," Harry said before walking into the hallway.

Great Hall, 10/27/1996, 08:27

Harry was enjoying his morning coffee after a month of nothing but bad news he received the first bit of good news last night, Draco Abraxus Malfoy was officially disinherited from the Black family.

Sirius had completed the process of removing him from the familylast noght on the full moon, this meant the little bastard was fair game now.

Back when Harry had his confrontation on the train with Malfoy in his first year, Sirius had explained that Draco was the next heir of the Black family and that Harry harming him could cause serious problems for everyone.

Harry was accepted into the family as Sirius' godson but he was not a pureblood, he was ineligible for heirship according to the Black family charter, which meant Harry was considered a lesser member of the house.

Harry had then learned that if he married a pureblood his son would be considered a pureblood and could inherit the Black headship but that was only if Draco was found unworthy of taking up his headship by the Black family magic, which had happened last night.

Harry wasn't greedy or anything he just wanted to ensure that a Malfoy didn't ruin his godfathers family.

Harry's thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of owl post, the hall had filled up around him while he was lost in his own thoughts.

Harry watched a Gringotts owl fly over to Draco and drop an official letter. Harry grinned to himself as he saw the boys face redden in anger as he learned of his expulsion from the house of Black.

Harry's good mood evaporated when the Prophet owl landed in front of him, after paying the owl and unfurling the paper he read the headline and paled the further into the article he read. The article pretty much summed everything up.

Werewolves Attack Diagon Alley, Thirty Dead!
