Grisword: it could work if Alduin took a human form as well, but being the type she is, she'd prefer her Dragon form over her mortal form as she is a Goddess. I may plan on having Rahgol transform into a dragon but no promises, besides who can teach him the Shout? he'd need to be strong and ready for that kind of Shout, he's essentially unlocking the dragon within him and letting it free.
Devon Head: plus, he didn't have that good of a childhood in the first 6 or 7 years of his life with humans/Nords.
Bob2121998: That...doesn't make any sense. His first kill is by crafting armour? How does that work? I'm confused. I figured he could use the Dragonbone armour to suit his image as a Dragonborn, plus it'd be better than him switching armours all the time, especially since he uses crap ones for now. Bloody hell, I'm still thinking this is a game and not a story.
Over the next few days, Rahgol did jobs for the Companions, slowly gaining the respect of the other members of the Companions until Skjor asked to see him, Skjor explained that Rahgol's activities had been noticed and the Circle had decided to give Rahgol a trial to become a full member by ordering him to retrieve a fragment of Ysgramor's axe from Dustman's Cairn with Farkas along to act as his Shield Brother and observer, thus the two met outside Dustman's Cairn.
"This is the place?" Rahgol asked, looking at the entrance to the ruin, and seeing dead Dragur on the floor.
"Yes, and it seems someone's here as well. Tread lightly." Farkas replied, unsheathing his Greatsword. The two entered Dustman's Cairn and had a little skirmish with a few Restless Draugr and Rahgol took quite a few things that were valuable from chests and shelves, they continued like this until they came into an open room with a grate obscuring one of the passages.
"There should be a lever around here for that gate." Rahgol said as he looked around before spotting the lever in a small room and walked into it, grabbing some potions and a coin purse that was left there before he pulled the lever to unlock the gate but because of that a gate came down and blocked Rahgol's way out. "Fuck."
Farkas chuckled as he walked up and shook his head. "Now look at what you've gotten yourself into,"
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, just get me the hell out of here." Rahgol growled with annoyance before suddenly a number of people in Fur Armour burst in and surrounded Farkas,
The intruders started blabbering on about killing Farkas and how anyone who wears his armour dies until one said something about a story, which prompted a chilling retort from Farkas.
"None of you will be alive to tell it." he said as he hunched over, Rahgol could hear his bones cracking as Farkas' armour disappeared and was replaced by fur until a large bipedal wolf stood where Farkas had been and proceeded to slaughter the intruders before running off and the gate in front of Rahgol rose as Farkas returned.
"I hope I didn't scare ya." Farkas teased.
Rahgol scoffed as he began searching the bodies, what was left of them, for anything of value. "With the life I've had, seeing a Werewolf is casual for me." He picked up one of their weapons and saw it was made of pure silver.
"What do you mean by that?" Farkas asked, looking genuinely interested as as Rahgol finished his looting and they headed further into the Cairn.
"I was raised by a Dragon since I was 7 years old." Rahgol said, causing Farkas to pause and look at him in surprise as Rahgol walked on. After a moment of stunned shock, Farkas caught up with Rahgol.
"You were raised by a Dragon since you were a boy?" Farkas asked, still in shock and disbelief.
"Yep." Rahgol answered, not saying anything else so Farkas dropped it. "So, am I going to become a Werewolf?"
"Not right away, no. It's reserved only for the Circle. Prove your honor to be a Companion; Eyes on the prey, not the horizon."
"Sounds poetic."
The two continued like this, making idle conversation and killing Draugr and Silver Hand (Farkas had told Rahgol the name of the organization they had encountered, they were an organisation of Werewolf hunters that had a vendetta against the Companions for some reason) until they reached the main chamber of the Cairn where the fragment of the axe rested on what appeared to be an alter, along with a World Wall.
Rahgol walked up to it as Farkas picked up the fragment. Rahgol felt the knowledge he already knew impart his mind and whispered under his breath. "Yol...Dragon word for fire."
Suddenly a majority of the coffins in the room to open and a large number of Draugr to step out.
"Ah, crap." groaned Farkas as one emerged from the coffin next to him and blew him away with an Unrelenting Force shout, Farkas flew over a table and straight into Rahgol where the two fell and were soon surrounded by the Draugr. "Sorry about that Rahgol."
"No worries," replied Rahgol as the two got to their feet and stood back to back, looking at the Draugr. "Well this is a WONDERFUL predicament we've gotten ourselves into."
"I'm beginning to think that it comes with the territory of knowing you."
"That's the price of knowing me, getting into situations like this."
"Tiid wah dir, volaan" said the one that blew Farkas away, which Rahgol identified as a Draugr Deathlord, causing Rahgol and Farkas to glare at him.
"Fuck off." Rahgal and Farkas said in unison before grabbing their weapons and started fighting the Dragur off. Rahgol stabbed the Deathlord through the eyes and ripped it's head off, using it as a weapon to hit another Dragur while Farkas sliced two of the Draugr in half horizontally with his greatsword before slicing another one vertically, a couple of the Draugr stepped back to avoid Farkas' strikes but they were quickly dispatched by Rahgol until there were no more Draugr.
Rahgol checked the bodies for anything of value before they headed back to Whiterun, to Jorrvaskr where they were met by Vilkas at the doors when they arrived.
"I see you have returned, the Circle waits for you in the courtyard." he said before walking off around the building to the courtyard as Rahgol and Farkas followed.
"Brothers and Sisters of the Circle, today we are here to welcome this man into our mortal fold," said Kodlak as everyone took their places in, ironically, a circle with Gral standing opposite Kodlak and Farkas standing on Kodlak's left, "This man has endured, has challenged and has shown his valour. Who will speak for him?"
"I stand witness to the courage of the soul before us" answered Farkas, causing Kodlak to look at him.
"Would you raise your shield in his defence?"
"I would stand at his back, that the world might never overtake us."
"And would you raise your sword in his honor?"
"It stands ready to meet the blood of his foes."
"And would you raise a mug in his name?"
"I would lead the song of triumph as our mead hall reveled in his stories."
"Then the judgement of this Circle is complete, his heart beats with the fury and courage that have united the Companions since the days of the distant green summers. Let it beat with ours that the mountains may echo and our enemies may tremble at the call."
"It shall be so." said all the other members of the Circle in unison before they walked off and Kodlak approached Rahgol.
"So boy, you're one of us now, I hope you won't disappoint." said Kodlak.
"I do not intend to disappoint, it'd ruin my credentials." replied Rahgol in a joking tone getting a laugh from the old man.
"I think you'll fit in here just fine." Kodlak responded before he walked off, noticing that it was late, Rahgol headed inside to get something to eat and some sleep.
Skuldafn
Alduin sat on a pillar, her eyes closed in mediation when Odahviing landed beside her, causing her to open her eyes and look at him.
"What is it?" She asked with slight annoyance her meditation was interrupted.
Odhaviing bowed his head. "Krosis, thuri. I came to inform you that the other Dov are getting restless with our inactivity, most were expecting all our war with the joor upon your return and so far, all we have done is sit around in their eyes." he answered, getting an aggravated growl from the black Dragoness.
"Waan nust laan wah kos kriin naal joor ruz vos niin, but I refuse to allow them to compromise my plans just because they could not control their bloodlust." she growled, her use of Dovahzul - though not loud - shaking the mountain the ruin was built into from the sheer force of her anger.
"You need not worry thuri, few would dare go against you. Although..." Odahviing trailed off with a worried look in his eyes, something Alduin did not miss.
"Although?" she asked.
"Mirmulnir recently left Skuldafn, he claimed it was for hunting purposes, but you know how he can get around the joor. He was headed for the Hold known as Whiterun." Odahviing answered, knowing that Alduin would find out regardless of whether he told her or not.
"I will follow him and monitor his actions. If he attacks the joor, I will kill him as an example to all who would dare ignore my orders." she stated bluntly as Odahviing nodded, knowing better than to argue against Alduin when she was in a mood...
It had been a couple of days since Rahgol had returned the fragment of Wuuthrad. Despite the Companions only having basic errands for Rahgol to run, he had managed to keep himself busy by either doing jobs for the Companions, bounties for the guards of Whiterun or helping Eorlund Gray-Mane out with repairing the Companions' equipment or forging items for sale. Currently, Rahgol was returning to Jorrvaskr with Aela the Huntress, the two having been sent on a joint mission to remove an Ice Wraith from the house of a man named Nazeem.
"i still do not understand why we went there. That fool doesn't even live there." Rahgol complained as the two made their way towards Jorrvaskr.
"Does it really matter? We were paid to get rid of that Wraith and we have, now if only someone would pay us to get rid of Nazeem too…" Aela responded, getting a chuckle from Rahgol as the two had found themselves getting quickly annoyed with Nazeem's attitude, particularly his constant boasting about spending time in the Cloud District of Whiterun.
"Careful, or else the Dark Brotherhood will think they have competition in assassinating people." Rahgol joked, causing Aela to laugh though neither noticed a nearby Argonian stiffen as they walked on. However, before their conversation could continue, a guard ran up to them.
"There you are." he panted, bending over to catch his breath "I've been looking everywhere for you."
"What is it?" Rahgol asked with a slight huff.
"Not to my knowledge, the Jarl wants to see you immediately." answered the guard.
"Better not keep him waiting then." rahgol said and bade Aela farewell for now as he walked to Dragonsreach. When he arrived, the palace was buzzing with activity, with guards giving out orders and carrying out various tasks, with archers taking up positions on the walls and swordsmen pushing catapults up to the walls.
He entered the palace to see the Jarl on his feet talking to a guard with Irileth and Farengar by his side, the Jarl nodded to Irileth and she left the palace, the Jarl watched her go before he saw Rahgol and waved him over.
"Again, tell him what you told me" the Jarl commanded the guard when Gral got to him.
"Yes my Jarl" said the guard, bowing to him before turning to Gral "We saw a Dragon coming from the south. It was fast, faster than anything I've ever seen. When I left it was just circling over the watchtower."
"Good, now go to the barracks and get some food and rest. You've earned it" the Jarl told the guard before turning to Rahgol. "I'm afraid there's no time to stand on ceremony my friend, I need your help again. I want you to go with Irileth and help her fight this Dragon. You survived Helgen, so you have more experience than anyone else here regarding Dragons…"
"If you call being thrown like a toy by a Dragon experience." Rahgol muttered but Balgruuf ignored him.
"But I haven't forgotten your previous deeds for my city." the Jarl continued on "As a token of my esteem, I have instructed Avenicci that you are now allowed to purchase property in the city."
"Can't this wait until AFTER I've come back from fighting this Dragon? The right to purchase property won't do me much good if the whole Hold is burned down by a giant flying lizard, will it?" Rahgol deadpanned, earning himself a scowl from the nearby guards as he turned and left, absently noting that Farengar was attempting to convince the Jarl to allow him to join the fight against the Dragon.
He continued out of Dragonsreach to Whiterun's main gate where he met Irileth, who had just finished giving a speech to a squad of guards and they all headed out of the gate and tore down Whiterun's roads as fast as they could.
"So where exactly is this watchtower then?" Rahgol asked Irileth who was currently applying the Ironflesh spell to herself. Before she could answer, said tower came into view over the hill, however the tower looked to be in ruins and on fire in various places. Rahgol and Irileth looked at each other before sprinting towards the tower. Upon arriving, they were greeted by a frantic looking guard.
"No! Get back! It just grabbed Tor and Hroki when they tried to make a break for it!" he cried before looking up at the sky "By the gods, here he comes again!"
The group went quiet as shadow fell over them and all that could be heard was the sound of rushing air and the screaming of two guards as they were carried off into the sky, Rahgol's eyes followed the Dragon's flight path as it rose higher and higher before quickly changing directions and – if he squinted – he could make out two small shapes flying towards the horizon. Turning his attention back to the Dragon, his eyes widened as it flew rapidly towards them.
"Ready your bows." Irileth barked as the guards and took out bows, stringing them with Steel Arrows and pulling the strings taut, ready to fire them at the command of their Dunmer commander.
"FIRE!" she bellowed and a volley of arrows flew at the Dragon, only to bounce off its scales harmlessly. The Dragon showed its displeasure at the attack by catching a guard in his jaws as he flew over, the poor man's terrified screams quickly cut short by the sickening crunch of bone and metal, it then pulled another quick turn before landing in front of Rahgol, Irileth and the remaining guards.
The Dragon took a deep breath and blew out a torrent of flames, forcing the group to scatter to avoid a fiery death. Rahgol rolled to his feet, he took a second to observe his opponent: the Dragon seemed smaller in size than the one he'd met in Helgen but with a bulkier build, his scales were a light shade of grey and his eyes were a light yellow colour, the Dragon also seemed to prefer using its wings as a set of legs, instead of its actual forelegs, indicating that it was perhaps unused to walking on its forelegs.
Unsheathing his two iron sword, Rahgol charged at the Dragon, swinging both swords into the Dragon's neck with all his might but the swords merely bounced off. The Dragon retaliated by lashing out with its right foreleg, the claws slicing through his armour like hot knives through butter, leaving four deep gashes in his chest and tossing him aside like a ragdoll. The Dragon then opened his jaws to bite Rahgol in half but was distracted by a Lightning Bolt spell from Irileth and another volley of arrows from the guards.
As it turned to attack the Dunmer, Rahgol quickly climbed on its back and began making his way along it towards the head. When he reached the head, he raised his sword and attempted to stab it down into the Dragon's brain but the blade shattered upon contact with the skull, unbalancing Rahgol and allowing the Dragon to throw him off. The Dragon then sank its teeth into Rahgol's shoulder, getting a cry of pain from the man and threw him into a nearby rock, the action tearing right through his armour and breaking a number of the straps holding it together, resulting in pieces of the armour flying off.
"Ow...what is it...with Dragons biting me...in the shoulder?" Rahgol said with pained grunts and winces in between his words as he tried standing.
"You fight valiantly, to honour your courage – however futile it is – I, Mirmulnir, will reward you with a glorious death." the now named Mirmulnir said as he raised his head to bite Rahgol again, Rahgol went for his other sword but realised that it had been thrown clear when Mirmulnir slashed him the first time, so he quickly focused his magic into his hands and conjured a greatsword and thrust it into a softer looking patch of scales between the Dragon's foreleg and underbelly, the blade successfully piercing the scales and eliciting a roar of pain from the Dragon.
The Dragon gave Rahgol a glare as he smirked at it. Mirmulnir then grabbed Rahgol's leg in his jaws and threw him into a piece of debris from the ruined watchtower, watching with pleasure as blood began to run from the holes in the armour (and Rahgol's leg) that his teeth had made, Rahgol's pained grunts sounding like music to his ears.
"I was going to be merciful and give you a quick death joor, but I'm now going to make it extremely long and painful for that little stunt." He growled as he took off into the sky, rising higher until he was out of range of the guard's arrows and Irileth's spells. He took a deep breath and bellowed out three words "YOL TOOR SHUL!"
Fire erupted from the Dragon's mouth and came towards Rahgol who looked up, on too much pain to try and find a way out of this one. He gritted his teeth as he expected to feel the burn of fire and his death coming.
But a black blur suddenly landed in front of Rahgol and took the fire head on. When the fire died away, Rahgol looked to see none other than the Dragoness from Helgen, the one that in a way saved his life from having his head cut off...and who just purposefully saved him from being roasted.
"Th-Thuri? Why are you here?" Mirmulnir asked with wide eyes and his voice filled with fear at the look in her eyes.
The Dragoness said nothing except for three words. "Fus Ro Dah."
The words, though calmly spoken had devastating results: when the phrase was spoken, they generated a blue shockwave that crashed into Mirmulnir with enough force to send him crashing into the ground near where Rahgol was laying, landing on one of his wings with a sickening crunch. The other Dragon landed beside him and placed her right foreleg on his throat and began applying pressure.
Mirmulnir looked up with fear as the Dragon approached, a dark glare on her face as she approached. "Hin sahlag togaat wah gemogur hin sosahlos fund droz ko saraan do dii mein!" She roared and slammed her foot down on his head, causing the male Dragon to choke for air as she leaned her down close. "I gave specific orders for the mortals to be left alone for now, orders you have went against."
She looked up and jut now noticed she had an audience that was shooting arrows at her along with spells which didn't bother her at all before she looked at the wounded Rahgol and tilted her head as her tone took on a amused, teasing one. "We should stop meeting like this, Dii mal joor, that's twice I haved saved you from death."
Rahgol grunted out a chuckle. "Next time, how about I get you some biscuits as thanks?"
Despite the sarcasm, an amused snort came from the Dragoness. "I doubt you have enough biscuits to satisfy my hunger." Rahgol laughed at that before groaning in pain.
"So...what do I call you?" Rahgol asked with curiosity as he stared into her eyes, which were once red but now a golden colour.
The Dragoness hummed with a smirk. "You do not have the right to know my name, but you may call me your Thuri." She chuckled and eyed him. "What do I call you, little mortal?"
Rahgol eyed her but answered. "Rahgol Dinok Krosis."
The Dragoness had a surprised look for a moment before her expression went neutral. "We shall see if you are worthy of such a name, boy." She then looked down at the Dragon underneath her. "As for you...Hi fen dir fah hin vothaarn."
Without another word, the Dragoness sunk her teeth into Mirmulnir's throat and ripped it out, causing the male Dragon to blled badly and soon enough the life left him as the Dragoness removed her foot, watching as the body started to burn and energy started floiwng into Rahgol who looked shocked.
"You are Dovahkiin?" The Dragoness said with an intrigued look. "You interest me even more, Rahgol."
"No… this can't be." Rahgol muttered in horror. "He... He would've told me."
The Dragoness snorted. "Do not deny your true nature, little Joor, it is not wise. Now I see why you smell like one of us. But you are not a true Dovah. Farewell for now."
With that said, she took off, leaving a stunned Rahgol behind.
Skuldafn
Alduin returned to Skuldafn where Odahviing was waiting for her. "Thuri, I take it Mirmulnir is dead?" He asked.
Alduin snorted. "Yes, my friend. He disobeyed me and died for it. However, I did find out a new interesting development while I was there and killed him. Odahviing gave her an curious look. "That mortal who insulted me at Helgen...his name is of the Dragon tongue. His name is Rahgol Dinok Krosis."
Odahviing brought his head to show his confusion. "If he was around the Old One, a interesting name to be given, no?"
"Perhaps." Alduin mused. "Rage Death Sorrow...I wonder. However, I discovered he is the-"
"DOV AH KIIN!" Alduin was interrupted by the sound of four voices calling for a Dovahkiin. The shout echoed across all of Skyrim, leaving many to wonder just what a 'Dovahkiin' was and who was calling for it.
Alduin looked at Odahviing, her expression clearly annoyed but making it clear that was what she was going to say. Odahviing growled.
"Shall I go kill him, Thuri? Nii fund kos vonik wah vos mok lahney ahrk naram muliik, med Miraak." Odahviing said, getting an angry growl from the Dragoness when that last word was mentioned.
"Do not EVER speak his name in my presence." She warned him before she calmed down. "It is by my father's will that a Dovahkiin has appeared in this age and fight me, as the prophecy tells. For now, we'll leave Rahgol alone, but we shall keep an eye on him froma distance. This one interests me greatly, my traitor brother wouldn't just take the boy as his own unless he had specific reasons."
"Perhaps because he is Dovahkiin." Odhaviing suggested.
"Perhaps..." Alduin muttered but was unconvinced. Paarthurnax must've sensed Rahgol was a Dovahkiin when raising him as his own...
That's it for this chapter. The next will be longer and the start of much longer chapters due to how long the game is and all that jazz with the quests. I hope you enjoyed the change of Alduin herself coming and basically saving Rahgol's life for a second time. There will be meetings between them before their fight at the Throat of the World and in Sovngard.
